On “Should I Keep This?” sketch performer Samantha Russell (Secret Pants, Goat Rodeo & Youth Large) talks with fellow comedians about props they’ve been holding on to and whether or not they should keep them. No matter how useless an item may seem, the emotional connection to comedy props can be strong. New episodes every two weeks!
On this episode guest Zachary Uzupis and Sam send messages to the podcast’s celestial listeners and discuss the logistics of starting a cult. This week’s props: a bird poop hat and a purple 70s robe.
Zachary Uzupis is a longtime performer of stage and television – from musical theater at the storied Bucks County Playhouse in New Hope, PA to sketch and improv comedy at the infamous Upright Citizens Brigade Theater, as well as the Philly Improv Theater – where he performed sketch comedy with Goat Rodeo for over 6 years. Zak has most recently starred in fellow Goat Rodeo member’s film production titled, “2015: Future Uncertain” – which has just gotten licensed through Amazon Prime and Tubi, among others. Zak is also the founding member and Executive Director of Bucks County NORML – a local chapter of the National Organization to Reform Marijuana Laws. When he’s not trying to make people laugh or get really stoned, he’s a family man – married to a beautiful 2nd grade teacher and the father of a lovely 10 year old, coaching the little league soccer team.

After years of being a fan, Josh Higham got started in sketch comedy, taking classes with members of Secret Pants and Kevin Allison of The State. After a year with Judo Range and a couple years in the comedy wilderness, Josh snuck his way into becoming one of the producers of Philly Sketchfest. He created and hosts My First Sketch, a podcast where comedians share their earliest attempts at sketch comedy and talk about making people laugh, with its next season coming soon. Latanya (Tanya) Morgan is Southern New Jersey based actor, writer, director, teaching artist, improv performer, acting/improv coach, applied improv corporate trainer and theatre owner/operator. She began her career acting on stage, in films and commercials more than 20 years ago. She spent time as a writer and performer on one of the most popular Philly sketch teams, The Rhubarbs. Tanya performs improv comedy monthly with indie improv teams: Daddy Issues, The NCrowd, NYTEShift, No Diggity and Not Yet Rated. Tanya is also the owner and operator of the South Philadelphia based Children’s Theatre and Education Center: Sawubona Creativity Project. Guest Randi Warhol and Sam chat about costumes that remind us of times gone by and having really elaborate props for theme parties. This week’s items: Meat Is Murder Burlesque costume and an extermination tent for Sam’s house.
Randi Warhol, often described as the “carrot top of burlesque” by her peers, is a Philadelphia-are artist known for her love of cats, quirky burlesque acts, and cat toy designs. In 2012, she earned a certificate in Pet Product Design and Marketing from the Fashion Institute of New York.
Working in burlesque, Randi was able to carry her skills into her cat toy business, Polydactyl (named for her beloved many-toed polydactyl cat, Elliott). Her toys have been available in stores in the USA, Canada, and Japan, and have made appearances in publications such as Cosmopolitan Magazine, Bust, The LA Times, and of course… CAT FANCY.
Randi can be found these days designing new toys, fostering bottle baby kittens, and attending local cat shows as a vendor to promote her business. Follow her on instagram @randiwarhol and @polydactylcats

This week Toronto native Cam Wyllie and Sam talk about how each prop has a destiny and goal to fulfill even if that may take over a decade. The conversation then gets surprisingly deep while discussing a band who has an album called Take Off Your Pants and Jacket. This week’s props- Carlos the puppet and an autographed Blink 182 cardboard cutout.
Cam Wyllie is Canada’s beloved Sketch Comedy Maniac, with 3 Canadian Comedy Award Nominations, Festival Appearances all over North America, and a bunch of Comedy Awards with made up sounding names. This week, guest Shannon DeVido and Sam chat about holding onto things we know we absolutely shouldn’t and Sam tries to find a starring role for her massive prop. This episode’s items: a Burger King crown and a gigantic teddy bear.
Shannon DeVido is a BAFTA Breakthrough actress, comedian, and writer. She is best known for her work on TV in Bridesman, Difficult People, Insatiable, Delco Proper, Manifest, and Law & Order: SVU. Coming soon, she will be seen in Bob Odenkirk’s new show Lucky Hank on AMC. She created the role of Buck in Mike Lew’s play Teenage Dick and in 2022 won an Elliot Norton Award for her performance. She is also the lead in the SWSX Award winning film, Best Summer Ever. Her YouTube channel, Stare at Shannon, has amassed over 1 million views and is focused on dismantling the societal stereotypes of people with disabilities. Finally, Shannon has written three award winning short films, The Siblings Liebencrantz, Musical Chairs, and Cindy and Piper Drive to McDonald’s that have appeared in film festivals around the world. Zia Hiltey is a photographer who has been shooting wrestling since 2009. She was also a writer and performer in the sketch group Youth Large and Fridge show Promania. Julia Hudson is a Philly sketch comedian who has written and performed with a variety of groups, most notably Sweetish and Barbara Bush. She was writer and director for the former Philly Improv Theater house team All Nite Deli. These days you can catch her performing alongside Brian Craig in their monologue project – Crying Alone on the Shower.

Marcely Jean-Pierre is a Philly-based comedian, improviser, writer, and sketch performer from Willingboro, New Jersey. His silly takes on serious issues and serious takes on the silly make Marcely’s comedic style a unique blend of intellect and playfulness. Marcely was a longtime contributor for satire website Flexx Magazine and his comedy sketches have been featured at Toronto Sketchfest, Philly Sketchfest, and Funny or Die, Philadelphia Public Access TV station PhillyCam.

Jolie Darrow is a comedian, writer, and actor living in Los Angeles, She’s currently the segment producer for a talk show on Amazon’s Twitch channel, Crown and was a writer and producer on the Tiktok sketch show Stapleview. She also writes and does a podcast for The Hard Times.

Things get a little hairy when guest Caitlin Corkery and Sam both bring multiple wigs to the
pod. They discuss how multiples of the same wigs can make things funnier and come up with
some creative new uses for old wigs. This week’s props: four Ben Franklin wigs and a trash bag
full of wigs.
Caitlin Corkey is a Philadelphia improvisor and was a part of improv teams Asteriod!, Royal
Baby, The Future, & Study Hall (to name a few). She wrote sketch comedy for the fabulous
all-lady team, Mani Pedi and as part of the sketch duo, House of Solitude. She’s performed in
comedy festivals in Pittsburgh, Detroit, San Diego, Austin, Boston, New York, and Edmonton,
Canada. And currently she hosts the local storytelling competition, The Moth and is writing and
producing two original kids’ shows for the Philadelphia PBS affiliate, WHYY.
