He gave us the details on how the process works and it was well worth the time to listen to his expertise. A little bit about Steve; Real estate has always been a passion of mine. I enjoy interacting, educating and helping my clients through the buying and selling process. I have a background in construction and general contracting which gives me an advantage when working with buyers and or investors. Working with distressed sellers and or properties is my primary focus, I fully understand the short sale process which can be difficult at times for sellers. With a large network of investors and marketing experience my team will be sure to sell your home.

Haley Levine Wills was this weeks guest host. And just like past agents in the past, she came prepared and shared some great information about real estate.
Haley is the leader of the HomeCo team at Compass. She has been in the real estate business since 2016. She is a lifelong resident of the Chicago area and comes from a long line of entrepreneurs. Selling and negotiating are in her DNA! She grew up in Hyde Park until the age of 16 when her family moved to Wilmette to be in the New Trier Township High School District - her alma mater. She then went on to study design at Columbia College. While her family might argue that she wasted some serious cash on a design degree, she believes her design background serves her real estate clients well - it has allowed her to rework layouts and choose finishes that sell and stage homes appropriately. Her favorite thing about Chicago is its distinctly unique neighborhoods. She has lived in West Town, Lincoln Park, Bucktown, Lakeview and Logan Square. In 2017 her husband and her bought a two-unit building in Logan Square. The first floor unit of their building was a hair salon for over 30 years. Seeing as she still can’t figure out how to properly blow dry her own hair (her words, not mine), they remodeled the hair salon into a live-work loft and rented out the top floor to their lovely tenants. It was a big project but absolutely worth the work as well as a solid investment! Currently, they are renovating their "forever" home in Ravenswood Manor. She spent most of her time in the spring and summer supporting her clients in buying and selling real estate, which is her true passion. When real estate slows down in the winter, she loves to travel. Her goal is to visit 100 countries. Perhaps you can tell her where to go next! She also enjoy stand-up comedy, hunting down mid-century or modernist furniture and sipping on a good hard cider.

Another great show with one hell of a great personality. I love hearing about what makes these professionals so special. Ryan didn't disappoint me at all. This was a funny show yet we came out with a few golden nuggets.

Karla Thomas is the founder and Managing Broker Urb & Burb Realty. An entrepreneur at her core, Karla started her first business at the age of 12 and the bug took hold and it's been a journey ever since.
It was not a straight path to her true calling: Real Estate Brokerage and Residential Renovation Specialist. In her words…"As they say, necessity is the mother of all inventions. After adopting our first daughter and starting on the path to adopting our second, my partner and I started the long journey of deciding whether to stay in the city or move to the suburbs. It took many grueling conversations, countless hours of internet research on schools, parks, crime reports by area, but we decided that we were going to move to the Northshore. Even though we were lucky enough to be able to narrow the suburb down to Evanston very quickly, we realized that Evanston itself had at least 5 very distinct neighborhoods in terms of feel, amenities, and price point. After navigating all these factors, we happily settled into a home, 2 years after we started this process. Throughout the process, I met and commiserated with many other families who were struggling through the same arduous process. As an efficiency expert in my corporate career (Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt), I knew that there must be an easier path…even if I needed to create it myself. As I worked to formulate the new real estate brokerage model that focused more on the right community than just the house, I was able to draw on my own experiences. I crafted a process that would allow families to easily access the information they need to make the best decisions and strategically get to know the neighborhoods that meet their hard criteria (price point, commute, school performance, amenities), and their soft criteria (walkability, neighborhood feel). Urb & Burb is a manifestation of all the things I learned in my journey married with a passion for real estate and helping others."

Rich Aronson is a life long Chicagoan and currently resides in the city’s dynamic East Rogers Park neighborhood.
Rich received a B.S. in Corporate Finance from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, School of Business in 1986, and received a law degree from DePaul University’s College of Law in 1990. Rich is also a non-practicing attorney, as well as a licensed real estate broker in Illinois.
Rich began his career practicing law for 6 years focusing primarily on administrative and governmental affairs law. He then switched career paths in 1995 to pursue his passion – real estate development – specifically the restoration and rehabilitation of historic and semi-historic single-family residences.
Rich has personally restored and re-developed over 20 single family homes, as well as more than 10 multi-unit condominium projects since 1995 and has won numerous community-based awards recognizing his passion and commitment to quality restoration and preservation.
