101 – So be warned of your nation’s sons and be wary of them *** Just as you fear the lions and thetigers
92 – As goes from a face of nobility To one whose status becomes low after being high93 – Just as obedience [to Allaah] causes your status to reach the skies And makes you close [to Allaah], even if you are far94 – It causes your mention on earth to be beautiful And it opens the doors to good wherever you are95 – And you walk in its pathways honorably And you reap praise from where it was sowed
85 – You run away from the blazing sun and fear its heat So have you considered running away from the Hellfire86 – Nor can you endure its least punishment As even if you were made of iron, you would melt in it87 – And do not ignore, for the matter is serious For it is not how you perceive or think it to be88 – Oh Abu Bakr, you have exposed the least of my flaws While most of them you have kept hidden89 – So say what you wish about me from my shortcomings And increase for indeed you have spoken the truth90 – And whatever fault you found of me It is a praise compared to what I know of myself91 – So do not be pleased in exposing other’s flaws, for it is a great shame *** It causes your beloved ones to detest you
73 – And the young doing what young people do is ugly But an elder behaving like a youth is more ugly74 – Condemn yourself, and do not condemn anyone else For your flaws are superior to the one you condemn75 – For you are more worthy of refutation than me And if you were smart wouldn’t speak76 – And if you were to cry tears of blood out of fear Due to your sins, I would still not say you are safe [from punishment]77 – And who will guarantee you safety while you are a slave That was commanded, yet you did not follow or obey78 – You are heavily burdened with sins and you do not fear Due to ignorance that you may be little on the scales [of good and bad]79 – And you pity the persistent sinner And have mercy on him, yet you forget to pity yourself80 – You slipped backwards and knocked yourself down Only if you had reached the appointed goal .You wouldn’t have went backwards81 – And if you were to meet your Lord without any sin And then be disputed concerning your account, then [in that case] you are destroyed82 – As he would not wrong you in anyway However heavy is the trust you carry
64 – You call me out and blame me for being negligent While you neglect to call yourself out65 – And in my youth you would scare me with death Yet you don’t know your condition when you are old66 – And in your youth you were on the right path So why in your old age would you override it67 – And I did not engage into an ocean of sins As you down up until you drown68 – Nor did I drink from the mother of filth’s cup While drank from it until you became drunk69 – Nor was I brought up in a time in which there was much benefit While you were brought up in it and did not benefit70 – Nor did I enter upon a valley in which there was oppression While you entered it and took partin its transg71 – Verily you befriended the major scholars Yet I do not see you following the example of those you befriended
58 – And ask from your Lord to grant you success And be sincere in your asking when you ask59 – And supplicate when you prostrate to him, confessing your sin With what was supplicated to the Lord by Dhun Nun son of Matta [Prophet Yunus]60 – And stick to knocking on his door Perhaps he will open his door if you knock61 – And continuously increase his remembrance in the earth So he may remember you in the heavens when you remember Him62 – And do not say I am young, I have time Ponder, for how many get buried in their youth?63 – And say Oh advisor, rather you are the first To act upon your own advice if you could but see your own actions
47 – And its likeness if you ponder over it - Is like the fleeting shadow or a dream that you dreamt49 – You eat what she brings forth - But soon she will eat from you [in the grave]50 – You become naked when you wear her cloths - And if you remove her clothing you become clothed51 – And you witness everyday a burial *- And it’s as if what you saw will not happen to you52 – And you were not created to inhabit her - Rather to transit her, so take your purpose of creation seriously53 – And if she became destroyed, then increase her in ruining - And guard your religion to the best of your ability
40 – And if they ride on branded fine horses Then your ride is the fear of Allaah as a methodology41 – And no matter how many beautiful maidens he had intercourse with For how many maiden shave you won over with wisdom?42 – And poverty will not harm you at all If you have knowledge of your Lord43 – For how much goodness does he [Allaah] have in store for you If you fill your courtyard with his obedience?44 – So accept my word and my advice to you For if you turn away from it, you have lost45 – But if you guard it with speech and action And do business with Allaah with it, then you have won46 – For this Dunya [world] is nothing It grieves you for long periods and makes you happy for a short span47 – And its likeness if you ponder over it Is like the fleeting shadow or a dream that you dreamt
34 – Your knowledge will soon attest for you in high regards - And it will be recorded for you, even if you hide it [knowledge]35 – What is the point of erecting buildings *- When your ignorance will only demolish it?36 – You prefer money over knowledge, unknowingly - Indeed you have not been just in your reasoning37 – And between them in the divine text is a great difference - You will know this if you read Taha[Surah Ta-Ha]38 – And if the rich one raises his flag of wealth - Then your flag shall be raised with your knowledge39 – And if the rich one reclines on mattresses - Then you shall recline on the stars40 – And if they ride on branded fine horses - Then your ride is the fear of Allaah as a methodology41 – And no matter how many beautiful maidens he had intercourse with - For how many maiden shave you won over with wisdom?
