After taking a couple week off, the Crew return to talk some #StarWars : #Visions - Volume 1. Before jumping into that, the Crew talk about some interesting news items as it relates to #GinaCarano [#CaraDune] and her settlement with #Disney, along with the recent admittance from Disney that they have lost viewership amongst the male audience.
Even though the DetBlock Crew have talked Visions Volume 1, Bogie had not joined the team yet. So, with it being a bit of a slow time for Star Wars news and content, Bogie watched episodes 6-9 of volume 1 of Visions, which Mike and him look to discuss.
Thoughts and prayers go out to all those impacted, especially the children and parents, from the school shooting at Annunciation Catholic School in #Minneapolis , MN. Being that both Bogie and Mike are from the Twin Cities and it hits close to home, they felt the need to address it.

Before jumping into that, Mike talks about his trip experience to #Montana and how the #AirBnB his family stayed in happened to be Star Wars themed. This was all a happy accident. Join Mudge and Bogie as they discuss some recent releases as it relates to upcoming #StarWars content. It's not much, but single stills were released for both the #Maul : Shadow Lord #animated show and #Ahsoka season 2. Even though it is just one photo for each, us Star Wars fans always love dissecting what we can. On top of that, there is a #rumor that #Netflix wants to buy out Star Wars from #Disney. We'll discuss our thoughts on the #validity of it along with the impact it would make if it is true. The DetBlock Crew also go a bit into gaming and talk about some older Star Wars #games like #Rebellion [board and video #game]. They also dive a little into other game franchises they enjoyed, like #AgeOfEmpries along with diving into some other great films, like #Gladiator. With the arrival of #StarWarsCelebration 2025, we expect a tidal wave of news, updates, new content, new trailers, new collectables and items... everything. It's always an exciting time for #StarWars fans. This year, we also get a very special trailer release originating from outside of Disney's umbrella of Star Wars and outside of Star Wars Celebration. We got the release of #StarWarsTheory 's #Vader II episode. Come join Mike as he watches it for the first time and reacts.
Following that, Mike delves into many of the major announcements and trailers that are coming from Celebration. Though he wanted to share some of the private trailers that were released, and recorded by passionate fans that may or may not be breaking the rules... But, in an effort to avoid a copyright strike, he'll just talk briefly about them and hope they'll be public soon.

For this week's episode, the DetBlock Crew took a little different route. To start off, Mike opens his recent purchase from #TheorySaber, where he purchased a lightsaber #BOGO. Theory Saber is a company that was started up by Star Wars YouTuber #StarWarsTheory, who is considered the largest Star Wars YouTuber in the market. Mike has always wanted to get his hands on one of his sabers, since SWT was one of the main inspirations behind the creation of DetBlock, so he ordered the #Anakin #Skywalker replica version Ani III SE Proffie 36" blade saber. Being that it was a mystery BOGO, he had no idea what the other one would be. Come see which is the 2nd one he received!
They then transitioned to playing kind of a fun game of #WouldYouRather. Their answers definitely did not disappoint! Did they get a little inappropriate at times? Certainly. Probably a little further than "a little inappropriate". However, they meant no harm and were just having a little fun. Play along and include your responses in the comments! Quite a tragedy it was to hear about the loss of a great actor who portrayed many great roles in many great movies including #Iceman in #TopGun, #Batman / #BruceWayne in #BatmanForever, #JimMorrison in #TheDoors, Doc Holliday in #Tombstone, and many more. He was also up for the role of #ObiWanKenobi in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. RIP, Val.
Finally, there has been some recent rumors circulating about the potential return of a possibility for a season 2 of the #Acolyte. This news is based off a social media data metric known as #ParrotAnalytics. The validity behind this is very much up in the air, but interesting to discuss.

For today's episode, the DetBlock Crew had the pleasure of bringing in their 7th prisoner, Luke [not Skywalker], to showcase his passion for Star Wars. As he calls himself, the "Super-Duper Super Nerd." From a young age, Luke had immediately become a dedicated fan of Star Wars and went way deep into the collecting aspect that the franchise brings. Collectable cards, comics, books, toys, posters... you name it. Luke has collected it. The struggle eventually became, where will he keep the stuff? Especially, since his wife has set the restriction of "No Star Wars outside of the basement." Come join the Crew as they learn about Luke's fascinating adventure of collecting Star Wars items and the amazing stories that it has brought along the way. Not to mention, the fascinating people he has had conversations with that have played major roles in building the Star Wars universe. Such a testament Luke is to the true spirit of Star Wars fans. The day after your DetBlock Crew discussed the news release from Puck and other outlets about the upcoming [potential] resignation of Kathleen Kennedy , Deadline released their interview with Kennedy in response to that news leak. The key line to pull from that... "The truth is, and I want to just say loud and clear, I am not retiring. I will never retire from movies. I will die making movies." Powerful response and statement to make. However, it is important to point out that the comment is on retirement , not about resigning. Meaning, not retiring doesn't mean she won't be resigning from her current position within Lucasfilm. In fact, she even speaks to the potential for her resignation within the year. For today's episode, the DetBlock Crew cover some hot topics that have been circulating within the Star Wars news lately. To start out, Mike, Bogie and Zach dive bring up the re-release of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith to theaters on April 25th to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the movie. The Crew hope to get into theaters to see this movie on the big screen once again. From there, the talk a little bit about Star Wars Celebration that will also be in April in Japan. Even though the Crew isn't able to go, they are looking forward to hearing where the next one will be in hopes to get everyone there.
From there, the guys shift gears to discuss the Andor Season 2 first official #trailer. Mike did a trailer reaction video for it the other day, but now they look to dive deeper into it. What did they see? What are their opinions? What are they looking forward to?
After spending some time on that, they then look to talk about the hottest topic in Star Wars news lately... The announcement about the upcoming resignation of Kathleen Kennedy. They all discuss their opinions of the matter and give their insight on what they feel this means for the future of Star Wars and who could potentially take over the throne. A lot rides on this HUGE upcoming decision, but many fans are holding on to HOPE for reigniting the Star Wars franchise.

