Weekly messages from Pastor Cory Murphy and other communicators at Grace Family Church in New Holland, PA.
Be able to articulate what you believe and why you believe it. Follow Jesus publicly and privately. To follow Jesus is to share in his suffering. God uses suffering to bring righteousness to the unrighteous. True understanding of suffering with Jesus shifts us from “I have to” to “I get to." Be obedient even when it isn’t noticed, celebrated, or appreciated. When you are suffering, take joy in connection with Jesus.visit us at: https://mygracefamily.church/
What matters to us is not personal preference but participation in the mission. Seek to understand and offer whatever help you can. Siblings don’t always agree but they always have each other’s back. Don’t be harsh with one another. Blessing is sweeter than payback. Division within a family is never beneficial.visit us at: https://mygracefamily.church/
You said “I do”, now what? Wives are told to willingly choose to lovingly accept their husband’s leadership within their marriage so as to point him to Christ. Husbands are told to willingly choose to honor and lovingly sacrifice for their wife so as to point her to Christ. Sacrifice & submission are both calls to selflessly love your spouse! Sacrifice & submission are both calls to be like Jesus!visit us at: https://mygracefamily.church/
What does it mean to do something with all your heart? Where we feel anxiety the most are probably the places we trust God the least. Everything that happens in our life is under God’s sovereignty. What happens when God’s sovereignty and our anxieties meet? Anxiety cannot thrive in a life humbly surrendered to Jesus. Do not be overly concerned with this world, be consumed by the Kingdom. Humbly surrender every aspect of your life through obedience to the Spirit. Trust the God of the universe to keep his promises to you. When our hearts are in the right place, it puts anxiety in its place.visit us at: https://mygracefamily.church/
Running from and ignoring anxiety won’t make it go away. Worry and prayer are at odds with one another.Prayer takes control away from your anxiety, away from you, and gives it to God. God's peace is the defense against anxiety in your life. Anxiety is being out of sync with God. I don't control everything, but I know the one who does. visit us at: https://mygracefamily.church/
You cannot reach people with the Gospel if you don’t understand who they are and what struggles they face. We were created to live in community, commanded to put ourselves second, and called to live in awe of our Savior. How do we lead those younger than us to live a live that honors God in the digital world?visit us at: https://mygracefamily.church/
When we are curators of our comfort, our boundaries will be the beginning of our anxieties. Anxiety will cause spiritual growth if we handle it the right way. Your level of trust in God is a result of your proximity to him. I don’t control everything but I know the one who does. What is the source of your anxiety? What is your trust level with God?visit us at: https://mygracefamily.church/
What gives you anxiety? Anxiety shows up when we are unaware of God’s presence. Anxiety creeps in when our view of God is too small. The Son of Man, the stairway between heaven and earth lives in you. Our relationship with Jesus should have a profound impact on our anxieties. Surely, the Lord is in this place and we are aware of him.visit us at: https://mygracefamily.church/
New things can make us excited or they can make us uncomfortable.New is always a little uncomfortable, but growth always brings something new. Jesus wants to do something new with you. Is it worth the discomfort?Jesus gives us new mornings.Jesus gives us new mercies.Jesus gives us New Life.visit us at: https://mygracefamily.church/
Jesus wants to save you for something not from something. God has guaranteed you eternal life. What if our faith was so strong it carried people to Jesus who couldn’t get there themselves? Jesus never intended to use your faith just for you. What do you want Jesus to do through your apprenticeship?visit us at: https://mygracefamily.church/
Everyone is being formed by someone or something into the person they are becoming. Your style of living has produced the life you are now living. A desire that does not impact our calendar, our bank account, or our decision making is simply a daydream. Half-hearted commitments never produce admirable results.visit us at: https://mygracefamily.church/
Apprenticeship always leads to action! Jesus bore witness to WHO God is and WHAT God was doing! We do what Jesus did when we... Show the Gospel with our deeds. Tell the Gospel with our wordsvisit us at: https://mygracefamily.church/
Becoming like Jesus begins with our thoughts. Our first act of worship is to align our thoughts with God’s, not God aligning his thoughts to ours. What we think about God will determine how we interact with God. Becoming like Jesus means surrendering like Jesus. How do you need to focus your trust on God?visit us at: https://mygracefamily.church/
What has staying power in your life? You pursue what is in front of you. You pursue what you choose to continually put at the front of your mind. Your desires reflect the state of your heart. Jesus regularly connected with God on the good and the bad days. visit us at: https://mygracefamily.church/
Following Jesus can feel impossible. Too often we think we only need help, not a total transformation. What we will carry on our own will always be heavier than what we will carry with Jesus. What would it mean for you to find rest for your soul? How do you love God?visit us at: https://mygracefamily.church/
We are not just followers of Jesus in public, we are followers of Jesus in private. Be eager to remove what is bad and consume what is good. We are given strength, a bond, and a role. Our job is to bring hope and bring light to the world around us. visit us at: https://mygracefamily.church/
Following Jesus is not passive. It is always more natural for us to slip into sin than to slip into obedience. Holiness requires every aspect of life. Be different like Jesus was different. Jesus is square one of our faith. visit us at: https://mygracefamily.church/
Every person in the trinity plays a part in our salvation. As those who are chosen, cleansed, and sanctified, our focus is no longer on the world around us. What we are committed to has to be bigger than the discomfort of the moment.visit us at: https://mygracefamily.church/
We all try to cover our shame somehow. Shame is the language of the enemy. Forgiveness is the language of the Father. You will never be able to forgive someone else if you do not fully accept God's forgiveness to you. Forgiveness always repays evil with good.visit us at: https://mygracefamily.church/
Our understanding of forgiveness is broken. How can love, anger, and judgment coexist with one another? Jesus shows us the perfect combination of love, anger, and justice on the cross. True forgiveness is loving, just, and rooted in the sacrificial death of Jesus. How do I need to seek forgiveness?visit us at: https://mygracefamily.church/
