The history of disability acts in the U.S. is marked by significant milestones aimed at promoting equality and accessibility. The Rehabilitation Act of 1973 was a key early law, prohibiting discrimination based on disability in federal programs. The Education for All Handicapped Children Act of 1975 ensured public education for children with disabilities. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990 was a landmark law, providing comprehensive civil rights protections in employment, public services, and accommodations. More recently, the ADA Amendments Act of 2008 expanded protections, clarifying and broadening the definition of disability to ensure greater inclusion and support for individuals with disabilities. Join me on a trip through your coffee pot for disability acts, and rights, along with a bit of coffee fun!
