What made the early church so powerful? Before a single New Testament document existed, a small band of disciples had already "turned the world upside down." Their secret wasn't elaborate theology or complex structures, but a simple, life-changing message: Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again.
This message carried such power because it came from eyewitnesses. They had watched Jesus suffer through crucifixion—a historical fact so established that even skeptical scholars acknowledge it as "indisputable." Having witnessed Christ's suffering firsthand enabled these disciples to later face their own persecution with remarkable joy, keeping their eyes fixed on what He had endured for them.
But witnessing Christ's death wasn't what transformed these frightened followers. Everything changed when the resurrected Jesus appeared in their midst, saying essentially, "I'm here now. Everything's going to be alright." From that moment, confusion turned to clarity, fear to boldness, and uncertainty to purpose. As Peter later testified, "We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey Him."
This testimony resonates across centuries because while we weren't physically present at Calvary or the empty tomb, the Holy Spirit—who was there—bears witness to these truths in our hearts today. This divine confirmation transforms intellectual belief into living faith.
The message that revolutionized the ancient world remains just as powerful today. When life takes unexpected turns, when sickness, financial struggle, or relationship problems overwhelm us, Jesus still appears in our midst with the same reassurance: "I'm here. Everything's going to be alright." Our circumstances may not immediately change, but recognizing His presence changes everything about how we face them.
Whatever you're going through right now, remember this transformative truth: Jesus is alive forevermore. Let this reality penetrate your heart, and experience the same power that turned the world upside down two thousand years ago.

This sermon was given by Bro. Stephens of the church insider podcast. We honor the friendship of the media ministry of Savannah holy church of God.
This sermon was pulled from the "Church Insider" podcast. Holiness Preaching Online fully endorses the media ministry of Savannah church of God in Savannah, Georgia. We was given full permission to use this sermon from the "Church insider" podcast host.
Rev. G.W. Birdsong was the youngest and last surviving member of eight children born to Corbit Birdsong and Maude (Howard) Birdsong. He was born July10, 1928 near Golden Pond in far western Kentucky.
G.W. was saved at the young age of 11. His little home church, Hopewell Baptist. After attending a revival near his home he decided to join with the Holiness people.
He and his brother Dan, who were already accomplished singers and musicians in their community, began touring the United States singing gospel music when he was only 13 years old.
G.W. preached his first message at the age of 15, and that ministry took him to all 50 states and many foreign countries carrying the gospel.
He made his final evangelistic tour in the fall of 2015. While preaching a camp meeting in Blanchard, OK he met a beautiful young lady by the name of Edna Fern George, who played the piano and sang with her parents, the late Rev. Dovie and Lola George.
G.W. and Fern were married on October 5, 1950 and enjoyed 65 years of marriage. To this union was born two sons and one daughter (Junior, Lendell and Gayla.)
The Birdsong's ministry touched the lives of many, many people across the world.
Rev. L.D Moore was an Anointed Holiness Preacher. Rev.Moore traveled all over the country singing and preaching the gospel. Brother Moore got saved at the age of 17.
Brother Moore had a distinct style of preaching and was a great story teller. Bro. Moore would break into singing about anytime during the sermon. Bro. Moore preached with such a desire to see souls saved and lives changed! Some of his famous quotes are "You can make it if you try!" or " A quitter never wins, and a winner never quits". Bro. Moore was also the chairman of the board at Bristow Campmeeting for many years!.
Rev. L.D Moore went to be his Lord and Savior on September 13th 2011.
Bro. Moore may not be here on earth, but his legacy and his sermons live on for years to come!
Bro Bill Houston left this world on March 1st, 2018. He didn't die, no, he just began to live! Paul said in Philippians 1:21; for me to live is Christ, but to die is gain. Bro Bill gained heaven eternal that day. Bro Bill believed what he preached, so much so that he lived and died by it, leaving behind an example and a path which we all might follow. He was truly a great man of faith, conviction, and integrity. First known for his ability to sing, it didn't take long for folks to find out that this singer could preach too, and preach he did, even up to his last hours. He took the gospel all across this country with his good wife, Sis Darien, by his side. Loved by so many, he will be sorely missed by his family and all of those that came to know and love him.
Rev. Don Rich is one of the most valuable persons in our Holiness Movement.
His sermons are convicting. He has been a great example for our younger generations. Rev. Don Rich now lives in Oklahoma with his wife. Rev. Don rich has preached all over the country with revivals, camp meetings and special services. Rev.Don Rich is also working in missions.

