Hey Faithers! Happy Monday!! Welcome to Episode 115! Today, we have a Grief Beyond Death Episode. We have Ronni Jay, a Comedian in St. Louis. We are discussing living out our dreams through grief!

Ice Breaker: Butterfly Affirmations by Alana Fairchild

LeLe:

Even when things aren’t perfect or don’t seem to be working out, I choose to trust in life.

Everything is going to be OK.

Everything happens according to divine timing for the best results.

Ronni Jay:

I trust myself. I am wise. I am brave.

Today I dareto do something differently.

My intuition is strong and clear. I trust the voice within.

I haveconfidence in myself. I am ready for everything that life offers me.

Topic: Living in your dream while living in your grief season

It takes a lot of violence to get to an authentic place of healing.

Find your people. If you feel like you are not being supported then step out of your comfort zone and find new people to be around.

Be comfortable with where you are mentally. Sometimes the people around us are more uncomfortable with how we are feeling than we are. Find your safe spaces and speak on your current season.

Grief comes in all shapes and sizes. Do not be afraid to find different ways to heal.

Do not be scared to live out of your dreams. It is never too late! Even if you think your time has past; as long as you have breath in your body and your feet above ground, it is never too late. Go for it!

Affirmation:

I’ve discovered that I am fierce and I am who I want to be!

Hey Faithers! Happy Monday!! Welcome to Episode 114!

Ice Breaker: Butterfly Affirmations by Alana Fairchild

Nothing is impossible for the heart. Love will always find a way.

I soothe away anxiety and stress by choosing to do thingd that help me relax.

I give myself permission to switch off my mind and have some fun.

My patience is being rewarded. My turn will come.

I listen to the intuitive wisdom of my own feelings. I am guided from within.

It is safe for me to explore unknownworlds and try new things.

Topic:Realities Through Grief

Hey Faithers! We are still working through 31 Days of Social Work since I had a couple of stumbling blocks and I want to continue to educate people about Social Work.

It is also my grief season. What this means it is a season where a major loss was taken. On April 12th, 2007, I lost my father! And ever since then I’ve been trying to understand myself and Grief Season.

I went to the Millenial Social Work Conference and I attended a session with another Grief Expert,Kamisha Hayes. And she confirmed everything I’ve discussing and I even learned more terms.

Anticipatory Grief- Grief is a natural emotional response to loss. Anticipatory grief is is feelings of grief or loss that are felt before the loss actually happens. People facing their own death or the death of a loved one may experience anticipatory grief. (HealthDirect, 2021)

Disenfranchised Grief-A loss that is not openly acknowledged, socially violates or publicly mourned, on other words, a loss where society itself fails the griever by simply not recognizing their right grieve.

I’ve had a couple of realizations since allowing myself to process in 2024.

I am who I am. I preach all the time about transitions and how we grow and change. And I am going through a change. Recently, something happened to me where I could feel myself physically and mentally changing. I literally felt like a monster was being created.

In knowing that I’ve had to accept some of the transitions in relationships I have. I have gotten closer to some people and distant from others. A couple of my close friend have said they think I am distant but honestly, I just dont have much to give no more and I am done planning.

My career. There was a time when you could not tell me I would not be in anon profit sector working in the direct service industry and being with students. As of today I really don’t want to do any direct service unless I have complete control of it. I am done with direct service.

I think I am feeling the effects of burn out through out my life, from people, careers and relationships. I practice self-care but also I have always struggled with gratitude and boundaries. And now that I have real boundaries such as a bed time, not so much time on my phone, not going out when I don’t want to, not planning, things are taking a shift.

I am grieving the perosn who used to love no matter what and who used to show up. I miss the person who showed up to everything and was so happy to do so. Now that I have things in place I am transitioning and learning. But I am grieving too.

I recently added Floating to my self-care routine. Floating has allowed me to focus on me and make time for complete silence and sit with myself. I know I have complained a lot about not having time but recently I realized I can do whatever I want when I just do what I want.

There is grief in transition!

Affirmation:

I am allowed to blossom and be who I am created to be.

Ice Breaker: How to Love Yourself by Louis Hay

I let my light shine. I am wonderful. I rejoice in the truth of my being. I accept it as so and let it be.

Topic: Everyone Has An Agape & Self-Love Story

I wanted to do this topic because March is Women’s Month, Social Work Month, and Doula Appreciation Month. I believe Agape and Self-Love go hand in hand, but in order to work in these industries, you have to have some type of Agape love and self-love.

Agape love is mostly seen as God’s love. While I am a believer in God, and I can understand it. I started to switch my perspective on Agape love. I believe it is loving people for who they are. God’s love is unconditional, and we’re taught that God’s love is unfathomable. But what if we start allowing ourselves to be human and seeing people for just that? I am not God, nor will I ever be. Plus, God is going to be God regardless. While I am here on earth, I can do my job and love people for who they are.

While being in social work, we have a code of ethics that we follow, and one of them is the right to self-determination. As a social worker, it is my job to make sure my client has and knows their rights to self-determination. This means that if I see a problem and I have a solution and I give it to my client, my client does not have to take it. This is a hard one for people to grasp. A lot of the time, we want to help people because of what we lack, but people do not receive the way we receive. A lot of my struggle in 2023 was wanting more for people. Just because I think they should leave the relationship or job does not mean it is the right thing to do. Just because something worked for me and I had this bug revelation does not mean my friend will have the same.

Being a social worker, there is a lot of giving and giving some more. One, in order to do this job, we must have agape love because this truly is a thankless job. Even though we are helping people, we are the ones getting cursed out. We get the burnt end of everything. We very rarely get acknowledgment for anything other than what is wrong. We have to fight in some of the toughest situations and are still expected to show up with a smile on our face, and if we don’t, we’re deemed not a people person.

But as a social worker, I keep going back because I know the world needs more resources and safe spaces. That is agape love to me. Also, I know that self-care and self-love are preached in social work, but they are not considered in actual social work. Most of us can not practice what we preach because the industry doesn’t allow us to.

  • Affirmation:

I am ready to trust and love myself more this year.

Please remember that the information provided is not a substitute for services provided by a mental health professional. In an emergency, please call 911. You can also call 988 for mental health support and resources. Hey Faithers! Happy Monday!! Welcome to Episode 107! We are in our Everyone Has A Love Story Series! This is a Grief Beyond Death episode! Let me introduce you to Chris Wells! We dive deep into what an Eros love is! Let's talk all things love!

Ice Breaker:

The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz

Chris:

Card 1: Don’t take anything personally; take other people as they are. When you see other people as they are without taking it personally, you can never be hurt by what they say or do. Even if others lie to you, it is okay. They are afraid you will discover that they are not perfect.

Card 2:Be impeccable with your word. Realize the power of your word. Your word is the power that you have to create; it is a gift that comes directly from God.

Card 3: Always do your best. Take action on your ideas. You are doing your best means to take action. You can have many great ideas in your head. But without action upon an idea, there will be no manifestations, no results, and no reward.

Lisa:

Card 1: Don’t make assumptions. In any relationship, we can assume that others know what we think and that we don’t have to say what we want. We assume they are going to do what we want because they know us so well. If they don’t do what we want, we feel hurt and think, How could you do that? You should know.

Card 2: Be impeccable with your word. Seek to know the truth. When you hear an opinion and believe it, you agree with it, and it becomes part of your belief system. The only thing that can break this agreement is to make a new one based on truth. Only the truth has the power to set you free.

Card 3: Be impeccable with your word. Cultivate Faith. To have great faith is to have great power. Because your intent, your will, is undivided. When your word isn’t dissipated by doubt, the power of your word becomes even stronger.

Topic: Everyone Has An Eros Love Story

Desiring an Eros love showed me that I desired more than a partner. Also, after researching love and reading a ton of love books, fiction and nonfiction, I learned a lot about love and men. I started to look at men as I look at myself., they're human. For example, If I didn't know about love or dating, how do I expect a man to know what that is? How can I ensure that he knows? I learned to be vocal and honest with what it is I want and don’t want.

Reading fictional books that have to do with love also taught me a lot. I know it was fiction, but these authors pulled me in and gave examples of different characters with different ways of love. Also, it shows what love is when two people decide to love and when two people make the conscious decision to choose to love someone and live life.

I realize I want to live life with someone. I don’t just want to be cute and have all the cute social media stuff, but there are actual things I want in a partner. Social Media and Podcasts do not dictate what I want or don’t want in an Eros relationship.

I also had to grieve my romantic love. I had a vision for my romantic love life. I had expectations. But also, I had to permit myself to grieve. I had to let go of wanting something from someone and wanting someone to love me the way I love them. And I had to be okay with the fact that this person may never be able to give me what I need in love. But also, I had to become open to receiving a love and experience I had never had before. I also met someone who showed me what it is like when a person really likes you.

