The goal of this podcast is to help build up and encourage women of faith to pursue their callings and creative passions.
In today’s episode, we’re diving into a powerful conversation about what it truly looks like to bring your faith boldly into the marketplace. I had the honor of sitting down with Jenevy Sims, a dynamic business leader, strategic consultant, and the visionary behind The Evolve Firm, Proverbs & Profits, and several faith-centered leadership initiatives.
If you are a woman who feels called to build, lead, and influence… yet sometimes wonders how to honor God while pursuing your professional goals, this conversation is going to breathe fresh courage into you.
Jenevy shares her journey of integrating faith with business even in spaces that don’t always welcome faith-based conversations. She opens up about the resistance she has faced, the obedience that shaped her path, and the biblical wisdom that continues to ground her as she leads, speaks, and builds community.
Together, we explore how to show up authentically for Christ in our work without striving or shrinking back and how to lead with a Kingdom mindset in every room God calls us into.

Do you ever feel like your mind is constantly buzzing with to-do lists, worries, and distractions? If so, you're not alone. In this episode of Uniquely You with Destiny Pickens, Destiny explores how mental clutter can rob us of peace, clarity, and the ability to hear from God. She offers practical, biblically grounded strategies to help you create mental space and emotional balance.
Destiny shares four transformative steps that support a decluttered and spiritually centered mind. First, she emphasizes the importance of mindful surrender, encouraging listeners to give their worries to God through intentional prayer, as described in Philippians 4:6-7. Next, she introduces the concept of decluttering your thought life with tools like a “brain dump” and the “Philippians 4:8 Test” to help filter thoughts through a biblical lens.
She also highlights the power of stillness and reflection, referencing Psalm 46:10, and encourages daily moments of quiet to better connect with God. Lastly, Destiny discusses how simplifying commitments can significantly reduce mental stress, helping you align your time and energy with what truly matters.
Throughout the episode, listeners are reminded that Jesus modeled the importance of rest and solitude, often withdrawing to pray and reflect, as seen in Luke 5:16. By following His example, we too can cultivate emotional clarity and make wiser decisions.
Destiny challenges her audience to reflect on whether they are reacting out of stress or responding with wisdom. She encourages everyone to choose one strategy from the episode and implement it throughout the week as a step toward greater peace and purpose.

In this third and final installment of our "Growth Goals Series," host Destiny Pickens explores the importance of professional growth goals for Christians. Building on the foundation laid in the previous episodes on personal and spiritual growth, this episode delves into how believers can approach career development with a Christ-centered mindset.
The Story of Joseph
Destiny begins by examining the story of Joseph from the book of Genesis, highlighting key principles for professional growth:
Practical Applications
1. Align Your Career with God's Purpose
Exercise: Write down three ways your current or desired profession can be used to serve God and others.
2. Identify Your God-Given Talents and Strengths
Exercise: List five of your strengths and pray for guidance on how to develop and use them in your professional life.
3. Set SMART Goals Grounded in Biblical Principles
Exercise: Create three professional goals for the next 12 months. For each goal, find a supporting Bible verse. Recite both the goal and scripture aloud each morning.

As we embark on a new year, it's the perfect time to reflect on our faith journey and set intentional goals for spiritual growth. In this second installment of our three-part "Growth Goals Series," we explore how to align our aspirations with God's plan for our lives.
The Importance of Spiritual Goals
Setting spiritual goals goes beyond personal improvement—it's about drawing closer to God and living out His purpose for us. By creating spiritual goals, we make a conscious commitment to prioritize God in all aspects of our lives.
This intentional focus helps us:
Strengthen our relationship with God
Develop a more consistent prayer life
Increase our understanding of Scripture
Apply biblical principles to our daily lives
Cultivate spiritual disciplines
Ultimately, it's about transforming our entire way of living to align with God's will.
Steps to Set Effective Spiritual Goals
Pray and Reflect: Before setting any goals, dedicate time to prayer and seek God's guidance. Ask Him to reveal areas where He wants you to grow, ensuring that your goals align with His will.
Be Specific and Measurable: Instead of vague goals like "read the Bible more," opt for specific objectives.
Make Goals Achievable: Set goals that challenge you but remain within reach. Remember, growth is a process, not a race. Start with small, attainable goals and gradually increase their complexity as you progress.
Align with Biblical Values: Ensure your goals are grounded in Scripture and align with God's teachings.
Review and Adjust Regularly: Set aside time periodically to review your progress and adjust your goals as needed. This flexibility allows you to respond to God's leading and changes in your life circumstances.

Today we're tackling a topic that plagues so many of us - procrastination. We've all been there, putting things off until the last minute, letting tasks pile up, and then feeling stressed and overwhelmed. But do you know the real root cause behind why You procrastinate?
In todays episode we will dive into that plus Destiny shares some practical tips for overcoming this productivity-killing habit once and for all.
Procrastination is often rooted in deeper fears, such as the fear of failure, fear of not being good enough, or even fear of success. When we avoid a task, we don't have to face those fears head-on. Procrastination gives us a false sense of security and control.
To overcome procrastination, we need to:
Ask yourself: "What am I afraid of regarding this task or goal?" Journal about your thoughts and analyze if they hold any truth or align with your values and vision.
Fear is a natural human emotion, but it should not be the driving force behind our decisions and actions.
Visualize the task as a staircase, and focus on taking one step at a time.
Recognize that the potential rewards of facing challenges outweigh the temporary discomfort.

