You will be so inspired by Sarah's story

I love when people share their stories. How they survived divorce, how they survived cancer how they've survived not having any money, and how they found that money did not make them happy. When you hear these stories it makes you realize that you can do be anything that you want.

Sarah is a complete motivator, a person who gets things done.

Sarah shares with us some of her deep raw, emotions about having everything husband really good job money house a gorgeous son. To losing everything losing her husband losing her business, going bankrupt, losing her health/

“How do you come back from that?” was one of the questions I asked her

“How can you be happy again”

“How can you come back from what people think of you?”

Sarah did this!!! She built it all back up again. Sarah explained that with the help of her family and her closest friends, she built back up a 7 figure business and has various other projects on the go.

Sarah is a true entrepreneur and inspirational person.

I love that Sarah is giving back to other women the way she explains that when you're at the top of your game you think you can't look for help and show vulnerability.

Sarah offers a safe space for you to seek help. This is not an easy thing to do that is a very powerful thing to do.

Don't forget to buy Sarah’s book The I Can method - it will help you figure things out in your life, from childhood, being a single mum, surviving cancer, going through menopause, anxiety, and depression. Welcome to Women's Health Matters Podcast, I'm your host Lucy Townsley a women's health consultant. Don't forget to get a copy of my free ebook Menopause Made Easy➡️ here

Louise gave up her job to coach small to medium size businesses. Louise is a single parent.

Louise teaches us that you need to have a plan. I agree with this cause if you are anything like me, you quickly get distracted.

Louise emphasizes the importance of networking so you are not alone. To have a purpose or have a reason why you're in a network it could be friendships it could be the people in it who empower you. We talk about how powerful a tool coaching is for your health, life, and business. The fear behind hiring a coach. How coaching creates clarity and it's you who gets in the flow.

I love the way Louise explains the difference between mentoring and coaching and the way fear can hold us back.

Louis is full of life and energy and you will be too when you listen.

Notable quotes

Mentoring is different from coaching and different from counseling and is all needed at the appropriate times.

Find your area of strength.

Asking the right questions.

Has your action got you to the place you want to be?

Have you ever wondered what your life is about?

Or wonder what your soul's purpose is?

Did you know that your date of birth and your name could give you all those answers? I didn't until my chat today with Grainne. I'm going to have it done, so watch this space and I will let you know how I get on.

On today's podcast, Grainne Tyndall explains all. How Numerology the ancient science of numbers and a soul session along with Grainne's intuitive gifts can help you discover how worthy you are and why you are here on this planet. Grainne herself was catapulted into her awakening from grief, through healing, she found her soul’s purpose. Now, she shares her gifts with us today and the clients she helps around the world, guiding them to find their purpose and truth in their journeys.

It can be hard dealing with self-worth and self-acceptance and accepting support from others. There is a beautiful perspective once you realize that trauma, grief, loss, and the process of healing can often be the first step in your soul's journey to purpose, passion, and living your truth

This sends tingles down my spine when Grainne says "we are all worthy of being here on this planet."

I think in our busy lives we can forget to look after ourselves and lose who we are.

Listen to today's incredibly informative show subscribe and share with your friends.

Grainne Tyndall is an International Numerologist based in the sunny southeast of Ireland. Grainne has helped thousands of people around the globe for over 2 years to discover and uncover their true soul purpose. Have you been in a position where you have no idea what to do?

This was Seamus Power.

Seamus is the youngest of his siblings and he followed the path that was set out for him by his parents and what life expected of him. School, college, job, marriage, house, family.

Seamus loved his job in the corporate world and was earning a lot of money, but his home life was suffering. As a lot of us do, we ignore what is going on in hope that it will be ok or even go away. Does this sound familiar to you?

Everything was going along fine in Seamus's head and his world until he started to gain a lot of weight and got severe migraine headaches. I think this is an incredible story because most of us ignore what is going on, or we think about it and it's too hard to face. I know this feeling because I have been there myself. It is not easy.

When you break things into small pieces you can do anything as Seamus goes on to tell us.

Seamus got to work and asked himself some questions.

Who am I?

What do I stand for?

What am I missing here?

These answers don't become clear until you take the time to feel into your heart and head at the same time.

Seamus's words of wisdom are very inspirational and have been life-changing.

Notable Quotes

Slowly connecting to yourself helps release the fear inside of you

What is most important to you shouldn't be ignored

Don't be afraid to explore who you really are

Breathing is a rapid master reset

Today on the Women Health Matters podcast I'm joined by the amazing Dr. V.

We have a great chat about hormones. To not just go for HRT or the pill but to see what other options are available to you. I love that Dr. V is open to trying to help you with whatever it takes to get you back into full health both mentally and physically.

At the beginning of the podcast, we both agree that there is a need for all types of medicine western and eastern.

