The silent treatment, often painful and confusing, involves withholding communication, which can feel more powerful than words during conflict. Psychologists explain that this behavior, whether intentional or not, causes emotional distress by triggering the brain's response to social exclusion. It may be used as a harmful tactic to control or punish, or as an unintentional reaction from someone struggling with their emotions.
However, silence can also be reframed as a tool for self-care and self-discovery. Through meditation, we can transform silence into a nourishing experience for the mind, body, and soul. Embracing silence rather than fearing it allows us to connect more deeply with our inner selves, offering clarity and healing. The meditation lesson encourages working on one's relationship with silence, using it as a space for reflection, peace, and personal growth.
In the end, withholding communication in relationships is damaging, but silence, when used intentionally in self-care, can become a powerful resource for emotional well-being.
Tune in to the silence today as we Hurry Up And Meditate!
While the ego provides the self-confidence and resilience needed to navigate life, it can also trigger anxiety when it feels threatened, leading to reactions like anger and blame.
I've observed how easily the ego convinces us we're right, even when we know we might not be. Recognizing this allows us to detach from ego-driven reactions and respond more mindfully. By practicing awareness, we can become the observer of our thoughts, viewing situations neutrally rather than through the ego's lens.
In meditation, I guide my students to manage the anxiety linked to a sensitive ego by grounding themselves and shifting to a role of the watcher. This helps us detach from ego-driven thoughts and fosters inner peace. Letting go of the need to be right opens us to deeper connections with others, reducing anxiety and creating harmony in our relationships.
The journey of taming the ego is ongoing, but with mindfulness and self-awareness, we can cultivate a calmer mind and more peaceful life. Now, let’s tame the ego and Hurry Up & Meditate!
Today, we're going to explore the basics of mindfulness and how it can be helpful for the younger people in your life. Mindfulness is simple: it's about being aware of the present moment without judging it. We'll talk about all the benefits of meditation like mental and physical relaxation, then we'll do a simple mindfulness meditation that even adults can enjoy! Let's go! It's time to Hurry Up And Meditate!
The journey of healing old wounds is a profound yet necessary undertaking on the path to inner peace. By embracing the mantra of "feel it to heal it" and incorporating mindfulness meditation into our daily lives, we can begin to unravel the knots of past hurts and reclaim our sense of wholeness.

Taking conscious action is essential for turning your dreams into reality, moving beyond mere contemplation and planning. This process involves making deliberate decisions and taking intentional steps, whether for career goals, relationships, or personal health.
Without action, plans remain fantasies; even small steps can set momentum and provide valuable feedback. To take conscious action, follow four steps: set clear goals, create a detailed plan, take consistent action, and evaluate and adjust. By doing so, you steadily progress toward your goals with purpose and intention.
Calm your nervous system while working on your goals with the Square or Box Breathing method. It’s time to take action, so let’s Hurry Up And Meditate!

Inspired by Angela Duckworth's pioneering work on grit and resilience, this episode delves into how passion and perseverance for long-term goals can redefine success. Duckworth's research reveals that grit, more than talent or intelligence, is the strongest predictor of achievement. Her findings have transformed perspectives in psychology, education, and business, emphasizing the importance of a growth mindset and smart work. The episode also explores the concept of grace, defined here as self-compassion—offering yourself the same kindness and understanding you would give a friend facing setbacks.
Embracing both grit and grace can empower you to pursue your dreams with resilience and self-compassion. It's time to Hurry Up And Meditate!
In "The Untethered Soul," Michael Singer emphasizes self-awareness and detachment to achieve inner peace and clarity. Practice mindfulness by observing your thoughts and emotions without attachment, allowing you to see situations clearly without impulsive reactions. Release the need to control outcomes and trust the natural unfolding of events, maintaining an open and accepting attitude. Use the clarity from detachment to reassess your approach, ensuring your actions align with your inner values and long-term vision. Cultivate inner peace through consistent mindfulness practices, making it easier to navigate and reassess challenges, leading to a more peaceful, productive, and authentic path forward.

The metaphor "old keys don't unlock new doors" highlights the necessity of evolving our thinking and approaches to meet new challenges and opportunities. It suggests that relying on past strategies and habits can hinder personal and professional growth. To navigate the ever-changing landscape of life, we must cultivate adaptability and a willingness to embrace new perspectives and methods. This process involves letting go of outdated beliefs and behaviors and being open to innovation and change. By doing so, we unlock the potential for greater success and fulfillment in our endeavors.
Let's open some new doors this week as we Hurry Up And Meditate!
Beginner's Mind, or "Shoshin" in Japanese, is a concept in Zen Buddhism that encourages approaching situations with an open mind, free from preconceptions and judgments. It's about cultivating a mind that is willing to see things as if for the first time, even if you've encountered them before.
It’s time to let go of who we thought we were and open up to the possibilities of who we might become. It’s time, to Hurry Up And Meditate!