With this week's episode, the DetBlock Crew look to discuss the 2nd half [episodes 3 & 4] of the LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy show that they started last week. Let's just say, the back half was just as entertaining as the front half! I mean come on, what's not to like about a JEDI DART VADER?? They are both very pleased that they finally stumbled across this and look for to checking out other LEGO Star Wars content found on Disney+.
From there, they look to discuss the next installment of the High Republic novel series that has come out. Temptation of the Force is the 2nd novel within Phase 3 of the High Republic, which Dustin just recently finished. Both Mike and Dustin have been really enjoying the previous novels from this era, well... maybe Phase 1 more specifically, so will this book live up to most of the rest? Well... um... maybe it should be considered more of a romantic love novel than a Star Wars book... Whoops, did I just spoil that?

Thanks to the unintentional efforts of Dustin's son, the DetBlock Crew stumbled across the LEGO Star Wars show Rebuild the Galaxy on Disney+. Not that they hadn't heard of the show or knew what it was about, but they finally got around to watching it. Dustin starts off by explaining how he came to watching it with his son and then encouraged Mike to go watch it. After watching the first two episodes, they just had to bring this to today's episode. Thus, Dustin and Mike look to talk through their reactions and opinions about the first two episodes of the show. They'll then look to watch the final two episodes next week for their next discussion. It goes without saying, this is something they DEFINITELY enjoyed. With the New Year now here and 2024 in the rear-view mirror, the DetBlock Crew want to take this time to look back at 2024 and gather their thoughts on what the year brought for Disney Star Wars. Coming off one of the most controversial years for the franchise, what does this mean going forward? Is the franchise doomed? Did Star Wars take a punch? Was this a necessary year to force some changes? Or did the franchise do enough to walk the line of going too far by expanding out enough to new audiences while still maintaining its loyal fans? They have their opinions; what are yours?
This then begs the question of what's to come with the upcoming 2025 year? We are all well aware of the countless announced movie projects that are "set" to release in 2026 and beyond. However, outside of Star Wars Celebration being in Japan and with only the 2nd and final season of Andor coming and a 3rd installment of Star Wars: Visions , there's nothing else currently announced for the year as it relates to movies or shows. Granted, there is speculation more might be announced at Celebration. Is this a "re-focus" or "re-gather" year? Maybe... and it's probably needed.

The DetBlock Crew start out by following through with their cliff hanger moment from their previous episode and talk through a recent addition to Bogie's collection, the original movie poster for Star Wars [before it was A New Hope]. The poster he acquired is in homage to the recent passing of its original creator, Greg Hildebrandt. From there, the Crew look to talk about the importance of movie posters and how pictures truly are worth 1,000 words. To that thought, what does the original Star Wars poster have to say about the movie? Come here Mike and Bogie's opinions.
From there, the DetBlock Crew look to talk through some recent news, such as the announcement of Visions being renewed for a 3rd volume / season set to be released in 2025. Some anime studios return from previous volumes while 5 new studios join in. Furthermore, merely days following the announcement of movie episodes X. XI, and XII, Disney / Lucasfilm announce that the release of the new Rey movie, New Jedi Order, has been taken down from the timeline and replaced by... Ice Age 6. What does that mean? As news starts to pick back up within the Star Wars universe, we are starting to hear... well, more of the same quite frankly. Once again, there is an announcement of new movies, a trilogy, that are to be produced. Shockingly, it looks to be a continuation of the Skywalker saga as they call the movies Episodes X, XI, and XII. For today's episode, the DetBlock Crew take a little time before going into some Star Wars conversation. However, you'll notice right away they dressed for the occasion, both being in Star Wars attire. Mike is dressed up as a Jedi and Dustin is sporting his inquisitor mask from Jedi Tales.
Right away, Dustin looks to vent with a recent Fantasy Football match up that took place within the Crew. That's right, Mike and Dustin went up against each other in FFB and it won't take long for you to figure out who won.
From there, the Crew looks to talk about their Halloween plans. When they recorded, it was the eve of Halloween. Both Dustin and Mike are excited to get their kids some more and new Halloween memories. What are their plans for dressing up? Will they go out to trick-or-treat? Does Star Wars mix into their plans? For this week's episode, the DetBlock Crew bounce around a little bit with their topics. To start out, they discuss some news revolving around a particular character from a Star Wars movie you may or may not be familiar with that will be returning in the upcoming Star Wars show, Skeleton Crew. If you've seen our title thumbnail, you know who we are talking about. Yes, we're talking about Teek from Ewok Adventures: The Battle for Endor. Crazy enough, Mike and his wife actually ran into the actress who portrayed Teek [Niki Botelho] and they didn't even realize it at the time. Funny story, AMAZING person!
Bogie and Mike then delve into the concept that Star Wars projects need to be written and created by people or teams that are fans of the franchise. Enough of the bringing in new people who have minimal to no knowledge of the Star Wars franchise, as Disney has specifically done with some of their projects. Instead, let's utilize people like Dave Filoni, Jon Favreau, and hey... maybe some fan film creators! Kidding... kind of...
From there, the two guys start talking a little bit about the sequel trilogy and how jumping directors pretty much set that trilogy up for failure. What started with potential, ended with a project trying to quickly patch up the holes. Following that, they make a little comparison to what is going on with the Marvel universe and how confidence in that universe is waning as well and some of the reasons behind that.
After talking a little bit about the Ahsoka show, a new book being released centering around certain Acolyte characters, and some fan film productions, they then finish up their talk with more of Bogie's Clone Wars season one experience. As he pushes through more episodes of the show, he brings his insights and opinions on the episodes he's watched.