Don't forget to hit that subscribe button 💪

Dr. Varnado left her traditional career of almost 20 years in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2021 to address the broken healthcare system, which currently puts the most resources into treating symptoms, when it really needs to address the root cause of diseases. Through her years of practice, she has realized that many know what it takes to be healthy but outside of a support system their efforts rarely yield the desired outcome because their environments often reinforce poor habits. Her focus now is to help others achieve optimal mental and physical health by focusing on lifestyle-based treatment, which she believes, could prevent and manage most ailments.

This shift was born from starting her podcast in November 2020, Office Visits with Dr.V, where she not only educates women about their gynecologic health and how their bodies function but also about their overall health and wellness.

Dr. Varnado was born and raised in North Carolina and has been living out a childhood dream of taking care of women of all ages as an Ob/Gyn. She is a proud graduate of Hampton University and The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. She completed her Ob/Gyn residency at Tulane University in New Orleans, LA, where she learned how to be an excellent surgeon and physician. Being a mother of two, having a marriage of 17 years, a supportive family, and a strong relationship with God are keys to her success.

Today we are talking Sex and Menopause with Kath Berry.

This subject is not out in the open, it gets brushed under the carpet. I have to say it used to make me squirm in my seat.

BUT NOT ANYMORE!!!

Enjoying sex in your 50's is normal.

Men don't care about the issues in your head before you have sex. Like you don't like what you see in the mirror, you've gained weight or you haven't shaved your legs.

They just want to intermit with you.

We are the queen of excuses when it comes to sex in our 50s, we are too tired, don't have the energy, not the right time, the kids are around, and you might be looking after an elderly parent. ARRR.

How do you put yourself first and enjoy sex like you did when you were young? Have a listen to this podcast to find out.

A little bit about Kath she is a Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner author, and educator in all things women's health.

Welcome to the Women's Health Matters podcast please subscribe to the channel. Please share with your friends.

This episode bought tears to my eyes, especially when Catherine started to sing. So powerful.

Today's episode is about abusive relationships an incredibly sensitive topic and I'm joined by Catherine Ferin.

Catherine is open and honest and talks about her mother and father's abusive relationship when she was growing up.

She talked about the forgiveness that she had for her father. The braveness of her mother leaving her father in her 60s and the happy life that she lived.

Catherine has worked in this field for the last 25 years; she is informative and helpful to anyone that needs support.

I think when we're in this situation we can become really embarrassed, that this has happened to us.

We weren’t strong enough to fix things.

My most important message to you is reaching out for help doesn't mean a weakness it just shows strength grit and determination that you want to change your life for the better.

Take Care

Welcome to the Women's Health Matters podcast please subscribe to the channel and share with your friends. If need to talk to me about Perimenopause click here

Today I'm joined by a good friend Alex Koster, whom I have known for the last 20 years and she totally shocked me with her life story.

Alex has written the best-selling book Roots and Wings.

Alex shows us how mindfulness and nature can reconnect us back to ourselves by -

Spending time outdoors.

Relationships with animals and natural elements.

Awareness of the origin of our food, clothes, and other everyday items.

Creative connection through poetry, dance/movement, painting, writing, and other aspects of the arts.

Nutrition and natural medicine.

Gardening.

Mindfulness in and about Nature.

Social and environmental activism.

Spiritual rituals and connection.

I've known Alex for a long time, this is the first time I found out that she suffered so badly from panic attacks in her 30s. She kept them very hidden from her friends. She described them as feeling like she was going to die.

Alex found it hard to get the answer to what was going on. She found it very tough to get help from her GP. No one suggested trying alternative medicine like acupuncture, herbs, life coaching, or homeopathy.

She talks about the disconnect between the GP and other therapies that can help you.

Alex talks of the loneliness of her journey.

More importantly how she turned her life around and is now running her own business.

In today's podcast, I'm chatting to the amazing Clair Auchmuty

Clair is from Oranmore in Galway but moved to Northern Ireland when she meet her now ex-husband. She has two gorgeous boys.

Have you ever asked yourself?

Are you happy in your relationship?

Could it be better or has it come to an end?

We all know the feeling when our relationship isn't going in the direction we want it to. We haven't got that happy feeling. Lost the connection and communication that is so important in a relationship.

Feeling a lack of love and support from our partners/husbands.

Clair helps you improve your relationship with yourself first. Self-love improves all environments. If need be Clair finds a way to end the relationship in the best interest of both people.

In the words of Gwyneth Paltrow "to unconsciously uncouple" in a way that you both win.

I would have loved this support when I separated from my partner. To understand that some things just can't be fixed.

"What are your values?" Clair didn't know what her values were. Clair had to google what could her values be.

"Do they fit into your relationship?"

Clair asked a lot of soul-searching questions?

Think you are going to love this episode.