As a person who has lived a few decades, I've come to understand that sleep isn't merely about shutting my eyes and drifting into unconsciousness; it's about nurturing my body and mind. Each night, as I settle into bed, I'm acutely aware of the profound impact sleep has on my physical health. It's during those precious hours of rest that my body repairs itself, replenishing energy stores and ensuring that I wake up feeling refreshed and ready to take on whatever the day may bring. And, to keep it real, some nights, sleep just doesn’t come easily or stay as long as I need it to.
Let’s take some time together and explore the peace that sleep can bring, and the rationale that you should not meditate in order to fall asleep. Yes, you’ve read that correctly! Let me explain this unpopular opinion and much more as we Hurry Up And Meditate!
Ruby Dee once said, "My constant battle is putting aside time wasters, and I have to watch out for procrastination. Staying on the path of something you’re trying to create has much to do with having confidence in yourself and in your capacity to realize the things you want out of life." This affirmation speaks to the struggle many of us face in overcoming procrastination and staying focused on our goals.
To combat procrastination, it's essential to set clear goals and
break them down into manageable tasks. Prioritizing these tasks and creating a
to-do list can help keep you organized and focused. Techniques like the
Pomodoro Technique, which involves working in focused intervals followed by
short breaks, can also be beneficial in maintaining concentration.
Eliminating distractions and setting deadlines for yourself are
other effective strategies for overcoming procrastination. Developing
self-discipline and visualizing success can further boost motivation and reduce
procrastination tendencies. Finding an accountability partner and rewarding
yourself for completing tasks are additional methods to stay on track.
It's important to acknowledge any underlying fears or anxieties
that may be contributing to procrastination and take steps to address them.
Similarly, recognizing the role of perfectionism in procrastination habits and
adopting a more flexible mindset can be helpful in overcoming this challenge.
Meditation can also be a valuable practice for combating
procrastination. Visualization meditation, in particular, involves imagining
yourself successfully completing tasks or achieving goals, which can increase
motivation and reduce procrastination tendencies.

Everyone seems to be talking about money goals right now. Setting sights on larger incomes to meet the demands of economic pressures makes perfect sense to me.
You would think that it starts with a decision to make more money, then some creative thinking on how to plant some seeds to grow your wallet. If that’s all it takes, then why aren’t we all rolling in 100 dollar bills? One of the many possible reasons you could consider considering, is that you are internally resisting having more wealth.
Press play on this episode so we can excavate the beliefs that just might be holding you back from achievement of your goals. We will use practical tools, like journaling and mudras (hand yoga) paired with a guided meditation filled with vivid imagery to help you let go of your resistance and start making change.

Mindfulness meditation is a mental practice that involves focusing one's attention on the present moment, cultivating awareness of one's thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, and the environment without judgment. It is rooted in ancient Buddhist traditions but has been modernized to promote mental well-being and reduce stress.
The core principle of mindfulness meditation is to observe whatever arises in your consciousness without actively trying to change or control it. The benefits range from lowered anxiety and depression symptoms to building your inner-strength and ability to respond vs react to any situation.

The brain is so dynamic. It is capable of volumes of information storage and creative thought. The brain machine would run on high gear all day every day if we let it. The problem is, if we allow that, it takes a toll on the body. Therefore, we must allow the brain to rest. This is why we meditate.
Meditation, sitting in stillness sounds so blissful, and it is, but what no one tells you is you have to train your mind to meditate; you have to train your attention skills to keep coming back to your meditation practice.
Today’s meditation practice will be two-fold. First, we will learn a fun and easy way to grab and hold the attention of your brain with a Bumble Bee Meditation. Then, we will do a fundamental breath awareness exercise that you can use every time your mind wanders. It’s a skill for life. You can thank me later.