Affirmation: I trust that love will come into my life when the time is right.

Hey Faithers! Happy Monday!! Happy February! Welcome to Episode 106! We are in our Everyone Has A Love Story Series! This is a Grief Beyond Death episode! Let me introduce you to Antonio Ortiz! We dive deep into everyone having a love story!

Ice Breaker:

  • Don Miguel Ruiz- The Four Agreements
  • LeLe: Don’t make assumptions- Be aware of unconscious assumptions
  • Assumptions are made so fast and unconsciously most of the time because we have agreeemts to communicate this way. We have agreed that it is not safe to ask questions; we have agreed that if people love us, they should know what we want or how we feel.
  • Don’t Take Anything Personally- Embrace Your Freedom-
  • You gain a huge amount of freedom when you take nothing personally. No spell can affect you regardless of how strong it may be. And if you life without fear, if you love, you will be happy with your life.

  • Anthony:

  • Don’t Make Assumptions: Discern the truth.
  • The problem with making assumptions is that we believe they are the truth. We make an assumption, we misunderstand, we take it personally, then we react by sending emotional poison with our word. This creates a whole big drama for nothing.

  • LeLe The Fifth Agreement Don Miguel Ruiz & Done Jose Ruiz with Janet Mills:

  • I don’t believe anybody’s else’s story.
  • I know what whatever people, say is nothing but a stroy that’s distorted by their beliefs. I also know when their words come from truth, and I know because I can feel it.

  • Anthony:

  • I love and respect myself.
  • I see my authentic self, and I love what I see. I see the magnificence of my presence. I see the perfectionin me, and this breaks any doubt that anyone else ever put in my house.

  • Heaven is all around me.

  • Heaven is a point of view, a state of mind. Heaven is where I feel a communion of love with everything in existence.

Topic: Everyone Has A Love Story

  • Each and every person has a love story. On this journey of love I have realized that I not only was I looking for a romantic love but I was searching for love from all directions, parents, family, friends, work, career, community and more I could.
  • I had to learn what love is. I read books like Attached, All About Love and Grief is Love and How to be Love(d) by Humble the Poet.
  • I feel like my thoughts on love have always been nontraditional. But also my outlook on life has been different then what I was taught.
  • I could not figure out why I could not find a man who actually likes me. I could not figure out how to even get men to notice me. It was a struggle. I went back and forth with the idea of being single forever and the idea of never having my person. I wanted love but did love want me.
  • On this journey I played back scenarios of situations and wrote them out how I wished I was and how I wished I would have reacted to them. I wish I would have been smarter.
  • Then I had to come to the conclusion that I had to love myself in multiple seasons and realize I did not know what I didn’t know.
  • Eros Love-Romantic/Exotic Love
  • Storge-Love of Parents for Children
  • Philia-Love of companions and friends
  • Agape-God’s Love/Love of People
  • Self-Love-Love for Self

Affirmation: I am open and ready for true love.

Hey Faithers! Happy Monday!! Welcome to Episode 105!

Ice Breaker:

  • Ice Breaker: The Fifth Agreement Don Miguel Ruiz & Done Jose Ruiz with Janet Mills:
  • I refuse to gossip. I never use the word to gossip about myself or to spread emotional poison by gossiping about other people.
  • I don’t take anything personally. Nothing others say or do is about me. The awareness gives me immunity in my interaction with other people. I am immune to their opinions and their emotional poison.
  • I am impeccable with my word. I never use the word against myself. I use the word in the direction of truth and love for myself. The result is an extraordinary, beautiful life.
  • I am in control of my attention. By mastering my attention, I control my choices and master the dream of my life. I can create anything I want to create. I can do anything I want to. The dream of my life is going to go wherever I want to take it.
  • The Four Agreements Don Miguel Ruiz
  • Be impeccable with your word. Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love.
  • Don’t make assumptions. Say goodbye to sadness and drama. All the sadness and drama you have lived in your life were rooted in making assumptions and taking things personally. The whole world of control between humans is based on that. Take a moment and consider this.
  • Always do your best. Surrender and let go of the past. Whatever life takes away from you, let it go. When you surrender and let go of the past, you allow yourself to be fully alive in the moment. Letting go of the past means that you can enjoy the dream that is happening right now.
  • Don’t make assumptions. Be aware of unconscious assumptions. Assumptions are made so fast and unconsciously most of the time because we have agreements to communicate this way. We have agreed that it is not safe to ask questions; we have decided that if people love us, they should know what we want or how we feel. Topic: Let’s Go. We’re Heading Out.

Alright. We made it out of 2023. We got through the first month of 2024. Within this first month on the HealingSheGotFaith Talk Show, we did a lot of reflection. We reflected on 2023. We worked through it and processed it.

  • Sometimes, a lot of the time we try to move and jump right into something new without working through what we went through,

    • Let’s be honest, in 2023, we had no time to process unless we actively decided to process. I heard so much throughout 2023 that people just kept going and was always busy. People were so busy that eventually they just disappeared. Overstimulation is real. We need time to step back and breathe. So now that we have reflected and discussed what this year would be, let’s get ready to move forward.

What are some short-term intentions we could ficus on?

A couple of mine are:

I have 3 friends where we are being intentional about holding each other accountable in social life, love, prayer, and career/business. We have actively decided that we will connect once a month and each time we connect we have a set up of what we will focus on.

I am going to finish my online courses

I have a content strategy

Marketing strategy

I have set times for my work, business and personal time.

So, now that we have connected and process, we can slowly move forward to where we need to be. We don’t always have to rush into things. Also, most of the time, we are the only ones who are pressuring ourselves. Baby steps are still steps. Affirmation: I trust in the Process of Life. I am Safe.

Hey Faithers! Happy Monday!! Welcome to Episode 104!

Ice Breaker: Butterfly Affirmation by Alana Fairchild

Ice Breaker: Butterfly Affirmation by Alana Fairchild

  • Today, Everything is unfolding perfectly, according to a greater plan.
  • My patience is being rewarded. My turn will come.
  • Brianca Johnson (BriancaJohnson.com): Mindset: I am building a life of peace, joy, and ease. Take Action: Take 10 minutes to sit in silence and reflect on ten things you’re grateful for.

Topic: Be At Peace with the Past and Welcome the New

  • One thing that allowed me to move forward in life was being at peace with what was going on in my life. I had to realize that I did everything I could do. And even though I was not seeing the fruits of my labor, I was still showing up.
  • I had to permit myself to grieve. I was grieving the vision I had for my life. I had to be honest with everything I had going on.
  • I had to turn off everyone's voices. I know people mean well and want to help you, but sometimes you do not help. Sometimes, you need support. Sometimes, you need to know that you’re not by yourself.
  • I had to be at peace with I know I did everything I could, and at some point, it became very real that I had no control
  • Some things I had to come to peace with were:
  • Leaving Social Work
  • Leaving the Nonprofit World
  • Knowing myself and being confident in that
  • Knowing what I’ve done and knowing who and what could help me
  • Knowing I need a new network and team
  • Having boundaries and sticking to them
  • Having to invest in myself
  • Being honest with where I am in life
  • Grieving the life and success, I thought I would have

Affirmation: I am at peace with my past and excited for my future.

Hey Faithers! Happy Monday!! Welcome to Episode 103! Ice Breaker: Brianca Johnson (BriancaJohnson.com) CEO: I can close my computer at a reasonable time; my business will not fail. Take Action: Close your computer today at 3 PM.The Four Agreements Don Miguel Ruiz: Don’t Take Anything Personally: See other people as they are. When you see other people as they are without taking it personally, you can never be hurt by what they say or do. Even if others lie to you, it is okay. They are lying to you because they are afraid you will discover that they are not perfect. Topic: Am I Really New? Do we really become new because it is a new year? I think this can be a yes and no answer. I think it is a mindset thing. We decide when and where we change. But I don’t think it is a drastic change. I think it comes over time.  For me, I started this “New Me’ maybe back in November to prepare me for 2024. I had a couple of realizations, and I knew that 2024 was going to be different. It had to be different because 2023 was rough.  2023 was a rough year for a lot of us. We all had a time. Tears were shed. But I knew I had to come to a place of accepting life and accepting what is present. Some of the truths are hard to accept, and I knew I had to be still and be present.  I knew at some point I had done everything I possibly could. I hustled my business, and I went back to work. I thought I was making business transactions, and people just let me down. Some realizations I had that helped me start a transition: Humans will be humans, meaning they will disappoint. That’s part of being human.  God is God regardless of who I am.  I know I’ve done everything I could, and sometimes, it doesn’t work out.  I am good at a lot of things, but I do not enjoy them just because I am good at them.  Being present could save and stop a lot of my issues.  Having set boundaries, like going to bed at 8:30, fixes some of my problems in life.  Having to know myself has helped me transition. Focusing in on myself and catering to me has transitioned my position in life.  When you decide to heal and be active in your healing and move towards loving yourself the way you love the world, you literally have to relearn who you are.  You are grieving yourself and learning who the new you are. It’s a shift in you and your life. Things start to change because you made an active choice to change. And in that, there is grief. You remember the old you and what you used to do and didn't do, and you are learning who you are now. Period. Affirmation: I let go of old habits and welcome new, positive changes in my life. Please remember that the information provided is not a substitute for services provided by a mental health professional. Hey Faithers! Happy Monday!!

