The Unity of the Faith 1. What That Unity Looks Like 2. What That Unity Causes
The unity of the faith forged within this Church is reliant upon Christ's gift of men to you, who, as pastors and teachers, minister His Word where you all are exposed to the same sanctifying truth week after week. "Who is your pastor?" is a vital question to answer. ~ Ephesians 4:11-13
One Holy Catholic Church 1. Unity of the Spirit 2. Unity of the Faith
Everyone who lives in the faith, hope, and love, in Christ, in the same Spirit of God belongs to the Church catholic; for they have been called to the same inheritance of eternal life, and participation in one God and Christ. ~ John Calvin [Ephesians 4:4-6]
The Church Is God’s Servant 1. Serving under God’s Sovereignty 2. Serving with All Boldness 3. Serving In the Spirit’s Power
Isaiah 49: 1-7, Sermon Text Acts 4:13-31
The sovereignty of God is a doctrine of peace to our souls. Why should we be afraid of those who gather against us when we know their actions are governed by the Lord? [Acts 4:27-28]
The Church Is God’s Family 1. In Christ, We are Children of God 2. In Christ, We Are All One 3. In Christ, We Are Abraham’s Seed
In Christ, God is no longer our Judge ready to condemn and sentence us; God is now our Father who has forgiven and pardoned us, who has now covered us in righteousness and accepted us as His beloved children. And we receive this new standing solely by faith in Christ. [Galatians 3:26]
The Church Is Militant 1. The Battle Ground 2. The Enemy We face 3. The Lord in Whom We Stand
Before the Sabeans and Chaldeans raided Job's herds, and the storm and tornado destroyed his flocks and killed his children, there was the heaven spiritual conflict by Satan with God. We do not wrestle with simply flesh and blood, but against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. [Job 1 / Ephesians 6:10-20]
The Church Is God’s Temple 1. Jesus Christ Is the Foundation 2. The Holy Spirit Dwells Within
As the Temple of God, the church is a holy gathering of believers who share in the baptism of the Spirit, and become the place where the Father and the Son make their home.1Cor.3:16-17 / John 14:23
The Church Is the Body of Christ 1. The Body Is One in Christ 2. The Body Is Many Members 3. You Are the Body of Christ
Christ's Church needs the diversity of members [ethnically, socially, age, etc] so that the body can learn to care, honour, nurture, and consider others more than oneself. This is what it means to think soberly; this is what it means to be as Christ. [1Corinthians 12:12, 24-26]
The Church and Evangelism 1. The Father’s Reconciliation 2. Christ’s Love 3. The Terror of the Lord
Each day we are to have our feet ready with the preparation of the gospel of peace, for the Father wishes to plead through us, "Be reconciled to God!"
The Church and Her Worship: Sermon Points 1. Worship the Father 2. Worship in Christ 3. Worship in Spirit & Truth
This is sermon three of twelve in our "The Church" series
The church's greatest struggles have been with idolatry and unity. Like Israel of old, the church often delves into worldly practices, wisdom, and philosophies that are contrary to God and His Word. This most often happens because she is ignorant of her communion with Christ, and how participation with idolatry impacts that communion.
