The Authentic and Brave Podcast is a workshop style, educational, vulnerability-pushing podcast packed with creative ideas and suggestions that are helping others tune into what they want most and courageously going after it. Together we will talk about our mental health, self-care, creativity, and learn how to connect to true authentic selves.
Are you a high achiever who has done everything you are “supposed” to do and still feel disconnected from yourself? Do you know you are called to do something different but are afraid of taking the next step? What would you do if you weren’t afraid? How can you tap into your true, authentic self to bravely create a life you love while being exactly who you were meant to be?
Sometimes, the bravest thing we can do is ask for help or admit we want something different. Whether you are a newbie or life-long self-development seeker, or are simply tired of ignoring who you are, this show is for you.
Are you ready to step out of your comfort zone? How can you tell it is even time to do this? It is possible to do this while being brave among change, and with an internal knowing that it is time to grow in authenticity, and that’s why I’m so excited to be joined today by my amazing guest, Robbin Kent.
Robin is a Brand Strategist and “Techie Girl”, and says that supporting women who believe they are made for more is absolutely magical to her. She’s a wife of 26 years to her college sweetheart and mom to two amazing kids, and Robin has always known that supporting others was a gift and love of hers. This is why she pursued her college degrees with a B.S in Psychology, along with a M.A School Counseling & a M.A in Industrial Organizational Psychology. The love of learning runs constantly through her veins.
In this episode, Robbin shares her expertise on how you can move into a new chapter of life, while leaning into the different strengths you possess. She reveals how to tell it is time to make that big change, and the actions steps to take once you have made the decision to move forward.
If something we talk about today resonates with you, we want to know! You can connect with Robbin and I on Instagram, @robbinkent and @authenticandbrave, and until next time, keep on practicing and keep on being authentic and brave!

Have you ever felt stuck? Like there’s no options, no choice, and you have no ability to change directions? In this episode, I share my experiences in feeling this way, and what I do when I recognize it.
When we feel stuck, it can feel like a weight of bricks holding us down or that we’re stuck spinning our wheels unsure how to get out of the rut. There are so many reasons we feel stuck, but I think the most helpful place to start is recognizing that we have choices. We may not like the options, but we do have them, and that is the key to getting unstuck and truly living an authentic and brave life!

In last week’s episode, I revealed what anger is, how we experience and feel it, and of course, how we express it. Today, I welcome back my husband John to the podcast to help us go deeper into this topic of anger, and specifically, how anger impacts a relationship.
You’ll hear a bit about how we both experienced anger while growing up, and how it has come up at different times as adults in our marriage. I invite you to look at the ways you feel and express anger in your own relationship, and remember, you can be angry at someone and continue to love them at the same time!

While I often like to discuss how fear can hold us back, today I talk about another emotion that we often experience but aren’t sure how to accept, and that is anger.
In this episode, I want to demystify anger a bit, to normalize it, and to change how we see it. As you’ll hear, in the past few months I have been challenged to feel and express my own anger in a few different situations. It hasn’t been easy. I don’t like being angry, but the more I work at allowing anger not to be negative and shame myself for feeling it, the more I don’t shy away from expressing it.
I want this episode to help shed some light for you on what anger is, and isn’t, and to give you the tools to recognize, understand and label it. Once this happens, you will then be able to express and regulate it.
Please let me know if you found this information and how you use the strategies I present today in your own life, and as mentioned, I’d love to have you as part of Authentic and Brave: A Women's Connection Group on Facebook to continue the discussion!

Today is a very special episode, as I am talking with my own 15-year-old daughter, Lili, about her journey in being authentic and brave. In this episode, Lili reveals how she was able to understand her true self and to help others, including us as her family, understand as well.
I’m so proud of Lili for coming on the podcast to share her very personal story, and for being so open and vulnerable in doing it. We hope what you hear today will be of value to you as well, whether you are a parent or a teenager who is on your own path to understand what it means to live an authentic and brave life.