Our understanding of forgiveness is broken. How do you decide whether to forgive someone or not? The ancient world did not have a good framework for forgiveness: Shame and honor. True forgiveness was seen as weak. Grace is never a weakness. How can I have a more gracious presence this week?visit us at: https://mygracefamily.church/
How do you decide whether to forgive someone or not? If they... then I will... Our understanding of forgiveness is broken. Jesus immediately removes the limitations on forgiveness. How do we need to soften our hearts and rethink our willingness to forgive?visit us at: https://mygracefamily.church/
When you ask for God's provision, do you believe he is the only provider or is he simply a backup plan if everything else fails? Surrender means every aspect of our lives is subject to the Lordship of Jesus. We will not surrender what we believe we can't afford to lose or we can't allow to be ruined. Surrender means every aspect of our lives is subject to the Lordship of Jesus.visit us at: https://mygracefamily.church/
Jesus is Greater than all our sin and all our shortcomings. Don't miss how earth-shattering it is to know a God who was flesh and blood. The law showed how far away from God we are. Jesus' birth shows how near to God could become. Jesus is Greater than anything we could ever desire to pursue. Behold the Greatness of Jesus. visit us at: https://mygracefamily.church/
We do not worship an accidental God. You cannot reflect, point to, or explain what you have never seen or experienced. We can share the goodness of God because we have experienced the goodness of God. Jesus was placed in a manger so he could be placed in a grave. The only place he deserves now is the throne of our heart. Knowing Jesus is either a life-changing revelation or he is simply a Christmas decoration.visit us at: https://mygracefamily.church/visit us at: mygracefamily.church
There is a difference between beholding something with a glance and beholding something with a gaze. What are you gazing upon this holiday season? What’s captured your attention? What you gaze at will impact the direction that you go.visit us at: https://mygracefamily.church/
Guest speaker Johnny D discusses how can you plot and strategize to encourage your leaders. Be intentional with time away to LISTEN to God. Be intentional to talk, laugh, cry and wrestle with God. Be willing to ACCEPT or DO something that doesn’t make sense. visit us at: https://mygracefamily.church/
When you don't get what you want it can lead to a place of unrest. Being thankful is a key to keeping other emotions in check. Peace and thankfulness are linked. The response of someone who understands God's love is a thankful heart. Thankfulness is not an emotion, it's a habit. visit us at: https://mygracefamily.church/
Fighting is a normal part of marriage. The key is to fight fair. You don't truly love someone you aren not willing to forgive. Be slow to become angry and quick to forgive. In marriage we often give more but communicate less.Make sure the ice is thick in your relationship.visit us at: mygracefamily.church
Healthy marriages are committed to regularly being intimate with one another. Your attitude is what makes something a chore in your marriage. Your financial situation can easily become the barometer of your marriage. If you don't understand your finances you can't make wise financial decisions. Expectations are everything. The best way to have your expectations heard is to be willing to listen first.visit us at: mygracefmaily.church
What formed your expectations of what marriage would be like? Love is not a fuzzy feeling it’s a recognition of value. Consider the commitment Jesus made to the Church. The perfect marriage does not exist, but progress is always an option. Start to have the conversation with your spouse about how your marriage could be better. visit us at: mygracefamily.church
Marriages usually don't break unexpectedly they erode gradually. Protect your marriage from discontentment. Discontentment robs us of joy in our marriages. We are to be ONE in all aspects of life with our spouse. We want the most Jesus-centered, contentment-filled, covenant-committed marriage at every stage of life. Cherish your marriage above every other relationship on earth.visit us at: mygracefamily.church
Who do you listen to when life gets difficult? When life is out of control it's an opportunity for God to be in control. Sometimes Christians are the first people to lose heart in the face of adversity. Have you been living out of your strength when you should be living out of your weakness? How does your confidence in Jesus change your approach to life?visit us at: mygracefamily.com
What’s really at stake? The means of salvation! Our works have no influence on our salvation, but our salvation should fully influence our works. Your identity in God’s grace is what should move us to display God’s grace.visit us at: mygracefamily.church
How can we create a culture of unity in a world run by division? When we have contempt for one another there is a winner, but it is not us. Our goal is not to be on the winning side, it is to be on the reconciled side and to bring as many people with us as we can. Hate has never won anyone to anything. We change the narrative when we can show people the humility, empathy, and love of Jesus.visit us at: mygracefamily.church
Humans are distinct from the rest of creation. Man and woman are distinct from one another. We are not called to use our gender, sexuality, and marriages to fulfill ourselves but to worship the God who gave us these gifts. Does my sexual ethic worship God or does it worship me and my desires?visit us at: my gracefamily.church
How should Christians react to the tension around race and racism? Racism has deep roots in our country as well as in the world. Diversity was always part of God's plan. Jesus broke down barriers, created a family, and established a kaleidoscopic church. The only way to fully heal racism and racial tension is through the Gospel of Jesus. Be the person others run to and not from.visit us at: mygracefamily.church
Jesus loved all people. All human life matters to Jesus. The Romans used their strength to prey upon the weak, but Jesus used his strength to serve the weak. No matter what has happened, your life Matters to Jesus.visit us at: mygracefamily.church
Too often we hide behind slogans instead of listening to stories How should Christians relate to government and politics? Jesus recognizes the power of the earthly authorities placed over him. We give earthly authority to those God has established but we never give Kingdom authority to anyone other than the King.visit us at: mygracefamily.church
If you want to know God's will for you, you need to seek him. Be a missionary in the places and with the people you know. Paul refuses to tolerate someone who is leading people away from God. When someone corrects our destructive path it is an act of love, not hate. If we choose to reject God, he will allow us to do just that. You have to be willing to survive a few rounds to be a follower of Jesus. We can experience the same process in our own hearts. We cannot be healed without uncomfortably invasive procedures. Comfort is the enemy of growth. What sin are you allowing to exist because you are too comfortable?visit us at: mygracefamily.church