Welcome to Episode 1002! We are bringing in the New Year with some reflection!

Ice Breaker:

Black Female Therapists (Blackfemaletherapists.com): Today, jealousy is removed from my space.

Brianca Johnson-Business Card Deck:

Launch-I don’t have ti jump on every trend and strategy to be successful.

Journal- What strategies will you execute over the next 30 days to hit your goal?

Self-care Empowerment Cards: How can I embrace failure and use it as a stepping-stone to success?

Topic: Vision Boards Ain’t For Me

  • It is that time of year when everyone wants to do Vision Boards. A couple of years ago, I stopped wanting to do vision boards because I noticed I would do all this work only to get to the end of the year and realize I did not know what I signed up for. In my opinion, we do not do Vision Boards the right way. We plan too far ahead. It is not a bad idea to have goals, but what are the baby steps in between?

Intentions: done on purpose; deliberate.

Vision Board: A collage of images and words representing a person's wishes or goals intended to serve as inspiration or motivation. - https://www.themotivationclinic.co.uk/blog/blog-post-title-three-grwe9 - The science behind the Vision Board: - Neuroscience-neuroscientist Dr. Tara Swart explains: "Looking at images on a vision board primes the brain to grasp opportunities that may otherwise go unnoticed. That’s because the brain has a process called ‘value-tagging,’ which imprints important things onto your subconscious and filters out unnecessary information.” “The brain assigns a higher ‘value’ to images than written words on a ‘to-do’ list,” says Swart, “And the more you look at those images, the more those images move up in importance.”

Visualization-brain sees little difference between something actually happening and a strongly imagined vision of it. - Repetition-sing an action board regularly can help you become more willing to take action toward achieving your goals. - Positivity- positive emotion booster - National Vision Board Day - National Vision Board Day: History, activities, Interesting Things to know

Every Second Saturday in January - Such a program was first arranged in 2010 when a group of friends came together to set their goals in a fun and creative setting. - Kellan Lutz and Ryan Daly initiated National Vision Board Day in June 2015 to inspire people and help them to achieve their goals. It is based on the “Law of Attraction”. People can think the whole day about their dreams and what kind of life they want to live. They can visualize how can they make their dream come true. - https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/the-blame-game/201205/throw-away-your-vision-board-0 - Vision boards are based on the Law of Attraction—the idea that your mode of thinking directly affects what the universe gives you. If you put positive mental energy into the universe, you’ll be the recipient of positive outcomes. - Thus, the reason for any unrealized goals is that you did not provide enough positive thoughts and energy to the process or you let some negative thoughts slip in. In short, you’re completely to blame for your lack of success. - I think being intentional about what works for us is the key. If vision boards work for you and you can scratch things off, I think that is great. But for me, that does not work. A lot of time, I find myself comparing myself. Also, even if I have it on my phone, tablet, or computer if I am not actually completing things, then it is just some artwork I did. I want it to be active. I think regrouping every 30-90 days is more intentional. Affirmation: I am capable of achieving my goals and turning my dreams into reality.

  • We just left the grief season of 2023—happy New Year and welcome to 2024.
  • Over the grief season, I heard a lot of people saying they were not in the spirit.
  • While I love the authenticity, let’s look at this a little differently.
  • Do we need to be in the holiday spirit? What does that even mean? The white snow? Decorated tree. Matching PJs. And all the family?
  • Or does it look like we need to start our traditions and setups?
  • Life is hard. Life during the holiday season is even harder.

Welcome to episode 97! We are still in our Grief, Healing & Holidays Series! Today, our topic is how do you want to end the year?

Icebreaker: Healing Grief Card Deck by David Kesler:

Understanding Grief: Those who grieve well, live well. In grief, you don’t need to be fixed because you are not broken.

Topic:

  • November 16th is my mom’s birthday. My mom would have been 62. I love this side of grief because I can see that my mom’s birthday is still her birthday even if she is no longer on this Earth. That is the day she was born. I can celebrate her and know that she had an impact on this world.
  • This year I released my second book! Everyone Has A Love story which whew!!!! That book! I challenged myself!
  • Also, When the HealingSheGotFaith Talk Show started on a radio platform, it was on this day or around it. I was on a radio platform, but obviously, I am on my own now. And actually, I started the Talk Show in 2020 in April but it was only supposed to be an “event” in correspondence to the blogs I used to write. So, it was dope to be in a position to be on the radio for a little bit and get that experience. I want to take this episode to discuss what I envision this season of my life would look like if my parents were here.I also want to discuss how I feel about this new book!!!!

  • Today, we are in episode 95. I want to connect on How I Feel. It is a week before the holidays. Maybe you went through a breakup, job loss, family not acting right, money not right. A lot is happening in life, and the holidays are here, so what are we doing? Let’s hop into the conversation of “How I Feel.”

Ice Breaker: Healing Grief Card Deck by David Kesler:

Healing Meaning that this loss may come in time; it can’t be rushed or found for me. Healing takes time. Today, I look forward to finding peace.

Topic: How I Feel - So, I got this idea to practice How I Feel. After talking to someone about a project, the idea was dropped to express my feelings. Since I do something on all the days that represent grief for me. The idea was given to express what was going on on the inside truly. This is the new version of Grief, Healing, and Holidays. Instead of the traditional grief groups, we do paint nights and express our feelings. We need permission to grieve, heal, and feel. How I feel right now is I am at peace. But I have had to make decisions about people. Grief is so much more than death. We grieve relationships, opportunities, dreams, people, friends, and more. I am a grieving person who really wanted to be on this ride with me. But they didn't choose me. I am grieving my parents not being here. I wish they were here to see my accomplishments. I wish I had my person. I am grieving the love I thought I had with people. I am grieving the visions and dreams I thought I would have. So, I feel right now I am at peace. I’ve cried, but what’s important to me right now is me. I am at a place of being present, at peace and doing what I want. I do not want to beg anyone to be here. I do not want anyone to be here who does not want to. Connections flow. My therapist told me on my birthday that we forget that humans are humans. Humans will hurt us. They will neglect us. Ghost us. And not show up. Humans will have good intentions but fail. We oftentimes forget to allow humans to be human. That is a game-changer for me. I say this all the time, and I need to practice this all the time. In this moment of How I Feel, I forgot to allow the people around me to be human, AND with that, I had to be okay with letting people go and moving forward. I used to always say, you can be who you are and do what you do but I do not have to deal with it. And so, I had to be reminded of that. Be human.

Affirmation: I am allowed to take up space.

  • Welcome to Episode 94-Grief, Healing & Holidays-Children's Grief Awareness (November 16th, 2023)

Children’s Grief Awareness (Children Grief Awareness)-Notes in bold are from the link. * According to the Childhood Bereavement Estimation Model (CBEM), ⚫ 1 in 12 (or more than 8 percent) of children in the US will experience the death of a parent or sibling by age 18-equating to 6 million bereaved US children and teens. This number doubles to 14.7 million when the age is increased to 25. * Children's Grief Awareness Day is designed to help us all become more aware of the needs of grieving children and the benefits they obtain through the support of others. Children's Grief Awareness Day is an opportunity to ensure that grieving children receive the support they need. * Children who have had someone die—especially a close family member—can feel the loss forever. They eventually go back to school. They might pick some activities back up. They certainly look "normal." And yet there's still that hole inside. * Children's Grief Awareness Day began in Pennsylvania from a desire on the part of students to do more to bring attention to what their grieving classmates were coping with, for the most part, in silence. This initiative grew out of an ongoing partnership of the Highmark Caring Place with hundreds of schools across the state. * After learning more about the work of the Caring Place and learning about how alone and misunderstood their peers often feel after a death, Caring Place staff and these students worked together to inaugurate the first Children's Grief Awareness Day in 2008. * Many people don’t realize that it takes most children much longer to deal with their grief than we expect and that the amount of inner turmoil, invisible to most, is much more intense than we have any idea of. We raise awareness so that people will realize that even if there is no outward sign of inner turmoil, those storms can still be raging inside a grieving child’s heart. * We raise awareness so that people will understand that a grieving child can't just "get over it"—not in any set period, not by any act of their own will—and that there's no reason that they should just "get over it." * Children are people, too. Time we want children to stay in their child’s place, but when they experience a loss or grief, like a little bit of their childhood is taken away, unless an active adult is deciding to helo with that a lot of the time, the adults in those young people’s lives are grieving too. * We want to treat children as children and expect them to operate as adults. * Children need us. No matter if you’re a parent or not. If you work with children up until 18, they need us.

