In this episode, we chat about the importance of upholding a spirit of joy amidst all the struggles we experience. As Catholics, we can allow the negative events of the world and our lives to bring us down. However, we reflect on the truth that Jesus has already won the battle and walks with us through all our trails. Knowing this truth, we ought to go back to basics and remember that a true Christian is one who is always joyful! "A Christian is never bored or sad. Rather, the one who loves Christ is full of joy and radiates joy" - Pope Francis We hope you enjoy and God bless xxx Love, Faith & Elisha

Sometimes we perceive the Catholic faith as having "too many terms and conditions" - rules and regulations imposed by God in order to restrict our human freedom. However, it is this very misconception that causes many of us to rebel against the laws of God, fall into sin and ultimately live an unhappy life. In this week's episode, we chat about the need to shift our perception of God's commandments, understanding that they are guideposts towards a happier and holier life here on earth. We must recognise that when we sin, we are running away from true freedom and joy. We also discuss the beauty of the sacrament of Confession as a key stepping stone towards restoring our inner peace and happiness.

"In fact, my children, it is sin that brings upon us all calamities...all that makes us miserable" - St John Vianney

Imagine how disordered the world would be if we acted solely on our emotions, such as skipping work everyday to sleep in, simply because we "feel" like it. In the same way, acting solely on our emotions can cause disorder in our spiritual lives. Whilst emotions are a normal aspect of the human psyche, sometimes we can allow them to dictate our relationship with God. In this week's episode, we chat about the struggles of remaining faithful to God even when we do not experience emotional consolation. We also delve deep into the importance of resilience during moments of spiritual dryness and the way in which these trials can become a springboard towards sanctification.

"It is precisely in times of spiritual dryness that we must hold on to our spiritual discipline so that we can grow in new intimacy with God" - Henri Nouwen.

As we sit in Mass every Sunday, the goal of glorifying and loving God is at the forefront of our mind. However, does this same goal remain with us as we step foot outside the Church? In this week's episode, we chat about the struggles of remaining sincere in our love for God, particularly in our everyday activities and interactions with others. We open up about our own personal experiences of being true to who we are, both inside and outside of Church, and how we can remain genuine to the teachings of the faith especially amongst our friends.

"The Christian life is a continuation and completion of the life of Christ in us. We should be so many Christs here on earth, continuing His life and His works" - St John Eudes

How often have we heard the statement, "I want him to be 6'4", have blue eyes and good humour"? Whilst there is nothing wrong with having physical attractions, is 6'4", blue eyes and good humour enough to lead your soul to Heaven? In this week's episode, we chat about the over-romanticisation and superficiality of "marriage" promoted in our modern culture, a view which can prevent us from understanding the true essence of the sacrament. This topic was inspired by our own parents and the authentic love, sacrifice and joy we witness in their marriage. We are incredibly grateful for their advice and wisdom, as it has ultimately shaped our perception of this beautiful vocation, helping us navigate our own discernment. We hope you find their words of wisdom just as useful as we did.

"The state of marriage is one that requires more virtue and constancy than any other; it is a perpetual exercise in mortification." - St Francis de Sales

Welcome to the first episode of "Take The Lead" podcast! There is no doubt that the world we live in can get very noisy. We are constantly being bombarded with stimuli in this digital age, making it difficult to find a moment of silence. Whilst we cannot always achieve exterior silence, we can always work towards cultivating interior silence. This interior silence or spirit of recollection, allows us to redirect our thoughts and hearts to the things of Heaven even in the midst of chaos. Join us as we unpack the power and beauty of this silence, but also delve into the many reasons why we are sometimes afraid of it.

"God speaks in the silence of the heart. Listening is the beginning of prayer" - Saint Mother Teresa