Many women I talk with discuss how certain colors make them feel, and I want to explore this topic today. Specifically, what does picking out a nail color have to do with living an authentic and brave life?
In this episode, I look at the messaging I was raised with about spending money on having my nails done, having the right color picked out, and how others may see me. That’s a lot of pressure for picking out a color to put on my nails for a few weeks. So why then does it cause so much anxiety for me?
Sometimes we have to do some things that make us uncomfortable, because of our silly internal rules that we don't even realize we have. We have to challenge them, we have to move past our comfort zone. Sometimes, we just have to let ourselves be who we are, and for me, today, that’s wearing orange nails.
I hope this episode and its message helps you on your way to living authentically, and aids you in feeling good while manifesting all that it is you desire!

If you’ve ever been to therapy, you’ve probably been asked the question, “how does that make you feel?” In fact, it’s often joked about that in the therapy world, that’s all you get asked! While therapy is more than just how you feel, being able to identify at any moment how you feel is an important part of life. In today’s episode, we are going to focus on emotions, a bit on feelings, emotional intelligence, and my favorite tool for helping you identify what is going on inside to be able to bravely express yourself and live more authentically: RULER.

This episode is for all you superwomen. You know who I am talking to. All women. That’s right, it’s for every woman out there who is busy caretaking, working, and making this world a better place.
In this episode, I want to talk about a topic that has a lot of traction lately and is a common social media buzzword, and this self-care. I discussed self-care in Episode 6 of this podcast from the perspective of being gentle with yourself. Now, I want to dive a bit deeper into what self-care truly is and isn’t, and how to carve out some time and give yourself permission to take care of yourself.
As you’ll hear, real self-care involves consistent practices and habits that support our overall health and happiness. We absolutely need to recognize the importance of self-care and understand that self-care is not selfish, it’s essential for your overall well-being.
Remember, real self-care is a continuous and ongoing process that requires self-awareness, self-compassion and the willingness to make choices that support your well-being.
I hope this episode sheds some light on what self-care really is all about, and gives you practical action steps, tips and reframes that you can begin using in your own life daily.

Are you wanting “more”, but you’re not quite sure what it is or if it is even possible for you? Or do you feel like the life you desire is within reach, but you’re just not sure what steps to even take first to go after it? I’m excited to welcome transformational coach Daisy Hillbrands to the podcast to help answer these important questions, and so much more.
Daisy’s practice helping individual clients is exclusively online, and she herself is a digital nomad and a part-time van traveller with a cat. Daisy is no stranger to changing directions in life to follow a more authentic and brave path, and as you’ll hear in this episode, she recognizes that sometimes even when you have checked all the boxes of a “good” life, it just might not be what makes you happy.
Daisy helps others clarify what they want and to show them that change is indeed possible, no matter what age you are, and I hope you are as inspired listening to Daisy as I was in having this conversation with her.

The last few episodes have featured wonderful, strong women coaches as guests, and each has had their own journey of being authentic and brave. Today’s episode is more about my journey…
This is going to be a bit of a personal one for me, and I want to say that there may be triggers in this show, and if it’s too much, please do take care of yourself first. You’ll hear how very recently my son Nolan got hit upside the head with a golf club by accident, and I reveal the extreme fear and trauma I experienced from this event, and the positive impact that asking for help ultimately had on me.
Remember, trauma can happen to any of us and it can take over our nervous system when we least expect it. It’s ok to stop and to take care of yourself, as I had to do over the past week.
If you or someone you love has experienced trauma, please make sure to reach out and get help. Healing is possible, and you don’t have to go through it alone.

Today’s episode is one of my favorites. Shelly Lattouf is an entrepreneur, business woman, international traveller, momma, and most important to me, my sister. I asked Shelly to come on the podcast to share her story and wisdom when we were both in Los Angeles, and I was thrilled that she agreed to join me to have a conversation.
Shelly owns Cali Findings, whose goal is to provide unique and quality jewelry findings to businesses, crafters and creators around the globe. She has a unique story and learned early in her life to listen to her authentic knowing, which took her on a journey halfway around the world to build a family with the man she loves, all while creating several businesses.
Shelly is one of the bravest people that I know, and I can’t wait for you to meet her and hear what she has to share today.