Affirmation: I allow myself to feel fully, to be here now.

  • Episode 93-Grief, Healing & Holidays-I am hosting this holiday season. How do I take a break?

Ice Breaker: How to love yourself-Louis Hay

+ My business is prosperous. I rejoice in other people’s success because I know there is plenty for everyone.
+ I forgive all PAST experiences. I accept all that I have created for myself-my, past and present. I am willing to allow my future to happen.
+ I am in the right place, at the right time, and doing the right thing. I see myself healthy, whole, and living in a society where it is safe for me to be who I am and to love others
  • Topic: I am Hosting the Holidays this Year. How Do I take break?
  • We tend to get wrapped up in other people’s expectations.
  • I’ve heard everything from kids to parents to spouses.
  • While all this is valid, let’s start with giving ourselves permission to take break.
  • We work all day everyday. This is anyone, Single, married, coupled, whatever.
  • We are going through it.
  • Yes, there is a lot of pressure, but in order to show up for you, you have to give yourself permission to rest.
  • Your family, needs to remember and wants you to be your best self.
  • You can not if you feel like you are running ragedy.
  • How you gonna be there for your family if you’re tired.
  • No one wants to be around a grumpy, disengaged, overworked and tired person. We do not get our best selves in that realm.
  • It’s okay to take a break from cooking.
  • Cooking on holidays takes a long time anyways.
  • Operate in healing and not survival. Easier said than done, start with giving yourself permission.
  • Affirmation: I give myself permission to take a break and lower the expectations, especially during the holidays

Welcome to Episode 92- Grief Season- The Holidays are coming up? I am not feeling it.

We are ending our Grief Season Series!

Ice Breaker: How to love yourself-Louis Hay

  1. I am aware that I am pure consciousness. I am one with all life. I rejoice in my unlimitedness.
  2. My past is part of the richness and fullness of life. Without my past, mistakes and all, I would not be here today. I love myself for my willingness to learn and grow.

Topic: The Holidays have arrived. What now?

  • Grief Season is upon us.
  • This time of year can be very difficult.
  • The major holidays are here, and we tend to make this time of year very stressful. Buying gifts, going house to house. Being in situations you really do not want to be.
  • It is very overstimulating.
  • I remember the holidays used to be a good time. Holidays were very special to our family. It was a special time.
  • As time gets older and people find themselves, and people pass away, traditions change.
  • I learned that I did not like the going broke part of the holidays. I hated it when the stores started to open on Thanksgiving. I hated that Black Friday was earlier and earlier. I hate how people act. The true history of Thanksgiving bothers me.
  • Also, with that being said, coming from a Puerto Rican family, thanksgiving is lit. Some of the best food!
  • I remember growing up, my auntie used to host Thanksgiving. She is Haitian, My mother was Puerto Rican, and we had a Jamaican family. We were all from New York. Every year, each family tool turns hosting, and it was so fun. We had our cousins downstairs, the adults upstairs, and the most delicious food ever!
  • But people got older, started building their families, and people moved.
  • Traditions changed.
  • I grieve that. I grieve the big family celebration, and maybe that’s why I do not like holidays now. OR maybe I see and realize how much money and time we spend and how much we struggle.
  • One year for Christmas, we were down bad. We had little money as a family combined. And we decided to go to the McDonalds up the street and order food, which was our Christmas meal. I’ll be honest: that is one of my favorite and best Christmas ever.
  • So, now, as an adult, I try different things. December 25th-Christmas We have gone to the movies the last couple of years.
  • Thanksgiving, I usually spend by myself.
  • New Year's Eve I started celebrating at my building last year.
  • On New Year's Day, I usually spend by myself.
  • So the beauty of traditions is that you can change them and create new ones. If one year you want to be by yourself, that is okay. If another year you want to invite people over, have them over. If you want to order McDonalds or go to the movies another year, have at it!
  • Make this season the way you want to have it.

Affirmation: I choose love. I choose to heal.

  • Welcome to Episode 91- Grief Season- 1 year of Grand Opening

Ice Breaker: Butterfly Affirmation: + Today I choose hope + Self-Empowerment Deck + What is my greatest fear in life? What if I could magically overcome it?

  • Topic: One year of owning a Brick & Mortar!
  • Last week, we walked through some thoughts on Reddit. I tried to give a light episode since the last couple of episodes were pretty heavy.
  • This week will also be a light episode!
  • Let’s talk about opening a physical building! What I learned, liked, and wish I would have known!
  • My siblings and I hopped on a cheap building and purchased it. We had big plans!
  • A couple of things I learned:
  • Just because you own/pay cash does not mean it is yours. These municipalities, local governments, and neighborhoods have their own rules. They do not care that you’re a business owner.
  • Business licenses are a joke. You pay them every year, and you have to pay them to each municipality you are operating in or figure out the policies and rules for when you conduct business.
  • For example, I have a business license in the municipality my building is in. But I have had to get other paperwork and permits if I decide to vend at a pop-up shop if I work in a school, or something like that. My business license is mostly for my physical building. Of course, I have my LLC and EIN, and I am legal in my state.
  • So much goes into it.
  • What I do love about my building is that it is mine. I made it feel like home. People are comfortable. As much bad stuff that I went through, the way it came out was amazing. The coffee bar, the memorial wall, the couch, and just the comfort. I feel at home. I feel safe.
  • People feel that way too. People love the space. I love being there. I can be free and who I am. I can take a nap there. I can sleep there. I feel safe there. It is mine.

  • Affirmation: I let go of expectations and trust the process.

  • Ice breaker: Self-Care Empowerment Deck:

Welcome to Episode 89-Grief Season- I don’t want to feel this pain

Icebreaker: Self-Care Empowerment Cards- What is my greatest strength? Remember, you become your thoughts. Be kind and loving with what you tell yourself throughout the day

  • Topic: I do not want to feel this pain.
  • Have you ever heard someone express to you that they did not want to feel the pain from grief?
  • Ever heard someone say they didn’t want to sit down because they did not want to feel?
  • A lot of people do not know how to sit with themselves.
  • Sitting in pain can be agonizing.
  • I had never just sat down and allowed myself to feel the pain until I had to. Life sat me down.
  • I hear a lot of people say that they’re coping mechanism is to be busy.
  • Usually, when we are so busy, we use it as a distraction to not feel the pain we need to feel. This is not always bad, but sometimes we have to sit and realize.

  • I saw this with my dad; he wanted to work and work until he couldn’t anymore.

  • I wish he would have allowed himself to feel and heal.

  • My mom, I wish she would have spoken about her struggles.

  • Sometimes, we get so uncomfortable with ourselves that we can’t even fathom sitting with ourselves.
  • Grief is individual, and you really do have to do what works for you. Just because I say you need to sit down, doesn't mean you’re ready. A lot of us want more and other things for people than what they want for themselves. However, people have to be prepared for their own journey.
  • A couple of things we can do to support people who just do not want to feel pain are:
  • Be Quiet- Let them do what they need to do
  • When they do come to you- do not be an “I told you so ass person”
  • Love them
  • Embrace them
  • Create that safe space for them so that they will come back and not hold back
  • Let them know that they are human and it’s okay
  • Let them tell you what they need.
  • Affirmation:
  • I am ready and open to receiving my desires. I am no longer hiding from myself.

Welcome to Episode 88-Grief Season- Sitting in the Pain of Grief

  • We are coming up on the 5th anniversary of my mother’s passing.
  • At the end of September, we have officially entered into my grief season which is why we are in this series.
  • Grief has been interesting. It has been hard.
  • Grief has taught me a lot about myself and it has shown me my calling which has been to give people the permission they need to hear to allow themselves to grieve.

Icebreaker: Self-Care Empowerment Card: If I could sit down and have a cup of coffee or tea with anyone in the world, past or present, who would it be? What would I ask them?

