Many of us have a faulty perception. We think that redemption works like a checking account—make as many deposits as we can and when we come up short, borrow what we need from Jesus to make up the difference. The truth is - we make no deposits, and we need no loans. We have been redeemed by Him. He paid the price and the ransom for our souls—all of it, in full, for all of us—with His blood. Living the gospel of Jesus Christ is not about earning our salvation, a concept that only leads to frustration and failure. Living the gospel of Jesus Christ is about choosing daily to qualify for His gift that He freely offers us, by relying wholly on Him. The gospel is a system of redemption. The gospel is not a system to promote the assimilation of virtuous habits and the accumulation of good deeds—all people can achieve worthy goals and live good lives. In Redeemed Through His Blood, we learn how others have experienced redemption and we discuss how each of us may access the power of Christ and His Atonement, which will bring His joy and His peace into our lives.

As we move through the repentance experience we begin to see manifestations of repentance in our own lives. Doctrine and Covenants 58:42-4342 Behold, he who has arepented of his bsins, the same is cforgiven, and I, the Lord, remember them no more.43 By this ye may know if a man repenteth of his sins—behold, he will aconfess them and bforsake them.Doctrine and Covenants 58:42-43Maybe too often we rush past a thought or a teaching propelled by the thought of 'I already know about that". Today's discussion on what it means to forsake, is important, enlightening and thought-provoking.
It seems that many, if not most, of us have concern, at some level, about the spiritual fitness of a loved one. In today's episode we respond, by way of conversation, directly to an email that we recently received and indirectly to many more that have previously been received, regarding this heavy dilemma. When you reach up for the Lord’s power in your life with the same intensity that a drowning person has when grasping and gasping for air, power from Jesus Christ will be yours. When the Savior knows you truly want to reach up to Him—when He can feel that the greatest desire of your heart is to draw His power into your life—you will be led by the Holy Ghost to know exactly what you should do.
When you spiritually stretch beyond anything you have ever done before, then His power will flow into you. And then you will understand the deep meaning of words we sing in the hymn “The Spirit of God”:

A broken heart, a contrite spirit a.nd godly sorrow are the foundation in qualifying for the conditional blessings that come to us though Christ's atonement.Insights derived from ancient and modern day prophets provide the path that David and Scott use to assist us in understanding the conditions of repentance, which if properly understood, would compel us all to a deeper and more comforting relationship with our Savior Jesus Christ.
Matthew 4:16-17, 18 teach us that the first thing that Jesus Christ taught, as he completed his 40 day fast in the wilderness and just before he called His apostles, was repentance. So many deep personal and different meanings are, no doubt, associated to this phrase in "The Lord's Prayer'. Doug and Emily and their angel son, Wyatt, came to understand a deep reliance on the power of Jesus Christ, administered to them by the sweetness of the Spirit.
This journey began several years ago for this wonderful and chosen family. Battles ensued, radiation and hospitals would become all too familiar, the norm even. Fast-forward to today and Doug and Emily are still very much reliant on 'Daily Bread'.

As Nephi exclaimed... O wretched man that I am. .. so, too, do we often feel the weight of the Fall in our lives. And, when we do, it can sometimes feel like our very identity becomes our association to our own fallenness.
As Nephi also exclaimed... nevertheless, I know in whom I have trusted. (2Ne 4:19).... so too can we find similar hope.

Now that we have discussed; the barriers to repentance (episode 21) and what repentance is not, we are prepared to move into what IS repentance. Find freedom and God's infinite love for us as we move into the posture of repentance.
As we strive to live in better alignment with Heavenly Father's will for us, to allow the Spirit into our lives, we begin to desire a honest walk in keeping the commandments. The spirit is with us more frequently and in greater abundance, and we begin to make the important decision to turn our wills’ and lives’ over to the complete care of God.
How do we keep this newfound, or discovered anew, desire to ‘come, more fully, unto Him’? The answer of course is, to be like Him and with Him in all things. As we embark on this wonderful journey, we find that our 'humanness' is still alive and healthy. The effects of the Fall have not been fully mitigated (that won't happen in this life btw) and staying committed to repenting to 'come unto Him' is not always easy. Why?
Let's take a look at the way we are all subjected to the problems associated with fear and pride in our 'putting on the atonement of Jesus Christ’.
Several years ago, Scott Harman, our guest this week, spent some dark days in the throes of addiction. At one point he had literally lost everything and was living homeless on the street in California. Join us and hear Scott describe how a primary song that he had learned as a very young child, offered him comfort and even a tinge of hope that precipitated his ‘crying unto the lord’ while in solitary confinement. On a cold cement floor in a ‘dark’ and hideous place, Scott fell to his knees and ‘cried unto the lord’, and his life has never been the same since.

Imagine, if you can, the joy that Mary surely felt as she became a witness to the resurrection of Jesus. Her heart must have swelled, maybe even her joy was full that perhaps she wept. Whatever Mary’s reaction, and we can be assured that it was sublime. Today we sense an invitation to deeply examine our own reaction to the risen lord. Do we find solace and peace in knowing that He indeed has risen? Does our knowing Him and “going” with Him to the garden, the cross and finally the tomb bring to our life’s peace and joy? Do we feel a deeper commitment to respond to the invitation “come follow me”?
This week we wrap up the events of the atonement of Jesus Christ as we discuss the resurrection of Jesus. We talk about what that means for each of us as individuals and how this understanding should bring us closer to Him as the desire to follow Him builds inside of each of us. He lives!
