Porsche has finally done it... they've electrified the iconic 911. The latest 992.2 Porsche 911 T-Hybrid, introduces the first hybridized 911 to the public.
Surely to ruffle more than a few feathers, this is a very big departure from the usual recipe of mid-cycle refreshes on the 911.
Along with Porsche making big announcements, Chevrolet teases the ZR1 further, Subaru continues to do everything BUT make a new STi, Toyota does a HUGE recall and Cybertruck owners are learning a lesson in size dimensions.
Rounding out this episode I spend some time having my thoughts on Jeep's latest EV.... a $72,000 luxury SUV. Yes, it starts at that price and I have some opinions.

Episode 55 of the carQuicks Podcast starts off with the recent news of the iconic Lamborghini V10... setting sail.
While it isn't all bad news, there will be some pushback with the direction the next Huracan-replacement engine takes. And Porsche announces the next 911, with a very big surprise.
Along with that news, Chevrolet hints at what the future of the Camaro name looks like, Ford teases the idea of a sedan Mustang, Bugatti drops new details on their next Hypercar and Honda returns with the previously discontinued model.

Ferrari announces their newest supercar, called the 12Cilindri, which has a new 12-cylinder engine. I know... the name is, well... interesting.
But, this is also the company that named their Hypercar Ferrari "The Ferrari" (LaFerrari), so we shouldn't get too caught up in the name. We should be caught up in the fact that we have a new naturally aspirated V12 engine powering this thing.
-
With that news, on Episode 54 I dive a bit into the shenanigans at Tesla and the recent layoffs. Fisker going from bad to worse, a revitalization of a classic Jaguar coupe, and the latest updates on the GR Corolla.-Sit back relax, and enjoy! This is the CarQuicks Podcast!

I've had this thought in my head for a while. As car enthusiasts and motorsport enthusiasts, we all have seen the constant news of racetracks closing all over the country. The comments on each new closure are flooded with, calls for developers to stop building communities on top of tracks, and then complaining. Telling cities that street takeovers or racing won't go down if they close the only legal outlet and how can it be stopped.I don't have all those answers, but I have some thoughts and opinions I want to get out.Episode 53 we dive into some recent news about track closures, what steps I think should be taken, and how it may help our future for motorsports and car enthusiasts.-Sit back, relax, and enjoy! Not that anyone has been begging me for anything. Lol.But I digress… this week’s episode of CarQuicks we take a brief moment to remember the glory days of Auto shows, where they used to be, and where they are now. Can’t they make a return to glory? Do we care, does the public care enough? With the auto shows currently in an interesting situation, most car reveals are happening in private events. The latest none from Subaru for the new 2024 WRX TR, was met with… silence, laughter, and slight disappointment. Tesla is still slicing the price of their cars and on the heels of those reductions is the government soon to allow buyers to take the tax incentives for EVs right off the price tag at purchase.Toyota releases their Ferrari…. After a bit of R&R in the clear waters of the Caribbean... I'm back to my usual shenanigans with the podcast.
And we got some exciting news...It is an EV, electric car-heavy episode, but one of the critical moments here is the death of an ICON to the hot hatches, the end of an era for us drivers, to those who row their own gears, this one hits home, as a previous GTi owner.
However, this news brings in the future and one that does not look as bad as we might have thought.
Alongside that news, Mercedes released a concept of the soon-to-be entry-level luxury EV.... and it looks... ok from the outside (to my eyes). Mini releases their new take on what an EV Mini should be. Nissan is changing to another iconic nameplate and the streets will never be the same. Ford clearly has been busy and somehow while creating the new Mustang, built what is arguably their GT3 Mustang racecar for the street. Aimed squarely at the Europenas supercars and Porsche GT3s. And what they served up is more than a viable opponent... this is not your neighbor's 5.0.
Alongside, the Mustang news we have exciting news out of Monterey Car Week, with hypercars dropping like new SUVs this week, each commanding millions of dollars. Lotus takes us back to our past and someone spends 2 million dollars... on what used to be a car.
