🤔 Brace yourselves for an epic showdown in this episode of Better Than Yesterday! We dive headfirst into the age-old debate on whether practicing humility and staying humble is the key to success or if a dash of pride, arrogance, and being a bit cocky can propel you even further.🌟 Join our hosts as they dissect the pros and cons of embracing humility. Or is there merit in taking pride in your achievements, standing tall, and confidently asserting your worth?🔍 In this riveting discussion, we explore the dynamics of humility, its impact on relationships, and how it shapes your character. On the flip side, we unravel the potential benefits of exuding confidence, self-assuredness, and a hint of arrogance. I was privileged to have a conversation with Deodat Beukes on the modeling and pageantry industry for males globally. We specifically talked about how these industries are perceived in Namibia. Our conversation also revolved around faith, a personal relationship with God, mental health and love. It was interesting to pick Deodat’s brain and hear his personal journey regarding these topics. It’s awesome to see such an Godly, inspirational young man doing his thing. As a upcoming social influencer, artist, and model in Namibia, Deodat is working and consistently to make a positive impact. One's social muscle is often overlooked, and neglected. In this episode I discuss why it is important to prioritize the development of your social muscle, as much as we develop say our physical body, or even our brain and knowledge. I believe this is important as many young people I see around me each day have underdeveloped social skills. This is understandable as the culture and society we live in today does not emphasize one-on-one social interaction. The amount of opportunities and connections that you gain by developing the social muscle is by far worth it to meet new people and make new friends. Many people turn down opportunities to develop their social muscle because they feel it would be awkward or uncomfortable. I hope by listening to or watching this you will feel inspired to put some work into developing your social skills.Studies referenced: K. Being a Youth Leader at Church has been one of the most rewarding things Ive done in my life. I have learnt alot over the past 3+ years of leading youth at my local church. Transitioning from being a member of the youth for many years and being led by others, and now being blessed with the opportunity to lead myself. I have learnt some very valuable life lessons, which is why I wanted to make a video today about what has stuck with me from the last few years, and has allowed me to continue to be a youth leader for as long as I have. These are values passed down to me from others around me who have spent many years in youth leadership. These values can be applied to your life to help you when you find yourself in situations that require leadership, or if you have any desire to carry influence. For many years now it has been one of my goals to be someone who has influence over others in a positive manner. I have tried to follow this out through my position as a youth leader at my church, as well as here through this community called Better Than Yesterday. Some of the lessons learnt include being consistent, building relationships, providing energy, the WHY of Youth Leadership, the importance of being genuine, carrying influence and the responsibility you carry as a youth leader. Please do leave a comment of your thoughts and opinions! In the society we live in today masculinity is looked down on. There is many factors that come into play which influence this outlook, a reason could be because of the various negative examples set men we looked up to or still do. Though when we zoom in on what genuine masculinity is supposed to be, we can realize that these men don't portray the characteristics of a real man. I'm the video today I discuss the example of Daniel from the Bible and explain the importance of taking responsibility as a character of genuine masculinity. If you enjoyed today's video and found it interesting. I would like to hear your opinion and topics you'd like to focus on for the next video. Have you ever thought back to when you were younger, and how creative we once were? The world around you no longer encourages you to be creative, but rather encourages you to keep consuming, and keep buying. We are being made into the perfect consumer. The fact is, you cannot be at your creative best, when you are too busy consuming content for hours a day. We are always filling up every empty second with dopamine supplied from social media like instagram, tiktok, twitter, youtube, and netflix. There is nothing wrong with occasionally enjoying watching some content, but the issue comes when we are unable to be bored, and simply have to keep consuming.
This is a topic that I have become quite passionate about when I realized how constantly consuming makes one unable to create. When you allow yourself to be bored is when you come up with new ideas and are able to create art, music, drama, content and stories. We need to stop consuming in such massive quantities and start to consume more meaningful art. This way we will enable our creativity to shine once again. Thank you so much for joining the conversation, please do consider liking this episode if you did enjoy it, and subscribing to Better Than Yesterday! Time management and procrastinating. Probably a student's two greatest struggles while endeavoring for their qualification. In this episode of Better than Yesterday, I discuss what i have learnt over the past three years of being a student about managing one's time effectively. Not only am I studying, but I am involved in many extra activities such as running this youtube channel, having a part time job etc, and I have definitely gotten much better at managing my time by implementing the six tips I have mentioned in this video.
