Hear, O Lord, the prayer which we offer you,

made worthy by the intercession

of your faithful servant

and our protection St. Nicholas

whose witness during life on earth

was pleasing to you as his prayer is now in heaven.

We recognize our weaknesses and our sins,

but we trust in the fraternal aid of St. Nicholas

whom you, O Lord, wished to raise up

in our midst as a sign and instrument of your providence.

Sustain us with your prayer,

O St. Nicholas, and do not abandon us,

because we who invoke you as protector

know that in you we have a valid model of Christian life,

and a powerful incentive for advancing in goodness and virtue.

We desire to have, O St. Nicholas,

your faith, your hope and your charity in order

to be more grateful to the Lord and worthier

to be heard, but finding ourselves so poor we trust

in the infinite goodness and mercy

of the Lord obtained for us

by your powerful intercession.

Amen…

Faithful God,

light of all hearts,

we praise you for St. Monica,

woman of living faith and reconciling love.

She nursed her son, St. Augustine,

in the name of Jesus,

and urged him tirelessly to a Christian way of life.

In answer to her prayers

for St. Augustine’s conversion,

you gave her greater joy than

all hear tears had dared to ask.

Through the intercession

of St. Monica, we ask you to hear our prayers.

As you once captivated the heart of St. Augustine,

so now draw our hearts to you,

beauty ever ancient, ever new.

Amen.

PERPETUAL NOVENA IN HONOR OF JESUS CHRIST “ECCE HOMO”

Lord Jesus Christ,

true God and true Man,

our first parents Adam and Eve

disobeyed the will of the Father

and so sin and death entered the world.

By your obedience to the will of the Father,

you willingly underwent your Passion and Death

for the salvation of Mankind

and through your glorious Resurrection

has accomplished our redemption.

As we make this Novena,

we remember the many sufferings you have endured for us.

We particularly recall the humiliations

you endured when Pilate abandoned you to the crowd by saying:

“Ecce Homo: Behold the Man you are demanding to be crucified,

I wash my hands of this man’s blood.”

Pilate handed you over to the crowd

even though he knew that you were innocent

and washed his hands to absolve himself of your blood.

Grant O Lord, that amidst the many uncertainties

of our life on earth, we may be courageous enough

to stand for what is true and just in our society.

Through your Most Holy Passion,

we beseech you to grant us the graces we need this day.

Through your Most Holy Wounds,

heal us of all our infirmities and give us health of mind,

body and soul and through your Most Glorious Passion,

bring us all to the joys of Paradise.

Amen.

In our 2nd episode of OSApan - Kwentuhang Augustinian, Fr. Aimark, Fray Ronnel and Shiela are joined with Fr. Ericson Borre, OSA to share with us the first 100 years of the Augustinians in the Philippines since their arrival in 1565 through the Legazpi-Urdaneta expedition.

It is exciting to hear from our guest the daily life of the Augustinians on how they struggled to spread the Gospel far from their homeland, Spain. Historical records commonly narrate the achievements and mission of the Augustinians but less is known on how they continue to live out their charism. One of the interesting facts is that a friar has to profess the 4th vow aside from the vows of chastity, poverty and obedience. Discover the 4th vow and many more new knowledge on the Augustinians in the Philippines by listening to this podcast.