Topic: Sitting in the Pain

  • I am walking in my grief season.
  • This is the 5th anniversary of the car accident that would change my life.
  • I went numb.
  • I took a break.
  • Then I came back when I was ready.
  • I was a completely different person when my mom, specifically passed like I did not recognize myself.
  • I had to sit with myself. Like really sit with myself. I moved to New York. I traveled for a while and then Covid happened. All along, my siblings and I were still in investigation for the car accident. There was no time to grieve because business (as far as the investigation) had to happen.
  • Then one day it all ended and I could breathe. I went to therapy and I let out the biggest cry.
  • The therapist there then told me that this was what I needed.
  • From that point on, I would go to the park every morning, walk, and release.
  • I cried, I slept, I was angry. I allowed myself to feel and see everything everyone told me not to do.
  • People wanted me to be happy but I could not until I could.

Affirmation:

  • I speak for myself, and I am always heard.

Welcome to Episode 86: Episode 87-Grief Season-Grief is not Linear

I just wanted to remind you about a couple of things with Suicide Prevention Month. Here are a couple of things to take note of:

  • Do not be scared to talk about it
  • Learn the warning signs
  • Let go of your judgment
  • Find trusted resources and organizations to learn from

Icebreaker: Self-Care Empowerment:

  • What are things that truly make me happy? How can I do more of these?
  • How can I think outside the box? How can I push myself out of my comfort zone?

Topic: Grief is not linear:

  • Grief changes us.
  • Linear means it goes into a straight line or some type of order. But grief has no order.
  • People grieve differently.
  • Some people are silent
  • Some people don’t cry
  • Others are loud
  • Some lose their appetite

  • The best thing to do is allow a person who is grieving to tell you what they need.

  • There is no answer to grief.

Affirmation:

  • I am grateful to myself for allowing me time to heal and accept life.

Ice Breaker:

  • Self-care empowerment Cards:
  • Am I giving it my all?” If I’m trying my best, I shouldn’t stress.

Topic: The Other Side of Grief-Acceptance Pt. 2

  • Let’s talk about Acceptance. I realized that I am on the side of acceptance where I have realized that they are gone and not coming back.
  • But I still have a life to live.
  • I said this in the last episode and I am going to say it here, It’s okay to not be okay but it’s okay to be okay.
  • And I am at a place where I am okay and accepting of where I am at.
  • I am present at the moment.
  • I know I am doing everything I need to do in life.
  • I have accepted I have no control in life. But I am good. I am okay and I am living.
  • Being in therapy working through healing actually being intentional with who I am and learning myself has helped me.

Welcome to Episode 83: My spiritual walk after grief

We are starting a new series; "Grief Season"

Topic: The other side of Grief: How do I know myself after grief?

Ice Breaker:

The Four Agreements:

  • Don’t Make Assumptions. Ask for what you want.

  • Find the Courage to ask for what you want. Others have the right to tell you yes or no, but you always have the right to ask. Likewise, everybody has the right to ask you for what they want, and you have the right to say yes or no.

The Fifth Agreement

  • I don’t concern myself with other people’s opinions
  • I know that the opinions that come from other people have nothing to do with me. This really frees me! Whatever people think of me is really about the image they have of me and that image isn’t me.

Topic: The other side of Grief? How do I know myself after grief?

  • The hard truth and the thing we do not talk about is you don’t.
  • It takes intentionality to figure out who you are.

  • I am just now getting to a place where I see some of my old self and the “normality” of life.

  • My moods are up and down

  • Grief is tricky. Once you accept something, something else can happen and then something else is triggered.

  • Let’s talk about the word triggered. What does it actually mean?

  • Article from Pysch Central https://psychcentral.com/lib/what-is-a-trigger

  • Per Psych Central; "In psychology, a “trigger” is a stimulus that causes a painful memory to resurface. A trigger can be any sensory reminder of the traumatic event: a sound, sight, smell, physical sensation, or even a time of day or season."

  • A trigger is something that sparks a reaction to a traumatic or mental health event

  • Someone dies and it takes you back to a place where you dealt with another death

  • You smell the perfume your mom used to wear and your mood changes

  • You drive past the last place you saw your dad and tears are formed

  • A common example is fireworks being blasted by war veterans and the veteran reacts as if he or she is a soldier at war or back in their military mindset.
  • There is such thing as a “Grief Trigger”
  • My grief assists
  • anything that brings up memories of a loss that has happened to you.
  • Smells
  • Memories
  • Seeing someone who looks like your loved ones or seeing a house that reminds you of the house you lost
  • Sometimes it’s hard to handle it because grief will come out of nowhere. You will see something and start crying
  • I remember being at a wedding and seeing a mother and son and daddy and daughter dance, and I cried, between the songs, the smells, the alcohol, and the thought of “I will never experience this.” I was triggered.
  • Graduation was another thing. When I graduated from college with my bachelor's, we were struggling. I felt like I didn’t appreciate my mom and all she did. I honestly felt like I was wrapped up in some boy. So with my master's, I wanted to redo and make that graduation extra special. But she was killed 6 months before graduation. So, I never got the experience I thought I would have. Graduations trigger me.
  • Learning my triggers helped me to know where I can go.
  • It helped with boundaries.
  • It helped with being present at the moment.
  • I was able to title my emotions through therapy, journaling, and productive conversation.
  • Sometimes you do not need to talk to your family and friends about what you are feeling at the moment. It can be hard to explain it and express what you’re going through.

  • Seeking a grief group or therapist who specializes in grief is helpful

Affirmation: I am confident in my ability to heal through grief and know myself.

Please remember that the information provided is not a substitute for services provided by a mental health professional. In an emergency, please call 911. You can also call 988 for mental health support and resources. In a non-emergency, you can go to healingshegotfaith.org/resources for additional resources.

Welcome to Episode 83: My spiritual walk after grief

This is a vulnerable episode so be nice! LOL

Ice Breaker:

Scripture Cards by 5 Below:

"Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord Psalm 31:24

Psalm 31:24English Standard Version

24 Be strong, and let your heart take courage,
all you who wait for the Lord!

Topic: Topic: Do you still believe in God?

  • Today is Technically my Jesus Anniversary
  • Yes.
  • I am proclaimed Christian. I probably fall into the non-denomination.
  • So, there was a time when I thought I did not believe in God, but even when I would say it out loud, I would still do some of the same things, such as pray, go to God, and even read the bible.
  • My outlook on the Christian living and God is different. I’ve had to separate man from God (which is extremely hard).
  • But my belief in what I used to believe is different. I fall into the category of deconstructing Christianity.
  • Let’s break that down; what is deconstructing?
  • First I have to ask, What do I believe? Do I believe in God, do I believe in Jesus Christ, and do I believe that he is the one and only way to God?
  • I’ll be honest, I’ll say yes but I do say it hesitantly because I struggle with there is only one way and one way only. But ultimately, I believe that is my foundation.
  • I no longer believe that I have to save people. Once I realized that I did not have to be God, my world changed. My disbelief was coming from not seeing people be saved by me. But I realized God never asked me to be God. God asked me to believe in His Son and lay everything at the foot of the cross.
  • The Bible- with this, I take a more episcopalian approach. The Bible is fallible, not infallible. Meaning, the bible is up for interpretation and not set in stone. The Bible has historical facts and times that relate to that specific era. The Bible is here as an example.
  • I no longer find church to be productive and while I do miss it, I miss the community. I could not even listen to a teacher in a classroom teach to me, I can not go to church and be preached at.
  • Worship how the church's worship has never done anything for me. Being around a group of people singing was not me worshipping. But I could go into a silent room and journal or write or even talk to God and worship. Worship looks so different to me now. My opinion is that most people in the church are doing what everyone else is doing but the heart posture isn’t right.
  • The hard truth, is God is going to be God whether I believe in Him or not. God doesn’t need me. I need God. I can not change God.

Affirmation: I am grateful for each moment that God gives me.

Please remember that the information provided is not a substitute for services provided by a mental health professional. In an emergency, please call 911. Welcome to Episode 82: Processing an audible journal entry

Ice Breaker:

Affirmation Cards by 5 Below:

Today I am flexible. Today I will adapt to changes in my life with an open mind and a positive outlook.

The Four Agreements:

Don’t make assumptions-Let your life be transformed

When you stop making assumptions, your word becomes impeccable, and your life is completely transformed. Magic just happens in your life, what you need comes to you easily because spirit moves freely through you.

The Fifth Agreement:

I am dreaming right now in the moment.

The world I think I see outside of me is actually inside of me. It’s just images in my imagination. It’s a dream.

I am in control of my attention.

By mastering my attention, I control my choices, and master the dream of my life. I can create anything I want to create. I can do anything I want to do. The dream of my life is going to go wherever I want to take it.

I am free to be who I really am.

Personal freedom—-the freedom to be who I really I am, the freedom to do what I really want to do —- is the greatest gift that I can give myself.

