We were able to listen to Becca's story as she shared the Gospel Threads that God has weaved into her story of joy, freedom, and learning how to be His beloved.
We have two options: sow to the flesh, or sow to the Spirit. Ask yourself today, "sow what?"
What have you been freed from? What have you been freed to? How are you freed with? Are you living in freedom?
Would you rather be in a low place (a valley) with God or a comfortable place without Him?
How do we respond to the freedom found in the Gospel? Do we respond with antagonism, apathy, addition, or awe?
We concluded our series reading about the boldness of the Apostles in Acts 4. Looking at these acts of faith, how can we live lives where we are drawing closer to God and revealing His love to the world? By being with Jesus, being with community, and praying the dangerous prayer, "God, make me bold!"
We continued our Dangerous Prayers series as we ask God to "search our heart," based on Psalm 139. We pray this prayer because our own hearts are deceptive so we need God to search us and reveal any "grevious ways" within in us so that we can run to Him in repentance for true healing and restoration in a way that only He, our gracious and loving Father, can provide
We started 2024 with a series called "Dangerous Prayers" where we want to dream dangerous dreams and pray dangerous prayers. Why? Because safe, lukewarm lives do not draw us closer to God or help us reveal his love to the world.
We first looked at Mark 9 at the dangerous prayer by a desperate father when he says, "I believe; help my unbelief!"
This week we dove back into our Christmas series looking at the story of Joseph. We see how Joseph obeyed God no matter the cost and that every act of obedience to God takes us deeper into His story.
We started our Christmas series looking at the significance of Jesus' genealogy listed in Matthew 1. This passage points to Jesus as the Messiah and how He is the fulfillment of the Covenant made to David- the One who would rule and reign on David’s throne forever!
We dove deeper into our series this week of remembering our First Love. We saw that when there is an awakening, there is a hunger for more of God, the name of Jesus is highly praised, there is a revelation that Jesus is better, and there is opposition.
Without the empowering of the Holy Spirit, we simply have a lifeless, sterile, Christianity. This week we continued in our discussion on what it looks like for Christ-followers to live in response to God. We are called to simple responsiveness; a childlike obedience that says “yes, Lord” as we live a life that is empowered by the Holy Spirit!
This week Jon introduces a series called First Love. This first sermon in the series focuses on Revelation 2:1-7, a letter to the church in Ephesus. They had abandoned their fervent love for God. As a result, He issues a warning that the lampstand that represents the LIFE and HEALTH of their church will be removed. The light that burns is an expectancy that God will move in and through us. That He will walk among us.
This week in our series where we are looking how God uses the people we least expect, we examined the story of a sinful woman who was commended by Jesus for how much she loved Him because of how much He had forgiven.
This week we continued the series about how God uses the people we least expect throughout scripture. Young King Josiah is crowned king of Israel at just eight years of age. He is able to turn the hearts of Israel back to God through his humble example of seeking God.
Yesterday we started a new series about how God uses the people we least expect throughout scripture. We first looked at the story of Othniel and how Caleb passed down his stories of faith to the next generation.
We concluded our "You Are ___" series by examining how we live in, but don’t quite fit in as strangers in the world since "we have no lasting city, but seek the city that is to come."
We continued our series in 1 Peter 2 looking at how we are not only a people to be possessed by God, but treasured possessions. God treasures us and brings us to Himself, then he teaches us how to live in relationship with Him.
This week we looked through 1 Peter 2:9 and how we are a people for God's posession as "bondservants".
This Sunday we learned that we have an identity as priests and with that comes access and an assignment.
This Sunday Pastor Jon talked about our identity as a child of God. Everyone is a creation of God made in His image and He wants us to come running to Him.

This Sunday we wrapped up the Psalm 23 sermon series by talking about how God is the Good Host. His goodness and mercy is more than we can fathom.
Walking through valleys in live is inevitable but Christ promises that we don't walk through those valleys alone!

We kicked off the new year with a new series in Psalm 23! This Sunday we looked at Psalm 23:1, "'The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want," and what it means to "not want" in the Lord.

This is the second week of Advent, and the second week of our He Is series! This week we focused on how Jesus is love personified, showed how love is proven, and shows us how love is practiced.
This Sunday was the first Sunday of Advent and we kicked off a new sermon series! Each week we will be talking about who Christ is. This week we learned that He is Hope.
This Sunday we took a break from 2 Peter and learned about God's goodness in Psalm 34. We want everyone to taste and see God's goodness! Let's magnify His name together!
This Sunday we continued in our Knowing & Growing sermon series. We heard about a big warning from God to his people in 2 Peter.
This Sunday we all worshipped together in one service and heard from our Student Director, Caleb Jones! We got to hear a little bit about how God worked through the students and volunteers at Fall Camp and how to keep that fire going in our hearts as we continue to grow in our walk with the Lord.