Balancing one's student life, and everything else that life has to throw can be very tricky, especially when we fall prey to constant procrastination. This discussion will hopefully provide you with some valuable methods of managing your time effectively - to get more done in the same amount of time. If you enjoyed this episode please consider sharing it with a friend who you think needs to hear it. “The end of 1STMAN” as a figure in self improvement, most of you might have heard of 1stman. So, what came to mind when you saw this video title? Here at BTY Michael and I were in shock when we came across this video. We have taken plenty of inspiration from Kris and can only thank him for all his contributions to the self improvement sphere.
Therefore we decided to share our reactions and thoughts to the video. He had really insightful information to share about what is currently happening in the male self improvement industry. Thoughts on how opportunists are forming a negative image of the industry because of hypocritical advice being given to young men. This is to profit off the current algorithm.
As a self improvement YouTube channel, we will try to carry on what 1stman has done and work hard to give self improvement the positive reputation that it deserves.

All of us have an Ego within us. It is something that needs to be constantly managed, otherwise it can lead to us becoming delusional. Which can hurt oneself and the people around us. Therefore, reading Ego is the Enemy can only be of benefit to ourselves.
In the video I give an overview of what the book is about and explain how many people who rose to success. Could not remain there because of how their mindset changed due to their egos.

A stagnant person can be referred to one without recent growth or change. Many of us have been in a place of stagnation during our lives. While in this phase we ask ourselves, how do I move past this? In this episode Michael and I discuss how to stop being stagnant and begin to move forward again.
It's natural to find oneself in a place of no growth or change, but one does not have to remain there long. When you become aware of the situation. It means that intentional choices should be made to get out of one’s comfort zone, focus is regained and one remembers their purpose. These are but a few ways of moving past stagnation highlighted in the video. Thus when one applies the knowledge gained in the video change is inevitable.

Achieving financial freedom. Everyone wants it, but how does one actually get there? In this episode, Daniel and I discuss what young people heading into their 20's or currently in their 20's can do to establish a level of financial literacy. What this does is equips one with the knowledge and wisdom to make the right decisions that lead to financial freedom.
When leaving university, society pressures us to fall in line and become a part of the rat race. We discussed how to avoid this trap by educating oneself, applying discipline, accumulating lump sums, taking risks, and avoiding debt. If you are the type of young person that wants a life that looks different from what we see on television and mainstream media, then you are in the right place. Growing up in this era we as young men are exposed to different ways in which we can live our lives. Therefore we have opportunity to choose which lifestyle we want to live, one that is going to fulfill us. Having this in mind, it was important to discuss our viewpoint on the different lifestyles, like living more traditionally, being a successful playboy, a traveler and many others. Becoming aware of the positives and negatives of these paths, helps one to choose which path they’ll go along.
In this second part of our discussion we spoke about lifestyles of pursuing God through the church, pursuing Excitement through partying and going out, and pursuing comfort by staying at home and gaming and watching anime.

Ryan Holiday's book 'Courage is Calling' is the first of his Stoic Virtue Series that goes over the four fundamental virtues. 'Courage is Calling' outlines how to overcome fear and become someone who has courage at their disposal. This is another episode of the BTY book club where we discuss books that are of interest to us, and hopefully to you. Ryan Holiday is a modern day Stoic philosopher and owner of the youtube channel called the Daily Stoic. His books on stoicism are world renowned, and since I love his channel and podcast so much - I wanted to delve deeper and give his books a read. I gave my thoughts on the book in this episode, and I hope you enjoyed listening, and decide for yourself if Courage is Calling is the book for you. Let us know of any books you recommend for us to read and review on the channel next time. Much Love and Sincerely, BTY
