Source Music by WELC0MEΠ0 from Pixabay I never got to start working on these prompts by @artparks Sketchtember Challenge earlier, so I'm pretty much late by the given dates, but I read the admins said there wasn't any deadline and you can post a blog about it anytime, so now I am starting it before September ends, and I just realized while writing this that time flies so fast that the year is almost ending... and a reminder that my age will add again π
I jump to the 2nd-week Prompt which is a crossover because I'm still contemplating week one's topic since I drew 4 anime characters and I can't decide who to redraw. Last night I thought of my favorite character Suletta Mercury from Gundam Witch from Mercury and then I saw Rukia from bleach and thought "Hmm, why don't I try drawing Suletta wearing a captain uniform from Bleach"
SKETCHwell you don't really have to read much of what I'm about to say since you can see my progress with the timelapse video I shared above hahaha but I'll just put a little description on my experience trying this.
It's been a week now that I have tried using Clip Studio Paint, I am still learning how to use its tool by watching lots and lots of video tutorials about it and slowly getting it.
LINEARTwatching lots of video is confusing, the suggested brushes by different artists ain't a helped either, I realize you need to use a comfortable brush, i mentioned in my previous blog that I have found a perfect brush for me to use but I realize it's not cut out to be a good lineart for me, so I asked my friends on discord who also used CSP about their line art brushes which im still gonna explore again.
COLORI'm contemplating whether I should use a raster or vector layer because I wanted my drawing to look more like a sketchy one compared to a formal one on vector, but then, as a result, it looks ugly, HAHAH yes! I criticize my drawing a lot, I find it ugly because It doesn't result in what I have in mind and I wonder how other artists do it, clean line art, coloring it in a faster and coloring way...
I used laso tool to achieve a flat color but then It still looks unclean, why? because I used a single layer π
SET UPby single layer is this! One of my struggles with coloring is with layering, I know everything should be separated but my hard headed self just wanted to try a single layer,
so far the list of struggles I have to improve are
- my line art
- layering
and.. and... actually Zenbu!! EVERYTHING!! π€£
*sigh I'm still far from being a good digital artist similar to my artist idols i see on YouTube and TikTok, but
NEVER BACK DOWN NEVER WHAT?!!!NEVER GIVE UP! π€£I'm not giving up on my dreams of becoming a manga artist just yet
FINALwelp there's still so much to improve especially with the lighting since everything is still flat despite me putting shades on it, I'll work on the layerings and might actually try vector layer in csp to see if I can get a clean lineart with its process.. anyways!

I just followed what the woman was teaching here in tiktokHOW IT ALL STARTEDI mentioned in my previous blog that I'm going to unbox the items that I found in japan surplus.
The story is that I didn't put any effort into finding these items, simply because people who were rummaging through Japan's surplus didn't have any use for such items, they just placed them on the table, Luckily, I checked the empty ceramic area once more to see if there's some left for me to buy, but I found these babies instead,
It was a peso sale so I only bought these sweet babies at such price mehuehuehueh π happy me ~
Quality calligraphy papers were inside the bag, if you buy them online they'd be priced for 2-3 dollars, and to think I got em' for free ~
Paperweight and Ink sticks are also inside, I have been to Japan Surplus a lot of times before and I just ignored all ink sticks that I found in the sides, including bamboo brushes, but that was when I didn't like calligraphy back then, now that I have come to appreciate it, I regret not buying them all! but next time it'll be my priority.
I started appreciating calligraphy when I saw how inksticks are made ( click here ) It takes so much time and effort for it to be made yet I just see it in japan surplus in an unappreciated area, that's when I thought that I'm going to collect all of them since others don't see it's true value.
and here's the most common unappreciated item of all, ink stones, They are dumped anywhere but every time I found one I'd buy it, as long as it's priced lower π I know, I'm stingy ahahaha, to be honest, I'm fed up with collecting them but I still feel like I have some use of it someday, like making it as a weapon because they are heavy hahaha jk! but you know I'm hoping to get an Inkstone that's shaped in spiral with designs because they are very valuable and expensive ~
I've also watched Barakamon an anime about calligraphy, suggested by @jijisaurart, I love it so much that I watched it in one sitting, Naru (the kid who slapped the guy) is my favorite because she's so cute, but the character I relate to the most was handa-sensei (the guy that got slapped) lost his confidence after a director commented how common his calligraphy style are and they needed to mature, which led him to questions all his masterpiece and I thought of myself who also do the same when producing an artwork, anyways! After watching the movie and having inspiration by it,
I also started to make use of my calligraphy collections, and I also wore my hakama to add feeling to it ~ π Seriously though I just love copying what I see in anime ~ hahaha!
TRYING OUT KANA JAPANESE CALLIGRAPHY STYLEOther than shodΕ ( jap. traditional calligraphy) I also encountered the kana calligraphy style, a cursive way of writing Japanese characters, and the one above is what I practiced, copying this one It's not correct but I plan on learning more of it
I'm going to frame my first calligraphy art that I find beautiful and satisfying to look at, once I find myself a name stamp ~
Doing Japanese calligraphy is so fun that I ended up using half of the calligraphy papers I have, I don't know why but I started to get addicted to it.

I've been seeing this portable karaoke on TikTok, I thought this would be a good item to use during drinking sessions with my friends since we like to sing while bonding, and we no longer have to go to a KTV bar if we have it.
Other than that, I also thought of my life's leisure since I love to sing; a frustrated singer, to be honest, I sing a lot at home so this item is very useful to me. Upon checking the item's price it costs 25-29 dollars depending on the type selected, including the shipping fee. π±
It's too expensive for me to spend! Sobs π but my genius self thought of a good idea, EVIL LAUGH** π
you see, my father loves to sing, and he sings every day let me repeat that again
LITERALLY EVERYDAY! I thought once ill show him the item, he'd definitely buy it, Unlike me, my father sings very well, he's been singing ever since he was a teenager, to the point he let me practice singing too when he had me hahaha but I'm not as good as him.
Every time my friends come over and hear my father sing they are like
"jude your father sings so well" and I'm like " Really? He sounds normal to me" π€£
but my father got a mild stroke which stopped him from reaching high notes, I've seen how he tries getting that note up, but he can no longer reach it, but can still sing well not just high singing, click here if you want to see how he sings~ anyways, enough with the brief history hahaha
I ran going to our living and waited for him to finish singing, as I casually said
"Pa, I think you need to buy this one, very convenient for you to sing while you are out with your friends"
Then I proceeded to show the video I saw on TikTok, he asked how much and I said the price, my mom looked it up (my moms very supportive with my fathers singing btw) it didn't take them long to say yes and I should order it π meheheh Genius jude has done it again ~
technically I'm not the owner but I can always borrow it hahaha!
the item arrive 2 days ago, and I have to say it's so loud and the mic works fine alongside it, you can even use it if you need to announce something to people if you are outside hahaha
It has 2 mics, which are very convenient for someone who likes to do duets or can be a replacement if one mic gets a low battery so you can use the other one.
Bluetooth is its way of connection, and it can also be connected using a USB port through any device. It has different modes, a typical speaker like the ones we already have but just smaller,
the mic has buttons for turning off/on, changing vocal tones, and volume up and down, I've tried it and the mic is good to use, and very clear.
to my fellow Filipino who loves to sing ~ it's highly recommended, and worth the buy, having this will save you from spending money going out to sing in KTV bars, like just stay home sing using this and buying your own drinks, way cheaper ~ this can be in any online shops but I used shoppee more for it's low shipping fee compared to the other ones π
Fun fact! Filipino loves to sing ~ it's one of our national sports π€£ joke!