Topic:

We do not talk about the evolution of healing.

Currently, I am in the most peaceful and fulfilling part of my life and there is still an underlying sadness. While I am grateful and enjoying life right now, I am missing love; a romantic love.

Everyone knows everything about healing. It’s “linear” or at least that’s how they make it seem but in reality, healing is so personal.

Two things can exist at once. I can be happy and at peace with life but also I can still desire romantic love.

This week in therapy my therapist congratulated me on no longer taking on the burdens of other people. I no longer make room or take on what they have. I leave people where they’re at and have a healthy boundary.

I also met with the Joi of Social Work! I scheduled one of her “Pick Joi’s Brain” Sessions. I highly recommend you all do the same. Here is the link: Pick Joi's Brain Session

In this session, I was talking to Joi about my career shift and healing shift. We discussed grief and love came up. She asked do I think the thing I am missing is love. And Y’all it sparked something in me.

Then I went to the studio to work on my first audiobook and the producer kept saying, “Give yourself grace.”

Between Therapy, Joi, and the studio session, it got me processing life. Today’s episode is basically an audio journal entry because sometimes we just need to sit and process. We do not give ourselves time to process what’s happening. We are always looking for the next thing. Today I decided to process.

Affirmation: I choose to live in the present moment, I am allowing myself to transform. I accept me for who I was, who I am and who I am becoming and I am grateful for that.

Hey, Faithers! Happy Monday! Welcome to Episode 78: New Discoveries within Grief Pt. 5

Takeaways: Recap of all Episode in Discoveries in Grief:

Part 1:

  1. Realizing you’re not the same person
  2. You do not enjoy the things you once did
  3. You will not put up with things like you used to.

Part 2:

  1. Not showing emotions.
  2. I’ve learned to take things moment by moment and be present. Being present does not allow me to get too excited or angry. I’ve learned to take things minute by minute. Enjoy the moment.
  3. Going through grief shifts how we function and we have to relearn who we are. I can let you know how I would react previously compared to now. Sometimes when I want to be excited, I can not.

Part 3:

  1. You know how people discuss them going through things and they will say stuff like, “I want better for y’all because I do not want y'all to go through what I went through?" I used to believe this, but now I've learned to step away from this thought process.
  2. Healers, leaders, social platforms, and content creators have to learn that just like we had a process, the people we are trying to help, have a process. They are not always ready to move forward. Also, some people need a certain action or mentality, or attitude to move forward. I definitely take a more soft approach with people, adults, and kids. But some people need a more aggressive approach.
  3. With that being said, I do meet people where they are at.
  4. I did used to be that person who wanted to fix the world because of how messed up my world was.
  5. I do know community resources are needed and I want to work in my competence. But if someone is not ready to accept and heal the way I have, it is not personal.
  6. I know I have a lot of solution base friends and followers on social media. I am here to tell you, I am not. I accept people for who they are and allow them to be just that. That comes with boundaries because sometimes I can not deal with it.
  7. But overall I know that people are on their own journey and when they are ready for help they will approach.

Part 4:

  1. Being Excited
  2. Living in the moment

  3. Trusting people

  4. Wanting to plan stuff
  5. Believing in myself
  6. Appreciating the quiet and alone time and having boundaries.

Affirmation: I possess the qualities needed to be extremely successful.

Hey, Faithers! Happy Monday! Welcome to Episode 77: New Discoveries within Grief Pt.

Takeaways:

1.) JI no longer take on the responsibility that people need me.There was a point where I used to look at people and say they need this. They need that. But once I stepped back and realized that people have their own journeys, I started looking at life as an individual thing. 2.) I want to provide resources. My theory is there should be a community center on every corner just like there’s a Quicktrip on every corner. 3.) Because I went through grief and allowed myself to feel, I was able to discover myself.

Affirmation: Today I will be grateful for what I have.

Hey Faithers! Welcome Back! Happy Monday! We got a special episode today!

We have a Grief Beyond Death episode! Grief Beyond Death is a segment where we bring people from the community, and they come and tell their grief story and how they handled it, along with receiving their flowers and discussing subjects near and dear to their hearts. As you all know, we do not just believe that grief only deals with death but that grief is any loss you have experienced that has affected your life.

Welcome to Episode 59! We have a special guest, Neda Kellogg, A Mother, Self-Discovery Coach, Author, Philanthropist, and Student Pilot. With over 23 years of experience providing self-discovery and personal development coaching, Neda has her eyes set on sharing her proven method of 'remembering one's authentic truth' worldwide. Over the past 15 years, the organization she founded, Project DIVA Int’l (www.projectdiva.org), has delivered relevant programming, emotionally stabilizing skill sets, an economic focus, and foundational career pathways to girls in 6th through 12th grades. She is a student pilot pursuing her private pilot’s license in her spare time. She will eventually be instructing girls toward their private pilot licenses, inspiring them to join the world of STEM through aviation.

Hey Faithers! Welcome Back! Happy Monday!

Welcome to Episode 58-28 Days of Love Series: He was never your!In episode 58, we discuss knowing that you are worthy even if you have not experienced a healed love yet.

We picked cards from How to love your self by Louis Hay

"I let my light shine. I am wonderful. I rejoice in the truth of my being. I accept it as so and let it be."

Takeaways:

We have to recognize why we want a relationship. Is it because we are lonely, or is it ego-driven? It's okay to heal and still want companionship! Healing is not monolithic. Healing will not look the same for everyone else. You are worthy even if you have not experienced a healed and healthy love or if you have not gotten your healed love yet!

My Suggestions:

  • Learn your Love Language, Communication style, and Attachment Style.
  • Know the reason why you want a relationship. Define your ideal relationship. What do you want in the relationship? What are non-negotiables?
  • In your singleness, be open and honest with yourself to be open and honest with the person you will be with.

Hey Faithers! Welcome Back! Happy Friday!

Today we switched it up a little bit and did a reflection Friday!

Welcome to Episode 52, Authentic Self-Love Care Series: Word of 2023: Intentions/IntentionalIn episode 52, we discuss the word of 2023!

We picked cards from Mindful Messages.

Nurture

It's ok to want to stay home and be alone. I deserve days to myself, days to relax and simply be.I honor how I feel and take this day to do the things that feel nurturing to me.

Takeaways:

  1. According to Google, Intention is a thing intended, an aim, or plan. Intentional is defined as done on purpose; deliberate.
  2. I used to think that I needed to master boundaries and stick to them, but I really needed to be intentional and learn about my intentions that will take me to the level I need.
  3. So often, people make New Year's resolutions, which are not bad, or we make vision boards, but we just make them and then never look at them again. This year we want to be intentional about what it is that we need and want.
  4. So many times, I've given up on myself, but It Is because of worth, knowledge, and accountability, this year I am intentional about what I am doing and making sure that I am taking the steps I need. Everything I do right now Is very intentional.

Affirmation:

"I am experienced and living the life I’ve always imagined. I am successful."

Hey Faithers! Welcome Back! Happy Monday!

Welcome to Episode 48;I am not doing my best at work! We are in our new series, "Grieving as an adult."In episode 48, we discuss being an adult, grieving, and why we are not doing our best at work. Whether you are a 9-5 worker, student, entrepreneur, or part-time worker, we are feeling the season's woes and may not be showing our best. Let's discuss why this might be!

We picked cards from The Body Gratitude Deck of Cards and Butterfly Affirmations.

Butterfly Affirmations:

Card 1: "I am a unique child of the Universe, perfectly me, exactly as I am meant to be."

Card 2: "Life doesn't have to be perfect in order for me to choose happiness. Today I choose happiness.

The Body Gratitude Deck of Cards:

Card 3: "Our ability to connect with others is innate, wired into our nervous systems, and we need connection as much as we need physical nourishment." Sharon Salzberg

"Thank you for allowing me to experience the warmth of connection."

Takeaways:

1.) We are all feeling the seasonal woes.

2.) You may not know that you are grieving. You could be grieving your kids, the life before you were an adult, your marriage, or any loved one you lost.

3.)It does not matter what type of "adult worker" you are (9-5, full-time, part-time, first shift, 3rd shift, school, stay-at-home mom, entrepreneur, etc.) We will all feel unmotivated, and like we are not living up to our best selves. Sometimes showing up to work is the battle, but we must understand that it is the season, and we might be grieving and lacking boundaries.

4.) You have the right to set boundaries between yourself and work. No is a complete sentence.

5.) Even if taking a break from work is not an option, find 5-10 minutes every hour to sit with yourself, be creative, take a lunch break, and find little loop holes like taking out the trash or going to the bathroom to get a few minutes to yourself while at work. To be our best selves, we must find time throughout the day to cater to us and take breaks.