As a young person thinking too far ahead can confuse one. Fresh out of high school, our expectations are often high as we have this new chapter of life to explore! Soon after life can teach us some tough lessons as we realize that it takes time to build oneself up. Daniel and I discussed in today's episode where our expectations were a couple of years ago and wether or not those expectations were realistic or not. When comparing oneself to others, it can be easy to fall into the trap of thinking that you must be successful very early on in your life. We debated wether this is a good stance to take, and if not where should you set your expectations. If you enjoyed this video, please consider leaving a like and subscribing to our channel. We had the privilege of interviewing the co-founders of Art of Passion Apparel - A sportswear and casual clothing brand located right here in the Mother City. It was established in 2016 by Gerald Dube the Co-Founder. After having a few struggles navigating through teenage hood he got tired of being around negative crowds. The AOPA brand stands for Unity and Positive change. It aims to inspire people from all walks of life to become united. It also aims to inspire individuality and embracing our roots. This is what “sui generis” stands for, being of your own kind, in a class of your own, therefore we are all unique. We decided to interview Gerald and Takunda (a.k.a. risky) to find out how they started a successful clothing brand and business. We had a fantastic discussion all about what it takes to start a business- sourcing materials, networking, marketing and more. We spoke about what the brand stands for - pursuing your passion. Gerald and Risky spoke about their passions, how they found them and how long it took. We also spoke about the difference between your passion and your purpose. Wholistic self improvement is bettering every aspect of your life. Why would you do this? To make your life easier. There are 4 layers to self improvement which I discuss in this video. In order to go from who you are right now to who you could be, these layers need to be tackled one after the other. The first layer being the fundamentals - improving one's mental and physical health. The second layer relates to how you interact with the world around you - your career, your relationships, your social skills. The third layer of self improvement is adding some real quality to your character, improving your hobbies, body language, attention span, becoming a generalist. The 4th layer of self improvement is like adding the cherry on top, and completing your journey. At any point in our lives we are able to improve, and it is our philosophy on this channel to constantly aim to be better than yesterday. Wholistic self improvement is a journey that never ends, and provides purpose and meaning for your life. If you know someone who needs to get on self improvement, send them this video. Let us know which layer you are currently working on, and consider leaving a like and subscribing for more content from Better than Yesterday.Sincerely,BTY
Self-talk is the way you talk to yourself, or your inner voice. You might not be aware that you're doing it, but you almost certainly are. This inner voice combines conscious thoughts with inbuilt beliefs and biases to create an internal monologue throughout the day.In today’s video I will therefore discuss why we have to be aware of self-talk and how it impacts our daily lives. From how we feel and what we do. I will talk about the effects both positive and negative self-talk has on us. As well the tips to improve positive self-talk and reduce the negative. All of us have people we look up to whether we know them personally or through our screens. People like Michael B. Jordan contribute to our lives in a meaningful way therefore enabling us to being positively motivated by them. That’s why Michael and I here at BTY decided to start this new series - BTY Icons - where we take a deep dive into the lives of certain individuals. We look at what they had to overcome to reach their success, what we can learn from them and apply in our personal lives. Looking at Michael B. Jordan’s life, we see how he practiced patience, self-determination, self - belief and grit throughout his life. The actor well-known for his roles in Black Panther and Creed, used his adversities as fuel to better himself instead of being succumbed by them. We looked at how he faced and overcame bullying in his high school career, how he improved his physique from being skinny to extremely muscular and even how he has handled the breakup from Lori Harvey. He has gone on to achieve incredible success not only playing the lead role, but directing the new 'Creed III' movie. Michael B. Jordan is someone we can learn from and look up to as young people looking to reach success. We are excited for this new series because here we can witness how self improvement is practically implemented and the results it harnesses. If you have enjoyed this video and found value out of it, make sure to subscribe, like and let us know in the comments which Icon we should look at next. Being a Generalist when it comes to your everyday life can be your greatest asset. Generalism focuses on improving yourself to a good level of knowledge or competency in multiple different areas as opposed to just one. Being a Generalist is something I have been working on for years now, and has allowed me to become a much better conversationalist as well as to make meaningful connections with various different types of people which has come in handy at so many points in my life. In this episode I discussed what it means to be a generalist as well as how you can go about becoming a generalist.
Some of the inspiration for this video is the show on Netflix called Physical:100. Where elite athletes are put to the test against eah other to see who will overcome many different physical challenges. After watching that show i realized something that it is better to be at a high level in many different areas, than just to specialize in one. 1stman on youtube was also an inspiration for this video, with his idea of the straight 7 system, which talks about reaching a 7/10 in many different areas of your life - which leads to you being an overall 10/10. For some more reading on Generalism - read this article: https://www.forbes.com/sites/forbesbu...