For this week's episode, the DetBlock Crew bounce around a few topics. To start out, they discuss some updates and news that revolves around Comicon, whether it be current or upcoming ones. On that topic, they then go into some releases as it relates to 2025 Star Wars Celebration in Japan.
Next, the Crew decide to be a little festive to get into the Halloween spirit. As they have been watching some scary movies or Halloween classics, they discuss if the aspect of horror could be brought into Star Wars. Could the franchise we all know and love dip into that type of genre and release a Star Wars Halloween movie or series [outside of the LEGO version one]? What possible themes or aspects could be tapped in here?
Finally, Bogie catches us up with where he is at in his first time watching Star Wars Clone Wars. He's gone back to watch the Clone Wars movie and he is now up to episode 10 of season 1 of the show. He shares his thoughts and notes from his watching as Mike lives vicariously through him, wanting to go back and re-live his own first time watching the show.

The DetBlock crew might have started off talking a little bit about sports [hey, we love our sports!], but then they first dive in to talking a bit about Star Wars video games. News came out that Outlaws is underperforming, but there's still plenty of time for that to turn around. However, this could also just be a continuation of the times for the franchise and the, what some say, misses Disney and Lucasfilm have made recently. Either way, there are still plenty of fun Star Wars video games out there, and Bogie and Mike talk through a few of those.
They then go into an interview that was recently aired where Star Wars Theory sits down with Stuart Beattie and they talk about Stuart's plan and story line for the original content that was going to be released about Obi-Wan Kenobi. Originally, instead of a show, Kenobi was going to be brought to the big screen with his own trilogy and Mr. Beattie wrote the script for all 3 movies. With everything going on in the early 2020's, this ended up getting scrubbed, changed up quite a bit, and turned into a show. If you haven't already, go listen to this interview. The original plan for Beattie's trilogy is absolutely AMAZING and it's a shame we never got it; only elements of it in the #Kenobi show.
They then go into discussing some defining actors that just perfectly fit their character, inside and outside of Star Wars. From Heath Ledger as the Joker, William Shatner as Captain Kirk, Hayden Christianson as Anakin Skywalker / Darth Vader, or Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll, some actors just perfectly hit their mark. Unfortunately, for some of them, we lose them as soon as they bring those characters to life.
Finally, the Crew close with talking about Bogie's initial dive into the animated show #CloneWars. We are super excited to follow along with him as he lives through this for the first time. He's going to LOVE it!

First of all, the DetBlock team would like to introduce it's newest prisoner, Prisoner 005: Ben Ken-Bogie! The DetBlock Crew want to take the time to highlight a YouTuber they recently found who brings great satire to not only Star Wars projects, but many other major movie franchise projects. For today's episode, they watch Pitch Meeting's piece on Star Wars: The Acolyte. Mike has seen this before but this is Dustin's first time watching. Both were laughing hysterically throughout the video. Mike's face might still be red. Make sure to go give Pitch Meeting a sub!
Following that, they spend a little more time on talking about the Acolyte, but then shift over to talking about the newly released game, Star Wars: Outlaws. Is it true that Kathleen Kennedy is looking for a "win" before she retires from LucasFilm? Whether that is true or not, Mike and Dustin explore that aspect and talk about what that all means. Is she really looking to retire? Does she feel like none of the projects under her have been considered big wins? Does her upcoming expiring contract play into this at all? What an accomplishment for the Crew! They have officially hit 100 episodes for their podcast / YouTube channel. They were so excited for bringing today's content that they even forgot to call that out. That's what happens when you get a new trailer release!

All three of them held out on watching the trailer until they were able to record and are excited to finally dive into this new show set back into the end of the High Republic era. Mike and Dustin return for the start of season 4 of Detention Block AA-23: A Star Wars #podcast to break into 2024 For this week's episode, the two look to discuss the recent announcement and confirmation of the new Filoni and Favreau #movie that will be released within the #Mando universe of #StarWars. The film will be call The #Mandalorian and #Grogu, which production for the #film will begin this year [2024].
On top of that, there has been a lot of heated attention towards words spoken by the director of the upcoming #Rey film, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. With today's episode, the DetBlock Crew look to talk about the recent big news about #DaveFiloni being named the Chief Creative Officer of #Lucasfilm for future #StarWars film, shows and other content. He will be working directly with Kathleen Kennedy to oversee the next generation of Star Wars. Fans have been calling for Dave to obtain more control for Star Wars stories and it looks like fans will be getting what they want! As far as DetBlock is concerned, this is fantastic news! At the same time, the crew look to discuss things like what this means for content going forward, how much control will Filoni actually have, how this could bring back confidence in Star Wars content and could this be more smoke and mirrors more than anything? A majority of us have full confidence in Filoni; but, does anyone actually have control when under the umbrella of something as big as #Disney? Come find out what we think!

To him, the character of Ahsoka is very important to him and he's really hoping that Dave Filoni, his team, Disney and Lucasfilm really knock this one out of the park. With the recent decline in ratings and viewership in not just Star Wars content, but Disney content in general, Mike is hoping the Ahsoka show will get Star Wars back on the map. Ahsoka, and the rest of the Rebels crew, deserve quality content. The good news is, with Dave Filoni at the helm, the Crew have faith that this show will bring that. Ahsoka... here we come!!

Come celebrate the 2nd Year Anniversary of Detention Block AA-23: A Star Wars Podcast 1st episode being launched! It's hard to believe that it has been 2 years since the DetBlock Crew set off on their podcasting journey and they have enjoyed every bit of it and look forward to what is to come in the future!
They follow speaking to that with talking about the upcoming Ahsoka show and what they are looking forward to the most about it. All signs, thus far, point to the show being great and they can't wait to see how the Rebels story continues through a new avenue of live action. All will start coming into fruition starting August 23rd, with the launching of the first 2 episodes of the show.
Next, the Mike and Dustin discuss some news around Disney's plans to increase the subscription cost for Disney+ starting in October. They will also be adding an ad free function to the service for an additional cost. Also, not mentioned within the episode, Disney plans to cut down on household sharing of the service following the success of Netflix taking the same route and earning a great deal of additional subscribers, even though its sort of in a forceful way. Will the same happen for Disney? We'll just have to wait and see.