And while most manufacturers are busy announcing their latest electric cars, hypercars, and sports cars, Mitsubishi is doing the opposite... and is cutting ties with a long-standing model.
Sit back, listen, enjoy, and relax.. this is CarQuicks!

REJOICE MY OVERLANDERS! The next great rig for additional shovels and cherry cans has arrived! Your rooftop tents never looked better!
But we have a SOLID option that looks clean, is not poorly designed, has a reputable company name behind it, and has the chops to traverse most terrain.
Alongside that news, #Nissan has done the unthinkable with the latest #Nismo Z... it's almost a bad dream, but it's actually a reality. A sad reality.
Subaru shows us once again how badly missed a new WRX STi is and Acura teases a returned nameplate.
Sit back and enjoy... this is CarQuicks!

This isn't anything we haven't already seen, tracks closing down has been a regular occurrence. Though this particular one was in an abrupt and swift fashion.
When this happens, the question that comes up is where that energy and those people go. Right now we have takeovers happening everywhere, one would assume if you take away a venue for sanctioned motorsports, it'll just funnel back into the streets. Or even more so.
But, what do I know... I have some thoughts though.
Alongside that discussion, I give another shoutout to Hyundai and their brilliant design job and another fair warning to all my car enthusiasts... we are on borrowed time for exciting sports cars... ACT ACCORDINGLY!
And more... sit back and enjoy, this is CarQuicks!
So... I understand we are full speed ahead with whatever the future of vehicle transportation will be. Whether we fall head first into electric, hybrid, hydrogen, or something else not yet invented, we are going somewhere that does not involve combustion engines. However, on our journey there, we are constantly being introduced to some new idea of what this future will be, and often that future is not looking that great. Lotus has given us their take on the electric SUV and well.... look.
Alongside, that polarizing debut, Koenigsegg drops their production version of the ridiculous Gemera, Feffari makes a bespoke race car that looks better than their entire current lineup, Tesla fans are being met with the realities of depreciating assets, and more.
Sit back, enjoy... this is CarQuicks!
Ferrari decided we needed another hyper, unobtainium version of the SF90, with the SF90 XX. Singer made headlines with one of the next greatest reimagined Porsche models. Mercedes is keeping your coupe dreams alive and Rolls-Royce cars are now virtually silent. And more! Sit back, listen, and enjoy... this is CarQuicks!
One would think that vehicle manufacturers would understand the essence of what car enthusiasts want. To understand why a specific model is so sought after, what engagement in driving means... why we are buying them in the first place! Somehow we are now standing on what will surely be one of the great missteps of automotive culture IF rumors are true. And those rumors are that the next Nismo Z, the top tier of the Z platform will be Automatic only. I can't convey in writing how ridiculous this would be, so listen to the episode. Alongside those thoughts, Toyota is continuing its understanding of car enthusiasts with more GR Model cars and a new #GRCorolla. Hyundai is pushing further and further into performance electric cars being engaging... and I get to give out my thoughts. And you thought I wasn't coming back with Episode 21... foolish child! Late but always right on time, in this episode I quickly cover the latest new SUV in the ever-growing sea of SUVs, with the Lexus GX and the new TX. Both are excellent additions to the segment and for sure volume sellers for Lexus and its customers. Before I get to that, Toyota broke the news that their batteries are gearing up as game changers for the EV market. Something very much needed to quell the fears of range anxiety. Alongside that Toyota has a manual-shifting EV? VW proves there is no limit to how much we will spend on a limited edition... hatchback, with the Golf R 333 and BMW killing the manual officially. At this point, all you can do is laugh... or cry. We are about 4 years into the insanity of dealership markups on new cars and we have a CEO of a leading manufacturer, telling its consumers, they can't figure it out. This is not rocket science, we are not asking for time travel... but the way some of these manufacturers talk about dealing with dealer relationships, you would think we asked for a time machine! The upcoming 2024 VW #IDBuzz is an essential vehicle for VW and their North American market, and also their image. But, given that the price will be something around or north of $50,000, telling consumers BEFORE the car is out, that markups may be inevitable, is an excellent way to kill your own hype. Let's discuss this. ______ #carquicks #podcast #episode20 #Volkswagen #electriccar #Microbus #2024IDBuzz #tesla #rivian #lucidair #markups #ADM #newcars
I get that headlines and the outrageous is what gets people talking... I mean that's what I am doing right now on this podcast episode. However, if electric cars are to really take hold of the mass market, we need these new companies to get away from these outrageous concepts. A $250,000 electric car as your first option is insane, considering the market we are in and who you ultimately want to attract. What would the trickle-down effect be of a niche manufacturer, just starting out, pricing their car for the 1%? How is this sustainable? Where are the actual $40,000 and under electric cars that the masses will buy? On this episode of CarQuicks I am basically venting about the ridiculousness of the Faraday Future FF91 announcement and the reality that these electric car start-ups aren't building companies for mass adoption. They are building headline story media companies. Sit back and enjoy... this is CarQuicks.
