Early Monday morning on August 15th 2022, I received a text from John Thompson III. A little while afterwards, former Princeton teammate of mine Mitch Henderson called. Forever Tigers and holding the best of memories between us, I wasn’t thrilled to hear from either of them. They both carried the sad news that our Coach—Pete Carril—had passed away. An immense legacy of winning, innovation and precision and the transformative impact of the greatest teacher that many of us have encountered in our lives, there aren’t enough words to encapsulate Pete Carril’s influence. We won’t attempt to do so. Instead, myself, my right hand man Princeton grad and former Princeton graduate assistant coach Lawrence “L-Boogie” Schuler and Jon Solomon--lifelong Princeton Basketball fan, creator of PrincetonBasketball.com and chief-in-game correspondent for THE Ivy League Hoops Hour--will share our initial memories, stories and feelings regarding the loss of…The Coach. This our tribute: an end of summer, impromptu edition dedicated solely to the late Hall of Fame basketball coach, legend and patriarch of the Princeton Basketball family, Pete Carril. This is THE Ivy League Hoops Hour.