The DetBlock Crew apologizes for the late launch of their most recent episode, recorded back at the end of June. The crew's episode editor [Mike] recently had a newborn son and time has been at a premium. With Mike and Greg both having newborn sons and Dustin expecting a child in October, they are doing the best they can to bring you new content.
For their most recent episode, Dustin and Mike dive into some interesting conversations coming out of Lucasfilm and its creators as they look to the future. There are a lot of rumors going around based on these conversations, so its hard to decipher fact from fiction. However, Dustin and Mike give you their perspective on these topics; specifically on, is Lucasfilm moving away from George Lucas' vision of Star Wars...? Maybe so.
Furthermore, on a more positive note, it has been more or less confirmed that the new Ahsoka show will be a continuation of the Rebels animated show. As some members of the production company and cast have put it, Rebels season 5. Mike and Dustin bring you their thoughts on that.
The new Ahsoka show is just around the corner. Even though it is kind of a slow time in Star Wars, there is so much to look forward to that is just around the corner. The lull in content comes at a good time as the crew transitions during a busy time. Bear with us, we will be back in full force soon. In the meantime, Detention Block content will be a little hit and miss in terms of week to week content. They can't wait to get back to the routine of weekly new episodes though!

Disney is clearly in some strategy reconfiguration mode when it comes to movies.
The Crew then dive into the new Star Wars: #Outlaws #videogame trailer that released. Congratulations to the DetBlock Crew as they have now published their 75th #episode! Quite the milestone for them as they are merely months away from their 2nd anniversary of releasing their 1st episode! They are also only a few downloads away from reaching another big milestone!
To start the episode off, the Crew catch up and talk through the upcoming life changing events they have coming. Greg and his wife are expecting child number 2 on May 31st and Mike and his wife are expecting child number 1 on June 13th. Dustin and his wife are also expecting child number 2, but still have a little more time. Due to all of the future little padawans being born, the Crew might be hit or miss on releasing episodes the upcoming weeks/months. However, they will do what they can to keep bringing you all content! Jump to about the 11:00 minute mark if you want to get right to the Star Wars content.
Getting back on topic of Star Wars, the Crew then dive into some tragic news in Star Wars. The first being the news of the passing of Ray Stevenson, the voice actor for Gar Saxon in Rebels and the actor who portrays Baylan Skoll in the upcoming Ahsoka show. He is also know for many, many amazing roles, including in Marvel's Thor movies, King Arthur, The Punisher, RRR, Rome, Vikings, Dexter, the Divergent series, and more. He will be greatly missed and our hearts and prayers go out to him, his family and friends.
Following that, the next tragic news is the announcement of the closing of Star Wars immersive hotel experience, the Galactic Cruiser. With being not even 2 years old, the announcement comes as a way for Disney to cut costs. To be honest, this news isn't exactly surprising, especially due to the cost to go for 2 people or a family of 4; however, it is still sad to hear to say the least. Mike, Dustin and Greg dive in to details behind this.
With Dustin having to jump off, Mike and Greg may or may not go on some major tangents that dive into history events and/or astronomy. Things like Medieval Times, history of the universe, parallel universes, other intelligent life out there and string theory... things like that. However, they then go a bit into the upcoming Star Wars films that are said to be still in the works along with getting Greg's opinions of the first episode of Visions volume 2.

Star Wars Day was approaching, some cool new seasons for shows were about to release; but, the one item that Star Wars fans were most anticipating for was the upcoming video game: Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. The game had recently released and one of the DetBlock Crew members had already started dipping his toes into it. Thus, Dustin's initial thoughts on the game was definitely a topic of discussion.
However, before getting to that, Mike had just finished reading the book that takes place before that game and after the first game [Jedi: Fallen Order], and that book was Star Wars Jedi: Battle Scars. Both Mike and Dustin eagerly wanted to bring their reviews of the book to you fans. We'd already gotten some insight from Dustin, since he read the book some time ago. However, they both had similar opinions about the book and wanted to open up to all of you about it.
The Crew also cover some news topics, like updates on the Filoni/Favreau film and the Taika Waititi potential [?] film. Other than that, it's mostly Star Wars Jedi games and book talk. Hope you're ready for how they feel about the book!

With The Mandalorian season 3 now being over, the DetBlock crew look to discuss some of the recent news in the Star Wars universe. To start, the next biggest release is about to hit store on Friday, April 28th. You guessed it, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. Greg and Mike take a little time to get excited about the upcoming game that can be played on Playstation, Xbox and PC.
Following that, a little shout out goes out to one of everyone's favorite Star Wars actresses and characters as she will be honored with her name on a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame... FINALLY! Very well deserved.
Next, the Crew bring you the latest updates as it pertains to the upcoming season 2 of the Andor show, looking to be released late 2024. As part of that news, it has all but been confirmed that a certain beloved character from that show might be making a return... someone might have survived... there's only ONE WAY OUT of this one!
Moving on, Greg and Mike look to bring you a trailer that was released back during Celebration 2023 that they never got around to viewing until now. Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventurers, a show oriented towards young kids, will be hitting the Disney+ platform on May 4th and the two of them look to bring you their trailer reaction. Whether it will be for us or not, it will be fun to watch either way!