*Disclaimer: Due to a numbering mistake on my end, between the audio version and Youtube version of this podcast, we need to just skip 2 numbers and bring both channels into sync... so this is episode 18, though you've only made it to 15 on the audio side of the podcast. This is just to help me and you, if you are following the Youtube page as well. On Episode 18 I dive into the fact that BMW has teased us again that they know how to design a car. Having revealed the brilliant Sport Touring Coupe Concept, BMW is showing us that someone in their Design house has their head on straight. Alongside that concept, the 2024 BMW 5-Series has been announced, and surprisingly looks good! Aston Martin releases their gorgeous DB12 supercar, Toyota is once again facing the fire of failed engines in the GR86 cars, VinFast ALREADY has a recall, and much more! Sit back and enjoy... This is CarQuicks!
Yes, I know I say it's Episode 17, and the episode here says 15. Look I'm only human and recording video with a podcast is no easy task. Along with Youtube... this COE-life is not for the faint of heart. But back to the car news... Subaru teases the people they left high and dry with another WRX STi concept, VinFast a new electric car startup, hosted journalists to test out the VF8. The consensus among most journalists is that the electric SUV was terrible. And more!Sit back and enjoy... this is CarQuicks!
In this new episode, I dive into why Mercedes-Benz has consistently shown how to age gracefully with the reveal of their 2024 E-Class (BMW PLEASE TAKE NOTES!). Along with this reveal, I discuss the newly revealed restomod of an S2000R built by Evasive Motorsports. We talk about the Kona N and how badly this gem of a hatchback is neglected in the conversation of fun sports compact cars. And more! Sit back, relax, and enjoy... this is CarQuicks!
The recent backlash towards General Motors is the smoke before the fire. The idea that GM will make a compelling alternative to Apple Carplay or Android Auto within the next 3 years, is laughable at best. It's an insult to our intelligence. Google may be partnering with GM on this endeavor, but that does not make up for the YEARS both Google and Apple have poured into the constant updating and creating of their most profitable operating systems. This is a grab for your data and money. It's laying the groundwork for subscriptions and payment plans for in-car technologies. Listen in as I give you my thoughts on what will inevitably be a disaster. Don't say I never warned you, this will not end well for the consumer. In episode 12 of CarQuicks, this can only be considered a return to form. Acura has righted its wrongs from the initial Integra launch. The 2024 Integra Type-S is everything we want in a new Integra and I'm here to talk about it. This is CarQuicks with a Car Quick... or maybe it's just a normal podcast episode. Regardless, sit back and enjoy!
DISCLAIMER: This episode's audio is not the best. I began the first video segment of the podcast and ended up recording all audio through the camera. Apologies for the lack of quality. This will all be remedied on the next upload. Thanks!----------On this episode of Carquicks, Tesla employees reveal what I warned many about last week... watching over the private videos from owner's cars. RAM reveals the details on the REV EV truck, Gordon Murray showcases a brilliant supercar, Genesis knocks out another FIRE design, and more!