This Sunday Pastor Jon taught from 2 Peter 1:12-15. We were encouraged to remember. Remember what God has done and recall it to the next generation.
This Sunday our Family and Impact Pastor, Tim Tullis, taught from 2 Peter 1:5:-11. We learned that we are beloved and because of that, we are called to make every effort to grow in grace, knowledge, and virtue.
This Sunday we began our study of 2 Peter with a call to GROW! God has given us everything we need! Now as we trust his "precious and very great promises," sin's grip loosens, our relationship with God deepens and our impact for his glory broadens!
Places are a part of our stories. Place is powerful. This Sunday we stood on a very significant place in the story of Two Rives and looked back at another place in the story of God's people.
This Sunday we wrapped up our sermon series, Saturate, and talked about how giving is a heart posture. God deserves our first and best!

This Sunday we celebrated Christmas in July and talked about the The life of George Bailey in the classic film, It's a Wonderful Life. We can relate to George. A life of doing the right thing in the midst of dreams, obstacles and setbacks. But what happens when our vision for life doesn't match our reality in life? We need perspective and we find it in Psalm 90.
May this perspective teach us to count the days and make the days count!
This Sunday our Family and Impact Pastor, Tim Tullis, taught on Psalm 67. God blesses us so that we might be a blessing to all peoples everywhere.
We all remember when Febreeze first came out, right? It smells great but at the end of the spray... it's just a cover-up! The problem is still there. This Sunday Pastor Jon taught out of Psalm 51. David was acquainted with the fallout from febreezing over sin as well as the fruit from coming clean!
This Sunday Colby Kaluzniak taught out of Psalm 13 and talked about David complaining and questioning the Lord.
This Sunday we started our new Psalms series for the summer and had Chris Jessen teach! We read from Psalm 16 and talked about growing closer to God while eliminating unnecessary distractions.
This Sunday we studied Revelation 21 and 22 and learned about what will be in the new Heaven and what will not be there. How sweet it is to know that everything will be made right and perfect as we worship God together in the new Heaven!
This Sunday we were back in Revelation talking about the Counterfeit Trinity and how the different beasts lead us away from God instead of to Him.
This Sunday we celebrated Mother's Day and Pastor Jon talked about planting seeds in your life. Plant seeds of truth, encouragement, and correction.
This Sunday our Family and Impact Pastor, Tim Tullis, talked about the power of prayer and how we are able to come to God with our prayers just the way we are. We don't have to be cleaned up or have the right words to say. God just wants us to come to Him.
This Sunday we jumped back into our Revelation series and read through Romans 12!
Through Christ we have the power to overcome the dragon!
This Sunday we celebrated Resurrection Sunday and unpacked all that is in Romans 8:31-39. We have hope because of Christ's death, burial, and resurrection and the good news is nothing can separate us from the love of Christ!
This Sunday our Family and Impact Pastor, Tim Tullis, taught on Romans 8:28-30.
"God is committed to you being conformed into the image of Jesus more than He's committed to your comfort."
This Sunday we pulled off the Romans 8 road and made a detour on the road up to Jerusalem.
We walked through Psalm 121, which is a Pilgrim Psalm, a Psalm of Ascent. These songs were sung by Jewish worshippers on the way up to Jerusalem at least twice a year.
The main theme of this Psalm is this: the LORD keeps you. He is your keeper.
And part of his keeping is connecting us to a caring church family so that we can keep one another from stumbling, despair, apathy and sin.
The Apostle Paul tells us that even though we are weak and in our weakness we don't even know what to pray - we have a Helper who is always praying...and His prayers are always answered!
In fact, we actually have TWO Divine Intercessors! The Son of God and the Spirit of God.
This Sunday Pastor Jon taught from Romans 8:18-25. The Apostle Paul puts our suffering into perspective by weighing it against our future glory. Then he helps us understand why things are so hard even for those of us who have been adopted into God's family.
This Sunday Pastor Jon taught from Romans 8:16-17.
Romans 8:16-17 give us a promise that is both spectacular and scary: We will receive an inheritance! There is another world beyond this one! But...we will have to suffer for it.
This Sunday Colby Kaluzniak preached from Romans 8:12-16. We have been adopted into Christ's family.
Is it enough to be His sons and daughters? Strip it all away, is it enough that he calls you child? Your identity as a child of God changes everything!
The Sunday Pastor Jon taught from of Romans 8:9-11. We learned that the Spirit of God gives you the power over the power of the flesh and the Spirit of God dwells in difficult people too.