During our life there is we have easy and different times. Which are never totally in our control and that is okay. It is part of life and we should accept that. Instead of fighting against a certain stage of your life, thinking the world is out to get you. You should embrace that time in your life and grow through it. Doing this will allow you to learning the most out of the winning, warring, resting and waiting seasons of your life. You will also realize that each season comes to an end and is never permanent. These are the stages I discussed in today’s episode. I hope you gain value out of this episode. If you did be sure to like, comment and subscribe. Much love BTY
To be at your most productive requires consistent upkeep of oneself. This encompasses mental health as well as exercising, reading, journaling, meditating, keeping your environment clean and neat, and keeping a close relationship with God. In this episode I discussed the 4 keys that you need to keep in place to be at your most productive self. Productivity is an essential part of feeling motivated and on one's purpose, and as I myself am starting to get back into the routine for the year with university and work starting back up again, as well as hitting the gym on a consistent basis - It is important to brush up on these 4 keys for being at one's most productive state. I have found over the last few years that when I do these 4 things, I am able to sustain being productive for so much longer. I also spoke about countering procrastination and procrastinating. If you enjoyed this episode, please consider liking and subscribing to Better than Yesterday. Sincerely, BTY
How applying minimalism as a tool in your life can be beneficial. This mindset has many benefits to it, as one finds peace in a culture where buying the latest gadget, car or item is celebrated. You can find satisfaction in the necessities of living. Which allows you the time and freedom to pursue what matters and is valuable. This will help you to lead a purposeful life. Rather than chasing for happiness within quantity you can find a lasting happiness in quality. Therefore applying the principles of minimalism in your life will help you to be content with knowing that what you have is all you need. If you enjoy this type of content and have topics you’d like us to discuss. Leave a comment, like and subscribe for more of it.

Nihilism is an apathetic outlook to life that places no responsibility on yourself and allows you to hate on the rest of the world while none of the blame falls on your shoulders. Its a mindset that I once had - which is why I wanted to record this video to warn any and all young people against settling into such a mindset. It is so much better to focus on whats important and being positive in this world. To be a nihilist means that you believe tat nothing has value, an outlook that stems very much from atheistic views. In opposition to this is the religious and christian outlook that everything does inherently have value, because it was designed by a creator. Not every atheist is a nihilist, and even christians like myself can fall into this dangerous mindset. Therefore, I hope that after watching this video, you will be encouraged to leave nihilism behind and move forwards toward a more positive mindset that will lead toward you taking on more responsibility, and making the world a better place. Please let us know any thoughts in the comments below, and if you enjoyed please consider leaving a like and subscribing to the channel. Sincerely, BTY
To be goal driven is always seen as something to aspire to be, but is there a better way to go about achieving the growth we wish to see in our lives? Daniel and I discuss in this video the differences between setting goals and putting systems in place to achieve your goals. With the new year that has just arrived, it is important to start thinking about how we can develop a lifestyle that encourages productivity. Being goal driven often leads to one focusing on the outcome, and does not incentivize action. Having a system in place sets one up for long term growth in the area. We hope that this conversation allows you to put systems into place that will push you forward to your goals. This is another episode of our wrestling with topics series where we tackle concepts that are well established in society and look at them from all the angles to get to the bottom of what the truth is. This channel focuses on wholistic self improvement, and investing for young people in our home countries of South Africa and Namibia, as well as globally. This episode continues our podcast and listenable style of video where we have conversations and really go into depth with topics. We at BTY are excited to make so much content this coming year, and to take this community and platform to the next level! Please let us know what your goals are for 2023! We'll see you in the next one, and much love, Sincerely, BTY
Want to learn how to be more confident in 2023? Confidence is a tool that will open so many doors for you, but it is not something one can fake or merely turn on and off. Confidence has to be built up through positive past experiences and inner self growth and acceptance. Daniel and I are two people who really used to struggle with having confidence. We decided this was something we wanted to change and then implemented and practiced out all of these tips that have allowed us to become more confident people. Becoming more confident was for myself, the first step of starting self improvement, and when I began a journey to becoming more confident, My life was changed in a much bigger way than i could have thought, and so much for the better. What does a confident person look like? In this video we discuss the body language and changes in behavioral patterns that are a result of being more confident. This video will educate you not only on how to inflate your ego for a couple of days but rather how to build up your confidence in a sustainable way. We here at Better than Yesterday really hope you enjoy this video, we have been trying a few new things and decided to really put some more effort into the editing of this video. This channel was started a year and a half ago, with the aim of helping young people to be better than who you were yesterday. A focus on wholistic self improvement, as well as investing and daily growth for young people. Our videos followed the long format podcast style videos of youtubers such as 1stman and Hamza, Hamza Unfiltered. We really enjoy making this kind of content as it allows us to speak our mind and really delve deep into a topic, however we decided to try a new format with this video that includes more editing, in the style of an Iman Gadzhi or a Captain Sinbad. Our main goal is only to take inspiration from these creators, and give our own spin on the content which is brought to you by your two hosts, Michael and Daniel. Please let us know in the comments if confidence is something you struggle with and if so, please feel free to ask us any questions on how to overcome this, and be confident and free in yourself. In this video, some music from Artlist.io was used in the transitional phases of the video. We have the free artlist account which allowed us to use this music in a watermarked way. Happiest of New Years from BTY to you this 2023, and this is only the start of an amazing line of content that is coming your way this year. Consider subscribing and liking if you would like to see more content from us, and we'll see you the next one. Much Love, Sincerely, BTY.
