Environmental experts have weighed in on the causes of green economy saying a green economy would bring in several benefits to the people and the country at large.
For Uganda a green economy would mean recovering the degraded environment and promoting afforestation, improving soil fertility, prevent soil erosion etc.
Green economy for Uganda would mean social equity where all must participate in conservation efforts as they draw their livelihoods without endangering the environment and fellow man.
It would also mean adopting environment friendly technology like use of energy saving stoves, solar energy among others.
In my story experts say what needs to be done to protect the green economy in the country.
Millions of children are at risk as sexual abuse, unintended pregnancies, child marriages, and severely restricted access to vital sexual and reproductive health information and services have already been reported during this lockdown.
It is happening both in rural and urban areas but very worse in rural areas because the lockdown has caused a highrate of poverty in the people.
School closures and lockdown measures have also led and still leading to a shadow pandemic of gender-based violence and rates of child marriage, teenage pregnancy and female genital mutilation are predicted to soar. Girls and young women have died because they cannot access vital sexual and reproductive health information and services.
Many children have been raped both from relatives and local villagers without being helped by the authorities.
Ugandan law defines defilement as the act of having sex with a girl under 18, while rape is having sex with a woman without her consent
Experts have come out with Measures put in place to tackle problems like teenage pregnancy facing children by stake holders in the country as the story prevails.