The DetBlock Crew bring you all of their insight and opinions about the most recent episode [Chapter 20], titled "The Foundling" from The Mandalorian Disney+ show. Prior to jumping into The Mandalorian episode, they first take some time to talk about the recent book released from the Star Wars Jedi series, titled "Battle Scars". Dustin recently finished the book and gives his opinions about it. From there the Crew start talking about some of the other books they've been reading, including the recent Thrawn trilogy and the Thrawn Ascendancy trilogy, all written by Timothy Zahn. How does they feel about the newer books compared to some of the "older" stuff? You'll have to listen and find out!
The Crew also spend a little time talking about some more news updates revolving around some of the planned Star Wars movies; however, it just seems to be more of the same news we are becoming all too familiar with when it comes to the movies.
They then round out the episode with the results of the most recent matchups [Star Wars: The Old Republic vs Star Wars: Lethal Alliance + Star Wars: Rogue Squadron Series vs Star Wars: Obi-Wan] for their current Bracket Challenge, which is in search of the Best Star Wars Video Game of All Time. The much anticipated start of Season 3 for the Mandalorian is now here and we are here to discuss Chapter 17: The Apostate! Not only that, but we also get a new episode of Bad Batch as well! What a great time to be a Star Wars fan! However, before they get to those, the DetBlock crew talk some Star Wars Jedi video game series updates coming straight from the director of the games himself. Sig Asmussen brings us some potentially great news in an interview with IGN Unfiltered.
After that, the crew catch up on some much needed Bad Batch Season 2 talk. They are a little behind on bringing you their episode reviews on these, so Mike and Greg talk through episodes 7 through 10. They talk a little on episode 11; but, Greg hasn't seen it yet so spoilers were avoided. However, there are SPOILERS for all of the other episodes called out. With this week's Episode, Dustin & Mike start out with talking about Dustin's recent trip to Disney Springs in Florida. He may or may not have brought back some pretty cool souvenirs back for Mike. On the topic of Disney, they then jump into talking about a little tension the company might be feeling as it comes to financials. There have been some interviews and discussions with Bob Iger and team that seem to give off the vibe that Disney might be doing too much, especially with highly expensive content for Marvel and Star Wars. Sometimes, less is more. All that being said, Disney is at no risk.
Following that, the DetBlock Crew look to discuss and review the most recent High Republic "adult novel", Star Wars High Republic: Convergence. They'll dive into some of the major points and conflicts of the story and they'll also give their rating on the book as they feel fit. There will be spoilers for the book in this episode.
After Convergence, and a quick plug for the new audio book release, "Star Wars High Republic: Battle of Jedha, Mike reveals the results from the first 4 matchups for the play-in games for their newest Bracket Challenge: Best Star Wars Video Game. The next 4 matchups are then revealed after.

Even though two new episodes of Bad Batch have released, the DetBlock Crew figured it would be better to wait one more week until they'd bring you their reviews. Plus, with only one of them being caught up with watching them, they didn't want to spoil anything for the Crew.
With that, Greg and Mike look to bring some awesome stuff revolving around a new show that will premiere on Disney+ on May 4th. Not season 2 of Visions... A new show targeted towards Preschoolers called Star Wars; Young Jedi Academy. On top of that, the two of them dive into some JUICY news... scratch that... JUICY RUMORS about some of the high-ups within Lucasfilm. It should be noted, this information is pure RUMOR. However, it was an interesting topic to talk about and, as the expression goes, "where there is smoke, there is fire."
Finally, before going off tangent to talk a little Super Bowl and football, the DetBlock Crew introduce the next bracket challenge they look to bring to their listeners. This challenge revolves around Star Wars video games and looks to find what their fans consider the best Star Wars video game of all time!

For this week's episode, Zach and Mike look to dive into the previously aired episodes of Bad Batch season 2: Episode 5 "Death Tomb" and Episode 6 "Tribe". As a warning, there are Bad Batch season 2 SPOILERS! You've been warned. There have definitely been mixed reviews with how this season has started; but, could the middle of this season be bringing it all back together? Maybe not with episode 5... but... episode 6... two words... #WOOKIE #JEDI! Not to give too much away; but, what's not to love about one of our favorite Clone Wars Jedi younglings?? GUNGI BABY! Come join them on their thoughts and opinions about the episodes and let them know your opinions as well!
Before they dive into #BadBatch, the Crew do spend a little time on some #StarWars news bits revolving around an update on the upcoming #JediSurvivor game, announcements for the upcoming #StarWarsCelebration 2023 in London, and the upcoming second season of @StarWars #Visions.
To round everything out, we may or may not have discussed a little #LastOfUs... Or, at least, we tried to through combating the internet connection issues we were experiencing.
Due to some technical difficulties, internet connection issues with Mike more specifically, the episode did need to be broken up into 2 parts. Almost an hour into the broadcast, internet connection was lost and a new broadcast had to be initiated. Part 2 also got pretty choppy; so, we apologize for the connection issues.

After about 10 minutes of catching up [fast forward a bit if you want to get to the Star Wars stuff], The DetBlock Crew get into some cool updates revolving around Star Wars Celebration 2023 and some interviews from some Star Wars actors. Then, Mike and Dustin look to dive into the Phase 1 adult novels from the High Republic. Focusing on the books Light of the Jedi by Charles Soule, The Rising Storm by Cavan Scott, and The Fallen Star by Claudia Gray, come hear what they have to say about a time period in Star Wars not yet brought to the big or silver screen.

The gang is all here! The full DetBlock Crew get together one more time before Christmas arrives to bring you some of the latest news and juicy rumors within the Star Wars world.
First of all, with Bob Iger back at heading Disney, a lot of rumors have been stirring revolving around Kathleen Kennedy and her time remaining as head of Lucasfilm. With some management moves already made and a potential severance package leak, could Kathleen be looking at retirement, being asked to step down, or do these rumors hold no weight?

Originally looking to reflect on a full year of podcasting, the DetBlock Crew had to quickly change plans due to one of the original Crew members, Greg, not being able to make it. Thus, the rest of the Crew go Rogue and look to discuss the news about Rogue One returning to IMAX theaters August 26th - 30th. Check your local IMAX theaters as it will only be released in select theaters.
On top of that, the Crew talk Obi-Wan Kenobi with Ewan McGregor's recent comments, talk about Kathleen Kennedy's "Yes-Woman" approach to new Star Wars material, and expand into other franchises, including Dune, Marvel Avengers and Predator with the launching of the new show Prey.