“The bad news is that time flies. The good news is, you’re the pilot” -Michael Altschuler
I didn’t understand when my parents told me as a young person how precious time was. Take your time, don’t waste your time, it’s time to go, and time is the most precious gift you can give. My dad telling me (often) that the best gifts he could offer were his time and his talent.
As an adult, I manage my entire life by time. I even teach time management. I track time, make time, give time, ask for time off, add time back into my day. Make choices about free time, people ask to pay for my time. I am putting time into a project or taking a time out.
Our conversation, affirmation, journal assignment and meditation today all center around this Time Wise theme and there’s no more time to waste. Let’s Hurry Up and Meditate!
Having fun is good for your health. Fun increases serotonin, improves your ability to cope with future stressors, boosts your energy, sharpens memory and concentration, improves sleep and your connection with others.
You don’t need to be sold on the benefits of fun, you just need to be reminded of them. The next time you are feeling stuck or you’re in a negative headspace, ask yourself, “what can I do to add some fun here?
If nothing comes to mind, I’m offering suggestions to help you bring more joy and excitement into your life, followed by a guided meditation to bring more joy to yourself and those you love. It’s time to Hurry Up And Meditate!

We’ll review the benefits and then I will walk you through a full round of PMR for our meditation practice together. Get ready to power down, it’s time to Hurry Up And Meditate.
We are all deserving of life’s good fortunes. When good things show up for us, both big and small, it stirs joy from within us. Kindness from strangers, a stroke of luck, found money, new opportunities, good parking spots. Every day, in some small way, the winds of good fortune can blow your way.
It’s a lifelong practice is to raise your vibrational alignment to be in tune with good fortune. This sentence can sound too woo-woo and off the charts for much of the population, so for today, let’s keep our quest for good fortune physical and logical for this exercise.
Today’s meditation uses the modalities of music and mudras to tap into the good fortunes in store for you. I’ll guide you into a mudra (hand position) that you can use any time you want to emphasize your good thoughts and goals for the future with confidence. Bring on the Good Fortune as we Hurry Up And Meditate!

We have all felt that some one or some thing was draining our energy. How do we know how much energy we have to give away? What does the habit of checking the level of your own energy tank look like for you and how do you decide how much you have to give to another person or to the next task or even to yourself?
Let’s explore these questions and more in today’s episode as we Hurry Up and Meditate.
When was the last time you felt contentment? Where were you, what were you doing? Do you only look to meditation when you are feeling stressed, or do you also turn to your practice when you are feeling perfectly content and want to enhance that feeling?
Today we pair the notion of contentment with a mindfulness meditation. Whether you are looking for contentment or you are bringing it with you into your practice today, let’s enjoy it together as we Hurry Up And Meditate.
Where did you pick up the habit of people pleasing? When did that habit become a personality trait? At what point did the needs of others become more important than you own?
There is so much to unpack under umbrella of “People Pleasing”. Today, we can talk about it, learn tips to manage it, explore with some journaling and meditate on self-awareness. All of this in about 15 minutes. Click now to Hurry Up And Meditate.

Listen in as we break down the concept of simple pleasures and the role they play. Why do they matter and most importantly, what does your unique list of simple pleasures include?

Even though self-care is essential for total body health, it is not always accessible or easy. There are days when I just don’t feel motivated or have time for your self. I have tasks to attend to and I can’t squeeze in time to relax. This is when self-care feels annoying.
Let’s explore this idea further and create a Self-Care Reference Sheet that can be used the next time some self care is in order. Then, I’ll walk you through a guided meditation that will help you to appreciate the little things in life with more gratitude.
It’s time to Hurry Up And Meditate.

John Lennon said, “Creativity is a gift. It doesn’t come through if the air is cluttered.” This quote inspired a Google deep dive about decluttering and landing on articles about Feng Shui. I am a Feng Shui novice. I have heard of it, but have never learned nor used the concept. Luckily, professional Feng Shui consultants like Anji Cho and writer Grace Bueley Hunt, have done their research for me to share.
I’ve gathered some elementary level fun facts and a list of dos and don’ts to try out so that we can integrate some Feng Shui in our homes starting this week.
The meditation lesson on practice in today’s episode is Sitali breath or cooling breath. This is a technique you can use after a workout to slow your heart rate or if you are experiencing any anxiety or nervous energy that you bring down a few notches, you can use it to balance your breathing.

There is a Chinese Proverb that says, “When the winds of change blow, some people build walls and some build windmills.”
Change is inevitable. Nothing stays exactly the same forever. People, nature, circumstances all grow and develop over time. They are meant to evolve in order to become the best versions of themselves and be able to contribute to their environment.
A benefit of meditation is it can provide a path to the core center of your being when something unforeseen occurs. This centered-feeling can help you to respond rather than react to change, making you stronger and more resilient when the winds of change are blowing in your direction.