I'm joined today by a brand new author Catriona Briggs Evens she has written a book victim to victor.

How being vulnerable is a strength.  We had a brilliant chat about....

How Depression and anxiety suck, and epilepsy sucks.    The mental fallout after cancer sucks.

Catriona says "One of the hardest things to do is ask for and then accept help".

What if you had a map?  What if there were signposts?

What if you too could go from the victim, Catriona chose to transition from victim to victor.

The resources she did have helped her discover her superpower of vulnerABILITY.   In 'being vulnerABLE', she speaks openly, sharing her experiences and innermost thoughts.

More importantly, she shares what she learned along the way, her techniques and tools which helped her transition from victim to victor in the hope that she may help you go from living life in the dark to living a positive, fulfilling life of joy.

Today I'm joined by Lynette she is one of the bravest people I've met. Lynette is married with two gorgeous boys.

We have all been touched by cancer in our lives either personally or with a loved one or a friend.

My sister was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma when she was just 23 and has been in remission for the last 20 years.

Lynette had a pain in her left breast one weekend she was away with her family and went to see her GP when she got home, was referred for a mammogram.

Lynette was diagnosed with breast cancer.

What I didn't know is that you can get two types of breast cancer at the same time. Did you know this?

Lynette shares her story of how she fought the biggest fight. THE FIGHT for her life!!

She fought the system to get the right treatment for her.

She turned to mindfulness, gut health, eating what was right for her body, sleep, stepping back from the life she was living, and creating one where the glass was half full, not empty.

Giving up her job. Started her own business producing gut-saving bone broth. Booked a once in a lifetime holiday for her family and her battle to make that trip

The message here is to make sure you get regular breast checks and if you are worried go and get professional help, please.🧡

• Are you struggling to lose weight?

• Have tried all the diets but they don’t work?

Did you know that you do have to eat quite a lot to lose weight? A lot of the right foods.

Quite a lot of us are deficient in certain minerals and vitamins.

We go around tired all the time and don’t know why. Or we can’t sleep.

Eating the wrong foods, processed or too much sugar creates inflammation in our body, pain in the joints, sinus, headaches to name a few.

Your pancreas and spleen have to work so hard to digest sugar and processed foods. Send it to the liver and kidneys to be excreted.

There is a Doctor in Chinese Medicine called Sun Su Mio who quotes “What you can’t fix with food then you turn to medicine”

Today I’m joined by Sandra Miskimmin who shares her story, of how she turned her life around with the power of food.

She spent the whole of her second and third pregnancy stuck in bed with pain. AHHH!!!

Sandra went from being clinically obese and suffering from chronic back pain, asthma, allergies, migraines, exhaustion, and hormonal imbalances.

To be fit and healthy. Running up and down the stairs and enjoying life.

Have a listen here to see how she did this.

In today's podcast, I’m joined by Patrick Mecier.

Close your eyes for a moment and think what it would be like to have a life while earning a living.

I met Patrick through a networking group called YourHolistic Academy I heard him tell his story about his school days and being told he was too intelligent as a child.

I’m like….How can you be too intelligent as a child??!!!

Patrick shares how he went from burnout, stress, chest pains thinking he was having a heart attack to becoming a life coach and a holistic business coach.

When anyone here's the word holistic they think it wo wo.

But I’m here to tell you that it’s life-changing in both your home and work life. Whether you work for someone or you own your own business.

Here are two things to ask yourself.

Instead of Earning a Living to Have a Life, you get to Have a Life While Making a Living. How would that sound to you?

Welcome to Women's Health Matters want a chat with me about any women's issues just click here https://calendly.com/lucytownsleyhealth/womenshealthdiscoverycall In today's podcast,

Janice Tucker and I are talking about the benefits of Qigong.

Janice shares her 4 Simple Tips To

  1. Annihilate Anxiety

  2. Extinguish Exhaustion

  3. Minimise Mind Chatter

  4. Help Boost Immunity

Qigong is a different type of exercise where you don’t force your body to move.

You use your breath and mind to lead the body’s movement. This can be helpful if you suffer from pain.

Breathing is a huge part of Qigong. When you breathe in deeply and feel the belly expand out. The diaphragm will then move in different directions, sideways, forwards, backward, up, and down.

The benefits of breathing are huge...

Breathing brings energy to your body called Qi in Chinese Medicine. Breathing in and out of the nose helps calm the mind and helps with anxiety. Do you have a place in your body that is painful?

Janice explains how breathing into the area can help ease the pain.

In this podcast, it's made very clear that anyone can learn how to turn their health around. That you can be in control of your life. Once you start on this journey it helps ease the worry of future health concerns.

Janice is a Lic Tradition Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture, Medical Qigong also has a degree in Zoology and is a secondary school science teacher.

Do you look in the mirror and not like what you see. You are not alone.