There were still implications of the Gospel that needed to be actualized within Peter’s life. Those saved by Jesus, now enter a process of becoming like Jesus. Those saved by Jesus, now enter a process of becoming like Jesus. Everyone is now invited into God’s family through faith. The Gospel is for those gentiles too. Humble yourself before the cross. Don’t hesitate to acknowledge other’s presence.visit us at: mygracefamily.church
Jesus makes it personal. Jesus takes persecution personally. Persecution is not to earn favor with God. Persecution makes us more like Jesus. Anyone can be used to create a lasting impact on the Kingdom of God. Have you allowed Jesus to change the mission and direction of your life?visit us at mygracefmaily.church
Persecution always propels the spread of the Gospel. The church should grow anywhere its people go. The good news of Jesus brings Joy. There is no exchange we can make with God to make us better followers of Jesus. Gospel effectiveness requires complete surrender. The good news of Jesus is a gift.
You have to be willing to own with your words what you have portrayed with your actions. Words declare what actions and only imply. How do you wish God would reveal himself to you? Nothing will ever be good enough if we are seeing God with our eyes and not our hearts. How do you need to trust God to be God-sized today?visit us at: mygracefamily.church
Church growth brings blessings, opportunities, and problems. Healthy churches recognize leadership limits. Leveraging the gifts and abilities of everyone in the church allows more space for the church to grow. When we live like Jesus we should expect the results Jesus received. The world can't help but notice when we look like Jesus. How much do we really want to look like him?visit us at mygracefamily.church
Why study the Bible? Our response to every situation will change drastically when we trust God's hand. visit us at mygracefmaily.church
What did the text mean to the Biblical audience? What are the differences between the Biblical audience and me? What is the theological principle in this text? How should Christians today apply this theological principle in their lives?

How did we get the Bible we have today? The scriptures were written to inspire change in our lives. Spiritual fruit is a result of Biblical application.visit us at mygracefamily.church
Sin is always first and foremost against God. Our sin might be personal, but its effects are always communal. Sin has consequences! God takes sin seriously!visit us at mygracefamily.church
In the midst of persecution the early church recognizes the sovereignty of God. The events of our lives don't have to be good for God to be good. We wonder why we don't see God do miraculous things while filling every ounce of our lives with comfort. God does the miraculous when we choose discomfort to show our dependence. The early church shared an identity in Christ. The early church shared a relational connection with one another. The early church shared their resources so no one was in need. Sharing is uncomfortable but displays a dependence on God and his provision. How do we need to learn to share?visit us at: mygracefamily.church
When God shows up, get yourself out of the way and put Jesus in the way. What the disciples believed about Jesus can never be disputed. We exist to establish every person on the foundation of Jesus. Lives are changed in the name of Jesus. Look for opportunities to bring Jesus into your everyday conversations. Pray for Jesus to use this unique season in your life and in the lives of those around you.visit us at: mygracefamily.church
Sometimes God doesn't give us what we ask for... and that's a good thing. We get so used to being blessed we forget the one who blessed us. When we repent we turn from sin and point our feet in a direction to run. What are the blessings you take for granted that should bring joy to your life today?visit us at: mygracefamily.church
Women are sometimes seen as subjugated in Christianity. God created men and women uniquely with purpose and equality. Jesus elevated women in a culture that saw them as less than. Jesus invests in women when the culture said they weren't worth the time. Women were responsible for sustaining the ministry of Jesus. Women were the first witnesses of the resurrection. God created men and women to be both equal and opposite. Jesus loves, honors, and values women. We are to love, honor, and value the gift of women in our lives.visit us at mygracefamily.church
Life is a battle. Whether that battle is simply physical or also spiritual is the question. If we are followers of Jesus we are called to take part in the battle. If we aren't against the devil we are aligned with him or used by him. The god of this world plans to use any means necessary to take as many people with him as he can. How do we know who or what to fight? visit us at: mygracefamily.church
How do we know the Holy Spirit is God? What does the Holy Spirit do? The Spirit teaches us, sanctifies us, prays for us and seals us for Heaven. The Holy Spirit is evidence of our adoption as God's children. The Holy Spirit gives us confidence to engage in spiritual warfare. Where do you find your confidence?visit us at: mygracefamily.church

What is spiritual warfare? Life is a battle. Whether that battle is simply physical or also spiritual is the question. Spirituality is a topic many people want to engage in but few people have a firm understanding. We are pretty sure something is out there, we just don't know what. Why Jesus? Because Jesus Changes Everything. Jesus is the only God who has ever reached out his hand to you and me. Following Jesus is knowing and trusting the only God who truly knows us.If Jesus changes Everything, then... ?visit us at: mygracefamily.church
Why does a commitment to church matter? There will come a time in your church life where leaving is going to be easier than staying. How do we handle the challenges of church life? It is always easier to be right than to be helpful. Bearing with someone is a willingness to stick with them through their sin, mistakes, and offenses. Growth happens when we choose to stay through the tension. Growth is the result of a consistent commitment to progress. What next step do you need to take in your spiritual journey?visit us at: www.mygracefamily.church
Generosity was a core value of the early church. It is the Biblical model that we support the churches, leaders, and pastors who invest spiritually in us. We give from the top of the stack not the bottom of the barrel. Generosity is a spiritual gift. We are all called to give sacrificially. Some of us are given the opportunity and privilege to give in ways others can't. Do I have to trust God or do I get to trust God? You will receive more from your giving than from your keeping. Our perspective changes when we rush to give someone else our best rather than keeping it for ourselves. We give because Jesus has given so generously to us.visit us at: mygracefamily.church