Affirmation: "I am worthy of being healthy while I work. I can work, grieve, set boundaries, and still be my best self. All of this can exist at the same time."

Hey Faithers! Welcome Back! Happy Monday! I missed y'all last week!

With the holidays, I can not lie; I completely forgot to do an episode last week! But here we are!

Welcome to Episode 47! We are ending our Grief, Healing & Holidays series! But we are saying hello to our new series, "Grieving as an adult."

In episode 47, we discuss my therapy session and revelation, my new tradition of the holidays, and entering into the era of owning my grief. While there is a lot of changes and emotions, there are ways to address them and give ourselves permission to feel what we feel! And so we are!

We did not pick cards today! (I told y'all it's been weird.)

Takeaways:

1.) You can be lonely but not alone.

2.) There are bad therapy days, meaning sometimes we make a revelation, and the only thing we can do is be with our discovery to recover.

3.) The holidays are hard and stressful, but we can change that. We can shift our traditions. This may mean that we have to unlearn what we were taught. However, there is no rule to having to follow tradition.

4.) Grieving as an adult may mean that you are grieving more than just death; you are grieving your old life, original relationship, and self. You have to set boundaries and give yourself permission to grieve.

5.) Seek professional help. This can be costly and timely, but sometimes our friends and family can only support and love us and give us advice we did not ask for. But seeking professional help that would guide you through what you need. This is not easy, but I believe everyone should try it.

Affirmation: "I will no longer be willing to ignore my boundaries for the happiness of others." By BlackFemaleTherapists.com

Hey Faithers! Welcome Back! Happy Monday! We got a special episode today!

We have not done this since March! But we brought back Grief Beyond Death!

Welcome to Episode 46! We are in our Grief, Healing & Holidays series! This is Episode 46, where we have a special guest, Wendy DuCasse, a social worker. Wendy and her husband learned that they may not be able to have children the "traditional way." After she and her husband grieved the "traditional ways" they thought they would have, they went on a healing journey and started the adoption journey. Wendy walks us through the adoption journey and what it looked like for her route. She brought much-needed attention and advocacy to Adoption and the steps we must take to help people on the adoption journey.

We picked cards from Dream Cards:

Wendy: "Don't try to control things, it will take you further away from your inner wisdom. Calm down and listen to your heart. Your subconscious is always working towards your best interests.

LeLe: "Let your dreams shift and shape, just like your life shifts and shapes every day. Ask yourself every morning: "Am I shaping my life the way it to be?"

Takeaways:

November is National Adoption Month.

There is grief in adoption, such as a family realizing they may not be able to have kids the "traditional way" and/or a family making the decision to put a child up for adoption.

There is also grief in going through the process and believing you found a match, but something happens, and the match does not happen.

There needs to be more education & advocacy on adoption. Affirmation: "I can change the life I don't like."

Hey Faithers! Welcome Back!

Happy Monday!

Welcome to Episode 44!

We are starting a new series this week, Grief, Healing & Holidays! During this series, we will discuss how to survive the holidays!

We picked cards from Dream Card & Mindful Messages:

Dream Card:

The answers lie in the moment. Stay awake, be present and stay faithful to your observations and feelings.

Mindful Messages:

The better it gets. When things happen that cause me to feel good, I know there are more good feelings coming my way. The better it gets, and I keep rising up.

Takeaways:

1.) Check in with yourself, be present with yourself! Observe the feelings and emotions of what your body is telling you!

2.)The holidays are fastly approaching, which means that grief season is here. Grief Season is when most people start to feel because holidays usually mean family gatherings and traditions. However, not everyone can enjoy the holidays because of grief. There is a societal grief season typically from November to January, then individual grief seasons. Individual grief season means the times around your loss that affect you.

3.) The growth of HealingSheGotFaith has been amazing to watch and witness.

Hey Faithers! Welcome Back!

Happy Monday!

We picked one card from The Four Agreements Don Miguel Ruiz and one from the Butterfly Affirmations, and an affirmation from Black Female Therapists:

The Four Agreements:

Card 1: Don't make assumptions. Relinquish the need to change others. Real love is accepting other people the way they are without trying to change them. This means that we do not really like them. It is easier to find someone who is already the way you want him or her to be. Instead of trying to change the person.

Butterfly Affirmations:

Card 2: Every dark night must turn into a bright new morning.

Affirmation from Black Female Therapists (The organization/website blackfemaletherapists.com):

I am worthy of peace, and I give myself permission to put down my pain. I can no longer carry the misconception that I must hold tight to my pain to heal. For my healing to begin, I know emotional rest is necessary, and that is what I am ready to do.

Takeaways:

1.) HealingSheGotFaith defines grief as any loss you have experienced that has impacted your life.

2.) Society does not teach us about grief; most information society has taught us has been misinterpreted.

3.)Sometimes, people can not come with us because they cannot handle the transformation of our life.

4.) It is okay if you are missing and grieving your older self!

5.) We have to learn to give ourselves emotional rest. We do not have to be stuck with our pain to heal!

Please remember that the information provided is not a substitute for services provided by a mental health professional. In an emergency, please call 911. Hey Faithers! Welcome Back!

Happy Monday!

We picked four cards from The Four Agreements and The Fifth Agreement by Don Miguel Ruiz:

The Four Agreements:

Card 1: Don't take anything personally. Ignore the opinion of others. Whatever people do, feel, think, or say, don't take it personally. Others are going to have their own opinion according to their belief system, so whatever they think about you is not about you, but it is about them.

Card 2: Always do your best. Take action on your ideas. Doing your best means to take action. You can have many great ideas in your head but without action upon an idea, there will be no manifestation, no results, and no reward.

The Fifth Agreement

Card 3: I am the artist of my own life. Words are my paintbrush, and life is the canvas. What I paint with words is the way I see myself, the way I see my entire reality. What I pain is my life, and how it looks depends on how I use the word.

Card 4: I am completely authentic. I don't pretend to be what I am not. I am what I am, and I accept what I am. I am just like a flower, just like the ocean, just like the sun. I am just like me.

Takeaways:

1.) Do you know yourself? If so, congratulations! That's a huge milestone that should be celebrated! If not, hear this and read this; that's okay. Let's get you to that point.

2.) We sometimes have to be tested to prove what has been said.

3.) We have to learn emotional regulation. Sometimes, our only option is to walk away, which is okay.

4.) Our healing, belief, and growth journey do not look the same. We must be at peace with ourselves and learn that everyone is not meant for us and we are not for everyone else.

5.) You deserve the love that you desire. Healing looks good on you.

Hey Faithers! Welcome Back!

Happy Monday! Happy August! New Month, New Week and New Monday!

We picked 3 cards from the Butterfly Affirmation Deck of Card by Alana Fairchild:

Card 1: I am a unique child of the Universe, perfectly me, exactly as I am meant to be.

Card 2: It is safe for me to explore unknown worlds and try new things.

Card 3: Everything is going to be OK.

Takeaways:

Month 4 of the healing challenge is not hard. I was prepared because month 3 was intentional and set me up to accept peace. I had to learn what peace meant to me. I had to be okay to go back to my younger self and make her comfortable. I became at peace with who I was and was created to be. I had to be at peace with my mistakes, learning curves, and life. Now, I am moving forward into month 5, which is gratitude. I need to practice being more grateful and showing more gratitude.

I hope you have a month of August and remember to love you the way you!

For our ice breaker, we picked from the Dream Card and Self-Care Wisdom Card Deck:

Card 1: Dream Card: "Things don't often work out as planned. Let things appear just as they do and be sure to notice how they unfold perfectly.

Card 2: The Self-Care Wisdom Cards:A closed door is an invitation from life to move in an even better direction. It's time to change course.

Takeaways:

1.) In order to truly heal we have to feel!

2.) Healing has not been easy nor pretty.

3.) Boundaries were not set because there was a lack of discipline.

4.) We have to relearn what healing and being intentional to us actually means.

5.) We have to take these life lessons and be okay with them and come to peace with them, but that takes time and effort.

Everyone that listens to the HealingSheGotFaith Show; I urge you to go to Marvin's website, subscribe to his email list, follow his show and join his Facebook group! You will not be disappointed!

For our ice breaker, we picked from the Mindful Messages Deck:

Card 1: Hold Lightly: I take the things and people that come into my life, lightly. Not holding on too tight, so that when it comes time for them to go, they may go smoothly. This does not mean I love any less or not value, but that I am open to the changes of life.

Card 2: Unique Lives: I respect everyone's individual decisions and way of life. We are each on our own unique journeys and my way isn't the only way. My job is not to change others but to simply love them.