As a believer, embodying your identity in Christ is crucial as it serves as the foundation for shaping your core beliefs, values, and actions. It is not enough to simply believe in Him; you must actively demonstrate His love, grace, and teachings in everything you do.
To help you authentically reflect your faith in your daily life, here are four key ways in which you can embody your identity in Christ:
Love: Show love and compassion to others, just as Jesus did during His time on earth.

Love is an extraordinary force that possesses the ability to change lives and bring about meaningful transformations in the world. It goes beyond being just an emotion; it is a conscious choice and a powerful action. In this episode Destiny emphasizes that by embracing love, we can experience profound personal growth and contribute positively to our communities.
Loving God:
The first pillar of love is loving God. This foundation is rooted in the belief that connecting with a higher power and experiencing divine love can bring immense purpose and fulfillment to our lives. By nurturing our relationship with God, we can tap into a limitless source of love and draw strength from it in our daily lives.
Loving Yourself:
The second pillar focuses on the importance of loving yourself. Self-love is not selfish but rather a vital aspect of personal growth. By practicing self-compassion, we become better equipped to extend love and kindness to others.
Loving Others:
The third pillar the significance of extending love to those around us. By fostering genuine connections and acts of kindness, we can create a ripple effect of love that positively impacts our communities and the world.

In this episode of the Uniquely You Podcast, host Destiny Pickens delves deep into the concept of unconditional love and how it can be embraced in our daily lives. While unconditional love may seem elusive in a world filled with conditions and expectations, Destiny explores how we can experience God's perfect acceptance and love without boundaries.
Three practical ways to embrace God's unconditional love:
Acceptance: It is crucial to accept ourselves just as we are, recognizing that we are loved and accepted by God unconditionally. By understanding our inherent worth, we can let go of self-doubt and embrace the truth that we are fearfully and wonderfully made.
Self-Love: Showing ourselves the love we deserve is essential. This includes taking care of our spiritual needs, physical health, and emotional well-being. By prioritizing self-care, we can nurture our relationship with God and experience His unconditional love in a more profound way.
Forgiveness: Letting go of grudges, resentments, and past failures is vital to fully experience God's unconditional love. By forgiving ourselves and others, we release the burdens that hinder our ability to embrace love freely. Forgiveness opens the door to healing and allows us to move forward in God's love.

Join Destiny on today’s episode as she shares practical tools to help you identify the source of your negative thoughts and how to combat them.
The first step in overcoming negative thoughts is to recognize their source.
The Bible tells us in Ephesians 6:12, "For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." We must understand that negative thoughts often stem from the enemy's attempts to discourage and distract us from God's truth.
Once we recognize the source of these negative thoughts, we can combat them with the power of God's Word.
In 2 Corinthians 10:5, we are instructed to "take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ." This means that we have the authority to reject negative thoughts and replace them with God's promises and truth.
The practice of speaking biblically rooted affirmations is a powerful tool for overcoming negative thoughts and cultivating a healthy mindset.
By consistently speaking affirmations, we can train our minds to focus on God's truth and overcome negative thinking patterns.

Core beliefs serve as a compass, guiding us in making decisions and setting goals that are in line with our values. Living in alignment with these beliefs provides clarity and helps us stay focused on what truly matters to us.
Once we have identified our values, the next step is to align our actions with them.
Third is to remember that discovering our values is an ongoing process. As we grow and evolve, our values may shift and change. It's important to regularly reassess and reevaluate our values to ensure that we are still living in alignment with our core beliefs.

You see, when we rely solely on ourselves for confidence, we are limited by our own abilities, experiences, and perceptions. We become vulnerable to the opinions and judgments of others, and our confidence becomes fragile.
Question: How can we build our confidence upon God's Word?
First, we must understand that God's Word is the ultimate truth.
Second, we need to align our thoughts with God's thoughts.
Third, we must surrender our insecurities and weaknesses to God.

A wilderness season in one's spiritual walk with God can be seen as a blessing in disguise. It is a period of time where one feels isolated, disconnected, and uncertain about their faith journey. However, this season can also be a time of immense growth, transformation, and deepening of one's relationship with God.
In the wilderness, one is stripped of the distractions and comforts of everyday life. It is a place of solitude, where the noise of the world fades away, and one is left alone with their thoughts and emotions. This solitude allows for introspection, self-reflection, and a deeper understanding of oneself.
Moreover, the wilderness season is a time of testing and refining. Just as Jesus was led into the wilderness to be tempted, we too face trials and challenges that test our faith and character. These trials can be painful and uncomfortable, but they also provide an opportunity for growth and refinement. It is in the wilderness that our faith is tested, our weaknesses are exposed, and our reliance on God is strengthened.
Furthermore, the wilderness season is a time of dependence on God. When we are stripped of our usual sources of security and comfort, we are forced to rely solely on God's provision and guidance. In the wilderness, we learn to trust in God's faithfulness, to seek His wisdom, and to surrender our own plans and desires. It is in this surrender that we experience the true power and presence of God in our lives.
The wilderness season is a time of preparation. Just as the Israelites wandered in the wilderness for forty years before entering the Promised Land, our wilderness season prepares us for the next chapter of our spiritual journey. It is a time of pruning, refining, and equipping for the tasks and challenges that lie ahead. In the wilderness, we learn valuable lessons, develop resilience, and acquire the spiritual tools necessary to fulfill our purpose.