Franklin Leon Buzzard was born on
June 27th ,1938, in Claremore, Oklahoma, to Franklin Falling and Mary Buzzard. Bro. Leon Buzzard was much more
excited about his second birth. Many of
you have heard the testimony. “On a cold
December night -Dec 22nd, 1950, at old
Butler #2 when God reached out and saved
a twelve-year-old Indian boy.” He told of
the man dressed in blue, with piercing blue
eyes and snow-white hair who came down
the aisle in that little schoolhouse revival
and beckoned him to the altar. After services, when he looked for the man to thank
him, no one else had seen that man.
That was the beginning of his walk with God.
Not long afterward, he fully dedicated his
life to the Lord, and received the Holy
Ghost and a call to preach. He began
preaching sometime around the age of 13
years old.
After walking with the Lord for over 54
years, preaching revivals, camp meetings, and pastoring eight
different churches, he received another beckoning call, this time
to come on home to receive his reward. On Friday afternoon,
May 20th, 2005, while resting at his earthly home in Oklahoma,
he answered that call.
Brother" Claude Ely (July 22, 1922 – May 7, 1978) was an American religious singer-songwriter and a Pentecostal Holiness preacher.
Brother Claude Daniel Ely, coined as the King Recording Label's "Gospel Ranger" of the Appalachian Mountains, was born in Pucketts Creek, Virginia. He was the first Pentecostal Holiness recording artist to be signed to a major recording label for strictly sacred music and songs.[1]
Receiving fame for his song "There Ain’t No Grave (Gonna Hold My Body Down)", Ely's musical style and spiritual influence still exist today among both secular and sacred music enthusiasts. Although Bozie Sturdivant was the first to record Brother Claude Ely's tune in 1941 with the help of the US Library of Congress' field recordings, Ely had written the song in 1934. King Records of Cincinnati helped Brother Claude Ely copyright the song in 1953. Many Hollywood entertainers and musical artists have acknowledged their admiration and fascination for Brother Claude Ely. Often music historians attest that other musical artists cite Brother Claude Ely as having been a positive influence on their works as well. Elvis' mother Gladys brought Elvis Presley to Ely's tent revivals.[2] Artists recording Brother Claude Ely's songs include Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash. Robert Duvall's self-produced movie entitled The Apostle also integrated Brother Claude Ely's music on its soundtrack.[1]
Ely pastored various churches in Kentucky, Virginia and the Cincinnati, Ohio area. Ely also hosted a radio program entitled "The Gospel Ranger Show", which aired across the southeastern portion of the United States. Many of Ely's religious followers and numerous admirers still exist today in the Appalachian mountains.[1]
Jack Coe was born in Oklahoma City in 1918, but was abandoned by his parents and raised in an orphanage where he stayed until he was aged 17. He joined the army during World War II, where he experienced a miraculous healing. Thereafter he became a minister and began conducting healing revivals while still a soldier. In early 1944 he was ordained an Assemblies of God minister.
His public ministry
He had a dynamic personality and stage presence and soon won the allegiance of thousands. He rented his first tent in 1947 and was an established evangelist when the healing revival broke in 1947. From then on his influential ministry career enjoyed a meteoric rise to national fame, placing Coe as a serious challenge to Oral Roberts as the popular leader of the revival.
Coe was a powerful preacher. His messages were peppered with humour, presented boldly and dynamic in their effect. Some found him too controversial and impulsive but thousands of people, both black and white, were attracted to his lovable and tender-hearted personality.
But it was his healing ministry that was the main attraction. He would walk down rows of wheelchairs and crutches commanding people to be healed and to walk normally. Not all did, but there were large numbers of afflicted who got out of their wheelchairs, threw their walking aids away, got up off their beds and walked out of the meeting healed.
Coe visited an Oral Roberts’ meeting, measured the Tulsa evangelist's tent, and then ordered one slightly larger. In July 1951, he announced that his tent was the largest gospel tent in the world, seating 22,000 people! Both the Coe and Roberts tents were larger than the Ringling Brothers big top. Coe’s public statements about his tent could be regarded as tinctured with a little pride. ‘I bought my present tent to accommodate the crowds attending my meetings. When evangelists make statements about the size of their tent, they could dispel much of the controversy by giving the actual length and width. Then people would not feel that someone was telling a lie or exaggerating. I'm not saying this to belittle or condemn some other evangelist, but many have claimed that we are exaggerating when others beside myself state that they have the world's largest tent. If they do have . . . I praise God for it! If they will write me, telling me the size of their tent . . . I will print this in formation in my magazine, admitting that mine is only the second or third largest.'
Asa Alonzo Allen was born in Sulphur Rock , Arkansas on March 27, 1911. He had a deeply unhappy childhood. His parents were alcoholic, his mother (a Cherokee Native American) was unfaithful and he grew up in dire poverty. His mother would put him to bed, as a baby, with alcohol in his bottle to keep him quiet. As a young boy AA would make some extra money by singing on the street corners. At the age of 14, feeling desperate to leave the misery of home behind, he ran away. He bummed rides, hopped freight trains, and did odd jobs.