The successor of the much-loved Lamborghini Aventador has been revealed. Right on the heels of the last episode and discussing the new drivetrain. The next wave of iterations for the Revuelto is now going to be developed. Tesla is getting hacked and Toyota warns consumers that soon enough the average car will cost $50,000. And much more on in the EV space... sit back and enjoy! This is CarQuicks.
Acura may have received warranted backlash for releasing the iconic Integra nameplate, on what is essentially a Honda Crosstour, but they are making up for it with the return of the Type-S. And while Acura gets it right, Dodge in the midst of sending off its best-selling recipe with the Last Call of Challengers and Chargers, decided we all need another badly designed, priced small SUV. And much more... sit back, relax, and enjoy another episode of CarQuicks.
I mixed a bowl of goodness this week. I dive into how KIA is becoming a leader in car design with the new EV9, Ferrari getting test drives out for its SUV, which I am excited about, and Lamborghini giving us a sneak preview of the future of the Aventador replacement. Also, the time I and my son spent at the Super Lap Battle Time Attack event (Youtube video @CarQuicks on that)... sit back and enjoy!
In what can only be described as the inevitable dark future, or what we have all seen from the likes of iRobot to Minority Report, Ford files a patent that would allow cars to repossess themselves. Yeah, I know... wild times. And Porsche is masquerading around with a GT3 RS, knowing it's basically their Cup Car with airbags. Sit back and enjoy!
For some knowing the track time of a car is a key aspect in choosing what car they will buy. For the other 99% of car buyers, even specialty cars or sports cars, this is usually not a factor. So why do we spend so much time debating these times and worrying about them for street cars? Or cars even if designed for a track, spending most of their life on the street and not a track. It's an ongoing debate, but in this episode, I give my take on why I think we should start to worry less about these track times. Take a listen and enjoy!
The day has come. After over a year of talking about this car, reading about it, and watching countless Youtube videos, forums, and Facebook Groups, the GR Corolla is here. It's been a long time since I've been this genuinely excited about a car, especially one I own. It's everything and then some, my expectations so far have been met and many exceeded. We are only in the beginning stages of ownership, but so far... it's been amazing. Listen in on how my first thousand miles have been an experience to remember, from dealerships and markup to securing my exact spec hours from home. It's only right I document my initial thoughts and feelings... enjoy!
Each year Japan throws what is arguably one of the best car shows on the planet. The pinnacle show for use JDM car nerds and one that I will eventually find myself at. In the meantime, I take some time to share my thoughts on why this car show matters, what was revealed, what was controversial, some amazing surprises, and ultimately why it resonates with me. Sit back and enjoy... you are listening to CarQuicks.
Nissan once again set out to prove the moniker "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". And well, they've certainly not broken it, but the GTR is the same car its been, for something like 16 years. It's been a good run, but it's time we seriously consider another fresh design. It's been far too long and I have some thoughts on the matter. Enjoy!
The headlines for almost all new electric cars, reads something like, "ZERO to SIXTY in NEGATIVE 2 seconds, 700 miles of range, hands free driving!". It doesn't have to be this way. Each new electric car concept does not need to have wildly unrealistic features, that will never come to fruition. We need some sensibility in this race to be the premier manufacturer of electric cars. When can I just get a nice designed, Honda, without a $75,000 price tag? Time will tell. In the meantime, listen to my own thoughts real quick.
It couldn't be a more ridiculous time to buy a car. At this moment, almost every car at dealerships is being hit with "market adjustment". In the specialty car space, this is almost a guaranteed practice. However, how much do we as car buyers, car enthusiasts really care? Would we ignore it if we had the means to pay any cost? Is it a moral obligation we stand against it? Is it the price of doing business? I don't know, but I have a few thoughts I need to get out about it. Listen in real quick.