The significance of mindset lies in its power to shape our thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes, which in turn affect our behaviors, emotions, and overall mental well-being.
Our mindset not only influences how we perceive and respond to external circumstances, but it also shapes our internal dialogue and self-talk.
How to cultivate a Christ-centered Mindset: It first starts with challenging negative thought patterns. From a Christian perspective, the role of self-talk and negative thought patterns in shaping our mental well-being is significant. The Bible emphasizes the power of our thoughts and the importance of renewing our minds.

Mental health is a vital aspect of our overall well-being that influences how we think, feel, and act. It encompasses our emotional, psychological, and social well-being, affecting our daily functioning, relationships, and ability to cope with life's challenges. However, despite its significance, mental health remains stigmatized and often overlooked in society, especially in the Christian community. Understanding and addressing mental health is crucial not only for individuals but also for promoting healthier communities and societies.

People-pleasing has become deeply ingrained in our daily lives. The desire to gain acceptance, approval, and validation from others often leads us down a path of sacrificing our own needs, values, and boundaries. However, there comes a point when we must pause, reflect, and ask ourselves: Are we truly living our lives to please others, or are we unintentionally neglecting our well-being and potentially undermining our relationship with God? In this episode, I shared 3 ways that we can stop people-pleasing and please God instead. I also shared some effects of being a people pleaser.
The first step to stopping a bad habit is to identify the habit. This ideology works for the desire to please people. Take a moment and try to pinpoint the times you have done things or said words to satisfy others or gain validation and then trace out the situations surrounding these happenings.
When you have done this, it would become clear that you don't need the validation that is not coming from God.
You are your person so allow yourself to say "no" sometimes. We have been called to serve and be our brother's keeper but God didn't ask us to do this at our detriment. You don't have to agree to everything or do everything you are asked to do. If it doesn't align with God's plan for you, don't let it overpower you, say no and move on. If you fail to draw the line, there are tendencies you go overboard with your actions and lose touch with the reason why you are serving.
No man is an island of himself, if you don't have good people around you, you would not be able to tell how deep into people pleasing you have gotten into until it is too late. Having people who share the same beliefs, faith, and values with you is very important because these people are there to draw us back when we are doing too much, they help us to love ourselves more and they remind us that the only thing we need to be focused on is what God says about us.

As humans, it's quite normal to be ambitious. We wake up every day with a drive to achieve our set goals and it's in our nature to be competitive. What happens when things do not go as planned?
We feel rejected and frustrated and this comes from a place of lack of contentment. We tend to go overboard most times when we forget to acknowledge our achievements and be happy with them.
For some of us, striking the balance between being ambitious and content is a huge problem and the way to overcome this problem is staying aligned with God's plan for us.
In this episode, I will be sharing practical steps to balancing ambition and contentment while staying focused on God's plan.
● Seek God's guidance
When we spend time with God's words and in deep meditation, He will always help us to make plans that are following His will.
● Define your values and purpose
What is your purpose? What have you been called to fulfill on earth?
When you find answers to these questions, your ambition will automatically be geared toward the direction of God's plan for you. It is also advisable to write out your core values, they will constantly remind you of God's place in your life when you make plans.
● Practice gratitude
Appreciating God for the things he has blessed us with opens the doors to receiving more. When we are focused on the blessings of others, we miss the entire point because we can only trust God's process and plans for us if we acknowledge and are grateful for the things he has done for us.
● Embrace patience and trust
It is important that we are patient and we wait for God because He is always working in our favor.

In a world that often emphasizes external validation and fosters comparison, adopting the self-worth mindset helps us break free from the cycle of seeking approval from others and instead find validation within ourselves.
This mindset shift is crucial for personal growth, resilience, and overall well-being. By understanding and recognizing one's worth, we can build a solid foundation of self-confidence, pursue our passions, and navigate life's challenges with a sense of self-assuredness.
In this episode, I would be sharing practical tips on how to adopt a self-worth mindset, so if you have been struggling with appreciating yourself no matter what season of life you may be in, this episode is for you, grab your journals, and let's ride.
A constant reminder that you are enough is a huge step to take and this can be achieved by frequent reflection. When you spend time by yourself and embark on a deep soul search journey, you will gradually get into the self-aware realm and this is all the assurance you need that you are indeed worthy. Also, you can never know the depth of your existence as a human if you don't ask yourself questions.
Sometimes, it is necessary to take yourself through a question-and-answer segment while you are reflecting and these questions about your values, fears, and your limitations, would challenge your spirit and remove the layers that guide your emotions while leading you through a self-discovery journey.
Having compassion for yourself would help to overcome self-criticism and foster self-love. Don't be too hard on yourself and ensure that when you make a mistake and go of course, you take a deep breath and try to understand where you're coming from. When things seem to be wrong, encourage yourself for doing well in previous times at least, and when you get criticizing thoughts challenge them and do not be discouraged.

