Making resolutions is our hot topic in these first episodes of JourneyWise Season 3. Welcome back! Shane, Ronnie and James continue the conversation about resolutions – why we make them, what they are really about, and how to pack them with scripture. You may want to grab your Bible as you follow along today as the guys offer great Biblical references to guide you through the New Year using Jesus as your journey partner.
Resource: God’s Yellow Pages - https://godsolovestheworld.net/the-word/gods-yellow-pages/ Biblical References: Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV) 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.[a] Eph 2:10 (Living Bible) 10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. 1 Corinthians 15:58 (NIV) 58 Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. Hebrews 4:12 12 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Philippians 4:19 (MEV) 19 But my God shall supply your every need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Matthew 6:32-33 (NIV) 32 (For the Gentiles seek after all these things.) For your heavenly Father knows that you have need of all these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be given to you. Hebrews 11:39 and 12:1-2 (NIV) 39 These were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised, Hebrews 12:1-2 (NIV) 12 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Romans 5:2 (Living Bible) 2 For because of our faith, he has brought us into this place of highest privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to actually becoming all that God has had in mind for us to be. Socials: @drshanestanford @thejourneywisenetwork

Welcome to JourneyWise. This week’s episode addresses the subject of building healthy relationships. From conflicts (fight or flight) to communication (how you say it is as important as how you hear it) to forgiveness (got to put in the work), Shane, Ronnie, and James touch on each area and offer not only practical advice but share stories of their strategies being put into action. Welcome back to JourneyWise. Join our hosts as they tackle the tough topic of loss and grief. Ronnie shares the story of losing his father who had a stroke, fell into a 12-year stroke-induced coma, and passed away. Shane, James, and Ronnie give perspective on the 5 stages of grief that we all work through upon the loss of a loved one and remind us through scripture we know that God intends for us to love and invest in others even at the risk of losing everything. Jesus tell us in the Beatitudes “blessed are those who mourn for they will be comforted” and Paul tells us that God comforts us so that we can comfort others.

The first 12 years of children’s lives are pivotal and parents for the most part are inundated with the “must-have” and “must-do” advice and information that bombards them. Imagine the heavy responsibility they felt trying to balance raising their earthly child (discipline) and preparing Him as God intended (the Messiah)! Season 1, Episode 7
The journey to the manger was far from ordinary for Mary and Joseph. Shane and Ronnie begin a series on the nativity and how our own journeys both differ and are similar to Jesus’ earthly parents. From the implications of their situation to the family of origin that shaped how they responded to God’s plan for His son’s arrival into the world, Mary and Joseph’s not so ordinary journey was remarkable in so many ways as we consider our own families and relationships during the time leading up to Christmas.

Listen today to hear what Jesus meant when He said this to his disciples, what it means for us to also be salt & light and how “You Matter” became the tag line of Shane’s ministry.

Season 1 Episode 3
We all love to hear stories of people’s journeys to a particular season of life, how they come to live in a particular place or choose careers. This week, Ronnie shares how he became to be a pediatrician. As with many of us, Ronnie’s path to medical school was not straight nor necessarily planned but as with everything, God had a plan and it is clear He was paving the way for Ronnie in his journey to becoming a doctor and then opening a clinic to treat children and adolescents with ADHD.

Season 1 Episode 2
Shane and Ronnie continue sharing stories along their journey as their relationship transitioned from patient/doctor to friends. On a day they agreed to meet and talk through some specific struggles, they realized God had placed the same verse on their hearts that very morning to share with each other - before they met. That wasn’t coincidence! Listen as they tell how that verse on that day answers the question “Why do bad things happen to good people?”.
After the break, a new season of life brings new obstacles for Shane to navigate as he reaches the time he had to begin telling others of his HIV status, the start of his career as a pastor and wanting to have children. Ronnie’s role during that season as friend, providing guidance through life experience and sharing his faith reminds us that our relationship with Jesus will carry us through the imperfect life in which we live.
