Motoyasu Bridge looks into the world of the English teaching in Japan. The setting is Hiroshima of the 1990’s. Randal Laurence is a Canadian teacher with a partying life that is spinning out of control. When Randal meets Amekawa-san, an A-bomb survivor who comes every morning to Motoyasu Bridge, Ground Zero, to look for his long lost love Sayuri-chan, Randal realizes his sordid life in Japan must end. While on vacation he meets an old lady in kimono who offers him her dead husband’s hospital to start an English school ‘of his very own.’ But it’s a trap and the worst kind.

It's the end of the year. Randal is dressed as Santa for the kiddies. The English teachers are drunk and unruly. Randal learns from Ernest about the American teachers that went missing.

‘The Great Mistake’
Amekawa-san is 65, a survivor of the Hiroshima bomb. He prepares to go to the Motoyasu Bridge to meet Sayuri, the girl he was going to run away with on the morning of The Great Mistake, 50 years ago.
