Lyme disease is a bacterial infection primarily transmitted by blacklegged ticks. Diagnosing Lyme can be difficult, many people who actually have Lyme may be misdiagnosed with other conditions. But aside from what we already know about Lyme, there are some hidden secrets behind the history of this disease.
While vacationing on Martha’s Vineyard, Kris Newby was bitten by an unseen tick. That one bite changed her life forever, pulling her into the abyss of a devastating illness that took ten doctors to diagnose and years to recover from: Newby had joined the ranks of the 400,000 Americans who are afflicted with Lyme disease each year.
She was driven to understand why this disease is so misunderstood and its patients so mistreated. This quest led her to Willy Burgdorfer, the Lyme microbe’s discoverer, who revealed that he had developed bug-borne bioweapons during the Cold War and believed that the Lyme epidemic was started by a military experiment gone wrong.
In this episode, Kris shares to us her journey of how Lyme Disease changed her life forever. How it has led her to a journey of uncovering the truth, raising awareness, and incessantly finding a cure for a disease that has been rejected by many.

I've always known that I was adopted. My parents did a great job in making sure that I felt special, picked, chosen and all of that. I had a great life, but it was time to search for my birth parents. I didn’t just find my birth mother, I also found two siblings. One of which has an amazing story to tell.
On June 25, 2021, an interview close to my heart was aired on the podcast. I brought to the podcast my biological brother, Cory Custer, who was just coming out as a transgender woman the first time we met.
Cory Lovejoy, as we know her now, shares to us her journey of how she embraced her own alignment, and how she keeps doing it everyday.
In this episode, Cory and I talk about discovering your true self, loving yourself, and accepting yourself. And how it takes real courage to do so, but it’s worth it when people resonate with the joy that it gets you.
Join me again in this heartfelt interview with my own sibling. And watch out for next week’s episode, as we check on how Cory has been doing since our interview in June. Enjoy!

A year of Second Wind has come and gone. So far, there have been 85 women and a few men I have conversed with and with whom I have built friendships with. I have learned so much and still continue to learn.
Personally, it has been a challenging year for me. Finding my own way into podcasting and how it works and how much it costs is one. Dealing with an emergency surgery for my mother for about two months and flying back and forth New Jersey was another. Lastly, having my own case of COVID in August, recovering from that and then in the beginning October, I had a horrible reaction to what I thought was monosodium glutamate, but it wasn't until I found out I had Lyme’s disease. It’s a really long journey. However, because of the Second Wind, and all of the challenges, I am a totally different person handling it.
In this episode, Anne Claessen of the Podcast Babes interviews me. We talked about the year and the lessons and the action items that I didn't even know I had learned that she brought out. And all I can say now is how blessed I feel to be able to have this platform and the fabulous people who entered my life. I have learned to be intentional, mindful and present each and every day.

Anita Yelton has had a successful career for most of her life. She traveled the world and was a consultant to a company she loved. But while all these were happening, she felt a “nudge” telling her to retire...
Despite hating her decision, she still listened to her intuition and retired. Little did she know that the reason for her retirement was actually for her husband, Tom. Tom’s Dementia diagnosis came in 2016, since then Anita has lovingly taken care of him.
In this episode, Anita shares her journey as a caregiver to her husband. And as she takes on her journey, her “nudges” became her guide to where she is today. A nudge not only told her to retire, but it also led her to write about Tom and her journey as his caregiver.
Today, from her writings, she helps others go through the same journey as hers. The nudge she considers a message from God, has helped not only herself but others too.
Tomorrow starts a whole new day, a new experience, a new issue, or another thing to love. And so within this day, and see what tomorrow brings. - Anita

Jenn Kautsch was never really a drinker. In fact, she always followed the rules, until having a drink with her friend during happy hour became a defining moment.
From one glass of wine, she became a ‘grey area drinker’. Jenn would have a glass of wine at wine o'clock and it became part of her routine. It may have seemed harmless in the beginning, but as it became a habit, it caused anxiety and an internal turmoil was brewing inside her.
In this episode, Jenn talks about her journey to an alcohol free lifestyle. How she broke off the wine o'clock habit and took control of her life. And as she became sober minded, she made it her mission to help other women renegotiate their relationship with alcohol w/o labels, shame, judgment or rules.