In the vast tapestry of human history, women have played a pivotal role in shaping societies, cultures, and belief systems. Throughout the ages, their voices, contributions, and biblical gifts have left an indelible mark.
From the strength and wisdom of biblical heroines like Esther and Deborah to the nurturing and compassion exemplified by figures such as Mary Magdalene. Women have been central figures in the narratives of faith and spirituality.
God has blessed the entire woman race with gifts and abilities that some people die without discovering and by tapping into these gifts, women can find inspiration, guidance, and strength to overcome challenges and achieve spiritual growth. One of the greatest disservices you can do to yourself as a woman is to downplay your abilities.
In this episode, we will explore the biblical gifts bestowed upon women and discuss how they can be harnessed to solve questions and tasks that arise in our lives.
Like Mary the Mother Jesus, we have been given the unique gifts to nurture. We have the desire to protect and nurture those that have been placed under our care.
Like Deborah, God has filled us with the wisdom to speak and think wise things.
Whenever we are down, we always rise, that's one of our unique gifts. We have the spirit to fight for what we want and we strive till the end
Like Mariam, every woman can hear from God, we also make good leaders. God carefully deposited all these gifts in us to ensure that society is properly shaped.

If there is one thing we fear as humans, it's the unknown and this is why we want to be in control of everything that happens to and around us.
In our quest for understanding and fulfillment, humans have long grappled with the desire to control aspects of their lives. We yearn for a sense of power and influence believing that the ability to shape our destiny will bring us closer to the lives we envision.
However, it is in recognizing the limitations of our control that we can truly embrace the effects and grace of God's help. There is a need to surrender and completely trust God's outcome because it is only then that we can experience true peace and genuine growth.
Do you have an A-type personality or know someone that does? This episode has been designed to help you understand perfectionism from a perfectionist point of view.
In this episode, I shared:
A practical way to start embracing the unknown and letting go.
Some benefits of letting go and trusting God's outcome.

In today's fast-paced and demanding world, the concept of self-care has gained significant recognition as a vital component of overall well-being. We are constantly bombarded with responsibilities, obligations, and societal pressures, often leaving us feeling overwhelmed and drained. However, taking care of ourselves should never be seen as a luxury, but rather as a necessity for maintaining a healthy mind and body.
Ironically, the mere mention of self-care often evokes a sense of guilt in many individuals. Deep-rooted societal conditioning and the notorious adage "putting oneself before others is selfish" loom over us, making us question our right to prioritize our own needs. However, it is essential to understand that self-care is neither frivolous nor selfish, but an act of self-preservation and nourishment that allows us to function at our best and positively impact those around us.
Nurturing the mind and body encompasses a wide range of activities and practices aimed at restoring and rejuvenating our physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional well-being. It involves carving out moments of solitude, engaging in activities that help us unwind, pursuing hobbies, practicing mindfulness, adopting healthy habits, seeking support, and setting boundaries that protect our mental and physical health.
This journey towards self-care can be challenging, as it often requires breaking down internal barriers and overcoming the deep-seated guilt associated with taking time for ourselves.
In this episode, I shared faith-based practical ways to nurture our mind and body and be at our optimum best always, and also tips to overcome the feeling of guilt when you choose to prioritize self-care.

One of the emotions naturally expected of humans is the feeling of worry and unease. It is difficult to know what the next day has in store for us so we go about carrying the burden of uncertainty.
While this is not so bad, allowing this burden to overwhelm us would cause a drift in our relationship with God.
Anxiety is a common experience for many people but it can be particularly difficult to confront alone. Thankfully, the Bible offers comfort and encouragement to those who suffer anxiety.
It is not God's plan that we are troubled about things we have no control over. When we worry, we are simply ignoring the supremacy of God. We must understand that the moment we become Kingdom children, the reins of our life are held by God and He is in full control of our affairs.
In this episode, I shared 5 scriptures that can help us overcome anxiety.

Have you ever just looked at yourself and out rightly down played on your abilities?
God isn't ordinary and so nothing he has created is ordinary. You have wonderful gifts and abilities deposited inside you, don't you think it's an insult to your maker as a child if God you constantly doubt yourself?
A lot of women are held by the chains of imposter syndrome and as believers, one of the ways the devil takes over our life is to fill us with insufficient thoughts that makes us doubt what God says about us.
In this episode, I shared the characteristics and roots of imposter syndrome and most importantly, 5 ways we can overcome imposter syndrome as children of God.
Recognize your identity in Christ
The knowledge of our identity in Christ is where our assurance lies. When we know who we are and whose we are, it is very difficult to look down on ourselves and down play our Gods given gifts and abilities.
Renew your mind with God's truth
God's word, the Bible is never changing. This is food for our mind and soul. When we constantly meditate on God's word, we will be filled with so much positivity and would be renewed and armed with the appropriate weapons to fight the enemy when he comes to sow seed of imposter syndrome in us.
Embrace your weakness
Embracing your weakness means submitting to God's supremacy and acknowledging that it's only in him that we draw strength. We can overcome our fears and insecurity when we submit to God's strength.
Practice humility
When we accept that there are others better than us and we submit ourselves to the learning process and be of service, it becomes difficult for negative thoughts to find expression in us.
Trust Gods timing
God's time is indeed the best. We can't do anything on our own and we certainly can't overcome imposter syndrome when we try to fight it on our own. When God promises a thing, he does it.

