Athens was the crossroads of the earth and Corinth was along one of its main trade routes. Preaching in a way that would reach all sorts of people was (and is) important.

More beautiful scenery is on tap for us today as we consider what Paul's disastrous trip to Rome through these waters might have looked like as they were tossed about for 14 days before finally being shipwrecked on Malta. We also get to spend an afternoon on the beautiful island of Santorini.

Today we hear about John's and Paul's ministry in Ephesus and see where this ministry took place, especially in the theater where there was almost a riot based upon opposition to the church there in Ephesus.

In today's episode we hear Paul's letter to Philemon, asking him to be reconciled with his former slave for the ministry of the Gospel.

In addition to some sights around Thessaloniki, we travel to Philippi today, where Lydia was the first European to be baptized and Paul's jailer and his family were converted to the faith. Acts 16:11-40 covers the details and Paul wrote one of his shorter epistles to the Philippians. Try to read both passages if you have a change before our travels on Day three.

Having only preached on three Sabbaths in a row before getting kicked out of Thessalonica, Paul doesn't give up on the fledgling church and writes two epistles to encourage them in keeping their faith in the midst of challenges and obstacles placed in their way.