For this week's episode, the DetBlock crew takes on a different approach due to the topics discussed. The episode will be broken out in 2 parts - the first being primarily about Star Wars and a little LOTR. Since Dustin was itching to talk some MLB Trade Deadline stuff, we also dive into that topic, but will release that as a separate partial episode.
With PART 1, Dustin surprises us off the bat with taking the lead on the episode; Mike didn't even know it was coming! With just the two of them this episode, they first look to talk about some Andor updates dealing with the premiere date of the show being pushed back; however, fans getting 3 episodes to start. On top of that, they review the newest Andor trailer that has released.
Following that, they dive more into a topic they love to cover - toxicity within the Star Wars fan base. This all stems from comments Simon Pegg made, stating that Star Wars can be one of the most toxic fan bases. They crew look to dive deeper into those comments and provide their opinions. On top of that, they find it a good time to continue to promote the awesome Star Wars Facebook group named The Non-Toxic Star Wars Fanbase. Make sure to check them out, along with other fantastic groups that take on similar approaches, like My Star Wars Life and The Star Wars Fan Base.
Finally, with Dustin more-or-less taking the reigns, he wanted to dive into some Silmarillion discussions as he recently finished the audio book. If you're a fan of Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, and any Tolkien product, make sure to stay on and listen to what we have to say. There is so much great Tolkien product out there that goes beyond what has been released on the big screen!

Dustin and Mike take the show today as Greg is in the middle of some travels and Zach is recovering from Covid. After starting off with some discussion about the newly released Marvel movie, Thor: Love and Thunder [SPOILER WARNING], they discuss some recent Star Wars updates including news on the KOTOR video game remake and some trademark titles that Lucasfilm has purchased for future projects. They then get into a discussion about the potential for Star Wars to seek some darker material/product for future works. The likely-hood of Disney going darker might be slim; however, how well could it be received by fans?
Later in the show, they do some trailer viewings. The first is of the new documentary that has had its 1st episode released, called Light & Magic. This documentary focuses on the visual effects company, ILM, that George Lucas created to use for Star Wars and will contain 6 episodes. Then, Mike has 2 other trailers to show as a treat for Dustin, along with the listeners/viewers as well (of course).

After Covid kept some of the Crew down for a bit, DetBlock is back to bring some updates revolving around the Andor Series, Book of Boba Fett Season 2 (Potentially), along with a potential scene of Luke and Ahsoka's first encounter - from the words of Dave Filoni. We are getting closer and closer to these shows and are loving every bit of the news coming out.
Dustin, Greg and Mike then dive into some leaked trailers that were released by some fans at Star Wars Celebration 2022. To avoid the power of the Mouse blocking what the Crew is releasing, they avoid showing the trailers. However, they do take the time to watch the trailers together and then discuss afterwards. All 3 of them are only more excited for those shows as well.
The DetBlock team then takes a little bit of a tangent to discuss a different show, separate from the Star Wars franchise, as a special segment. Here, they talk about the trailer released on Prime Day for Amazon's upcoming Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power show that will release in December. Mike and Dustin are also big fans of the LOTR franchise, so they find it a good time to talk a little about their interest in the upcoming show.
Finally, the Crew wraps up to discuss, with all of the Star Wars material now available - referring to movies and shows - what is the best order to binge/marathon everything? This topic stemmed from Mike being notified that our little friend Theo will be watching the movies for the first time and his dad was asking what order is recommended. In last week's episode, with just Greg and Mike, the two of them discussed parts 1-5 of the Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ series. After a few weeks of being MIA, partially due to attending Star Wars Celebration 2022 Anaheim, the DetBlock Crew are finally back to talking Star Wars. Granted, only Greg and Mike were available this week. However, the two of them are back to cover so many different topics after being out so long. With Mike attending Star Wars Celebration, he brings up many of the reveals that Celebration had for Star Wars fans. Whether its new shows being announced, updates on previously announced shows and games, or even trailers that were provided to the public or exclusive to those attending Celebration, Mike and Greg look to bring you to those.
After the first half of the episode covers those reveals coming from Celebration, Greg and Mike look to spend the rest of the time talking about the highly anticipated Star Wars show, Obi-Wan Kenobi. Has it met expectations? Surpassed or fallen short of? The two of them look to discuss parts 1 thru 5 of the show. They try not to dive too deep into the episodes, since they know both Dustin and Zach will want to discuss them when they return, but they look to ride the wave that Part 5 gave them, so they focus more on that most recent episode. For this week's episode, Dustin, Greg and Mike look to dive in a lot of talk that is circulating for the different Star Wars Disney+ shows coming up. With the Kenobi series about a week away, the news is buzzing around the show along with Disney+'s Ahsoka and Andor series. On top of that, they dive into some comments made from some of the higher ups, creators and actors.
From there, the DetBlock crew move onto discussions around the upcoming film projects. It has now been a few years since the last Star Wars movie hit the big screen and, with the back and forth updates on some of the film projects, when will we actually see a story from a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away in theaters? On top of that, which film will it actually be? Rian Johnson's first film of his potential trilogy? Patty Jenkin's Rogue Squadron? Or will it be Taika Waititi unannounced film project? Come listen to our thoughts; but, we'll just have to wait and see for what actually happens.
Dustin also goes into further updates about his Star Wars: The Old Republic (SWTOR) PC game experience and fills us in where he is at within the game story. Has the game been meeting his approval? Is he enjoying the story he's getting out of it?
Finally, the crew end with their final matchup in the Star Wars Most Influential Movie bracket challenge where the bronze medal matchup takes the final stage. With the #4 seed Return of the Jedi facing off with the #6 seed Revenge of the Sith, which 3rd trilogy film knocks off the other to become 3rd place? Will the original trilogy make a clean sweep of 1st through 3rd or will a prequel trilogy put an end to that? A podium spot is for the taking!

