we just need to be human beings. making connections with others keeps us healthy. listen in
where are you on your path? do you look forward to the summer turning into fall? Or not so much. There is no wrong answer. There is an opportunity tho. Learning to be present in the moment can make a huge difference on how your day goes. acceptance is a big word. It doesn't mean you accept what is going on but that it is going on whether you like it or not. Letting go of expectations of what to accept can be a life changer.
This is just a start. I took a hard look at myself mostly after I talked to you. Found some interesting things about myself You never know
I know I usually am upbeat and share good things. but in this episode Im being very vulnerable, honest and a woman. The United States of America went back 50 years. Roe vs Wade is about a a woman to make decisions about her own body and reproductive life. Ive Never had an abortion and not sure what my decision would have been if I had been in a crisis in my life. The whole point is that women are being shackled AGAIN. and women are doing this to other women. of course its a political thing. I am learning more and more about this subject. if you are in a crisis please call your physician or planned parent hood to help you. The bottom line is abortions will happen no matter where a woman is or if they are legal or not. It's a point of safety at this time. That's all.
What is your take or understanding on Mental Health? Everyone has mental health and its not what you think it is. Every day life involves how you react or respond. In this episode I repeat again that I am a "reactor" (sounds nuclear doesn't it.!) vs a responder. My daily life involves practice with my meditation and breathing necklace. I didn't know what I was feeling was anxiety. Mostly just apprehension or trying to be in control of others. It wasn't them, it was me. Listen in
NOTE". I changed the date. I have wanting to do my part to help my fellow compadres in the healthcare field. We all have taken a hit. I really want a shout out to all who have stayed the time and worked relentlessly even when you didn't want to. Please seek a therapist or someone you trust if you find yourself in a greater need. Love you all Jan
Its also Colorrecetal cancer awareness month. Kim and I discuss the journey her husband has gone thru. Hopefully to those listening, we can help prevent that, Along with it being Womens Health and Wellness month, once again I encourage you to just take a walk, Walking especially outside, clears your mind and really separates what is important to you and what doesn't matter. try it. it work
I know I said in the beginning of this episode. "how is your summer going". Im putting the cart in front of the horse here. I think I really really wanted it to be summer. In the long run I don't want to hurry it along. I came to the realization that when we want something that is in the future, we aren't partaking in the present. And wanting the future is asking for others lives to change really quick. sometimes we just need to be where we are. If by wanting it to be Friday for instance I might hasten something bad that will happen. It really doesn't matter as time is time and it won't happen anyways unless we live in a distopian world.
I had a great opportunity to share my weds walk with Jan and Pepper with my good friend Stacey. We met while we both worked together at a hospital then she moved up the ladder. I also became her Optavia coach but most importantly we became friends. We share the love of helping people along with having dogs to walk with. Stacey became a mother for the 2nd time and remember what it was like to not get sleep. listen in and see if anything resonates with you.
I usually am really upbeat and true to myself. For some reason this time I felt compelled to share about how hard December is. My husband Kent and I have lost both mothers, and my Dad in the month of December. At least it wasn't all in the same year! I wouldn't be writing this let me tell you! So I have a slight meltdown. but it ok. We always seem to show the best of ourselves and not our vulnerability. Listen in.
My data was going wonky when I was recording. Actually I couldn't even find the go live button. Normally I would have practically thrown my phone down on the ground and stomp it into the ground. Ok, would that make sense? No. Thats your amygdala in your brain causing you to react instead of respond. Ok this would be extreme and not on the flight or fight realm but you get my drift. It would have been an expensive huge mistake. It wasn't my phones fault. Or mine. I just said, Ok Ill do it later. Granted I wasn't on a time line. I took a breath, googled what to do, did it and went live. I didn't stress about it. Why? I meditate. And it works. Listen in.
What if you could change your whole life just by becoming aware of your breath. You could be in charge of yourself and not be a person who reacts immediate and say the wrong thing. I know, cause I've been there. Im still a work in progress but I have come a long way. My focus is better and my sleep is way better! The audio is from a video I made so follow along. Ive got a lot more to do and share!
Is a friend always a friend even if you can't see them? For me yes. I have friends that I don't see that often but I know when I do it was like it was yesterday.