Getting clear on your values, knowing your true purpose and being in alignment can be difficult to do with so much noise in the world today. Today’s guest is Trang Cess Nguyen, and she knows all too well the importance of these things. In this episode, Trang shares her own personal journey to fulfilment, as well as how she now helps others do the same.
After almost a decade working as a registered Physiotherapist, running and strength coach, Trang went through a quarter-life 'awakening' in her mid-twenties that led to deep existential questioning about her life and its purpose. Through this challenging phase, Trang came to the perspective that the purpose of life was this: To live each day as her highest self in alignment with her heart's purpose and values. With that realisation, she made the decision to leave the health and sports industry to work with individuals at the deepest and most comprehensive level.
Through her coaching, Trang now guides individuals to fulfill their potential in the business or career that's aligned with their heart's purpose, so they can thrive at the highest level, be fulfilled till their last day, and create an impact on this world.
Trang does this because she believes that when enough individuals are thriving, then humanity will thrive, and when humanity thrives, the world can thrive for all forms of life, and future generations.
Trang loves to LIVE and strives to have the richest human experience possible. From scuba diving, motor-biking, skiing, hiking, camping, travelling, raving at music-festivals, hitting the dancefloor of clubs, watching Game of Thrones and cuddling with her two dogs (Obi the pug and Finn the cavoodle), she is certainly high on life!
We hope that Trang’s journey and the tools and resources she gives today on the podcast will help you gain clarity on your own purpose and values! If what she shares resonates with you in any way, we’d love to hear about it, so please send a DM, @authenticandbrave and @trangcessnguyen.

Recently, I received a note on Instagram from a listener who wrote to me about her recent loss of a job and how she wants to shift gears to start something new. Realizing she was struggling a bit, she asked me about therapy and if it really helps people, plus how she can find a good therapist.
In her words, I saw what so many people struggle with, so in addition to writing her back, I decided it would be a good topic for this week’s episode.
I hope that after you listen to this episode, you understand a little bit more about what therapy is, the different reasons to go and it gives you some tips for finding the right fit for you.
If you still have questions or want to share more about your experiences with therapy, please send me a DM on Instagram, @authenticandbrave or post in the Facebook Group, as I’d love to hear from you.
Remember, therapy can benefit anyone through learning about yourself and achieving new insights and goals. It can lead to better health, having more fulfilling relationships and therapy can help you create an overall better mental outlook!

As a follow-up to last week’s episode talking about love, today’s special guest (and the first that has joined me so far on the podcast!) is none other than my very own husband, John!
In this episode, we take a look back at how we met and the ways that our relationship has evolved through the years, including the struggles we’ve faced and how we’ve both learned to communicate and have our words heard by each other, and not the emotions.
Whatever point you and your partner are at in your own relationship journey, we hope what we share today about love and authentic communication helps you, and we would both be so happy to hear what part of this conversation resonated the most.

Today we’re going to talk about one of my favorite topics: love. Given that Valentine’s Day is coming, I thought spending some time on what it means to love, and to be loved, would be a great topic for us to chat about.
In this episode, I share what my own family, strangers, professional athletes, and even young children playing sports has taught me about love. I hope you enjoy this topic, and are left thinking about the power of love in your own life, because as the Beatles famously stated, “All You Need Is Love.”

Have you ever found yourself doing this, falling victim to imposter syndrome? We all have, myself included, which is why today I want to shed light on this topic. In this episode, I reveal why feeling like an imposter is so common, what research says about it and how you can move through it to get to the other side, where success lies!

What’s the first thing you think of when you hear the word “brave”? In this episode, I want to talk about brave acts and how each day we can choose to be brave. You will hear about my own experiences in making the changes I had been avoiding in order to bravely show up for myself, and I give a writing activity and actionable steps that you can do to determine how fear is impacting you, and as you begin bravely showing up for yourself.

It has been said that the creation of a thousand forests is in one acorn, and just one acorn can be the start of so much. Like the acorn, who you are is always inside of you and available to show the world, if you are brave enough to share who you truly are. In this very first episode of The Authentic & Brave Podcast, I reveal how I am incorporating this philosophy by creating this podcast and allowing myself to face what has held me back. I talk about l what authenticity really means, how you can begin taking the steps to discover the bravery to be yourself, and I share practical activities that you can do right now to start tapping into your authentic self.
I hope that you enjoy this episode and that you find a quick tip or suggestion that you can use in your week that helps you tune into who you are and what you want.
