Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ,
To those who reside as strangers, scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, who are chosen 2 according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, by the sanctifying work of the Spirit, [a]to obey Jesus Christ and be sprinkled with His blood: May grace and peace be multiplied to you.
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable, undefiled, and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, 5 who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 6 In this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various [b]trials, 7 so that the [c]proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which perishes though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ; 8 and though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and [d]full of glory, 9 obtaining as the outcome of your faith, the salvation of [e]your souls.
"My brethren, if any among you strays from the truth and one turns him back, let him know that he who turns a sinner from the err of of his way will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins" (James 5:19-20)
is anyone among you suffering? Then he must pray. Is anyone cheerful? He is to sing praises. Is anyone among you sick? Then he must call for the elders of the church and they are to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer offered in faith will restore the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up, and if he has committed sins, they will be forgiven him. Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much. Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the earth for three years and six months. Then he prayed again, and the sky poured rain and the earth produced its fruit" (James 5:13-18, NASB)
"But above all my brothers and sisters, do not swear either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath; but your yes is to be yes and your no is to be no so that you do not fall under Judgment" (James 5:12)
"Therefore be patient, brothers and sisters, until the coming of the Lord. The farmer waits for the precious produce of the soil, being patient about it, until it gets the early and late rains. You too be patient; strengthen your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is near. Do not complain, brothers and sisters, against one another so that you may not be judged; behold the Judge is standing right at the door. As an example, brothers and sisters, of suffering and patience, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. We count those blessed who endured. You have heard of the endurance of Job and have seen the outcome of the Lord's dealings that the Lord is full of compassion and is merciful." (James 5:7-11)
"Come now, you rich people, weep and howl for you miseries which are coming upon you. Your riches have rotted and your garments have become moth-eaten. Your gold and your silver have corroded, and then corrosion will serve as a testimony against you and will consume your flesh like fire. It is the last days that you have stored up your treasure! Behold, the pay of the laborers who mowed your field, and which has been withheld by you, cries out against you; and the out cry of those who did the harvesting has reached the ears of the Lord of armies. You have lived for pleasure on the earth and lived luxuriously; you have fattened your hearts in a day of slaughter. You have condemned and put to death the righteous person; he offers you no Resistance." (James 5:1-6, NASB)
"Come now, you who say, 'Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, and spend a year there and engage in business and make a profit.' Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. For you are just a vaport that appears for a little while and then vanishes away. Instead, you ought to say, 'If the Lord wills, we will live and also do this or that.' But as it is, you boast in your arrogance; all such boasting is evil. So for one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, for him it is a sin."
(James 4:13-17)
"Do not speak against one another, brothers and sisters. The one who speaks against a brother or sister, or judges his brother or sister, speaks against the law and judges the law; but if you judge the law you are not a doer of the law but a judge of it. There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the One who is able to save and to destroy; but who are you judging your neighbor." (James 4:11-12)
"Submit therefore to God. But resist the devil, and He will flee from you. Come Close to God and He will come close to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double minded. Be miserable, and mourn, and weep; let your laughter be turned into mourning, and your joy into gloom. Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord and he will exalt you."
What is the source of quarrels among you? Is the source not your pleasures that wage war in your body parts? You lust and do not have, so you commit murder. And you are envious and can not obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have because you do not ask, You ask and do not have because you ask with the wrong motives, so that you may spend what you request on your pleasures.
You adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore whoever wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. Or do you think that the Scripture speaks to no purpose, 'He jealously desires the spirit who he has made to dwell in us'? But he gives us a great grace. Therefore it says, 'God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble. (James 4:1-6, NASB)
Who among you is wise and understanding? Let him show by his good behavior his deeds in the gentleness of wisdom. But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, do not be arrogant and so lie against the truth. This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, [b]natural, demonic. For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every evil thing. But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peace-loving, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial, free of hypocrisy. And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace. (James 3:13-18, NKJV)
"Was our father Abraham not justified by works when he offered up his son Isaac on the altar? You see that faith was working with his works, and as a results of the works, faith was perfected; and the scripture was fulfilled which says, 'And Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness, and he as called a friend of God. You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone. In the same way Rahab the prostitute not justified by works also when she received the messengers and sent them out by another way? For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead." (James 2:21-26, NASB)
What use is it my brothers and sisters if someone says he has faith but has no works? Can that faith save him?
"My brothers, show not partiality as you hold the faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory. For if a man wearing a gold ring and fine clothing comes into your assembly, and a poor man in shabby clothing also comes in, and if you pay attention to the one who wears the fine clothing and say, 'you sit here in a good place,' while you say to the poor man, 'You stand over there', or 'Sit down at my feet,' Have you not then made distinctions among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts?"
"If anyone thinks himself to be religious, yet does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this person's religion is worthless. Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself unstained by the world"
"But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not just hearers who deceive themselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror; for once he has looked at himself and gone he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was. But one who has looked intently at the perfect law, the law of freedom and has continued in it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an active doer, this person will be blessed in what he does." (James 1:22-25, NASB)
"You know this, my beloved brothers and sisters. Now everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger; for a mans anger does not bring about the righteousness of God. Therefore, ridding yourselves of all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness, in humility receive the word implanted, which is able to save your souls." (James 1:19-21, NASB)
"In the exercise of His will He gave us birth by the word of truth, so that we would be a kind of first fruits among his creatures" (James 1:18, NASB)
Blessed is a man who perseveres under trail; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. No one is to say when he is tempted, I am being tempted by God for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone. But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust. Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it has run its course, brings forth death. Do not be deceived, my beloved brothers and sisters. Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.
James 1:9-11"
"But the brother of humble circumstances is to glory in his high position; and the rich man is to glory in his humiliation, because like flowering grass he will pass away. For the sun rises with a scorching wind and witheres the grass; and its flower falls off and the beauty of its appearance is destroyed; so too the rich man in the midst of his pursuits will fade away" (James 1:9-11, ESV)
"But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach and it will be given to him. But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord, being a double minded man unstable in all his ways." (James 1;5-8, ESV)
This morning I make a change to my Podcasts format. Whereas first I was picking topics at random and using various Bible verse to support, I will be taking an expository, verse by verse approach, dealing with 1 book at a time. I hope you will be blessed by the new study of Gods Word.

"put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. (Ephesians 6:11-12)

When most people who dismiss Christianity do so, its because they think they can't moreover won't want to live a Christian life. They get all caught up in the can't do. What is vital for the unbeliever to understand is that when you become a Christian when the Holy Spirit is in dwelt in side of you, you no longer want to do what your not supposed to do and want to do that which pleases the Lord instead of that which grieves His spirit.

There are many verses in the Bible that talk about punishment, hell and the end times however not many scriptures bring you face to face with the truth with finality the way Matt 7:22-23 does . "On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’
Many people at the end will have been living their lives like they believe they were saved and on the right path because that might have been what they were taught or perhaps the path to God looked good at the beginning but when it came to removing certain sin from their lives; internally they excused it, believed Jesus would over look that one because you do so much good. However scripture makes it clear, you can not earn your way to salvation, but never repenting from your sin or living in chronic sin, (sin in your life you accepted so you believe because you or perhaps even society tells you your sin is ok when its those large parts of society that are dooming themselves to Hell .)
With its American roosts in the post WWII The Prosperity Gospel had its main expansion in the 1970's. It's proponents preach that through exesisve giving and demanding entitlements from God the Christian experience is supposed to be someplace between Disney land and H&R Block.
An extremely dangerous sect within the American Pentecostal Tradition, it teaches that Christianity is supposed to be experienced through excessive wealth; quite different from that of the "suffering servant" presented by Jesus.
