Sixty Year Old Student: Recent Episodes

I'm just getting started !!!After a major upheaval in life, I put a rucksack on my back and walked 615 km to Santiago de Compostella looking for an answer to the big question, "What next?". Now I am at University reading Theology, Philosophy and Ethics. I live in student accommodation and have a part-time job at the local Cathedral. I couldn't be happier and truly feel like (at the ripe old age of sixty) I'm just getting started.
Join me on my journey and maybe you can teach me a thing or two about life, too.
It's been a while but with 3 months to go, I thought I had better check in with my listener and say hello.
The year started with a bit of a panic over the remaining time available and the amount of work to do but all seems viable and
I invited a nice student from China to come and share her experience of studying in the UK.

Today I have a little reflection and a few thoughts on Freewill. It's all my own work but is based on the bibliography below, with especial reference to Chapter 8 of Roger Scruton's book Philosophy: Principles and Problems.
I also want to feature the amazing book Entangled Life by Merlin Sheldrake. I'm only 113 pages in as I write but boy it is a game changer and I focus on his discourse thus far on identity. What does it mean to be an individual when we are ecosystems hosting tens of trillions of microbes.

Hi, this week I reflect on 3 N's. Needs Neurons and Nothing,
things I learned in my foundation year that have been of value in further discourses and reflection.
Firstly the hierarchy of needs in the species of perpetually wanting humans, secondly how neural circuitry can be rewired to change fixed mindsets, and lastly my favourite subject of why there is something rather than nothing. What is nothing?