In our flesh we are weak but in the Spirit we have life, peace, and the power to obey.

God has done what the law could never do when he sent his son, Jesus. Do you truly believe that He loves you?

We live in a cancel culture. A "you're dead to me" and "your past defines you" culture. Oh how sweet it is that Christ does not say this about us! There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus!
Have you ever found yourself looking around wondering... nobody saw that right? Or maybe you were looking around hoping... someone saw that right?!
You were looking for a witness. This Sunday Pastor Jon taught out of Revelation 11 and we were introduced to two witnesses who have an important role to play in the story of redemption.
This Sunday Pastor Jon talked about the Seven Trumpets and repentance. Christ's followers are marked by repentance. What is keeping you from repenting today?
This Sunday Pastor Jon taught out of Revelation 6. In Revelation 6 the Lamb begins to open the 7 seals on the scroll of history, and we meet the horsemen of the apocalypse. These forces are at odds with the Kingdom of God advancing, and they ride until Jesus returns. We need to recognize them and know how to fight them.
This Sunday Pastor Jon talked about beholding the throne of God! We are not on the throne, and that's a good thing! We can approach the throne with confidence. We can conquer the same way Jesus did: through sacrificial love.
This Sunday Pastor Jon talked about three threats facing the church and how we combat them!
This Sunday we continued in our Revelation series and talked about how God is in the middle of the present and in the future. Is Jesus in the center of my life? What am I afraid of right now?

This Sunday was a packed Sunday with 6 baptisms and celebrating all that has God done and sharing how thankful we are for his blessings and provision!

If we're going to say YES to living generously, we'll have to say NO to some of these appetites.
The secret ingredient is contentment.

How can we, who have more than we need, find the will to say "no" when technically, we can afford to say yes?
This Sunday Hunter Dees talked about giving first instead of last. Giving isn't law but the way we handle our money shows the condition of our hearts.
This Sunday we started a new sermon series called This Is What We Do. The idea behind this series is "This is what we do because of what God has already done."

We can impact the world around us by loving the people around us regardless of how they treat us, being with people, making peace, embracing others, and respecting people and their views.
This Sunday Pastor Jon talked about how Jesus radically transforms our life after we meet Him and we are never the same.
We become what we behold. What are you beholding? Who are you becoming?
This Sunday Pastor Jon talked about how we must fight against isolation because we need a caring family. Two Rivers is a caring family and as a caring family we love people genuinely. Romans 12:9-13 paints a picture of what this looks like. It’s a beautiful picture of how Christ has loved us.
This past Sunday we started a new sermon series called Living Our Mission. In this series, we will be breaking our mission statement down and and talking about what exactly our mission is as believers and what our mission is at Two Rivers Church.

