Welcome to Opportunity Knocks with Michelle Wolf of EmpowHer Purpose! Every Thursday, I feature a new guest female entrepreneur. These episodes are here to give you insight into how to take, make, create and evaluate opportunities. So listen in, knock knock, and open the door!
Hiya! Happy Friday people have been loving these mini pods because they’re bite-size information on brilliant topics! Your host, Michelle Valenzuela Wolf, here with a new mini-episode reflecting upon the importance of connection, especially in midlife. So let’s dive in!
The kids are dropped off at school and you are finding yourself looking in now what?
Last week I published a New blog post entitled “Empower Yourself: Midlife Reflection on Connection,” on this very topic amd one of my favorites C-O-N-N-E-C-T-I-O-N and today’s mini-side gives you more nuggets!
I recently returned from a bucket list trip to the South of France with dear friends of 15+ years. It was such a magical time, not only because of the incredible setting, but truly we had the gift of time. Time to listen, receive and be present with one another. To listen to one another dreams and goals for our lives.
It was also a pivotal experience personally, an opportunity to connect with myself as well. I am one of those rare people who love long airplane rides, I do my best thinking and writing. I took a leap and then did it again.
Listen to learn:
🛝The importance of play
👯♀️ Why women are happier in midlife
3️⃣ ways to expand in midlife
Listen to my latest mini-episode, “Reflections on Mid-life Connection” and let me know if it resonates with you! Remember, community and connection are core and keys to success.
Do you believe money is energy? 💰Do you have a healthy relationship with money - whether that be earning, spending, saving or accruing more financial success? 🤔
One thing we know for sure is that money buys us FREEDOM and access. 💯 It doesn’t buy us happiness. This topic has been a consistent theme in my coaching practice over the last 4 years.
My guest on Episode 109 of Opportunity Knocks “Financial Freedom for Women,” Heather Pulier, Founder of Outset Financial, found herself divorcing and in debt of $12 million. She’s come out the other side and is now empowering women and their finances. 👩🏻🏫💰💪
Heather built a successful career in talent at the world-famous CAA before deciding to leave the workforce and become a stay at home mom. As she headed the household, she gradually became less involved in the finances.
After her divorce, she set out to make a change for herself and others. Not only did she become a therapist, she became a financial wellness expert, helping women heal their relationships with money and make choices that will improve their lives.
Money and love are complicated. For women, both are even more complicated by generational and societal norms. Our money stories are deeply rooted. I loved getting into all of this with Heather.
Our conversation touches on:
👩🏻🏫 Financial education for women
🤝 Marriage as a business agreement
🧑🧑🧒🧒 Generational impact of money and gender roles
🫣 Financial infidelity
🤔 Psychological relationship with money
📗 Money story and beliefs
❤️🩹Financial self-forgiveness
This episode is a must-listen for every woman who cares about her relationships and finances—so all of us! Enjoy Episode 109 of Opportunity Knocks, “Financial Freedom for Women,” ft. Heather Pulier! 🎙️🎧
I’m back with the second mini solo episode of Opportunity Knocks! The first, “Embracing Fear and Finding Freedom” was so well received that we have our second one coming out! Mini Pod ✌️lots of good quick nuggets.
Episode 108 “Empowering Your Leader Within: Leading with Confidence” is all about tapping into the leader we all have inside.👏🙌👑
In this 10-minute episode, you will learn:
🛠️ The tools it requires to be a great leader 🤗 How to embrace your inner leader
👂Why listening is key to leading
🤓 How learning is tied to leading
🪞 The importance of reflection
When I was younger, I wanted to be a backup singer — not the lead singer 🎤 As the youngest of three girls, I was used to following my sisters’ lead and didn’t see myself as a a leader.