Happy Star Wars Day! What a way for the DetBlock team to celebrate May the 4th with the opportunity to have a Star Wars podcast episode recording! Not to mention, with the release of the official trailer for the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, the team get to do their next trailer reaction video! Thus, they dive right into that.
After watching and discussing the trailer, the Crew then talk through some more Star Wars Celebration updates. All thanks to Zach, Mike announces that him and his wife actually get to attend Star Wars Celebration 2022 in Anaheim at the end of the month! Zach provides some more insights and recommendations for those who are attending.
They then go into an interesting discussion that revolves around the prequel trilogy that came to through a meme that Greg had previously sent over to the team. This meme points out that, in Attack of the Clones, the republic attacks from screen right to left. In most movies, the good guys attack from screen left to right. Does this have some hidden meaning into who the good guys are and/or foreshadowing events to come?
Finally, the team wrap-up with a special guest they invite on. For the first time, the DetBlock team bring on a guest within the middle of the episode for a call-in. Prisoner 005 joins in on the conversation as they reveal which Star Wars movie gets dubbed the CHAMPION for Most Influential Star Wars Movie. The DetBlock Crew start out with a little bit of an accidental news release within the panel scheduling of Star Wars Celebration. It was unintentionally revealed that there is a new animated project being worked on for Star Wars, people are speculating by Filoni, that will be a series of anthology shorts centered around the Jedi and called "Tales of the Jedi". This sparks some discussion with the guys. On top of that, the crew discuss some Obi-Wan Kenobi series news through interviews from Deborah Chow, some Jedi: Fallen Order updates in terms of console releases, and more.
Being that May 4th is only around the corner, the DetBlock crew also found it important to take some time to talk through the Star Wars Holiday (May The 4th Be With You), what it means to them, what it means to the fanbase, and some of their fondest Star Wars Day memories. What does this holiday within the Star Wars fanbase mean to you?
The team then close out with their bracket challenge segment, where the movies #2 A New Hope and #6 Revenge of the Sith go up against each other in our second matchup within the Yavin 4 finals. The winner will go on to face #1 Empire Strikes Back in the championship and the loser will go onto the Bronze Medal round to face #3 Return of the Jedi. Of course, our DetBlock Crew dives into what these announcements could potentially mean. On top of that, they crew talk some more Star Wars Celebration 2022 as more reveals have been made for who might be coming and what is going on.
Afterwards, the guys talk a bit more about two Star Wars video games: Star Wars; The Old Republic and Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. Now that Dustin and Mike, respectively, have been able to play the games a bit more, the two of them provide some further insight about their experience and how their feeling about the games.
The conversation then turns back to Zach's sequel trilogy movie changes. If you recall, Zach has previously provided us certain changes he would have made to both The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi movies. In this episode, he wraps up his Last Jedi bullets and goes through all of his material for The Rise of Skywalker. All interesting points which bring up some interesting conversations.

For this week's episode, the DetBlock Crew quickly discuss some updates announced for the release date of the upcoming Kenobi series on Disney+. The series might be delayed a bit, but what fans are getting in return make it worth it!
The guys then look to talk more about Star Wars in video games, including Dustin's recent dive into the mmo-rpg Star Wars: The Old Republic (SWTOR) along with more on LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. For most of the episode, the Crew dive into the impact social media has had on toxic conversations that take place within the Star Wars fandom along with society in general. With Daisy Ridley's announcement, or Instagram post, of coming back to the world of social media after taking years off to step away from the negativity/abuse wrongfully sent her way, Mike, Dustin, and Greg wanted to take the time to continue their push against toxicity within Star Wars conversations and interaction. If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all! Social media is indeed a tool, but should not be used for harm.
The episode then ends with the final Elite 8 most influential SW movie bracket challenge, giving birth to the complete Yavin 4 movies that remain! Getting closer to dubbing a CHAMPION!

A lot of news circling around Disney+ Star Wars shows has the DetBlock crew talking things like the potential Lando series, when future SW shows will be launching, some awesome casting calls, and more!
Being that Oscars recently took place, and yes the Crew couldn't not bring up the incident heard around the world, Mike, Greg and Dustin also talk Star Wars in the Oscars and how successful the franchise has or has not been within these prestigious awards. Shout out to John Williams for being one of the largest contributors here! Though Star Wars brings in some of the most success at the box office with its movies, do the films live up to the expectations of the academy and/or are Sci-Fi movies destined to struggle?

After Mike and Dustin tried their hand at a Star Wars trivia night at 9milebrewing in Bloomington, Minnesota, the DetBlock crew look to talk about it. How did they matchup against a packed brewery of die hard Star Wars fans? Come find out.

With the long awaited release of the Kenobi series trailer, the DetBlock Crew dive right into getting their trailer reaction. Three of the 4 guys had already seen it, but Mudge wanted to wait for this weeks episode recording to watch it for the first time. After watching it through completely, they go back and break down the episode a bit, ask questions, and ponder theories.
Following the trailer, they dive into most of Zach's changes to The Last Jedi. Last time he was on, they walked through some ideas for The Force Awakens. This time he comes back for his bullets on the 2nd installment of the sequel trilogy. Even though they speak to some things Zach seeks to change, they make sure to maintain most of the major plot points from the story.
To wrap-up the episode, Greg brings in the final region [Coruscant Region] of the Star Wars Most Influential Movie Bracket Challenge. The Crew starts the episode a little off topic as they talk a bit about current events with the MLB holdout and the War on Ukraine [jump to about the 6.5 minute mark if you want to get to the Star Wars stuff]. They then dive into some Star Wars news and rumors dealing with the Bad Batch Season 2, Qui Gon Jinn, Disney+ series rankings, and more information about the Galactic Starcruiser (including reviews).
They then go into a deeper discussions around all of the TV series and how they feel the rankings truly represent the Star Wars shows. Greg provides some interesting content from a YouTuber who rearranges the titles of the Skywalker Saga 9 films in a way that still fits each movie.
The crew then ends their episode by providing the results of the most recent Star Wars Film Bracket Challenge where #2 A New Hope faces #15 Ewok Adventures: Caravan of Courage and #7 Rise of Skywalker faces #10 LEGO Holiday Special. After the DetBlock crew watched Chapter 6 of the Book of Boba Fett, they sat down to discuss their thoughts on what they just got to witness. Unfortunately, Dustin experienced some technical issues with his internet; thus, Greg and Mike looked to review the episode.