In 1934 Allen drove by the Onward Methodist Church in Miller, Missouri and heard the sound of joyous singing. Curious he went into the meeting. A woman evangelist was preaching. He went to the meeting again the next night and committed his life to Christ. He began to turn his life around. There was no work where he was so he moved to Colorado to work on a ranch. He met a young woman named Lexie Scriven, and they were married in 1936. He also came into contact with Pentecostalism through a home meeting and bcame filled with the Spirit. Allen had a desire to preach the gospel that had changed him. He decided to become a minister and affiliated with the relatively new Assembly of God denomination. Allen would chop wood to make money and then travel to small towns to preach the gospel. This was the depression and offerings came in amounts of pennies at a time.
In 1936 he took a pastorate in Holly, Colorado a small town near the Kansas border. His first child had been born. Allen was officially ordained as an Assembly of God minister during his time there. During this pastorate, Allen fasted and prayed and God met him. He was given a list of thirteen things that would cause him to see the power of God in his ministry. Many of these items focused on total consecration to God and laying down sin. God told him if he did all of these things he would see healings and miracles.
He left the pastorate and began to hold meetings as a singing healing evangelist. In Missouri a coal miner who had been blind for several years was healed. Allen held meetings and was constantly on the road. This was a strain for Lexie and their four children. Income was not stable and the responsibility was wearing on her. In 1947 Allen accepted a call to pastor a church in Corpus Christi, Texas. He wanted to settle down and have a family life. The church blossomed. Allen had a vision for reaching more people. He wanted to start a radio ministry. The church turned him down and he was devastated. He realized, over time, the enemy had taken advantage of his hurt and attacked him
In 1949 the healing revival, notably led by William Branham, was making news. He was incredulous at first, but felt stirred to look into what was happening. He went to an Oral Roberts tent revival meeting. He realized as he watched what was happening that this was the ministry God had called him to. He had been unwilling to pay the price to see it, however. He resigned his pastorate, in 1950, and once again began holding evangelistic meetings. People would be healed in their seats as he preached. He also had his first article in the influential "Voice of Healing" magazine put out by Gordon Lindsay. He became a regular contributor to the magazine for the next few years.
In 1951 he bought his first tent. By 1953 he was on radio stations across the US, Mexico, Cuba, and Latin America. Allen was pulled over for drunk driving in Knoxville, Tennessee in 1955. Allen always said that someone had put something in his drink at the local restaurant to make him woozy and set him up. Rather than fight it Allen paid the fine so he could continue to his next meeting. The Assembly of God organization asked him to pull out of ministry for a while to clear up the issue. He felt that it was a play on their part to save their reputation. He resigned and continued the ministry. He also resigned from the "Voice of Healing" association.
Allen continued as an independent minister. He started his own magazine called "Miracle Magazine", which by the end of 1956 had over 200,000 subscribers. He began the Miracle Revival Fellowship aimed at ordaining ministers and supporting missions. He came under intense pressure and attack as other healing ministers began to pull back. He style, which was always aggressive, became increasingly flamboyant. As the healing movement became increasingly segmented he began to attack "denominationalism".
In 1958, Allen felt called to build a Bible school in Arizona. Someone donated 1250 acres of land near Palominos, which he dubbed Miracle Valley. He also began shifting from healing to a prosperity message. In 1960 he built a 4000 seat church on the land. In the 60's he and his wife separated and he became afflicted with arthritis. He was sued for $300,000 in back taxes. Still he pressed on with his ministry taking young evangelists with him to train them. In 1970 he wrote his autobiography titled Born to Lose, Bound to Win with co-author Walter Wagner.
Allen died on June 11, 1970 after flying to California to redo radio contracts and see a doctor about knee pain. He was using pain killers for the arthritis and there was alcohol in his blood. The coroner's preliminary finding was that Allen died of a heart attack, but he later changed the report to say that Allen was an alcoholic. Allen's family fiercely disputes that claim. Don Stewart, in his book "Only Believe", talks about his close association with Allen and gives his view of Allen's ministry. Paul Cunningham, who also traveled with Allen the last few years of his life steadfastly declared that suggestions that Allen was an alcoholic are lies and wrote a statement to that fact which he had certified in El Paso County (Colorado Springs), Colorado.
Pastor Richard Crayne, age 89, of Morristown, went to be with the Lord on Christmas Day, Friday, December 25, 2020 at his residence. He moved to Morristown in 1951 and was pastor of the same church, Pentecostal Assembly, until his death.