All-or-nothing thinking can be a harmful thought pattern that can limit our ability to see things from a different perspective. When we engage in all-or-nothing thinking, we tend to see everything in black and white, and we might get stuck in a negative pattern that can lead to stress and anxiety. A lot of Christians have lived a huge part of their lives nurturing and exhibiting the all-or-nothing pattern of thought. In this episode, I shared some consequences of having a black-and-white mindset and 3 practical techniques to attain a more balanced perspective.
To overcome all-or-nothing thinking, it is important to challenge our thoughts regularly. One effective way to challenge our thoughts is to ask ourselves empowering questions. "Is this thought true?" or "What evidence do I have to support this thought?" Once we have questioned our initial thoughts, we can begin to expand our thinking and look for alternative responses. For example, if we're stuck in the belief that we're not good enough, we can challenge that thought by thinking about all the things we have accomplished in our lives, no matter how small they may seem.
Bible stories have shown that nothing is black and white and by learning to appreciate the complexity and ambiguity of life, we can begin to let go of our need for certainty and control. Embracing grey areas means accepting that there are multiple perspectives, that there is no one "right" answer, and that uncertainty is a natural part of life. It means letting go of the need to always be in control and learning to tolerate a certain amount of unpredictability. When we allow ourselves to embrace grey areas, we open ourselves up to new possibilities and experiences. We become more flexible and adaptable and are better equipped to handle life's challenges.
As long as you are moving from one level to the other, that's all that should matter. The desire to attain perfection when it becomes extreme, can be dangerous. Progress doesn't have to be visible big leaps, it could be baby steps and shouldn't be overlooked or trivialized

Gratitude is a lifestyle. It goes even beyond words and one of the ways to get more is appreciating the things you have gotten. Despite the knowledge of God's love for us, you might wonder why certain situations escalate for the worst or why bad times exist but have you thought that ingratitude might be the reason?
It is only common sense to expect more after you have shown gratitude so when you find yourself complaining about things going wrong, take a minute and acknowledge the times they were right and be grateful to God for the good things you enjoy.
One thing I like about living life on God's terms is its positive outcome which doesn't only take effect in our relationship with God but also how we interact with one another. The Bible encourages us to give thanks in all circumstances and adopting this lifestyle enables us to have a life filled with positivity because one thing that gratitude does is to discourage negative thought patterns.
We will also find out that our relationship with family, friends, neighbors and colleagues will be strengthened and made beautiful.
In this episode, I shared some physical and health benefits of gratitude and also how to overcome obstacles that try to stop us from being grateful.
If you think you have lost the will to pursue certain things in your life, you need to listen to this episode because it might be just what you need to ignite that spark.

Imagine going through a rough time and how just knowing what God says about that situation makes your faith stronger. When we give our lives in total submission to God and His will, it doesn't make us immune to difficult seasons. What happens is that the rate of temptations we encounter just went up. What makes all these beautiful is that God empowers us for these situations even before they come. There is absolutely nothing new under the sun. The word of God is alive.
Think about any problem at all, there is a scripture in God's word, the Bible that talks about that problem and offers the solutions and encouragement we need. In this episode, I will be showing you a road map of scriptures that would help to keep your faith strong when you encounter challenges.

We all have bad days, days when we feel like we're not doing enough to get the best results. It's very normal to experience this but what's not normal, is how we let our flesh handle these situations. As a kingdom child allowing yourself to experience grace on days like this is the best way to handle it.
Divine grace comes from God, but we will be cutting ourselves some slack when we allow ourselves to experience some of these grace's.
In this episode, I have put together some ways through which you can allow yourself to experience grace.
If this is one of your struggle points, do well to tune in.
We are all flawed. When you remember this, you'll find yourself taking life easy.
One of the reasons we think we are not going enough is because we compare the speed of our journey with others. When we bring to our focus that we are all moving at our own unique pace, allowing ourselves to enjoy grace becomes easy.
One of the ways God empowers us is when we encounter setbacks. When we read the Bible, we can see that God doesn't promise us a smooth ride but He promised to be there with us when the ride becomes bumpy.
Sis, you beat yourself up too much. Be in touch with your human side and allow yourself to experience grace by forgiving and being kind to yourself.

Do you find yourself prioritizing the needs of others over yours?
This is a sign of you being a people pleaser. Not only are you neglecting yourself, over time, you'd place God below the needs of other people and this can cause terrible damage to your emotional and spiritual state.
It's just a matter of time before it causes psychological harm to you.
Remember God didn't say "love your neighbor above yourself", He said “love your neighbor as yourself ”, so there should be a balance between both spectrums.
In this episode, I talked about ways we can go from being people pleasing to living for God. The core of our existence is God and our lives revolve around him, so there is absolutely nothing we can do without God.
If you are struggling with this, tune in to this episode to learn more.
When we decide to get God involved in everything we do, it makes it easier to manage our people's pleasing attitude and it doesn't get to the extreme, like allowing others to determine how your relationship with God and the church is.
The areas where we tend to people please need to be identified. This is the problem and the first step to solving a problem is first identifying it. Laying out a boundary keeps you from going out of your way for others at your expense.

One of the feelings that rob us of getting the full benefits of being kingdom daughters is self-doubt. It goes as far as limiting us to a certain level.
Self-doubt is that convincing voice that tells us that we are not enough, we are not worthy, of enjoying the benefits of being a kingdom child, we are not capable of getting certain great things done, and we're not worthy of God's love and forgiveness.
As believers, we have been given a sound mind and a bold spirit, and as such, doubt shouldn't have a place of residence in our lives. In this episode, I shared 3 biblical ways to shift our mindset from being doubtful to having confidence. If you currently feel unworthy to be loved and cared for by God, this episode is for you.
Forgetting how the love of God brought down His son to die for our sins is one major contributor to having self-doubt.
“When God looks at us, His love alone, covers the multitude of our past mistakes and our past failures”
We can easily get carried away thinking that our work for God is equivalent to how He rates us to be. This is not true. Our focus should be on building an intimate relationship with God.
It is not a competition. God is more interested in you than what you do. This is where our confidence comes from.
“Your worthiness doesn't come from what you do, it comes from your relationship with God”
Reading the word of God helps you see yourself through his lens. We are easily swayed by the happenings around us and this is not entirely our fault but what point would doubt come in if you know that you are God's heir or that you are his workmanship? We must ask God to give us revelations of his word that speaks about what he thinks of us.
“Do not let yourself be burdened by the yoke of slavery”