This Sunday Pastor Jon talked about how Jesus came to serve and was the greatest servant.
The world says: Greatness is climbing to the top. Jesus says: Greatness is rushing to the bottom.
This Sunday Pastor Jon talked about how Jesus is the friend of sinners. The Jesus - the one who said he was THE Way, THE Truth and THE Life…is a friend. He is no imaginary friend. He is the kind of friend who might surprise you.
This Sunday ALL the kids were in the gym with us! We kicked off with a fun family game, dedicated two children, worshipped together, and then Pastor Jon got to share the good news about His treasure!
This Sunday we started a new series called The Jesus! In a culture that is all about "my truth" and "your truth"... "my Jesus" and your Jesus". Is my Jesus THE JESUS?
The book of Habakkuk is a beautiful example of tough honesty. He questions God and then has the nerve to question him again.
God is gracious to respond. And though everything continues to fall apart around Habakkuk, something happens, and he chooses to rejoice in the Lord.
This Sunday we learned about the prophet, Jonah! But the story of Jonah is more than a big fish story. Once we get past the Sunday School story and press into chapter 4, we find a great irony:
A wicked people respond to the grace of God…and God’s prophet is angry about it.
See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God; that no root of bitterness springs up and causes trouble, and by it many become defiled. - Hebrews 12:15
This Sunday Pastor Jon taught out of the book of Hosea.
Other than the death of Jesus, the book of Hosea may be the most stunning display of God's heart in the entire Bible! Through the book of Hosea we: See God's heart in the drama of Hosea's life Hear God's heart as he opens up and speaks through the prophet
This past Sunday one of our elders, David Dees, taught out of Daniel 10. We took a look at how Daniel's prayers were heard by God and how we can be encouraged that He hears us when we pray.
This Sunday one of our elders, Tyler Merchant, taught out of the book of Jeremiah. We were reminded that God calls us to do things that we might not feel ready for but God equips us along the way. As God equips us, we grow more in God.
In Isaiah 61, God uses a planting/gardening metaphor. He is planting "oaks of righteousness" to display His glory (v3), and He is causing "righteousness and praise" to sprout up (v11)!
Ask yourself: What is sprouting up in my life? What kind of seed have I been sowing into my life? And what have I been sowing into my family?
This Sunday Terry Schertzer taught out of the book of Isaiah. We learned about man's sin and how even though we always fall short, Jesus still died for us and wants us to come to Him!
This Sunday we looked at a moment in the life of the prophet Isaiah. When he came face to face with the Holy, Holy, Holy God of Glory, he suddenly became fully aware of his brokenness and it was the greatest gift he could receive.
This Sunday Pastor Jon taught out of the book of Ecclesiastes. Solomon thought that all kinds of earthly things would lead him to happiness, fulfillment, and satisfaction but it all fell flat...
This Sunday Pastor Jon talked about the power of words. Words are powerful so must grow to use them wisely. It is important to ask ourselves, are my words: True Helpful Inspiring Necessary Kind
This Sunday we were in 2 Kings where we saw what happens to God's people when they slowly allow sin to hang around, pretend that it's not a big deal, ignore people who've been sent to speak truth, and eventually grow numb to God's pursuit.
The results are devastating.
But...there is GOOD NEWS!
This Sunday the new Lead Pastor of Two Rivers Church Chattanooga, Jon Teague, was installed! We took time to pray for the Teague family and encourage them as they make this new transition!
This Sunday Pastor Jon taught out of Joshua 1 and Joshua 24.
Conviction leads to courage. Strength comes from resistance and challenge. The conquest of Canaan produces both in Joshua and at the end of the book he strongly and courageously challenges the people of Israel: - Choose this day whom you will serve... But as for ME and MY HOUSE, we will serve the LORD!
We have a choice to make.
This Sunday Pastor Jon taught out of Numbers 13.
Great things rarely come without challenge. Would you agree? Strong marriages. Respectful children. Successful businesses. Leading people.
But it's when we step into the challenge that we learn something about endurance, character and God's faithfulness. Or we can shrink back. Avoid the risk. Side-step the struggle...and possibly miss the very thing God wants to do in us and through us!
This is where we find the children of Israel in Numbers 13. Standing 20 miles south of Jerusalem, they are on the very brink of God's promise. But there are giants in the land...
This Sunday Pastor Chris walked us through Leviticus 1 and talked about the sacrifices that the people made to God during that time. We are not able to clean ourselves up and when we try to, it usually goes really wrong.
God wants a relationship with you today. Will you come to him just as you are and allow him to do a work in you?
This Sunday pastor Jon talked about how we are God's treasured possession even though there is nothing treasurable about us. We have a story with Him as we walk with Him.
Have you trusted Jesus Christ and his payment for your sin? Then you are a treasured possession!
This Sunday Pastor Chris talked about how God is a promise keeper. God is faithful even we are frail and fail.
God is faithful. God works according to His timetable. God always keeps his promises.
This Sunday Pastor Jon finished up the book of Genesis as we are going through the Eat This Book reading plan. He talked about Joseph and how God is faithful to his word. He also talked about that sometimes God's plan does not come without struggle.
This Sunday Pastor Chris talked about how what happened in Genesis 3 didn't stay in Genesis 3. What God has done for you is meant to be shared so it can spread. Share with our words. Our actions. Loving one another.
Have you ever thought about what you’d want YOUR last words to be?
We’ve seen it in movies. It’s that final scene in someone’s final moments where the final conversation takes place. They’re usually surrounded by loved ones who lean in to hear how a person punctuates his or her life. This week we looked at Jesus’ last words to his disciples in John 15. If they were his last words, they must have been important. So take a listen and lean in!
Our 2RC kids have been doing a great job every Sunday being in service with us, and we have loved it! This Sunday we took the morning to honor our kids with special worship, a story time, and a time to affirm what we see God doing in the lives of our kids. Then Pastor Jon gave a brief message to parents from Psalm 78.
Many of us are feeling the not-so-good product of quarantine- isolation. While we have no historical record of Jesus navigating a pandemic, he DID spend 40 days in the wilderness all by himself.
As we’ve all been WONDERING through the WILDERNESS these past several months, I wonder what lies the ENEMY has been whispering to YOU?
This Sunday, Pastor Chris talks about how we can detect these lies and confront them with truth.