Why do we sing? Singing is giving our breath back to God as a sacrifice. From the beginning, singing has been a part of worship to God. Singing connects us to other people and connects what we believe to what we remember. Worship is even more meaningful when we choose to worship through our pain.visit us at: mygracefamily.church
Church can be a loaded word. Gathering was essential in the early church. If you are a follower of Jesus you are a part of the body of Christ. Why the church in the first place? Jesus established the church as his vehicle for the Gospel. Our Christian life would be richer if our understanding of the church was deeper. Why go to church? Because we get to worship a savior who has given us life and purpose. Reorient your Sunday morning around what you get to do and not what you have to do.visit us at: mygracefamily.church
The early church was devoted to the teachings of the apostles. The church during the time of Acts was committed to fellowship and they observed communion by breaking bread with one another. The early church was also devoted to prayer. visit us at: mygracefamily.church
God endorsed Jesus through miracles - the restoration of what was broken. How do we understand the arrival of the Holy Spirit today? In order to invite people to Jesus, we need to speak their language. Be the fire someone runs to, not the fire they run from.visit us at: mygracefamily.church
How do we make decisions as followers of Jesus? Surround yourselves with the right people. The ability to make a good decision starts long before the decision needs to be made. Know what God has to say about your decision and pray. Does this decision help or hinder my ability to advance the Gospel? visit us at: https://mygracefamily.church
The book of Acts is historical, missional, and evangelistic. We can get stuck hoping for what once was, what could be, or what we want. Jesus knows how to build His Kingdom better than we do. At some point our admiring has to become inspiring. Will you sit and admire or will you live inspired?visit us at: http://www.mygracefamily.church
Why are we so lonely? As those who bear his image, we were created to exist in community. Individualism and self-reliance have become our idols. Sometimes our relationships are nice…but they stay on the surface. Sometimes our relationships are transparent, but they have a look only policy. What we need is relationships of vulnerability. Why does vulnerability help fight loneliness?Visit us at: mygracefmaily.church
As those who bear His image, we were created to exist in community. If God's plan requires community, Satan will always pursue disunity. The biblical community serves and uplifts one another. We all long to belong but we will fight to maintain our autonomy. We cannot live effective lives as followers of Jesus outside of community.visit us at: mygracefamily.church
We aren't designed to do life alone. Loneliness wreaks havoc on us physically, emotionally, and spiritually because we are operating outside of our design. God exists in community. As those who bear his image, we were created to exist in community.visit us at: mygracefamily.church
We need to stop asking God to fix our problems and start asking him to do what only he can do. When we only ask God to fix things, we don't really want to invite him into our lives. Following Jesus means putting in the work. Salvation is not an insurance policy, it's a mission statement.visit us at: mygracefamily.church
Are you eagerly waiting or impatiently expecting. Faithfulness is a sign of righteousness. When God seems silent our faithfulness is our worship. Everyone’s life is pointing somewhere. What does your life point towards? How might God use you to break an area of silence this holiday season?Pointing people to Jesus is not always easy!
What is your relationship with Silence? Sometimes God doesn't change our circumstances; he works through our circumstances. Silence or rest is necessary for the best work to be done. How will you find some holy silence this Christmas?visit us at: mygracefamily.com

Betrayal is one of the deepest wounds to heal.Being the betrayer is one of the deepest guilts to overcome. Every sin seeks to uphold our own identity while denying our connection to Jesus. We've all done something to put Jesus in the grave. Hope lives in an empty tomb. Jesus put our sin and guilt in a tomb. We need to leave it there.visit us at: mygracefamily.church
Why doesn't God keep us from experiencing difficulty in life? Following Jesus means preparing for difficult days not escaping difficult days. Prayer is our tether to hope in difficult times. True prayer requires us to submit to and accept God's will in every situation. Are your prayers guided by your flesh or by the spirit?visit us at: mygracefamily.church

End times conversations are hard. Some things we feel certain of and some things are still unclear. The end times should motivate us. Jesus often takes a hopeless situation and provides a hope-filled solution. How should we be living today in light of what we know is coming?visit us at: mygracefamily.church
Being more concerned with status than compassion is a sign of false faith. False Faith is hopeless. Jesus offers a greater calling. Pursuit of Jesus will always lead us to prioritize him and not our preference. Don't put hope in places it does not belong. Do you feel hopeful or hopeless?visit us at mygracefamily.church
The idea that we can be good enough to earn our way to heaven is not a new concept. Some people will trip over Jesus in their pursuit of God. God cares deeply about the stewardship of our resources. God measures success by the multiplication of what he has entrusted to us. Multiplication takes work and risk. Being comfortable with what we've been given will cost us the little we have. If we fail at multiplication we have failed to fulfill our mission as followers of Jesus.visit us at mygracefamily.church
Thinking you are righteousness enough to justify yourself before God is a delusion. In God’s economy a broken repentant heart is greater than the actions of moral goodness. visit us at mygracefamily.church
God cares deeply about the stewardship of our resources. Money is a tool. The way you use it either worships God or worships you. Urgency necessitates wisdom and wisdom is the currency of legacy. How will you change?visit us at: mygracefamily.church
What is most valuable to you? What we value will direct what we are willing to pursue. Do we value the same things God values? Our values reflect the values of those who valued us the most. We love, not to earn salvation, but because our loving God has given us salvation. Those who are saved don’t just know the right answers, they seek to live them out. This week I will seek to put love into action by…
Create an environment where the right things grow and the wrong things die. The only harvest that matters is the one collected by Jesus. For the follower of Jesus, our spiritual growth should be the number one seed we water. It's never too late to be good soil.