The ability to express good emotions is a beautiful gift from God but as with every other thing that exists under the face of the earth, we have bad emotions as humans. So how do you navigate this phase when it comes?
One of the ways the devil gets to us is through bad options. He pushes us to react violently and most times in resignation, submitting to his will when these emotions become overbearing. This is why it is important as God's children to learn how to manage overbearing emotions.
In this episode, I shared tips on how we can loosen the grip that emotions have over our lives.
The entirety of God's word is centered on the truth and God's word is unchanging. One of the best ways of overcoming emotions is trusting God and his world instead of the emotions you feel at a certain point because they cloud our sense of reasoning and deceive us into trusting them.
Sonmanubelicers adopt the ostrich method of burying their heads in the same way when they get overwhelmed with bad emotions. Do you know that when you fail to put out the fire on your candlestick, it burns out, gets melted, and slowly burns your table cloth and eventually, the entire building is engulfed in flames?
This is what happens when we try to bottle or ignore our emotions. It's better to feel and express them with the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
As Christians, we have been called to apply the gift of the Holy Spirit and move through everything with discernment. Taking a step back to process what we feel and asking God for wisdom are one of the ways to use discernment.
Notable Quotes
“Feelings are an essential part of humanity and reflect one of mankind's direct connections to God”
“The danger lies in when we allow our emotions to run the show”
“We cannot allow our emotions to be in the driver's seat of our lives ”
“Many times it's our emotions that highlight the areas we need to bring before the Lord ”
“Discernment is a valuable tool and we can use it to navigate emotions”

Are you currently struggling with keeping a positive mindset amid the chaos?
It can be quite a dilemma to be faced with a dicey situation and still try to look on the bright side. Trust me, I understand, but it is a very tedious journey when you try to do it by yourself. Using biblical declaration as a kingdom daughter can help solve this problem.
God's world is powerful. When you read the Bible, you get an insight into who God is. You are armed with the right tools; words, to counter negative thoughts when they come. You are made powerful and your days become even more beautiful because you learn how to declare God's word to yourself.
It is also important to know that apart from trying to build a positive mindset about everything that surrounds you, biblical declarations are like barricades to wade off the devil.
God's word is alive and active and constantly declaring them, believing every word as they pertain to your life with faith, would eventually build up your confidence in Christ and as a believer.
If you desire to get on the journey of learning about biblical declarations and applying them to your life, I have put together some scriptures and promises to guide you on this path.

This episode is the conclusion of the 3-part series we have been on for a while now. By the way, if you haven't checked out the others, you should.
In this episode, I would like to help those struggling with knowing how to live out their identity in Christ by sharing 5 practical ways to do so. If this is you, grab a seat and join me.
● Living in obedience.
There are so many ways a believer can live in obedience to Christ. Thankfully, the bible, our guide, is always available to show us how. Our identity in Christ brings us to the consciousness that our work is for God and not man and that obeying God is one of the things we have been called to do.
● Living in a community with other believers.
Planting ourselves amid the brethren is just as profitable as networking in the business world is. One of the good things about being a believer is that we are never alone. As Apostle Paul said, the church is meant to give us a community to live and grow.
● Serving others.
As Christians, we have been called to serve and we can do this in so many ways. After knowing your identity in Christ, one way we can live in it and through it is by having the spirit of service for our brothers and sisters.
“No matter how big or small, our acts of service make a difference to those around us”~ Destiny Pickens.
● Sharing the Gospel.
While you are trying to live out your identity In Christ, one urge you cannot resist is the urge to share God's love through the Gospel.
There are a lot of questioning minds around us and we can provide answers to them through the Gospel. You cannot spread God's word of love without having love to give, so you need to brace up to be filled with love first.
“People need to see the love of Christ in you and your own life before they will begin to be open to hearing the message of the Gospel ” ~ Destiny Pickens.
● Addressing our thoughts.
It's quite easy to let our thoughts run wide but another way of living out our identity in Christ is by filling our thoughts with positive and beautiful things. It is expected that we become so conscious of the things we allow to get into our heads and minds.
“Make a commitment to taking your thoughts captive and making them obedient in Christ”~ Destiny Pickens.
Scriptures Mentioned
● Romans 8:17
● Matthew 25:40
● Philippians 4:8