To continue the trend of bringing back prisoners, the DetBlock crew decided to bring back Prisoner 003: Zach to discuss some more Star Wars and Book of Boba Fett stuff! It was great catching back up with him and exploring more over-arching theories and ideas he has about Star Wars. Not to mention, we HAD to learn about this so called "drinking game" he has for the Attack of the Clones movie.
After we discuss some recent Star Wars news/announcements, we continue on with the trend of discussing our thoughts of the most recent Book of Boba Fett episode. Needless to say, we are all on Cloud 9 after viewing it together. Why? Well, you're just going to have to listen for that information.
After discussing the episode and Zach's overall opinions on the show, we then dive into his theory about how an aspect of the show Star Wars: Rebels could be use to "undo" the sequel trilogy. Not that it should be looked at as an attack on those 3 movies; but, is Disney's outlook on the reception of those movies potentially dictating what is to come in terms of undoing certain elements? Prisoner 001 (Jordan) comes out of detainment to join Michael and Dustin to discuss the most recent chapter of Book of Boba Fett [Chapter 4: The Gathering Storm]. The 3 of them reconnect and catch up with what has passed since their first discussion together back in August. Awesome and wonderful news coming from Jordan's side [CONGRATS!] and he reveals some pretty amazing Star Wars ideas.

The New Year has arrived and the DetBlock crew looks to start the new year with the start of their 2nd Season of podcasting. With their 1st episode of 2022, Mike, Greg & Dustin first discuss some news and rumors that have circled around, ever since their previous recording. However, the biggest thing and, in their opinion, the most important thing to discuss, the release of the newest Star Wars Disney+ Series: The Book of Boba Fett!

For Chapter 1, the crew was digging the show from the get-go. Between the simplistic and "realistic" escape from the sarlacc pit, the further exploration of Tatooine and Jabba's Palace, and all of the connecting elements to other Star Wars content, this show has already started gifting viewers with what people were looking forward to. Then, when you throw in Chapter 2... viewers only get blown away even more. Such aspects include a deep dive into Tusken Raider culture and society, character development for Boba Fett that reiterates how great of a character he is, an episode that is truly a romantic western set in a space fantasy (even with a train heist!), and introducing new (or not so new) characters that fit the story and pay homage to a universe so vast! I mean, who would have thought that viewers would be gifted actual screen time with Camie and Fixer...!? Two characters, and close friends of Luke Skywalker, only found within the deleted scenes of A New Hope. Absolutely amazing. Product like this truly show fans that Filoni and Favreau know what they are doing and, more importantly, understand Star Wars.
However, what does this all mean? Join the crew as they discuss the things that stood out to them within both the first two chapters and how they feel it impacts not only the story of Boba, but also how it fits within the entire universe of Star Wars!

As the holidays approach, Dustin, Mike and Greg find it appropriate to take this episode to talk about everyone's favorite, the Star Wars Holiday Special!
Before they dive into the holiday special, the first jump into some news revolving around the trailer release for the upcoming game Star Wars: Eclipse, the induction of the film Return of the Jedi into National Film Registry, new merch (including Bo-Katan's Black Series helmet), and the rumor that Harrison Ford could be reprising his role as Han Solo in an upcoming work.
Moving onto the Holiday Special, as difficult as it can be, the crew look to take some positives out of it and talk about some elements that can, and have been, taken from it. Cough Cough Boba Fett Cough. On top of that, explore the things they liked about the show on top of many things they thought were less desirable. Either way, it's more Star Wars content!
They round out the episode with their weekly Sith Battle and discuss the winner between Sidious and Asajj. They then introduce the next matchup, which will initiate the Final 4 when the New Year comes.
With the holidays here, the Det Block team will take a couple of weeks as a break and will record their next episode starting the first week of January. Look for it to release shortly after.

Birthday shout out to Dustin as he turned 34 on 11/30!
With this week's episode, Dustin, Greg and Mike make up on some lost time as the crew went on a 3 week hiatus with all the crazy things going on in their lives. We turn the tables on Zach Alt after he interviewed us for an article and ask him the hard hitting questions. He tells us abut his autograph collection and which ones he loves the most. Zach has been to several Star Wars Celebrations, so he explains how he ended up going and what his experiences have been. Needless to say, there goes our vacation budgets. Greg, Mike, and Dustin are joined by lightsaber duelist Kevin, who participates in the local saber legion of the Twin Cities. He talked about his experience with the group, and how they got together. Keven describes how the combat unfolds and what events people can expect if they join the league. He shows off his own sabers and explains the armor that people might wear to a battle. We reminisce on our favorite light saber duels in the movies and tv shows and tell the listeners which our favorites are. It is determined that everyone in the group needs to get 500 light sabers from their favorite site!

**Greg returns by joining Mike & Dustin after attending to his sick child last week. They look to discuss the first live action, stand alone, anthology film released by Lucasfilm and Disney, the beloved Rogue One. Was the film created as a sort of test into uncharted territory? A way to tie up loose ends from other films? Or was it made for the same reason most any Star Wars material is created: “cold-hearted cash”?
Tapping into this new style of film, the three of us discuss our favorite moments, talked about the success it brought, and how we felt this lead the direction of the franchise for future works. Would you classify it successful?
Furthermore, we touch on the announcement of a different Jedi was used in the original script for Mandalorian Chapter 16, the lengths Lucasfilm/Disney goes to in an effort to prevent spoilers and leaks, and how important that is to the franchise.