This weeks lie is "what I receive from the world will be better than what I receive from God". The truth is that God who created me and died for me made a promise to me. Why do we believe the creator of the universe wants to lie to us? The trust you place in Jesus will produce the fruit of your life.
This weeks lie is that "the truth you believe in your heart will produce the fruit you see in your life". When it comes to our resources, this is often our posture. We hold so tightly to the things we earned or that we believe is ours. By nature, we are selfish people who don’t like to share. When we understand that all we have is Gods we can give freely. The truth is that we are stewarding what is already Gods.
This weeks lie "If it comes naturally to me it must be beneficial to me". Self control means not just recognizing the consequences for me, but for others as well. The truth is that choosing what is best, not what is easiest. We elevate the moments of freedom from responsibility and we celebrate our natural desires. Freedom is only as good as what you do with it. The best things in life benefit me, my family, and my relationship with God.
This weeks lie "Gentleness is at best a suggestion and at worst a weakness". Gentleness is the awareness of how to handle something with care. The truth is that gentleness is a gift to give and a strength to wield. Being gentle reflects the very heart of Jesus and shows others that we value them.
This weeks lie is "I have to see the fruit in order to be faithful". Faithfulness is rewarded and is sacrificial. Faithfulness is not a fulfillment of duty, but an act of worship. the truth is that faithless people won't fully experience the faithfulness of God. Are you being faithful with what God has given to you?
This weeks lie "If I can be good I don't have to do good". Goodness aggressively pursues good for others and will not allow evil to persist in its presence. Doing good is not measured in achievement. Doing good is measured in impact. Here's the truth "I prove what I believe when I do what is good."
This week's lie is that "Kindness is optional based on my circumstances". Kindness isn't always free, but it is always possible. Kindness always creates more kindness. Kindness chooses to make someone's day better. Jesus is the ultimate example of extending kindness. Kindness isn't an accident it is an attitude.
This week's lie is that "If it's not fast enough, it's not good enough". When you act upon impatience you end up broken or burnt. God's timing is rarely quick, but it is always right. Don't fight the battle between God's will and your timing. Align yourself with God's will and allow him to deliver what he promised. Your patience with God is a result of the time you've spent with him.
This weeks lie is in order for life to be under control, I need to be in control. God told us the truth. But we don't believe he is big enough distrust in God leaves you wandering instead of discovering. What consumes you more, your anxious thoughts or your trust in Jesus?
This week's lie is that lasting joy comes when my actions & circumstances produce my desires. The joy we find in this world, though real, is only temporary. We take fleeting things, and we try to make them give us lasting happiness. Temporary things can only give temporary joy. Some of the ramifications of trying to force temporary things to give us lasting joy. The truth is lasting joy comes from the eternal hope found in our relationship with God. What fleeting things are you asking to give you lasting joy? What’s stopping you from holding onto the buoy of hope found in God? How can you let your joy be a blessing to others?
The soundtrack plays a huge role in how we understand the story. Throughout the summer series we will examine lies and compare them to biblical truths. This week's lie is that "Love must be earned to be returned". You can't measure love on a scoreboard keeping score creates a winner and a loser. The most awe-inspiring love is given even when we don't deserve it.
The truth you believe in your heart will produce the fruit you see in your life. At the root of every sin is a lie. Choosing to believe God is lying to you is choosing to believe Satan is telling the truth. The treasure of words in your heart will fund your decisions, actions, and habits. The soundtracks we allow to play in our heart will change the way we live.
The need for something new is one of our greatest fears. Leaving what is comfortable is scary. When we hold on to what is comfortable... we justify preference as righteousness. God calls us to act in faith and not fear.
If following Jesus hasn't cost you anything, you're probably doing it wrong. Only when I see myself through Jesus' eyes can I truly understand who I am. Faith over fear means giving up your version of the Kingdom for His.
The perception of people is one of our greatest fears. Why do the thoughts of others matter to us so much? Our pursuit of Jesus is more important than what people think of us. Sometimes we try to keep a private pursuit when Jesus calls us to a public pursuit.
What does it take for you to feel completely safe in a scary situation? Fear is the number one reason we don't take our next step in following Jesus. The loss of control is one of our greatest fears. Ultimately fear will drive us to control and rid us of compassion. Faith lives life with an open hand.
Jesus loved you enough to give you a second chance. Jesus loved you enough to carry all your shame. Jesus loved you enough not to let you stay the same. Jesus gives freely but what you do with his gift matters to him greatly. The empty grave is proof that there is another chapter in your story.