When the enemy sows the seeds of confusion and doubts in us, his ultimate plan is to cheat us of the benefit of knowing our identity in Christ.
In today's episode, I will share 5 benefits of knowing our identity in Christ as the second part of the 3-part series we started last week.
The knowledge of God's word alone can save us from many things.
A certain level of boldness comes with being sure of who you are. It is God's will that we are close and have an intimate relationship with him. When we go shaking in fear before God, it shows that we don't fully believe in our identity in Christ. By dedicating our lives to living as children of God, we have been given unlimited access, and we are expected to boldly utilize this access.
As kingdom daughters and believers, recognizing our identity in Christ means we are no longer controlled by our flesh. The spirit of God takes control and leads us through everything. Receiving salvation means that we have been given access to His redemption power so that even when we fall prey to the enemy's antics, grace is sufficient, and the spirit of God takes the lead.
Living life on our own terms can be overwhelming. Even with God, we find ourselves giving in to our flesh sometimes. It is essential to know that loving with the consciousness of our identity gives us our due rewards. This means that when we till the ground, we are assured of a timely and bountiful harvest. God will never allow us to labor in vain.
Being in Christ takes off the barrier of lack. Our God is rich in every resource you can think about, and He loves His children so much so He will supply our needs with abundance. When keeping close to our hearts our identity in Christ, we get automatic access to the riches of our maker, and irrespective of what your finances are looking like at the moment, trust God for a supply.
Realizing who we are and whose we would help us make decisions in God's wisdom. He knows the best for us and loves it when we apply wisdom to get what we ought to get.

What would you say if you were called upon to introduce yourself in a gathering, irrespective of its purpose? How would you go about it?
For some of us, the only time an introduction of ourselves would include something other than our name and achievements is when faced with adversities. Then, we quickly remember the lines, "I am a child of God," but how much of God's child do you believe you are?
The enemy is not a stand-up comedian. He is not out to make jokes with you. He means business. So you must know who and whose you are, and your identity in Christ must be topmost on your mind daily.
In today's episode, I will share what it means to be rooted in our identity in Christ as part of the importance of knowing our identity in Christ.
If you have been struggling with coming to terms with how much of Christ you have in you and what you mean to Him, get your writing journals, and let's get on with it.
To be rooted in Christ means that;

Oftentimes, we get so busy in our work for God that we forget the fuel needed to sustain our walk with God.
As promising as being all over the place trying to promote kingdom messages is, it is very easy to feel overwhelmed.
We worry a lot about the things we think need to be done and we forget that keeping chaos around us can prevent us from having an intimate relationship and fellowship with God. You can't be useful to kingdom advancement if you are constantly tired and to have the kind of rest that gives you renewed strength each time, you need Christ.
This episode mirrors the lives of Mary and Martha as well as points out 3 ways you can deal with stress and experience rest that can only be found in Jesus Christ.
Living in this world is demanding enough and one easy mistake we make as believers is to allow ourselves to drown in it. We are privileged to have Jesus Christ, it's one of the packages that comes with being saved so instead of running around, why don't you rest at Christ's feet and experience lasting peace?
Our lives as humans and the need to excel at everything are like an inclined plane. We go from wanting to be the excellent spouse to being the best parent, top at our workplace, etc. At what point do you actively seek God? We get so busy with these distractions but intentionally seeking God is one way to experience rest. When we seek God, He seeks us.
“God is not some faraway big voice in the cloud that doesn't care about you, He is the still small voice that is there in your darkest moments.”
Like Mary, resign yourself to receive from Christ. Ignore the chaos around you and put yourself at His feet. We work so hard that when we need gratification, we look to our work. What we would be concerned with is how green our relationship with God is and how receptive we are to receiving from him.
“God's rest is something you receive not something you achieve.”

Society's idea of becoming the "best version of you" involves making the lives of others the standard and trying to live up to it.
We are God's children. We shouldn't desire things God doesn't have in His plan for us. We should be intentional in living life in God's way.
In this episode, we will be learning, in 4 ways, how to be the best version of the women God has called us to be.
Living your life according to God's values and instructions is, in a nutshell, what integrity entails.
Perfection is not a requirement with God involved. Walking in integrity is not getting stressed and burned out because we simply follow God's instructions.
How often do you take inventory of what God has done for you? Are you patient enough to explore the opportunities He has placed on your palms and the request He has granted, or are you in a hurry to ask for the next big thing?
Being content tells a lot about where our heart is. The first step to practicing contentment as God's daughter is to believe that God is enough for you.
We have nothing to offer God that He doesn't already have. God doesn't need us to be who He is. It's a privilege to have a relationship with Him. The realization of this fact should bring about a humbling effect in our dealings with God. When we go before him, we should recognize His supremacy over all and act accordingly.
Love holds no bounds, so irrespective of our relationship with others, as children of God, we are expected to express love to everyone.
Being patient, making ourselves available for service to others, and forgiving all rings are ways we can love others.
Being the best version of ourselves doesn't stop at evolving in our crafts because, as Christians, we have been called to serve, so we are saddled with the responsibility of thinking about others when we think about making ourselves better.

How often have you told yourself, "I am not enough?" How often have you decided against pursuing a dream or interest because you thought it would flop?
As women, we have been in the habit of downplaying our abilities for a long time. We fill ourselves with false truths and run with them.
These are limitations that hold us back. They stop us from reaching our potential and fulfilling our purpose.
One way to address limiting beliefs is to be aware of them. Whenever a limiting belief gets to the surface of your mind, find its origin and ask yourself, does it align with God's plan for you?
For this episode, I am bringing to your remembrance 3 truths you need to know about who God created you to be. These truths would help you tackle limitations in God's way.
When we accept Christ, we take up his identity, and as such, we can do anything we set our heart to do. We take up a new spirit, and our past no longer matters.
We are of Christ. We don't need to compare our performance with others to rate our worth. It would be a waste of time to look at our accomplishments or shortcomings and decide how worthy we are because, as kingdom daughters, these things don't matter.
God's love for us is unconditional. You don't need to impress Him, you don't need to beat yourself up over mistakes, and you don't need to go hard on yourself because it doesn't change how God loves you or His plan for you. You are enough for God.

