In this episode, we speak to Emma and Erandi, two of the founders of PPLE’s Periodic Initiative! Their projects aim to reduce period poverty, and they advocate for universal access to sanitary products. This was the second time Periodic has been featured on AIM for Change, and in this episode we catch up with the progress of both the Periodic initiative and the broader discourse surrounding menstrual poverty over the last year. Today, Periodic advocated for addressing period poverty in Amsterdam at the municipality building for the council vote! In this episode, we speak to Irmak, the chair of the UvA and VU’s student-run charity Students for Children! Their projects aim to reduce barriers to education in third world countries around the globe. With their latest project, they are working to build latrines at a school in Cameroon! Our Bodies Our Voice is a non-profit foundation that aims to prevent sexual violence and establish consent culture at universities in Europe. In this episode, we discuss university party culture, the rise of spiking, the danger of victim blaming, and how each of us can take steps to promote social safety.

Fourth episode of Aware! focuses on Pride month and LGBTQ+ community. Together with Anneke van der Werf, the Chair of the A.S.V.Gay student association, we discuss contemporary issues facing the LBGTQ+ community, as well as corporate performative activism, discrimination and inclusivity in Amsterdam, and more.
The third episode of Aware! focuses on mental health awareness. We asked various university students to submit pieces of writing regarding their thoughts and feelings about mental health issues. Some offer firsthand insight into what it is like to struggle with mental illness or turn to music for solace, while others offer advice and celebrate recovery from the darkest of places. Thank you for your submissions!

Together with two members of UvA Green Office - Luna Hamann and Zita Kosaras - we discuss different ways one can be sustainable while still addressing large scale global change.