Louise Hay, founder of Hay House Publishing, and author of several books about connecting the mind and body said, “Feeling resistance is the first step to change.”
Change presents risk on two levels. Risk of moving forward into the unknown of tomorrow and the risk of letting go of yesterday.
This episode examines our fear of change, prescribes an active journal assignment, and uses neck release exercises to help you embrace a flexible attitude. The show ends with some soothing music to help you chill as you release resistance and allow change. Why resist when you can Hurry Up And Meditate?
Let’s train your brain! It’s time to Hurry Up And Meditate!
Today we will explore the feelings of being misunderstood. Then we'll address the core questions, "Can I detach from the pain of feeling misunderstood by another person? Can I accept that they do not fully connect with me on this topic or at this time? Can I be okay without their acceptance and understanding?"
I will use a few minutes to talk about Santosha. This yogic concept reminds us to look inward and find our own peace & acceptance. A feeling of contentment with who we are and how we feel in this moment.
We'll end our time together with a guided meditation to feel grounded. Got 23 minutes? Let's Hurry Up And Meditate!

This episode is partly an offering to any teens who might be listening to this podcast and partly a reflection and advice for my own inner child to remember and embrace.

This began an exploration into the topic and I really like how it came out. I shared a few of Ms. Spencer's suggestions and added a few of my own. There is a Guided Meditation at the end written by Sean Fargo about Believing In Yourself that is applicable for all ages. Join me now. It's time to Hurry Up And Meditate.

One way to cultivate our meditation practice is to use PRATYAHARA, a withdraw of the senses. In this meditation, we will eliminate two of our senses to heighten our practice, 1) closing our eyes and 2) numbing our hearing with the white noise from a fan.
During this meditation, if your thoughts begin to intrude, simply come back to your breath and the sound of the fan. It's time to Hurry Up And Meditate.

ADHD brains find meditation challenging at the very least. It is so difficult to focus that many people with this neurodivergent condition give up on meditation all together. In this episode of Hurry Up And Meditate, I have combined a physical focus tool, like a fidget toy, to assist my audience with their ability to stay present during meditation.
We also take the time to discuss the Pomodoro Method as a timed task management tool for folks with ADHD. A written practice plus analysis questions included!

Good leaders perform an analysis well and often. SWOT is an acronym that stands for strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats and it is an easy and effective way to evaluate most situations. It helps leaders to obtain an objective view of a situation or a decision they are weighing.
Analyzing the benefit of meditation in your life is a bit more subtle. I can tell you that you’ll start to feel a shift in your life after you have been regularly meditating for a few days. After a few weeks, it will be undeniable.
The first change I began to feel when I started meditating was a mental clarity and an ease of decision-making throughout my day. The sense of knowing exactly who I was and what I wanted came easier to me on days when I meditated. I felt calmer and more confident.
The implementation of new ideas require courage. Is there an idea that you have been toying with in secret? You know, the idea that crosses your mind and your reaction is, Ooo wouldn’t it be cool if we could do this? Yea, THAT idea.

When you must navigate difficult circumstances, search for pieces of surrounding gratitude. This is the episode where I talk about difficult work days and how I ignited my creative thinking through a gratitude meditation.
Some days, meditation will come easier than others. It is common and you have to be kind to yourself. If you are forcing yourself to meditate you must pause and examine why you are resisting. Be kind and allow yourself to end your session if it is stressing you out. You can always come back and try again—these words are an act of kindness and compassion towards yourself.
Your inner thoughts, inspirations, creativity become voiced opinions, work and habits that provide energy for the team to move the project forward. Overall, your voice can be a key contribution to the quality of the outcome.
You can use your voice in meditation as well. A mantra is a sound, word or phrase that is used as a tool to help concentrate your mind during meditation. Many people find mantras helpful because whenever your thoughts start to wander, you can simply return to your mantra and you are quickly back on track with your meditation. It’s like an anchor. Let's try a mantra today as we hurry up and meditate!
I love teaching a Gap Style Meditation to people who are new to meditating. This method will help you discover what it feels like to be in a meditative state. Once you have experienced this meditative sensation, it becomes easier and easier to come back to it the next time you meditate.
I also love the Gap Style Meditation because it taught me an important lesson: meditation is not about silencing all of your thoughts. It’s learning how to find the space in between your thoughts and resting there. Then, learning to expand the silence a little more every time. Understanding this simple principle helped me so much and I want to do the same for you today.
