Welcome to Episode 28!!!! Today’s interview is an interview that was divinely postponed until the right moment, and the moment is now. I don’t write that lightly, it truly is the right moment. I was supposed to interview Mark Mabry a couple months ago, and for multiple reasons it didn’t work out. Fast forward to last Thursday, I watched “The Sound of Freedom” at the theater, and I felt like I should contact Mark again about recording an interview last minute about being a Guardian of Freedom so I messaged him that night, and here we are, not even a month later.

So, that is what today’s episode is about- what it means to be a Guardian of Freedom in the context of the work that Mark Mabry has done with Tim Ballard in Operation Underground Railroad. To me, Mark Mabry and Tim Ballard, and I know they’d be uncomfortable with this, but to me, these men are modern day Captain Moroni’s. Ya’ll know I don’t make that comparison lightly. Captain Moroni did so much good despite his hot-headedness. These men do as well, despite whatever weaknesses they have. They fight for freedom everyday and aren’t afraid to talk about it.

This interview is a once in a life-time interview that I will cherish and think back on my whole life. I learned so much and Mark was such an easy person to talk to. I hope you enjoy today’s episode! Tell me what you think by writing a review!

Can you believe that we are already at episode 20??? To commemorate this episode, because I think that 20 episodes is kind of a big deal, I have someone very special to me as my guest, my cousin Kristi Thom! I love her so much, and I think her story needs to be shared with more people. To me, and likely everyone she knows, Kristi is a Guardian of Perseverance.Kristi is a wife and mom of 5 that lives in Flagstaff, AZ. Kristi is one of the most optimistic and kind people I’ve ever known, which is pretty incredible considering the fact that at age 17 she got in a big accident that completely changed the trajectory of her life. And it still affects her today more than 20 years later. Regardless of the health challenges that have come her way and literally brought her to death’s door, she continues on in her faith and in her life. That is why I think she is a Guardian of Perseverance.Virtue- what comes to mind when you hear that word??? One of my favorite definitions for virtue is “a beneficial quality or power of a thing”. Welcome to Episode 16 of the Guardians of Virtue Podcast. Today’s episode is with another very talented musician- Yahosh Bonner. I had the once in a life-time opportunity to have the pleasure of actually performing with Yahosh at a sacrament meeting here in South Carolina 2 years ago. Performing as a pianist for such an accomplished singer was a true blessing I will always cherish. I feel humbled that Yahosh was willing to be on today’s podcast. Our intention was to talk about what it means to be a Guardian of Music, but as our conversation continued, I quickly realized that Yahosh is also a Guardian of Heritage. He talks a lot about the blessings of his family heritage. He truly cherishes his family, and told me he feels blessed to perform with his family all of the time. Yahosh Bonner is a Singer and an Athletics Director at a Christian school in Utah. He is also a TV host for the BYUtv show “Family Rules”. Yahosh is an actor, and is most recently found in the movie his brother created called “Green Flake” about the black pioneer named Green Flake. He loves sharing his love for God through the music he sings and is often heard singing wherever he is, whether he’s at home in the kitchen, or at work on the basketball court. He travels across the country and performs in concerts with his family- The Bonner Family where they sing gospel music that inspires others to lean on God.Without further ado, here is my conversation with Yahosh Bonner, a Guardian of Music and Family Heritage. What happens when you put joy, super heroes, and a love of all things good and holy together? Welcome to episode 14 of the podcast! Today’s special guest is a Guardian of the Word. Nearly every day for the last 9 years, she shares quotes from General Conference talks. I know the majority of my listeners are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, so General Conference is familiar with a lot of you, but it is my sincere hope that this reaches more than that, so I am going to explain what General Conference is. General Conference is a two day conference held by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints semi-annually- in the first weekends in April and October. During the conference, leaders of the church talk about topics of which they’ve been inspired to speak. We talk more about it during our chat, but I do want to say that General Conference is one of my favorite times of the year besides Christmas. It’s a weekend full of spiritual highs, communing with the Saints, talking about Jesus, cherished family time, and eating copious amounts of cinnamon rolls. People go to self-help conferences all of the time, and while those are amazing, I can testify that General Conference is by far the best type of self-help conference you can attend, and its free, and you can watch it in the comfort of your own home. Booyah! It’s broadcasted to the entire world in real time, with access to listen to and read the talks that same week. I promise there will be nothing as life-changing as attending General Conference. I will put a link in the show notes so you can come and see for yourself! Now it’s time to introduce today’s guest- Courtney Tolman.Courtney is a wife and mom to 3 children. She is passionate about helping others, singing, speaking, quotes, health and fitness, healthy mindset, the Gospel and family! One of her greatest desires is that Christs light, kindness and love will shine through her. She loves getting outside on hikes and is content in the mountains and in nature. She graduated from Weber State university in Public Relations and is continually gaining and pursuing education and self development. She shares general conference quotes daily on her Instagram account called @genconflove.We talk all things General Conference and our love for the word of God during our conversation. So, without further adieu, let’s find out what it truly means to be a Guardian of the Word with Courtney Tolman. To watch General Conference, go here: https://www.youtube.com/user/LDSGeneralConference

Lita Merrell is from Calgary, Canada. She and her husband have been married for 7 years, and they have two adorable daughters. In July 2022 she started a business as a certified pediatric sleep consultant, and also moved to Tucson, Arizona for her husband to complete his PhD in Political Science. Moving to another country was more of a shock than she anticipated, and she fell hard into anxiety and fear. She was having panic attacks daily (if they ever ended at all) and she used that fear to dive deeper into faith than she ever had before. She loves the gospel more than I could ever describe. Today you get to meet a very special person- my grandma Margene Lindsay! Grandma is a true Guardian of Perseverance, Enduring to the end, and Family. This interview took place on a surprise visit in April of 2022, where she reminded me that I had told her I wanted to do an interview with her. She was so tickled to tell her stories and had them ready to go. This is equal parts selfish for sharing this piece of family history, but I feel like the world needs to know the goodness and wisdom of this beautiful 92 ½ year old.
