Hi! This is the last blogcast of week 3! This week we studied the special BE verb and also the 5 W’s. You can use these together – let’s see how!

Where is she?

Why arewe learning English?

Who arethey?

What time isclass?

When amI going to finish school?

How are you?

How long isthe class?

How many people are there?

I am excited.

We arehappy students.

It is notan expensive house.

They are not Japanese.

You area good surfer.

See how the BE verb changes?

One more thing. In writing and speaking we usually ‘contract’ the Subject and Be Verb! Look and listen to how it is different. I will say the normal way, the contracted positive and the contracted negative. Listen to 2 different ways to say the contracted negative!

I am - I’m - I’m not

You are - You’re - You’re not/ You aren’t

He is - He’s - He’s not / He isn’t

She is - She’s - She’s not / she isn’t

It is - It’s - It’s not / It isn’t

We are - We’re - We’re not / We aren’t

They are - They’re - They’re not / They aren’t

Practice repeating these so you remember. Also practice online with your teacher next class! That is all for this week. See you next week!

Hello! Welcome to week 2 session 3. This week you learnt about how to make basic sentence and about pronouns. You also studied a lot of new words like adjectives, verbs and sports. Let’s see how we can make simple sentences better by using adjectives.

You will hear 2 sentences, the first sentence is a simple sentence (S+V+O). The second sentence will be the same BUT with 1 or 2 adjectives. We add adjectives before the noun, (S+V+Adj+O) Adding adjectives is a good way to improve your English!

1a- My dad likes cars.

1b – My dad likes expensive, fast cars.

2a – I have 2 sisters.

2b – I have a tall sister and a short sister.

3a – He is a man.

3b – He is an ugly man.

4a – I like my teacher.

4b – I like my teacher, she is kind.

We use adjectives to describe things or people. You can use these adjectives to tell your new friends about your life. Remember to use possessive adjectives too!

My name is Sandra. My mum is tall and pretty, I like her cooking. My dad is strong and kind, I watch his tennis games. I live in my parents’ big house. We have some pets, 2 dogs and 1 cat. Milo is my favourite pet, he is cute. Spot is my dad’s pet and Scratch is my mum’s pet. I go to a small school from Monday to Friday. We play soccer on Friday, soccer is cool! My classmates are kind and funny.

WOW! A lot of adjectives and possessive adjectives. Try to write your own sentences about you and your family! Share them with your teacher next class.

Have a good weekend. See you next week.
