Welcome back, Creators! In today’s episode, we’re sitting down with actress and playwright Katy Murphy. Most recently, Katy’s production of Leo Season was featured as part of Candle House Collective’s FireStarter Initiative. If you’re new here, most of our episodes are interviews, where I bring on artists and creatives of all stripes to discuss their work. Since the pandemic began, many Americans have developed a stronger interest in growing their own food and improving their culinary skills. Architecture has a profound impact on our everyday lives. The average American spends about 90% of their time inside—in classrooms, offices, the (ideally) long hours of sleep at night, and more. In this episode, architectural designer Corrina Thompson (of LPA Design Studios in Irvine, CA) enlightens us on all the little details that architectural firms have to consider when creating the spaces in which we live.
Corrina discusses the creativity and complexity of architectural design, her journey from art school to the professional world, and all of the lessons she’s learned along the way. Even if you yourself aren’t working in the architectural field, so much of what Corrina shares in this episode about collaboration and "working smarter" can be applied to most creative endeavors. I’m thrilled to see what lies in store for Corrina in the future.

Cairo has an upcoming conference that she's helping to organize for the Chicago Cultural Alliance called Activating Heritage. Activating Heritage is an annual conference, but this year it is virtual, so you don't have to be in Chicago to attend! Cairo will be monitoring two panels—one on COVID-19 era-resilience in the arts, and the other on the future of hybridization in the arts.

If you follow my author account on Instagram (@nicolemiraswriting), then you'll have heard that I officially signed with my literary agent a few weeks ago! In this special episode, I'll be doing a deep dive into what my process was like writing my book, pitching to literary agents, and how I got that "yes" in the end! Querying literary agents can be an extremely difficult and stressful endeavor for writers, and I hope that with this episode, I am able to demystify the process.
In addition, I share the news that I am officially launching online writing courses with The Creator's Table Podcast! The first course available is on Character Development, but I hope to add more courses to the website in the future. Over the years working with my clients as a freelance editor, I noticed a great deal of overlapping questions and issues in their writing (as well as the things I had to address with my own writing).