9 – And you will carry with it in your gatherings a crown [be respected] - And cloth you with beauty when uncovered10 – You will grasp its benefits for as long as you live - And its virtue will last with you when you are gone [dead]11 – It is the sharp sword that doesn’t err - You strike with it whoever you wish12 – It is the treasure that is not to be stolen - Light in weight, with you wherever you are13 – It increases when it is spent abundantly - And it decreases when you withhold from spending14 – If you would only taste from its sweetness - You would have given preference to learning and you would strive for it
1 -- The days have weakened your heart - And the hours have traces on your body2 – And death calls you with a true call - So oh my companion, perhaps your time is near3 – I seen you desire the virgin wife [dunya] - Who the intelligent ones have divorced and will never take her back4 – You are sleeping as time goes, woe to you in your snoring - Until you die, then you will awaken5 – How long will you be deceived and tricked? - And when will you cease from it?6 – Oh Abu Bakr, I am calling you, perhaps you would respond - To a great fortune which you will reap if you only understand7 – To a knowledge that will make you an Imaam - Obeyed when commanding and when reprimanding8 – And it will remove from your eyes that which is veiled *** And guide you to the path if you go astray
On the authority of Anas, who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah say:"Allah, the Exalted, has said, 'O son of Adam, as long as you supplicate Me andimplore Me, I will forgive for you whatever issued from you, and I will not mind.O son of Adam, even if your sins reached the clouds of the sky and then yousought My forgiveness, I would forgive you. O son of Adam, even if you cometo Me with nearly the earth's capacity of sins and then meet Me withoutassociating anything with Me, I will come to you with nearly its capacity offorgiveness.'"(Narrated by at-Tirmidhi, who said it was a ḥasan-ṣaḥeeḥ ḥadith)
On the authority of Abu Muḥammad, `Abdullah the son of ʽAmr bin al-ʽAas, who said: The Messenger of Allah said:"None of you [truly] believes until his inclination is in accordance with what I have brought."(A ḥasan-ṣaḥeeḥ ḥadīth transmitted from Kitab al-Ḥujjah with a ṣaḥeeḥ chain)
On the authority of Ibn ʽUmar, who said:The Messenger of Allah took me by the shoulder and said, "Be in the worldas though you were a stranger or a wayfarer."And Ibn ʽUmar used to say, "When you have reached the evening, do not awaitthe morning; and when you have reached morning, do not await the evening.Take from your health for your illness and from your life for your death."(Narrated by al-Bukhari)
On the authority of Ibn ʽAbbas that the Messenger of Allah said:"Allah has overlooked for me from my nation [what is done in] error andforgetfulness and what they are compelled to do."(Ḥadith ḥasan narrated by Ibn Majah, al-Bayhaqi and others)
On the authority of Abu Hurayrah, who said: The Messenger of Allah said:"Allah, the Exalted, has said, 'Whoever is an enemy to My loyal friend – onhim I declare war. My servant does not draw near to Me with anything moreloved by Me than what [religious obligations] I have imposed on him. And Myservant continues to draw near to Me with additional works until I love him; andwhen I love him, I am his hearing with which he hears, his sight with which hesees, his hand with which he strikes, and his foot with which he walks. If heasked [something] of Me, I would surely give it to him; and if he sought refugewith Me, I would surely grant it to him.'"(Narrated by al-Bukhari)

On the authority of Ibn ʽAbbas from the Messenger of Allah is that amongthe sayings he relates from his Lord (glorified and exalted be He) is that He said:"Allah has registered the good deeds and the bad ones. Then He clarified it,[saying], 'He who intended [to do] a good deed and did not do it – Allah writesit with Himself as a complete good deed; and if he intended it and did it – Allahwrites it with Himself as ten good deeds up to seven hundred times or manytimes [over that]. And if he intended [to do] a bad deed and did not do it –Allah writes it with Himself as a complete good deed; but if he intended it anddid it – Allah writes it as one bad deed.'"(Narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim in their two Ṣaḥeeḥs in these words)
On the authority of Abu Hurayrah that the Prophet said:"Whoever relieves a believer of a distress from the distresses of this world –Allah will relieve him of a distress from the distresses of the Day of Resurrection.And whoever facilitates [a matter] for one in financial difficulty – Allah willfacilitate for him [matters] in this world and the Hereafter. And whoever covers[the fault of] a Muslim – Allah will cover his [faults] in this world and theHereafter. Allah is in aid of [His] servant as long as the servant is in aid of hisbrother. And whoever follows a path seeking knowledge therein – Allah willfacilitate for him a path to Paradise. No people assemble in one of the houses ofAllah reciting the Book of Allah and studying it among themselves but thattranquility descends upon them, mercy envelops them, the angels surroundthem, and Allah mentions them among those with Him. And he whose deedsslow him down will not be accelerated by his lineage."(Narrated by Muslim in these words)

Explanation of 40 Hadith of Al nawawi - Hadith # 30On the authority of Abu Thaʽlabah al-Khushani, Jurthum bin Nashir, that theMessenger of Allah said:"Indeed, Allah, the Exalted, has imposed [religious] obligations, so do notneglect them. And He has set limits, so do not overstep them. And He hasprohibited things, so do not violate them. And He has kept silent about[certain] things out of mercy to you, not forgetfulness, so do not search themout."(Ḥadīth ḥasan narrated by ad-Daraqutni and others)