Pastor Cory reminds us that everyone is invited to the table to sit at the table, it is how we leave the table that matters. Just as the disciples shared the last supper with our Savor, we are welcome at the table and will one day will share the feast with our King.
Pastor Andrew wraps up our series on discipleship. How do others know that you know Jesus? How others know you know Jesus is not how you know you know Jesus. Knowing about Jesus, and knowing Jesus, are not the same thing.
Is the church necessary in the life of a Disciple of Jesus? Some people have a lot of hurt related to a church or church leadership. Sometimes we would rather just focus on Jesus and not worry about the drama or the hassle of church. If I can read my Bible and pray on my own do I really need church? Pastor Cory brings us week 3 of Marks of a Disciple.
Pastor Cory continues our series on discipleship. What does it look like to follow Jesus? Seeking the lost, following the Holy Spirit relentlessly and obeying God's word completely are all marks of being a disciple. Discipleship is intentional.
Pastor Cory kicks off our new series on discipleship. How do we become fishers of people in a sea that seems to have no fish? Because Jesus invested in Simon and his family, Simon was willing to listen to Jesus. We need to invest in others' lives if we are going to disciple other. Jesus is calling us to something much bigger than ourselves.
How do you decide who to trust? Jesus' authority was evident over both the spiritual as well as the physical world. How will we respond to the authority of Jesus? Give Jesus full authority over your spiritual life as well as your physical life. What is most difficult for you to give Jesus authority over?
Pastor Andrew continues our series on Hope. Have we become so comfortable with my Christian life, that we’ve stopped being a Christian on mission? Have we become so familiar with our version of Jesus that we’ve stopped pursuing Jesus?
How do we overcome temptation? Overcoming temptation means trusting God's map even when your GPS is telling you something different. Your identity will ultimately decide your response to temptation.
Pastor Cory continues our series on overcoming temptation. Your identity will ultimately decide your response to temptation. Overcoming temptation requires a complete overhaul of our identity.
Pastor Cory continues this serous focusing on overcoming temptation. Temptation is always an attempt to drive a wedge between us and God. The difference between what we want and what we need is bigger than we think. What we want can get us in trouble, but we need will produce and sustain life.
Pastor Cory continues this series with a message about John the baptist. Baptism is an essential part of the Christian faith, but where did it come from and why is it so important? This week we look at the ministry of John the Baptist and how he was integral in establishing Jesus' ministry and this key practice of Christianity.
Have you ever lost something that was valuable to you? Knowing where to look makes all the difference when something is lost. Knowing where to find hope makes all the difference when life feels hopeless. Our expectations don't dictate the actions of Jesus, and that shouldn't surprise us. Jesus didn't come to be the God we expected, he came to be the Savior we needed. When Jesus doesn't meet your expectations, expect something even greater.
Pastor Andrew continues this series asking what are you certain of? Certainty breeds hope, and hope produces action. If you are feeling confident… let your hope drive you to action.
Pastors Cory kicks off our serious on hope. Those of us who know Jesus should be the most hopeful people. If we are not people of hope, we are the blind leading the blind astray. Our hope has a name, and that name is Jesus.
Art shares a testimony as well as other members of GFC. Pastor Cory gives the message about remembering God's faithfulness. In your struggle is where God will show you his strength. Your inheritance will dictate your perspective.
Pastor Cory continues our series leading up to Christmas. He encourages us to trust that God will keep his promises. You cannot worship the King if you do not fully trust him. What fear/insecurity/control do I need to lay at the feet of Jesus?
Pastor Andrew continues our series leading up to Christmas. In the Old Testament the anticipation of the King brought hope! Is he our King, have we submitted to King Jesus and do our lives reflect that he is our King?
Cory kicks off the new series leading up to Christmas with a message about the curse of our desires. The tension we feel in life is the disrupted harmony created in the garden. The desire to be something you are not will always leave you less fulfilled. We were created to live under God's authority and in community. Will you allow Jesus to restore the harmony of your relationship with God?
Pastor Cory wraps up this serous with the question "What happens when we have no King?". Morality becomes subjective, the well-being of self is elevated over the well-being of others and solutions to problems become problems themselves. We cannot be a kingdom without a King.
Pastor Cory continues this challenging series with some more hard questions. Do we create version of God rises and falls on your circumstances? We often trade the infinite God for our finite god because he is easier to control. Are you worshiping your version of God or the true, infinite, and almighty God?
What can we learn from the world’s strongest man? Many of us know the story of Samson, but what can we learn from a man who seemed to have it all and lost everything? Pastor Andrew shares with us in week 6 of Judges.
Gideon is one of the most famous characters in the Old Testament for his unique military strategy. But sometimes success can go to our heads. This week we learn from the mistakes of one very successful Judge.
Deborah was the only female judge. At a time when men ruled the world God chose her to lead the nation of Israel. In week 4 of judges we see what God can do when we find our identity in the purpose rather than the role God has given us.
What happens when you live in a world that isn't tailored to your needs? What if you feel like you don't look the part God is asking you to play? This week we learn from the life of Ehud and what God can do when we allow him to work through our weaknesses.
Phil Bryant from Assist is with us today to lead us in Week 2 of Judges. What is at stake if we don't hand a personal faith down to the next generation? Judges 2 gives us a peek into the future if we don't.
What do we do with Judges? Judges is one of the most difficult books of the Bible to handle. It brings up questions about why God seems so violent and how these stories should impact our lives today. We're diving in to this challenging book with Pastor Andrew in week 1 of Judges.
The foundation of your faith will determine the future of your faith. This week we wrap up our What If series with a conversation from Pastor Cory on the purpose statement of GFC.
