Sometimes during our personal healing journey, we can be so hard on ourselves. I’m here to remind you to be present and to me mindful of all the progress you’ve made. Changing your mind is growth. Growth is progress. Please remember that it is ok and even beneficial to check-in with yourself. Reevaluate your tools and techniques used to see if they are still beneficial to your journey, then pivot and/or press forward. Be Well✨

My birthday is coming up (26 September) and I wanted to show myself some love. Lately I’ve been really hard on myself and needed a reminder that I am exactly where I need to be. That I see and accept every part of me. Most importantly, that I love me. Growth is a beautiful thing, and so are the scars that come along with it. ✨

Slight trigger warning: I am talking about my experience with grief and unhealthy ways I tried coping.

As I said in one of my earlier podcasts, I wanted to be vulnerable and authentic. Here I am walking in that.

I want to be clear about the difference between hurt and harm. Something’s may hurt but ultimately ignite growth. While other things may feel good and cause harm. Sometimes you have to get thru the initial hurt to get to the healing.

With this episode I pray it brings healing to me and whoever this is intended to help.

It took me a while to record this because I was so hesitant to talk about it. I wanted this podcast to be inspiring and helpful, but in order for that to be true, I must first be vulnerable. I’m trusting God to make this beautiful. He gives us beauty for ashes.

According to google, Control is the power to influence or direct people's behavior or the course of events.

Manipulating energy for things that you think you want is rooted in the need for control. Which is based in fear. God doesn’t give us the spirit of fear. You can’t have faith and fear at the same time. As the Bible says, without faith, there is no pleasing God. Instead of submitting and letting go of that fear, we cling and fight to hold on to any sense of being in control that we have. We will fight tooth and nail for that perception of control.

Forgiveness is deciding that you will be ok whether or not they ever feel remorse or apologize. You have to choose to be whole, whether or not you ever hear “I’m sorry.”

Pack Light: verb

Be the light everywhere you go. Only bring the essentials that you need. Let it go and heal; mentally, physically, spiritually and emotionally. (Don’t be a Bag Lady. Word to Badu.)

Life is a conversation. Conversations between you and other people. You and your environment. You and yourself. How do you talk to yourself? What is your tone when you make a mistake? When you forget something? We are living in a world of our own making. Our thoughts become our words and our words become our reality. Think of a time something someone said made you feel something. Sad, happy, excited, anxious. Sticks and stones may break your bones, but words plant seeds. Think of your mind as soil. If certain words are allowed to penetrate your mind, they may take root & get watered by different thoughts and mindsets. It’s much more dangerous than a broken arm, because sometimes you don’t even know it’s happening. You can’t treat what you don’t acknowledge or even know is there. Some roots are so deep in your psyche, you don’t even know its affecting you. It’s your new normal. You’re functioning in toxicity. That toxicity may be engrained in your family that is now your culture. Do you see how easily a negative thought contributes to toxic behavior? We have to be much more intentional with our words. That simply means slowing down, and thinking before we speak. Next time you react to something you or someone else does, ask yourself, “why did I say that?” “Where did that come from?” “Is that what I truly meant?” This week let’s be impeccable with our word. According to google, Impeccable means in accordance with the highest standards of propriety; faultless. Be sure to say what you mean and mean what you say. Until next time remember, Words are Power. Speak Life, Always.