Heather Burgholt always had a strong foundation of faith. Instilled at a very young age, Heather grew up trusting God.
Everything was going well for Heather, a successful ballet dance career, job opportunities opening up, marrying the love of her life and eventually becoming a mother to Emma. She was happily fulfilling her duty as a mom when they discovered their daughter was suffering from Lyme’s disease.
In this episode, Heather shares how her faith remained a constant in her life despite trials. Job loss and her daughter’s sickness has been a long painful journey, but if anything else, it has made their family closer to each other.
Lyme’s disease has also created an opportunity for her to re-discover her creativity through art. Her paintings on woodwork opened doors of opportunities for her and her family, and brought joy to the people who brought home her art.
The biggest lesson is in those hard times. There's still more until we take our last breath, there is still more for us to do, and there's still more if we can just be patient. - Heather

Janice McDermott has written a couple of memoirs. One of her books, called Resilience, talks about how she left the convent to step into another direction, far from what she learned as a nun.
In this episode, Wendy and Janice talk about her life as soon as she stepped out of the convent. Teaching in school, becoming a leader despite being a woman in her time, and eventually becoming a life coach.
In this interview, Janice will tell her story on how one nun transitioned into a different direction. An unexpected turn of events, but events that have honed her into a successful woman, author and life coach today.

Self care is important but it takes time. It's not a race, it's not a sprint, it's a marathon. You have to train your mind and body to be sustainable. In this crazy world, it is paramount to have a purpose and direction. How to do that? By living an intentional life and taking care of ourselves.
The death of her brother and best friend Roy pulled Annie Singh Quern into writing her first book, Journey into Simple Living: Self-Care Practices for Busy Women. She dedicates the book to all women who are courageous enough to embark on their own journey. A lot of women balance careers and home life, wearing different hats, which makes self care extremely important.
"Success is not acquiring the things you think you need to live. Success is learning that you don't need the things right to live."

“I remember drinking was great. Because if you drink, you don't have to have any feelings, which you're going through this life of trying to be the perfect person, but you really don't know who you are. So drink. And then you don't have to. So it was such an escape.“
Heidi Roemer’s story is not an easy one to tell, but I really feel like it's gonna reach out and help a lot of people.
At an early age of 12, she was already looking for ways to deal with life circumstances. Being exposed to the environment she was in, she left no stone unturned. The death of a family member and a close friend made her think of one solution, suicide. Until that one call for help paves way for better things for her.

"Infinite souls have a temporary human experience. It's just one heart, one soul seeing another heart and soul." A heartfelt interview with my own sibling. Her own second wind.
I've always known that I was adopted. My parents did a great job in making sure that I felt special, picked, chosen and all of that. I had a great life, but it was time to search for my birth parents. I didn’t just find my birth mother, I also found two siblings. One of which has an amazing story to tell.
I welcome my full blood sister Cory Custer on Second Wind today. We’re talking about her transition and transformation to a better self and acceptance to her new life.
Cory embraces her own alignment. She keeps doing it, day in and day out .
In this interview Cory and I talk about discovering your true self, loving yourself, and accepting yourself. It takes real courage to do so, but it’s worth it when people resonate with the joy that it gets you. Tune in to hear Cory’s story.

This is a little unusual, because it’s just me in this episode. I've never really felt the need or the reason to record a solo episode, and I don't want to be somebody that just pontificates about my own lessons in life and blahdy-blah. I really want to talk about and with other women and other people doing modalities that raise us all up, bring us to our highest selves and all that good stuff.
That's really the premise of what I'm doing, but this episode is an exception. After scrubbing some toilets to deal with my sadness, frustration, embarrassment, and feeding all the farm animals. I'm jumping on the microphone.

And so what happens is, it gives them a foundation to walk out of my office, and have a refreshing look at life, and have purpose. Ever wondered why you are here on this Earth? What is your true identity? Is there a big purpose for life? In this episode, we invite Intuitive Astrologer Murphy MacCanless to share with us how Intuitive Astrology and Tarot Card Reading has helped her answer the big questions in life. Driven by a curiosity to understand human nature, Murphy has been using her gifts to connect people with their highest selves. Tune in to find out how she uses trauma to transform people, her reading processes, as well as how she discovered her love and passion for Astrology!
KEY POINTS / MAIN TAKEAWAYS:
QUOTABLES:
“I always have had this drive to try to understand why people do what they do and what motivates them and astrology is perfect for that. Because when it's applied in its highest practice, it teaches us how to understand ourselves deeper and then to see other perspectives that we otherwise wouldn't possibly know how to comprehend.”
“When you have a whole lot of deep trauma, you can't really be intuitive in your life, let alone in anyone else's. Because that trauma sort of stacks itself on top of your intuition and cuts you off from it. And so the more you deny that trauma, the more you deny that pain, the more you are denying access to that higher part of yourself.”
