S02 Ep036 - The decans and their forecasts, are determined by their astrological associations- so while we may look at the imagery in this card and think it would be a terrible predictor of our week, it's astrology tells a different story. The association for the Three of Swords is Saturn in Libra, and that's the association we need to keep in mind, when we are considering the energy that we are going to be experiencing during this card's reign or tenure. Saturn is cold, dark, heavy, wet, dreary…. Hence the rain in the Rider-Waite-Smith card behind the heart. Libra is the sign of love and beauty, ruled by Venus- hence the heart on the card. This card can predict a long-standing commitment, or a dark night of the soul, neither of which fits into the box with the meaning of "heartache" that typically accompanies this card. S02 Ep021 - Have you never noticed how many cards in your deck feature animals? Spoiler alert- in the RWS deck, it's 33! That's nearly half the deck! What does this mean? In the artwork of our decks, the animals are seen as symbols, they represent more than just something cute or interesting to look at. As a matter of fact, every animal has it’s own attributes that make it unique, and it's own spiritual meaning as well. Nearly none of the animals on your cards are placed there by accident or just to improve the artwork of the card or give you something interesting to look at.
Like all of the symbols on your cards, they have meaning. There are also 12 signs and 10 planetary bodies- again 22. This is no coincidence. Using the astrology of the tarot major arcana is a great way to read for timing. When learning to read the Tarot, one of the very first questions we find ourselves asking is, "Do I read reversals, and if so, HOW??" With 78 cards and meanings that already encompass lots of "sub-meanings" each, it can be extremely daunting to think about learning 78 more! But is that REALLY the case? S01 Ep005 - Typically, Court Cards are some of the most difficult cards for many readers to understand and interpret. Why? Because there are so many and they can be very similar. We have 16 cards that fall into a 4x4 matrix, where every card is similarly related to 3 other cards in one way (by Suit), and then to 3 other cards in another way (by Rank). All of a sudden, your head starts to spin a little and everything starts to look the same. Join me in this episode where I break down the many meanings for each of the ranks.