How do you handle failure? Not a fun subject to talk about...but James tells us to confess our sins and to depend on our community to pray for us. So why is the church so quick to cancel and to judge? This week we talk about the tough topic of failure and forgiveness.
Sometimes it can be tempting to cut ourselves off from people who don't think, believe, or look the same way we do. But when we do this, we lose the ability to connect with some people who don't know Jesus. What if people knew us more for what we were for rather than what we are against?
Sometimes it's easier to choose tough love over sacrificial love. Yet Jesus chose to love us sacrificially even when we deserved far worse. Are we loving people the way Jesus loves us?
What is deconstruction and what can the church do about it? In the first week of What If?, Pastor Cory starts a conversation on how the church can change its perception in culture.
We've come to the end of our Summer Love series. The final phrase Paul gives us in 1 Corinthians 13 is "Love endures through every circumstance". What we learn about God's love for us through this phrase might change us forever.
Pastor Andrew gives a message about how love never gives up and never loses faith. Love is not blind to the hard truth of reality and love does not throw in the towel. Love chooses not to despair but holds onto the possibility of the future restoration with people.
What does it mean when Paul says love never gives up? No one wants to be a quitter, but is that really what he is talking about? Today we talk about what it means to be a safe space for people and how we can carry the burdens of others.
Usually we associate love with good feelings. But sometimes love can also lead us to some difficult decisions and circumstances. So what do we do when someone we love is making poor choices or causing others to make poor choices. Paul says we are to celebrate truth and not to tolerate injustice. What should we do when these situations arise?
It’s hard to keep no record of wrongs, yet that is exactly what Paul tells us to do. Adam Nagle from The Factory Ministries shares with us this week.
Ever feel like you are walking on eggshells around someone? Do people feel that way about you? Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 13 love is not irritable…so how do we guard ourselves against dealing with people out of our irritability? Pastor Cory shares with us in week 7 of Summer Love.
Love does not demand its own way. When selfishness is in the mix, love cannot survive. Pastor Andrew brings the message this week and challenges us to set aside our rights and our freedoms for the good of others.
What did your mom teach you was rude growing up? We all probably had some things that were thought of as rude that we weren’t supposed to do. But in 1 Corinthians 13, what did Paul mean when he said Love is not rude?
This Sunday's message from pastor Corey focused on love being humble. The sermon focuses on pride in a relationship being poison and how those who are full of pride will have a hard time showing love to others.
Pastor Andrew continues our series on that focuses on the book of Corinthians. There are things that LOVE IS and there are things that LOVE IS NOT. As sinners we are blackholes of selfishness, which is the opposite of love. This message focuses on envy and how envy effects both our walk as well as those around us.
Pastor Andrew Saunders challenges us with a message of what it means to love one and other in a true biblical way. Andrew reminds us that God places people in out lives "Saint-makers" to help us grow in many ways including how to be patient with others.
This week we kick off our Summer sermon series in 1 Corinthians 13! Love can be a difficult concept to wrap our heads around especially when we us that word so often. I can say that I love my wife and that I love cheesesteaks...but it's not really the same. So, when God calls us to love, what does that mean? and Can I really love people the way that Jesus loves me? Let's start digging in together and see why Paul has so much to say about Love.
How do you ruin a BBQ? By being the person who brings up the topic no one wants to talk about. By coming on too strong with your opinions. So how do we balance being a committed follower of Jesus willing to share the Gospel and still get invited to the BBQ?
Did Jesus really claim to be God? And if so, what should be our response? Pastor Cory wraps up our Problem of Jesus sermon series this week with one of the biggest questions you may ever need to answer.
Are the parables of Jesus worth learning from? We all love a good story... but sometimes Jesus' parables can be confusing. So, how do we engage and learn from Jesus as a master storyteller? Pastor Tim brings the conversation this week.
We all celebrate the hero who puts their life on the line for someone else. But we also expect others to put us first, bend to our will and meet our expectations. Why is that? Jesus has a lot to say about the life you can have if you choose yourself, but he calls us to live for much more than our own desires. We know what we get if we are the center of our own universe, but what would life look like if we truly denied ourselves, picked up our cross, and followed Jesus?
Pastor Andrew discusses miracles. We find miracles in the bible, but do we still see miracles in the modern day? Join us to hear Andrew explore this sometimes challenging topic.
Can you trust 2,000 year old information? Typically we like to use the newest and most up to date data, but for followers of Jesus, we rely on information that is thousands of years old. So, how do we know we can trust the information in the Bible? Specifically, how do we know that the Gospels are true and what they tell us is worth following? Pastor Cory shares in week 3 of the Problem of Jesus.
Can we really believe Jesus rose from the dead? One thing is for sure, he either did or he didn't. There is no in between. And if he did...then that changes anything. Come celebrate Easter at GFC and we look at the evidence of a resurrected Jesus.
Believing in Jesus creates a personal problem. He said he came to seek the lost sinners in this world and guess what, that makes you and me sinners. No one likes to admit it, but we all know we aren't perfect and we don't just make mistakes. We actively do wrong things every day. So what is the answer Jesus offers to our problem? Check out week one of our Easter series "The Problem of Jesus".
Is how we handle our money a spiritual issue? Believe it or not, Jesus had a lot to say about money...he spoke more about money than about prayer. So why is money a touchy topic in church? Today we look at what God teaches us about how to live our lives as generous people with our resources.