Hello and Welcome to Better than Yesterday! Today, Daniel and I are here to discuss how to make the right financial decisions in your 20's. This is such an important and pivotal decade in one's life that Daniel and I are currently navigating through, and we wanted to share the advice and lessons we have gained from our experiences so far, as well as from research we have done on the topic. It is important to start investing from a young age into the right sort of assets. We spoke about when and how you can begin investing, as well as the right decisions to take to guide you into a successful financial journey. Often times with finances having the right outlook is more important than investing in some specific coin or asset that is going to skyrocket in the next given period. We know how important it is to manage your money correctly when you are young so that you are only of benefit to yourself in the future. The decisions you make now are what decides your future, and that is why we decided to make this video. We hope you find it valuable and informative. If you enjoyed, please do consider subscribing to the channel and joining us on this journey of being better than yesterday Sincerely, BTY You may notice we have a new intro! Hello and Welcome to Better than Yesterday! In today’s very special episode Daniel Interviewed Brandon Goagoseb from Next Level Fitness. He is a highly valuable young man in the Rehoboth community where Daniel stays. Through Next Level Fitness Brandon impacts many individuals. Not only by improving their physical health, but also mentally. This man is what we call a visionary who wants to see the Rehoboth community going forward, therefore his purpose is bigger than himself. We had an awesome conversation picking his brain, getting to know him personally, his background, and how you can become a person who takes yourself to the next level and expanding your territory.

Hello and Welcome to Better than Yesterday! Today's episode if the first of a new series where we Wrestle with Topics. We discuss what it means to be a man in the day and age we live in. What a strong man now looks like, and how this is different from the image of a strong man that has been traditionally built up. We talk about the new struggles that young men face and how the society we live in has taken progressive steps when encouraging men to talk about their mental health, but then when men do express struggles with mental health it is often met with disdain and disgust.
Daniel and I discuss what a strong man looks like, and how we as men can actually look to resolve some of the issues involved in this topic. We hope you enjoy this first episode of the new series where we wrestle with topics that are prominent in our world today. With this topic we aimed not to exclude women from the conversation but rather to focus on what it means to be a man that will create a better world for all the men and women in their community.
By men being better versions of themselves, the world becomes a better place. Men and Women need to work together in order to achieve the goal of a world that our children can be proud to be a part of. We hope you enjoy the conversation as much as we did having it, and do get involved by leaving a comment below.
We'll see you soon and Much Love,
Sincerely,
BTY

We are back with a new podcast - a topic that is close to our hearts and one that we thought was extremely important to talk about. Why you should not care what other people think about you. In BTY's second episode we discuss 3 applications that are ideal for young people to use to start investing their money. We chose these three applications to best suit young (South) Africans who are keen to start investing in the stock exchange as well as cryptocurrencies. 1. Easy Equities 2. Luno 3. Binance If you are a young person living in South Africa these three apps are recommended to begin your investing journey, and start to see your money grow. Investing is a massive part of what we believe in here at Better than Yesterday, and we look forward to making more videos soon where we show off more ways to improve yourself and even going deeper on how to invest using Easy Equities, Luno and Binance.
Why it's so important for young people to start investing. This is our first video as Better than Yesterday, and we are excited to introduce ourselves and talk about why we think more young people should start investing, wether it be into stocks, cryptocurrencies, gold, silver, or even investing in themselves and who they are rather than spending time and money on assets that never increase in value. We hope you enjoy the video and learn from it and if you did, consider subscribing to this channel because we will have weekly content coming up, talking about self development, investing, practical ways to get started and much more! Sincerely, Better Than Yesterday