Card 3: It's not personal: People's reactions or opinions of me are really not about me at all. People tend to project their own insecurities or fears onto one another. So, when someone speaks unkindly to me, I'll remember they have something on that has nothing to do with me.

Takeaways:

1.) Grief is cool!

2.)Sometimes we have to let go and it's not because of toxicity, but it's because WE ARE NOT READY.

3.)Healing is not linear. Healing is not always pretty.

4.) We can not take things personally. People do not necessarily treat us the way they feel about us, but how they feel about themselves.

5.) If you are not in your healing journey, then some things we discuss will not make sense.

Hey Faithers! Welcome Back! Happy Tuesday!

I hope you have taken care of yourself throughout these weeks!

For our ice breaker, we picked from The Universe Has My Back and Self-Love by Cosmic Byron Deck:

The Universe Has My Back:

Card 1: I let go of the shadow of the past by seeing someone for the first time with the eyes of love.

Card 2: My outer experiences are a reflection of my internal condition.

Card 3: Happiness is my birthright.

Self-Love by Cosmic Byron:

Card 4: You should try putting yourself first more often & watch how many things begin to solve themselves

Card 5: Stillness. Sit silently, and take a moment to witness the thoughts passing before you just as they have come. Witness them with no added interference, not even an ounce of judgment, because the moment you introduce judgment, you've just interfered with the purity. Avoid such labels as "this is good or this is bad" these have come from a place of social conditioning & are not pure in nature. Sit silently as this entry in thought from before you.

Card 6: The level up is for you. Replace that low vibrational source of energy, with an energy source that radiates high vibrational frequencies. Surrender & allow the universal elements to work magic in your favor.

Takeaways:

1.) Healing is not cute. Authentic healing takes real-time.

2.) You will feel grief, happiness, and growth through healing.

3.) Healing can hurt.

4.) Sometimes there are societal norms that make us feel we have to do certain things such as being active on social media. But honestly, things get tiring. Do what you have to do.

5.) Love you the way you love the world.

Housekeeping:

1.) We have our online bookstore: Bookshop.org/shop/HealingSheGotFaith

Hey Faithers! Welcome Back! Happy Tuesday!

Today's episode is a little intense. I actually recorded this episode on May 25th, the day after 14 kids and 1 teacher was murdered by a terrible person in Texas. Emotions are high. I am angry. We are not in a time where we must hold our senators accountable! We must hold this government accountable! We have too. There is no reason why we have more mass shootings then the days of the year! It is now time for us to step up and speak up! You will hear the passion in my voice today. It was hard to make this episode, but I believe it is my duty to use my platform to speak on the evil and teach people how to hold this government accountable.

For our ice breaker, we picked from the Mindful Messages Deck:

Card 1: Releasing Anger- Anger is a natural emotion, but I recognize that holding on to it can be toxic for me. I look at the person who has caused me pain and see them as the human being they are. I release the anger I feel and free myself. Freeing myself and expanding to love.

Card 2: Doing Our Best- We are all doing our best with the understanding and awareness we have in this moment. Any decision I take is okay, no matter the outcome. I make the best of any situation and learn as I go along.

Hey Faithers and Happy Monday!

How are you doing today? Welcome to Episode 11! This is a transitional episode where we will be leaving our old series and entering into a new series. WoopWoop! Recently I just got done reading Will Smith's Book: Will and it is a game changer! We discuss some the situations he shared with us. Today's episode we five deep into beyond the self-care. Everyone is a expert. Social Media has given us credentials, degrees and titles we never asked for! Which in turn allows everyone the have the answers and know everything.

Today we did not pick a card, but we read an affirmation from the daily affirmations sent by Black Female Therapists. Go ahead and go to their website and enroll to get your daily affirmation.

This is one is from Saturday, January 15th, 2022

"This week I will honor my growth by releasing anything that is keeping me stuck. Though I may find comfort in familiar things, I will choose growth over complacency. I am committed to having new experiences that are eye openin, elevating, and encouraging. Today and every day, I am my priority. I am a work in progress."

Today's take aways:

1.) We have to apply everything we learn in our self-care and therapy. We can not self-care or therapy our way out of life.

2.) Traveling is a way that we can practice self-care because it gives us the moment to sit down. Some of us just need to sit down.

3.) what if social media didn't exist? What would your world look like?

Ending word:

After the Rain by Alexandra Elle

PG. 117-118

PG. 17:

"I can make the hard choice that I've been avoiding. Those choices give me the courage to become who I say I want to be."

PG. 118:

"May you be brave enough to choose yourself even when others don't. Healing is a soft and slow process."

Always remember to love you the way you love the world!

I love you all!

Hey Faithers and Happy Monday!!!!  Today we have a special guest, LR Wilson. LR Wilson is an empowerment coach, author, and speaker!  This is episode 10, and we are actually introducing you to the Grief Beyond Death segment. Grief Beyond Death is a segment we do here at HealingSheGotFaith where we bring people from the community to discuss a time when they were grieving and how they overcame it.  LR Wilson came in and spoke from her hurt and gave a huge example of Grief Beyond Death by opening up and giving us the details of her second divorce and how it literally felt like death, but she was alive. She was fighting for herself.   Some takeaways: 1.) We are the gift. People who have genuinely gone through their pain and learned from it; are the gift. They have outlooks and perspectives that are unexplainable.  2.) Laugh. Life is painful, but we still need to laugh!  3.) Make sure you allow yourself to grieve! Give yourself that permission. You deserve it!    Please check out LR Wilson at: https://www.lrwilson.net. Check her out on all social media platforms! Facebook: LR Wilson Empowerment Coach  Linkedin- LaToya Wilson  Instagram: LRWilson_   Housekeeping:  1.) Check out, LR Wilson! She has some fantastic conferences coming up!  2.) We are still doing a Toy Drive for dogs in the no-kill shelter and elderly dogs. Please email me at info@healingshegotfaith.com  3.) Hey Faithers!!!

Happy Monday!

I am back and feeling better! I hope you all enjoyed the episode from last week because after recording that I was in the bed for the rest of the day!

How are you feeling today? It's the second week of 2022! How are you truly feeling? How can you embrace that?

Today we picked a card from the Self Care Empowerment:

"What is one thing I want most out of life? What is one small step I can take today to get there?"

LeLe's Answers:

I want to heal and I want love! I am a hopeless romantic, but I believe healing and love go hand in hand. I am not saying I am nothing without love, but I feel that I've had everything except love. My love life has sucked. lol. One thing I can do today is live by my quote "love you the way you love the world" and recommit myself to my healing.

Healing while traveling:

I discuss my first solo trip. It helped me:

1.) Invest invest in myself

2.) Put respect on my name

3.) Get myself together

Final words:

After the Rain bye Alexandra Elle

Section: Comparison (pg. 161-163)

161-

I am freeing myself of comparison and making space for understanding, empathy, and forgiveness.

I am a work in progress, and I will continue unravel and make space for ease as I learn my way and walk my path.

163-

Think of a recent comparison you've made in your life. Take another look and consider how comparing can teach you what you have, not whaat you're lacking.

Housekeeping:

But we do have to say Rest In Peace Betty White! She ran a good race and we're so sad to her go on to glory! We are sending her family and loved ones so much love and healing!

Today we picked a card from the Power Thoughts Deck by Louis Hay:

I balance my masculine & feminine side.(Front)

The masculine and feminine parts of me are in perfect balance and harmony. I am at peace, and all is well. (Back)

We picked two cards from the Fifth Agreement by Don Ruiz:

Card 1:

What Message am I delivering to myself? (Front)

When I deliver truth and love to myself, I am happier, and just by being happier, the people around me benefit. My efforts really for everyone, because my joy, my happiness, my heaven are contagious. (Back)

Card 2:

Doubt is a powerful tool. (Front)

Doubt challenges my beliefs and breaks the spell of all the lies and superstitions that control my world. I use doubt to recover faith in myself, to take my power back from every superstition I believe in and return that power to myself. (Back)

1.) Rest

2.)Clarification

3.) Different environment and perspective

While gathering this episode together I had a moment where I had to stop and breathe. I had to remind myself of my "WHY." What am I doing all this for? I had to remind myself of who I am.

Most people do not realize that "SheGotFaith" is a person. SheGotFaith is me. When I created HealingSheGotFaith my motive was to personally invite to join me on this healing journey.

Life has been hard. Transitions, heartbreaks, anxiety attacks, depression and fear have all attacked me this year and in the most recent days it has been even more difficult. However, while coming in and recording today's episode; I had a realization and I had to remind myself of who I am!

Today instead of picking a car I read from the book: After The Rain Gentle Reminders for Healing, Courage, and Self-Love by Alexandra Elle. I read from pages 45 & 203.

Always remember to love you the way you love the world!