I think it is doubly hard when you are scrolling through your phone and all you see are perfect images of your friends or models. For one thing, most people use a filter. I have to say I haven’t yet worked out how to use a filter.

I believe we need to reframe what we think about ourselves and the way we look.

When we look into the mirror instead of hating what we see. Thank your body for standing up, breathing, smiling back at you, your brain for all the wonderful things it does every day. That’s another email in itself all about the brain. Haha.

Yes we may have a tummy now or our hips are wobbly but they are you. Without our bodies, where would we be?

Today I’m joined by best-selling author and Ireland got curves Sharon D she shares her story of body image.

How she changed the way she looks at herself when she looked in the mirror.

Stopped emotional eating, and got the courage to love herself again.

Happy women’s day.

My heart and thoughts are with those women and their families in Ukraine. The stress of what they are going through. As well as coping with menopause symptoms.

Did you know that stress can increase your menopause symptoms?

I know a lot of us are past our childbearing years. But you could have a daughter or a friend about to have a baby and this podcast will help them prepare for their pregnancy and the birth of their child.

Today's podcast is with Doula Coach Nicola.

I see lots of ladies going through IVF, ICSI, or trying naturally to have a baby. The joy that they feel when they find they are going to be parents is fabulous. But fear can set about their pregnancy and pending birth.

I remember being pregnant with my first baby who is now 25 Hannah. I had the flattest tummy for the first 20 weeks no one would believe me that I had a baby in there. I had doughts myself at times only the scans I had convinced me. I was very scared about the birth, you hear every horror story.

I'm so honored to have met Nicola. Nicola is a Doula Coach and in this podcast, she shares how she helps women thorugh pregnancy and helps prepare them for their birth, and supports them through pregnancy. Supports them when they have had their baby and have come home.

Nicola shares the importance of the two weeks after having your baby that you need to rest and recover.

Nicola is a birth and postnatal doula supporting, helping, and encouraging pregnancy and new mummies in Northern Ireland.

"I want my clients to know that there are options and choices when it comes to their birth".

"I'm there to support them no matter what their preferences are, or how their birth unfolds".

As parents transition to their expanding family, I am available to help with the everyday tasks that tend to take a back seat, be a sounding board for any questions or concerns and assist with breastfeeding if needed. It is my privilege and honor to be invited into this very sacred space of pregnancy, birth, and early motherhood.

How many of you don’t go to the toilet every day. When I say go to the toilet I’m not talking about going for a pea I’m talking about doing a poo.

Many women in their early 40’s/50’s, suffer in silence with pelvic floor problems.

Crossing their legs to sneeze or cough, going to the toilet a lot during the day or up at night. The worst and most embarrassing one is leakage. Today we are going to lift the lid of this Taboo subject.

The pelvic floor has affected me. I noticed it after my third child while at a family occasion. I was dancing and jumping around enjoying the craic and suddenly! I could feel a small amount of pee leaking down my leg. I ran to the toilet, but I was so conscious and embarrassed that this had happened to me! That I was distracted for the whole evening.

The pelvic floor issue can affect women of all ages and it doesn’t just happen if you have had kids.

The pelvic floor also affects men

Today I’m talking to Pelvic Floor expert Louise Fynes. Click here to listen. Louise is a Chilates Coach, Performance Coach and has just moved back to Ireland from Holland where she lived and worked for 21 years. Since her return, Louise has set up a Chilates studio in Loughrea Co Galway where she gives Chilates, Pilates, Strength and conditioning training, and senior fit along with several different massages and sports therapies.

What is Chilates I hear you ask?

According to Louise chilates is a program in which Pilates forms the basis, where extra exercises are added that promote the chi/qi or energy, work is done on health, and the resolution of blockages within the chi. The functioning of our organs is stimulated, in turn stimulating the blood circulation. Attention is given to prevention by stretching muscles to avoid injuries or discomfort in the future. The mobility and stability of the joints are improved, and connective tissue is hydrated.

I had a wonderful chat this week with Jacqui Taaffe.  We talked about limiting beliefs.  Stuff you say in your head to yourself.

Jacqui is the best selling author of Enspire Heal Enpower

Your friends and family don’t look at you and your thoughts the way you think, they don’t see you as limited they see you as kind-hearted and generous.  I bet if you asked them what they truly think about you the replies you get will be all good.

We all have two fears in life –

The fear of not being good enough

The fear of not being loved.

My question to you is what holds you back?  What are the fears you have created in your life that stop's you from trying something new?

This may seem a strange thing to talk about from a menopause point of view but these are things that stress us.  But the fear of not being good enough comes into play a lot during menopause.  What will they think of me as I have a hot flush or can feel the sweat dripping down my forehead?

It can take over how we think and view things.  I sincerely would like to share with you - "You can do and be anything you want".  You can achieve anything you want whether your goals are big or small.
