This is the revamped Retail Ranger Podcast covering my personal thoughts and opinions that I've gathered in my 36 years in the grocery retail world. Those same thoughts and opinions are mine and not that of my employer.
In a riveting three part episode, I rant about Facebook Community Groups, a car dealership's attempt to take advantage of my youngest daughter and close it with a captivating anecdote about Lady Muffin of Midlothian.
Today we announce that this is the final episode of the Retail Ranger Podcast. We're taking the summer off and coming back in the fall with a new format. We will be covering more helpful topics such as disaster preparedness, canning, communications, container gardening etc. We sincerely appreciate everyone's support over the last year and a half and are looking forward to our next adventure together. Peace!
Memorial Day Weekend! More retail earnings, Dollar General struggling with workplace safety and we delve into subscription boxes. Liz took a bye week but we found a shopping list with a recipe so all is good.
Episode 75~ Consumer debt isn't going down like it usually does. Several retailers announced 1st quarter earnings (it's a mixed bag). New York is installing kiosks to stop retail theft, lol. I found the first produce manager I ever worked with and Liz talks about her infamous enchilada dish.
Happy Mother's Day! CPI, Wegman's, Costco, Dollar Tree and Tyson Foods get the Retail Roundup this week. We also talk about the disconnect between higher wages and lower productivity. We have three shopping lists as well.
Ay Eye- It's here to stay. Liz talks chicken, we discuss the jobs report, jenny craig, shopify and hardee's. Bed Bath & Beyond owes vendors a lot of cash. We discuss an article that praises AI's natural selection skills. Apparently the terminator series is a documentary. Start raising backyard chickens. Now.
Bed Bath & Beyond Coupons aren't dead yet! Gap Inc layoffs, self checkouts increasing in grocery and shrinkflation is real. Is Amazon going to buy stores divested in the Kroger/Albertson's merger? Liz makes a Mounds cake and honestly, it's legit.
Bed Bath & Beyond Bankruptcy! Whole Foods restructuring, store loyalty being challenged and there's still some supply chain/labor issue impacting the retail world. Liz shares some ideas on how to make leftovers into fresh meals and we read two shopping lists.
Clean up on aisle 13! Wegman's Buzz Coffee shops on the chopping block? Amazon might be making a move to become a legit grocery chain and Walmart closing half of their stores in Chicago. ORC is still an issue. We also have some shopping lists!
Heavy Duty Duke's Mayo?? We cover the latest job report, Costco's sales dip, FootLocker closings and of course, lab grown chicken. We also talk about Walmart going towards automation and the outlook on worldwide egg prices.
We say goodbye to a retiring Retail Ranger! Shrinkflation, workplace safety and a high dollar employee theft case are discussed in this week's Retail Round Up. We close talking about "Mammoth Meatballs" and "Government Cheesiness". Real cool mash up with Metallica and Men without Hats at the end of the episode.
Stop, bust a move! We have a log update on our last day of vacation. We watched Cocaine Bear, cleared some brush from the Ranch and ate Liz's brick chicken. The retail roundup consists of e-commerce woes, AI/robot replacements and proof that people don't like plant based seafood. Shocker.

We took the plunge.....chef Liz has a new-ish ride. The Golden Girls are feeding in to the conspiracy theory, we straight up bust them. Liz gets my belly rumbling again with her meatballs in a roll recipe, then teases mozzarella sticks. We update some product availability issues and end with our 80's song or poheem game.
Liz brings a mash up of two "big game" appetizers. We bring up the lawsuits and layoffs regarding "big fake meat". Our big takeaway is the exposure of BIG EGG and the collusion to put profit over people. We end with our 80's song or poeeem game and discuss the apparent UFO/apocalypse that is currently happening. Good times.
RIP Fred la Marmotte, who had a very untimely death. Liz talks cinnamon rolls & coconut shrimp. Little labor force update followed by a date night where we supported local stuff. Liz crushes the poeeem or song game and we gained 2 followers (we're assuming the balloon helped). Dontcha know that its our love that's burning like a flame?

We got off to a late start today, I had a great reason and we talk about it. We also talk a little bit about butter and the overall impact that inflation is having on that category. I'm super psyched to have Liz's chicken tenders for dinner tonight, let's just say it rhymes with brick jill ayy.
Today we talk about a potential grocery chain merger, getting robbed of 20 tortilla chips and Liz now knows that I have a motorcycle license. We also chat about one of our favorite shows (On Patrol Live) and how the ATF looked at one of my social media profiles. Oh, I also was a mad scientist/Prince's keyboard player for Halloween as a young lad and won some Utz Potato Chips as a 3rd place prize!
Printer rage, broken glasses, a missing chicken and not so good news for the plant based category. Liz brings the positive mojo with her no bake blueberry cheesecake, farfalle lasagna casserole and homemade artisan bread talk. We also talk about the new term "skimpflation". The people spoke and changed the world. Oh, and Bush has a new album and it's pretty danged good.