Explanation of 40 Hadith of Al nawawi - Hadith # 29On the authority of Mu‘adh bin Jabal, who said: I said, "O Messenger of Allah, inform me of a deed which will take me into Paradise and keep me away from the Fire." He said, "You have asked me about a tremendous matter, but indeed, it is easy for one for whom Allah, the Exalted, makes it easy. You should worship Allah, associating nothing with Him, establish prayer, fast [the month of] Ramadhan, and make the pilgrimage to theHouse."149 Then he said, "Shall I not point out to you the gates of goodness? Fasting is a shield. Charity extinguishes sin as water extinguishes fire and [sodoes] the prayer of a man in the middle of the night." Then he recited: "They forsake their beds, invoking their Lord in fear and hope, and spend of that We have provided them. And no soul knows what has been hidden for them of satisfaction as reward for what they used to do."150 Then he said, "Shall I not inform you of the head of the matter, its pillar and the peak of its elevation?" I said, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah." He said, "The head of the matter is islam [i.e., submission], its pillar is prayer, and the peak of its elevation is jihad." Then he said, "Shall I not inform you of the foundation of all that?" I said, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah." So he took hold of his tongue and said, "Restrain this." I said, "O Prophet of Allah, will we be blamed for what we talk about?" He said, "May your mother be bereaved of you, O Mu‘adh! Does anything topple people into the Fire on their faces" or he said, "on their noses except the harvests of their tongues?"(Narrated by at-Tirmidhi, who said it was ḥasan-ṣaḥeeḥ)
Explanation of 40 Hadith of Al nawawi - Hadith # 28On the authority of Abu Najeeḥ al-‘Irbadh bin Sariyah, who said: The Messenger of Allah admonished us with a warning from which [our]hearts became fearful and [our] eyes shed tears. So we said, "O Messenger of Allah , it is as if it was a final warning, so instruct us." He said, "I direct you to fear Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, and to hear and obey, even if a slave is made a leader over you. For indeed, he who lives long among you will see much controversy. So you must adhere to my sunnah and the sunnah of the rightly guided caliphs; clench it with your molar teeth. And beware of newly devised matters, for every newly devised thing is an innovation, and every innovation is misguidance, and every misguidance is in the Fire."(Narrated by Abu Dawud and at-Tirmidhi who graded it ḥasan-ṣaḥeeḥ)

Explanation of 40 Hadith of Al nawawi - Hadith # 25Also on the authority of Abu Dharr: Some of the companions of the Messenger of Allah said to the Prophet : "O Messenger of Allah, the affluent have taken the rewards: they pray as we pray,they fast as we fast, and they give in charity the excess of their wealth." He said, "Has not Allah made something for you to do in charity? Indeed, in each saying of 'subḥan Allah' is a charity, and each 'Allahu akbar' is a charity, and each'al-ḥamdulillāh' is a charity, and each 'la ilaha ill-Allah' is a charity, and enjoining what is right is a charity, and prohibiting what is wrong is a charity, and in the sexual intercourse of one of you is a charity." They said, "O Messenger of Allah, does one of us indulge in his desire and get for it a reward?" He said, "Have you considered: if he were to do it unlawfully, would he have for it a burden [of sin]? Similarly, when he does it lawfully, he will have for it a reward."(Narrated by Muslim)
Explanation of 40 Hadith of Al nawawi - Hadith # 24 Part 1On the authority of Abu Dharr al-Ghifāri from the Prophet among that which he related from his Lord, the Mighty and Majestic, is that He said: "O My servants, indeed I have prohibited injustice for Myself and made it among you prohibited, so be not unjust to one another. O My servants, all of you are lost except whom I have guided, so seek guidance from Me and I will guide you. O My servants, all of you are hungry except whom I have fed, so ask Me for food and I will feed you. O My servants, all of you are naked except whom I have clothed, so ask Me for clothing and I will clothe you. O My servants, indeed you err by night and by day and I forgive all sins, so seek forgiveness of Me and I will forgive you. O My servants, never will you reach [so far as] to harm Me so you could harm Me, and never will you reach [so far as] to benefit Me so you could benefit Me. O My servants, if the first of you, the last of you, the humans of you, and the jinn of you were [all] as righteous as the most righteous heart of one man among you, it would not increase My dominion at all. O My servants, if the first of you, the last of you, the humans of you, and the jinn of you were as wicked as the most wicked heart of one man among you, it would not decrease My dominion at all. O My servants, if the first of you, the last of you, the humans of you, and the jinn of you were to stand in one place and ask something of Me and I gave each one his request, that would not decrease what I have except like the needle decreases [the water] when put into the sea. O My servants, it is only your deeds I enumerate for you and then I fully compensate you for them. So whoever finds good – let him praise Allah, and whoever finds otherwise should certainly not blame except himself."(Narrated by Muslim)