For a minute, imagine what you would look like eating without a proper diet plan or not eating at all, wearing tacky clothing, and mixing yourself up with criminals and people with questionable characters. It's a gory image to behold!
The Bible says in Rom 12:2, "be ye not conformed to the things of this world, but ye be transformed by the renewing of your mind…". It is important to live our life with a biblical mindset; this sets us apart and directs our daily path.
I understand how difficult it is, so here are 3 steps to implement a biblical mindset in our everyday life.
• Consume the world of God every day.
One major contributor to growth is food. Eating God's world from the Bible enhances spiritual growth. Good spiritual growth would show itself physically, so don't expect to grow when you starve your spirit, man.
• Be prayerful.
Are there things causing you to struggle? Take it to God in prayer. We raise our fears, weakness, and vices to God through prayer. It is also a channel through which we communicate with our Father. Not praying is like building a wall around you but constantly putting you in sync with God, and your thoughts would be continuously wired to His plans for you.
• Be intentional about relationships.
On your journey to having a biblical mindset, you must be extremely mindful about who you give access to. Some people are not meant to get too close to you because that would mean being carried away by distractions and losing focus on your purpose. Whether you like it or not, an enemy is watching and waiting for an opportunity to make you swerve off the right path so guard your space as you try to implement a biblical mindset in your activities.

It's the start of a new year. It's a fresh slate you have been given to continue on the previous year's path or start all over with better strategies.
It's that time of the year to start scribbling goals and resolutions. While you are about making those goals, I want you to remember the place of God. Relying on your abilities would see you hitting a brick wall.
"When we set goals, purpose, and vision need to be accounted for."
In this episode, I will share tips to help us meet our set vision-driven goals and, of course, with God's help. So if you have been struggling to tick off boxes on your goals list in previous years, I want you to sit back and follow this episode.

Today we are talking about how we can focus on enjoying the moment instead of worrying about the future or dwelling on the past.
We are constantly living in one of three states, the past, the present, or the future. And unfortunately, a lot of us spend most of our time living in either the past or the future. We either dwell on past mistakes or hurt, or we worry about what's to come. So how can we change this? How can we learn to focus on the present and enjoy the moment?
Here are a 5 tips:

Christian women are often told to have everything under control. There is constant pressure to be the perfect wife, mother, employee, and so on. But the truth is, you don't have to be perfect. And we definitely don't have to have everything under control. God doesn't expect us to be perfect.
He knows that we are human and that we make mistakes. What he does expect from you and me is to try our best and to trust in Him. So if you're feeling like you're not living up to the impossible standards set for you, don't worry; you're not alone.
We have a duty to cast all our anxieties on Him even as we remain humble under his mighty hand. This results in upliftment for us. Let's not exhaust ourselves when all we had to do in the first place was hand all over to our loving God. He is the one who works things out in our favor in the first place.

In this episode, I will share three questions to ask yourselves to help you through God's transformation in your life.
Are you focused on the past or the possibility of the future?
We get carried away focusing on what could have been and is not, but we must focus on the one who knows just how well this season will turn out to be, God.
What areas of your life do you need to let go of to embrace what is to come?
We often want the transformation, but are we ready to experience it? We hold on to a lot of baggage that needs to be taken off so that God can have transformations meet us prepared.
Are you actively pursuing God's counsel on decisions that are being made?
We can't go through the transition season and call the shots; we need God's help. "If we go to a place where God had not intended us to be, we are not setting ourselves up for success."

In today's episode, I will be talking about five ways to pray for the women in your life, irrespective of the position they occupy.
Ways to pray for the women in your life:
"To not love God is to simply not know him."
Pray for the move of God in her life
Proclaim the promise that what God has joined together, let no one separate over her marriage. When her husband loves God and strives to make God happy, he will understand what it means to love his wife and lead the family on the right path.
Pray for her mental health, and speak wholeness into her. Failing health comes with weariness, and in no time, she would become a shadow of her old self. Pray that God strengthens her.
The appearance of people easily sways us. Many people do not like to have conversations about money. Pray that God provides all her needs and makes her sufficient.
Pray that God divinely connects her to people and opportunities that would propel her to a greater height. Pray that her steps are ordered according to God's aligned visions.
When you pray, ask God for directions. Allow Him to place in your heart the woman you would be interceding for. We are called to pray for everyone around us. That's one of the ways to grow our community in Christ.

Welcome to the Uniquely You podcast! I’m Destiny Pickens, a Christ lover, wife, certified transformational life coach and passionate entrepreneur. I made this podcast for the woman that has big dreams and even a bigger heart, who loves Christ and those around her. However, struggles to love and accept herself and feels like there’s a mental block getting in the way of her going after her goals and pursuing her God-sized calling. If that sounds like you, you are in the right place! The episodes on this podcast are here to give you the needed push to face your fears, gain more confidence and reignite the fire in your heart! You are not alone and you don’t need anyone’s approval to be the person God called you to be. I’m honored you are here and look forward to this journey together.

Do you ever feel a sense of guilt when constantly asking God to do things for you? In today’s episode we are talking about feeling guilty for asking God for the wants and needs of our heart. God actually takes Joy in hearing our needs. When we are constantly asking God to involve Himself in our life, it’s showing that we rely on Him and not on our own strength. And that in itself is a beautiful testimony to how He is working within our lives.