Rufus Jackson "Jack" Caraway, 75, of the Wallace Community in Santa Rosa County, Florida, entered the gates of Heaven on Friday, August 15, 2014. He was born on March 25, 1939, in Santa Rosa County. Jack graduated from Chumuckla High School in 1958. He grew up farming and continued to farm while also working at American Cyanamid. He retired from Cyanamid in 1994. Jack was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to hunt, fish, and work in his garden. He loved International Farmall tractors, vacationing in the mountains, and nothing was more precious to him than his wife and family. He was a member of the Chumuckla Community Church, and enjoyed participating on two mission trips to Peru and Costa Rica with the church's dental team.
Rev. Charles Barnett was born of the late Walter Barnett and Georgia Pentecost Barnett, on July 23, 1934 in Salem, Arkansas.
He was united in marriage November 29, 1952 in Salem, Arkansas to Mary Etta Morrison.
From 1957 to 1959 he served our country as a medic in the United States Army. Charles was called to preach in the spring of 1955. He traveled many miles over the next sixty-six years to preach the gospel and help others. During his ministry, he pastored the following churches, The “Y” of Gainesville, Missouri; Brandsville Pentecostal Mission of Brandsville, Missouri; Hilltop Holiness Church of Willow Springs, Missouri; Midway Pentecostal Church of Thayer, Missouri; Field Creek at Mammoth Springs, Arkansas; Lola Pentecostal Church of Lola, Kentucky, and Pentecostal Tabernacle of Richmond, Indiana. The past few years found him traveling to Poplar Bluff, Missouri to teach Sunday school and help start a new work with Brother Bobby Ryan.
Rev. Barnett passed away on August 24, 2021 in West Plains, Missouri.
Rev. Barnett will always be remembered for his dynamic sermons and overall personality.
Rev. Barnett will definitely be missed from many people of the Pentecostal Holiness Fellowship.
Rev. Ralph Cox was saved 21 days after he turned 21. (If you heard him preach more than once, you already knew that.) He completely surrendered his life to God and God used him to pastor churches and evangelize all over the USA.Bro. Ralph continued to preach and travel as much as he could. His home church was House of Prayer in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
He certainly left his mark on our
movement. In his day, His arm of
fellowship spanned east and west,
and pulled us together. He
introduced Oklahoma to Virginia.
Alabama to Oklahoma. He
crisscrossed the country telling the
good folks in the east about the good
folks in the west and the good folks
in the north about the good people in
the south. He tied us all together
with the cords of fellowship and so
many of us made some of our best
friends through Bro Ralph.

and beckoned him to the altar. After services, when he looked for the man to thank
him, no one else had seen that man. That
was the beginning of his walk with God.

Reverend Joey Hight’s ministry began on July 18, 1975, and soon after was invited to travel with evangelist Terry Bowling of Franklin, Ohio, during the summer to minister in music and song at various Youth Camps. It is from this invitation, that Reverend Hight’s ministry would develop into a full time evangelistic ministry, that included many churches, in many states, traveling many miles.
On April 2, 1977 he would marry Tricia Isaac of Fort Worth, Texas; their first home was a 1968 Holiday Rambler travel trailer. They began their first revival together in Idabel, Oklahoma and from that time forward, they saw their ministry blossom into a nationwide influence in the Holiness Pentecostal Fellowship. Over the years he preached at over 100 youth and adult camps. Reverend Hight was known for his illustrated sermons that captured the attention of the congregation. He was also known for his great talent playing the tenor saxophone, ministering to so many people over the years. To quote the Hight’s, “We are nothing now, nor were we something in the years past, except for the fact that God has HIS hand on our lives.” Their ministry, in years past, also included being a Youth Pastor and Pastors. Their first pastorate was at Florence Holiness church in Keller, Texas, then nine months as Youth Pastor at the Pentecostal Highway of Holiness Church in Hamilton, Ohio. Their next pastorate was in Jonesboro, Illinois, that lasted two years. For the past 25 years, they pastored the Calvary Pentecostal Tabernacle in West Plains, Missouri. During their pastorate, the Church saw many advances including a finishing of a multi-purpose building, evangelist apartment, Children’s Church, remodeling of the sanctuary and foyer, as well as purchase of additional property.
Pastor Hight loved his Church babies and children. He loved baby dedications and often titled his sermon, “The Gospel According to ….” and would insert the baby’s name. Pastor and Sister Hight were also very involved in the Ozark Holiness Youth Camp and Adult Camp. Pastor Hight was known for “walking guard” in those early morning hours at the Youth Camp.
Pastor Hight’s influence in the community involved having served as Chaplain with Ozarks Medical Center for ten years, as well as Chaplain to the West Plains Police and Fire Departments since 1995. He had a great love for the Emergency personnel of our City and County and was highly respected by the community.
Pastor Hight has left behind a great legacy of love for ministry, family values, and compassion for community.
