The Scriptures instruct us to slow down, to be still (Ps. 46:10), to take regular rest (Ex 20:8-10), and to fill our minds with what is true, noble, right, and pure (Phil 4:8). Yet we live in a world that assaults us with distraction and never stops prompting us. We’re living in a time of acceleration—and AI is reshaping work, creativity, and even how we think. While technology will always shape society for either good or bad, the saints are to […]
On Oct 7th 2023 Hamas forces entered into Israel and committed barbaric acts of terror against the civilian population. The horrific images of these acts circled the globe inciting horror, rage and disbelief. Since that time Israel has launched a massive military initiative with the aim of eliminating the threat of Hamas. As a result, the death toll in Gaza is rising daily with thousands of civilians caught in the crossfire. Who are the good guys? Who are the bad guys? Or better still, who is in the right? The conflict in the middle east is not merely geopolitical, or ideological. It has spiritual roots, and until the spiritual root is addressed, every other solution will fail. These are frightening times for many, and the amount of speculation given to this event regarding its prophetic significance is confusing. How is the average saint to respond?Joining us today is a former devout Muslim who have been gloriously saved by the Grace of Christ to help the average saint rightly navigate this time faithfully and practically.
Masculinity has fallen on hard times in the West. Almost everything associated with masculinity is increasingly considered toxic. On one hand, our society decries masculinity, while on the other it castigates men for retreating from their responsibilities. Clearly, our society is tragically confused. While our society propagates confusion, many young men are languishing in despair. As someone put it, we are in desperate need for sanctified testosterone. This will not come from the leading thinkers of the day. It must […]

The average saint acknowledges the supernatural. The very core of our faith rests on a supernatural event: the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. Yet, when it comes to supernatural manifestations of God’s Spirit there’s both confusion and controversy among faithful saints. Join us today as we discuss how to answer the question, Charismania and Charismata?
Abortion, however justified, is a modern day form of child sacrifice. Join us today as discuss the question of how can the average saint hope to engage faithfully, graciously and wisely with those who think abortion is ‘no big deal, and offer a life giving solution’?
The saint must consider that like any other man made tool, tech can be used wisely or foolishly, righteously or unrighteously; it can be life giving or life taking. Join us today as we discuss how the average saint can wisely navigate the use of this tool in our digital age.
Today, it’s not uncommon for music from Bethel, or Hillsong to be heard at churches who are orthodox in their doctrine. It is understandable that some are concerned since both Bethel and Hillsong have beliefs and practices that go far beyond historical and confessional Christianity. Should we simply censor songs from these ministries? Will singing them smuggle in strange and dangerous doctrines into the church? Do churches who sing these songs support error? Join us as we discuss these questions and […]
Join us in this episode as Jason Hagen and Ted Fenske (Physician, Elder and teaching fellow at the Ezra Institute) as they attempt to dispel some of the misconceptions and rumours that have been floating around about the topic of Theonomy
Most Christians know that we are called to make disciples of every nation. Yet, we live in a society dominated by idols and one that is either ignorant of the gospel or hostile to it. So, how do we faithfully fulfill our calling in our context? Join us as we discuss the theology behind our calling as average saints and share some practical tactics to living our identity and calling in this present context.
Over the course of the last 15 months it appears as though all of healthcare has been focused on reducing, or stopping, or slowing the virus. While some responses have been well intended, more and more healthcare professionals have raised an alarm, observing that the collateral damage done by focusing healthcare through one lens has been catastrophic. How can the average saint respond?
Recently, we’ve seen unprecedented actions taken by authorities in arresting and imprisoning pastors in our province. James Coates, Tim Stephens, and Artur Pawlowski were all thrown in jail for opening their churches and not complying with Alberta Health restrictions. Debates have erupted questioning the faithfulness of these men, questioning if this is in line with Christ and his gospel. An article in the Calgary Herald went so far as to charge these men with blasphemy – claiming that their illegal […]
After 15 months, it looks like our COVID chains are starting to come off. The recent announcement made by our Alberta government has us opening up by July 2021, Lord willing. While this was welcome news to many, I’ve been surprised to hear that some are not ready to return to a life without health restrictions. Psychologists are calling it COVID anxiety syndrome; its defined as, “…the inability to leave the house because of COVID-19 fears, frequent checking for symptoms […]
Recently, in British Columbia, the court dismissed a challenge to the government’s prohibition on in-person religious gatherings. While the court did admit that the prohibition infringed on people’s religious freedoms, it found that the chief medical officer was owed deference to her decision making and was not required to be correct in making her orders. She only needed to act in a reasonable range of alternatives. Let that sink in. The chief medical officer didn’t need to be correct in […]
Recently, many health experts have remarked that even after we have a significant amount of vaccinations, and normal levels of hospitalizations, mask wearing will continue. Many are saying that human faces will be covered indefinitely. What will the consequences be, socially and spiritually, in covering the faces of the entire population? The human face is, after all, absolutely vital to how we relate to each other, from the cradle to the grave. We understand this reality from both experience and […]
In the midst of our COVID age, the church has needed to wrestle through her convictions unlike any other time in recent history. It’s been a polarizing time, especially surrounding the question of gathering the church or not gathering the church in light of current health orders and mandates. Some churches have chosen to remain open, others have shut down, and some land somewhere in between. Who’s right?
History is overflowing with the injustice, cruelty, brutality and inhumanity of slavery. From the first ancient civilizations through to the present, every race has either enslaved its own, or others. Slavery is one of the ugliest manifestations of human evil, recognized by all. Today, when the topic of slavery is brought up, many focus on the evils of the Atlantic slave trade. Thankfully, this kind of slavery in North America ended 154 years ago. However, given that the history of […]
Jesus once said to his disciples, “…the poor you will always have with you and you can do good to them whenever you will…” (Mark 14:7) Since then, His followers have been doing good to the poor throughout the world. Here in Edmonton, there are many who are hurting, hungry and homeless. Today, I’m sitting down with a dear brother who’s given his life in serving them in the inner city, and helping them find real hope. Mark Turner is a […]
Coming to gather in public with the people of God is now risky. I’m not talking about the threat of the new virus in town, but the risk that comes from new perceptions arising out of our COVID age. Our surrounding culture increasingly looks at Church gatherings as unnecessary health risks…”Why do they insist on getting together, hugging, and singing germs – can’t they just stay home and read their Bibles – weirdos.” Yet, risking social stigma and even health to follow […]