I am a long time learner and I imagine most of you are too. I read a lot, I listen a lot. One of the common themes I find is the thought process of "I am not enough". Oh the comparison to others and our "perception" of their success and the way they present themselves on social media or maybe even in real life! I have found out that my own life mirrors the same perception. I don't put out there how I really feel or what all is really going on in my life. No one wants to hear about the atrocities of another. We actually want to hear good stuff. But also in reality we have this secret side that we don't add up compared to others. I see happy people posting and think "wow, they are happy ALL the time". Well probably not. And in this episode, I even talk about how perceptions of growing up creates a facade of who we are today! Maybe you can relate.
Not mad, but RAD! Yes I got a new electric bike that is called RAD and I love it! But I also find being RAD in my life as is. Im finding joy in the small things and pursuing them. Yes like riding a cool bike. Im investing in myself. We have a hard time doing this as we perceive that its selfish. Actually if you have these thoughts about others who you think have it all (and you know you do) you look down on them as being lucky, and everything handed to them. More than likely that is not the case. For instance I quit drinking alcohol 2 years ago. Having black outs was not fun. The addiction was short lived every time I took a drink. It was my rock bottom (finally!) that I didn't want to live that way anymore. I made the choice and the decision. Yes it was scary because it was my identity. Not the black outs but the voice and life recognition I let the world see was I loved wine. I would get memes on Facebook about wine. At one time it was ok because I didn't have a problem. When that changed for me, I let others know about my choice as it make me accountable. Scary again right! But a world away from that person to whom I am now. Here's the down and dirty. I saved enough money to buy our bikes. Kent has really slowed down to and that is so important for his health and finances. Win Win! Listen in on todays podcast Whats in your liver!?
Ok, crazy topic or what! In this episode I explore what can happen if you are disconnected from the outside world. In this case on purpose where Kent and I went camping (glamping) and wound up envisioning a crime! Listen!
It doesn't matter what your "faith" is. Something that you look to or feel is bigger than you and that supports you. Supporting means in times of joy, happiness, sorrow, and pain. It's your go to for you. I like to look at it as the Universe. Im Buddhist by choice and for me, it just makes sense. Use this time to start on your journey for love an connection to you and for you.
I talk about being on a kayak in the middle of a windy, wavy lake. I had my husband next to me or at least within eye sight. I asked the universe to bring down the wind. That didn't work LOL, so I asked to be kept safe to get to shore. That apparently worked!!
We all look forward to retirement. But is it because you are tired, can't work, sick, or numerous other maladies? I want to retire because I have so much to do and live for. My mom didn't make it to 55. I'm 60 now and don't plan on slowing down! Think about where you want to be in a few years or 10 or 30!
Yes, we actually all in the long run have accountability. Even if we don't know it. Like paying your bills on time! Yikes. But I am talking about with each other. And our health
We want to live a long time which sounds about right. But how? My friend Kim has a grandmother whois 102! How cool is that! Does health have anything to do with it. Listen and find out!
Sometimes we don't know what we don't know. Ive heard this so many times on the Dr. Phil show. Makes sense. It's like an "aha" moment when we get told "hey you got toilet paper on your shoe". Ew!! You didn't know that and so good (hopefully in due time) that someone told you this. Life changing. aka no embarrassment. So in todays episode I talk about how your surroundings determine ALOT in your life.
Last week I talked about taking up space in the world or in your little part of it anyways. What we say, and do can be a butterfly affect. This week I fell in love with the word "intuition". I'm a book snob and read a lot. Sometimes what I decide to read has some words that I never knew would resonate with me. I have also become very curious instead of "closed minded" which I didn't even know I was until I took that first step. That first step was me. Intuition is that "knowing" that part of you really loves you and is there for you. But we let it go out the window because there is so much more out there that is fun like juicy fat hamburgers that ooze with secret sauce. But then it's over. We feel miserable afterwards. What if we just followed what we thought was right?
I wasn't planned. In other words, my mom got pregnant in 1960 unwed. I was born in 1961. My dad married my mom per her request so she would at least have a name for me. So long story short. I grew up without a father figure. She never remarried. So I never saw myself taking up space. I never had the the upbringing that I was enough. Just didn't have that remembrance of life. My mom died at age 54 and I was 31. I wish I could have asked her more questions. But for now I know Im meant to be here. And you are too.
What is your purpose on this earth? Have you found it yet? Hey it's ok. I had a post on my Facebook page that had over 30 shares. for me that was a lot. It was all about "there is no timeline. You can be an author at age 70, you can write your first book at age 40. You don't have to be successful at age 21. Failure is just another word for "that didn't work". This is my first episode.
