The Lost Self: Childhood Roots of Codependency
The lost self - childhood roots of Codependency. The lost self in Codependency is not as profound or complete of a lost self as it is in Borderline Personality Disorder. To a lessor degree this is a partial over-lap with BPD but not enough to mean you have BPD. Codependency has its roots in childhood. It is what turns out to be in adulthood, a maladaptive reality that was adaptive and help you to survive adverse experience or trauma in your childhood.

Struggling to Know Self Through a BPD Partner
Codependency presents the struggle to know "self" through a BPD Partner and/or Ex. This is the Codependent part of the Trauma Bond. People with Codependency are repeating their own childhood woundedness, often unconsciously, in these toxic relationships. It just isn't all about the person with Borderline Personality. You need to become more consciously aware of your own choices and get into therapy to break the trauma bond and stop abandoning yourself.

People with Codependency, more often than not, re-enact core childhood woundness from Family Sytems in Family of Origin in adulthood with people with BPD or NPD especially in significant other relationships. You need to focus on you now and your patterns and what you need to heal not continue to focus on a Borderline or a Narcissist and recycling relationship breakups with them which is only you repeating your multi-layered trauma and increasing your pain and loss of self.