Andy Mchael joins us this week to share from God's word about the power of influence. Jesus spent his life influencing people. He invested in others so they knew how much he loved them. The church is Jesus' plan for influence in the world today. Who needs your influence to know how much Jesus loves them?
How can we be generous with our most valuable asset? Time is something we cannot stop, can't get more of, and we can't take it back. In order for us to be generous with our time we must be intentional. So, what can we learn about living a generous life from Jesus?
Laodicea had it made. They were rich and had everything they needed. But they had one problem, their prosperity got in the way of their relationship with Jesus. Many of us find ourselves in the category of "having everything we need". How do we make sure the blessing's God has given us don't hinder our dependence on him?
What are Jesus' promises to a church that follows him completely? This week we take a look at the church of Philadelphia from Revelation 3 and learn what it looks like to be a church who is firmly established on Jesus.
Pastor Andrew continues our series in Revelation buy looking at the church Sardis. The focus of the message is on the church's identity in Jesus. Identity in Jesus matters more than your reputation for Jesus. Our reputation with the world will one day pass away. But our identity in Christ will last forever.
Sometimes it can be tempting to add something to our worship of Jesus that does not belong. We can knowingly or unknowingly elevate something and worship it as an equal to Jesus. That’s what the people of Thyatira were tempted to do from forces both inside and outside the church. How do we make sure we are worshiping only Jesus and nothing else?
Pastor Tim takes us into our third week looking at the churches in Revelation. As we read the letter to Pergamum we ask the question, "Am I a Christian out of convenience or conviction?"
What does the Bible say about persecution? This week we look at what Jesus has to say to the church of Smyrna in Revelation chapter 2. Jesus has some difficult words for the church but he also has a great encouragement to them. What should we do and how should we react when we face suffering and persecution in our lives? We answer that question together this week.
Pastor Cory kicks off our new sermon series where we take a look at the churches in Revelation. This week we have a conversation about the church in Ephesus and what Jesus has to say about their knowledge of Jesus and their love for others.
Pastor Andrew brings us week three of We Are GFC. The Bible says the church is like a body. Everyone has a unique role to play...so what could we accomplish if we work together? How can we all benefit if each one of us buys in and plays our part?
Can you be a follower of Jesus and decide not to be a part of the local church? In week 2 of our "We Are GFC" series, Pastor Cory answers this difficult question.
Welcome to the new year! As we step into 2022, Pastor Cory shares our focus for the year and starts our new series called "We Are GFC". Check in for the first week of the year to find out who we are and where we are going in 2022.
Exhaustion is not a fruit of the spirit...but sometimes we wear our overworked and overly busy lives as a badge of honor. This is not what Jesus calls us to as his followers. In fact, Jesus offers us rest and help with the burdens we bear. Pastor Cory wraps up our Christmas series with a look at Rest. Jesus took naps, you can too.
Shalom is a word we don't hear much in the Christian world, but it has a very deep meaning in when it comes to understanding the idea of peace. Feeling at peace can often be difficult but this week Pastor Andrew helps us understand how God has offered us peace beyond our understanding in the gift of Jesus.
It can be easy to lose hope and when things don't go the way we hoped it can be easy to think God might have it out for us. This week as we continue our Christmas conversation we learn powerful truths from the lives of Naomi and Ruth and how their hopelessness turned into hope and ultimately provided for the miracle of Christmas.
The Christmas Season is here and Pastor Cory kicks off our new series called Weary World Rejoice. This week we are talking about Joy and what it takes to have true Joy in life. Sometimes chasing happiness will only make us more weary, but there is a way to be joyful in all circumstances.

These verses are challenging and can cause some anxiety when it comes to understanding who Jesus will allow into the Kingdom of Heaven. Pastor Cory helps us understand exactly what Jesus means and what it truly means for us to live as his followers.
How much can we ask God for? What do we do if he doesn't answer the way we think is best for us? These are difficult questions and sometimes it can seem like God isn't giving us what we believe we need. But this week Pastor Andrew helps us understand that even when God answers our ask a little differently than we hoped, he has a better plan for our lives.

Living in unity with others can be difficult. As we kick off our Together series, Pastor Tim leads us in a great conversation about unity and what it means for us to live in community with those around us.
It is the final week of our Confronting Christianity series and we land on some big questions. Why does God allow suffering and how can a loving God send people to hell? These are two of the most asked questions about Christianity and it is understandable why these questions cause so much turmoil. Pastor Cory shares part of his story this week as helps us process who God is and how we should understand these two difficult aspects of the Christian faith.
Is Christianity homophobic? It is a difficult question to answer, but how should the church broach the topic of homosexuality? How should we respond to people who struggle with same-sex attraction? Pastor Andrew walks us through how followers of Jesus should respond in this arena.
Does the Bible condone slavery? It seems that way sometimes. It's hard to find a place where scripture specifically says slavery is wrong...so what do we do with that? What about women? Are they another people group that the Bible actually puts down and even makes the statement that women are less than men? How can we follow the teachings of Jesus today if he had no problem with these two issues?
Sometimes science and Christianity seem to be at odds with one another. Has science disproved Christianity? Or can science and Christianity come together and actually create a deeper understanding of God?
Does religion cause violence? The short answer?... yes. Religion, including Christianity has been responsible for some great injustices over the course of history and even in the present day. But that is not the way it should be and it is not the way Jesus called his followers to live. Tune in to a candid conversation with Pastor Cory about how we can live like Jesus at a time when hate gets more clicks than love.
Pastor Cory is back to share with us as we enter week 4 of Confronting Christianity. The question today is whether religion hinders morality. Is morality a universal principle?
