A) The prophecy that the man was reading, spoke of Jesus, but he did not understand what, or who, he was reading about. Philip helped him to LEARN JESUS.
It was prophesied that Jesus would...
- Die - Led to the slaughter as a sheep offered in a sacrifice for sin. (2 Corinthians 5:21)
- Die patiently - Falsely accused and abused but silent. (Matthew 27:11-14
- Die wrongfully - His justice was taken away. (Matthew 27:1, 23.)
- Live forever - He will live to endless and innumerable ages. (Revelations 1:18)
B) Jesus must be our FOCUS!
- Jesus means "The Lord Saves". (Matthew 1:21)
- It is only through Jesus that we can be saved from the power and penalty of sin. (Acts 4:12; John 14:6)
- At the last judgment, even those condemned will recognize and confess Jesus' authority and right to rule. (Philippians 2:9-11)

1). Both Jesus and Stephen looked at those responsible for their suffering and death and prayed for their forgiveness. This is an expression of COMPASSION and AMAZING GRACE.
2). The first step toward forgiveness is to see the other person as a HUMAN BEING, not as a source of HURT.

3). Our mercy and forgiveness of others is a signal of our AWARENESS of how much God has given us.

2). Before we can GIVE our lives for the gospel, we must first be willing to LIVE our lives for the gospel.

3). Denying Christ today may help to escape shame or suffering for the MOMENT, but will guarantee an ETERNITY of shame and suffering later.
Choose to believe and receive Jesus as Lord today.

1). The same FALSE ACCUSATIONS were brought against Stephen as were brought against Jesus!

2). Stephen took a stand for what was right. We do not need to be DEFENSIVE when false accusations are hurled at us; simple share our faith.

3). Stephen's holy confidence in speaking the truth leaves the religious leaders with NO ARGUMENTS. They could only throw STONES, and yet this still did not shake Stephen.