As I grew, evolved and gained confidence, I realized there was always a leader inside me—she just needed more nurturing and experience to grow into the role of leadership.Im grateful I own it and see it!🙏👀
Throughout my career at Disney, Mattel and so
Many more cos of course as a mom and in entrepreneurship— all of these roles require me to show up as a leader. What are the roles in your life? Are you leading — or being led?👯♀️🤩🤷♀️
ATTENTION Calling fellow curious non-conformists! Kodi Kitchen Berg, Founder of Equipt, owner of Ojai Ice Cream and the former Dr. Maggie on General Hospital, is my guest for Episode 107 of Opportunity Knocks “Leading with Curiosity.”

Today on Opportunity Knocks, we have a special solo episode with me, Michelle Valenzuela Wolf, on one of my favorite topics: fear.
I love fear because it’s truly a catalyst. If you ask yourself “what’s the worst that can happen?” and dig into what could happen—most of the time, it’s not that bad.
Women are especially prone to letting their fears dictate whether or not they move forward— and the truth is that we are so much more capable than we allow ourselves to believe.
On the other side of embracing fear is FREEDOM! When you move forward knowing when fear is present, you are choosing power. You are choosing courage. You are choosing vulnerability. And regardless of the outcome, you stood strong in the face of fear.
We can do hard things. The greatest tools are already within you. Enjoy this mini-solo podcast, I can’t wait to hear what you think!
I’m so excited to share this extremely soul-centered conversation! Today on Opportunity Knocks, Ep. 104 “From Feat to Faith,” I’m excited to welcome Leah Zaccaria, yoga entrepreneur and Founder and Owner of Shefayoga.
My dear friend and yoga instructor Shayna Hiller introduced me to Shefayoga years back and it’s my favorite studio in Los Angeles. It’s a spiritual studio that really I go to become aligned. 🙏✨
With a masters in taxation, Leah began her career in the corporate world and quickly climbed the ladder, establishing herself as a powerhouse. But her soul knew this wasn’t her purpose, leading her down a path of personal discovery and growth.
By tapping into her intuition and leaving fear and the “should” behind by stepping into courage, Leah created a life and business she loves.
Listen to hear how Leah:
🧘🏼♀️ Broke through cultural and societal norms to find your personal definition of success
🧘🏽♂️ Found her true calling in yoga and life
🧘🏻♀️ Embodies courage and moves away from fear
🧘🏾♀️ Lives her truth, the ultimate freedom
From the second our conversation began, Leah was sharing relatable and inspiring insight that I know you’re going to love.
Enjoy Episode 104 of Opportunity Knocks ft. Leah Zaccaria!

Do you feel like you are ENOUGH? We all have had experiences in our lifetime where we were not only told we are not ENOUGH but we also don’t feel as if we fit in certain communities whether it be cultural, color, gender, race etc👨🏿👨🏾👨🏼 And let’s just say that some people feel this more than others to their core. I was blessed to meet Christopher Rivas at the Latino Hive IConnexcion a community of Latino/as that are disruptors in their industries and the world.
And while I knew that Christopher was an actor, it wasn’t until I heard him speak about his book "Brown Enough" that it truly hit home for me. Why you ask? Well, as a Germa-Mex Latina I never truly knew where I fit in. I wasn’t brown enough and I wasn’t white enough ever. People constantly mistake me for a typical “white” girl when I am so much more than my cover. His conversations in his book Brown Enough around love, violence, race, familia and immigrant parents really impacted me. They left me with thoughts around self worth and allowed me to rethink some of my foundational thoughts about what is enough.
Friends, this week we have the amazingly talented story teller, actor, author Christopher Rivas.✨🎧🎙️ He is the author of “Brown Enough” and a podcaster of Sirius XM’s stitcher and as an actor he is known for his work on the Fox series "Call me Kat." ✨ Our Episode 95th “BROWN ENOUGH” is available on all platforms. ✨ Transparently, I could not have guessed this episode would go to the depths that it did chatting on deep subjects like consciousness, silent retreats and personal growth! It was truly an honor to sit with him and learn about his journey! We also talk about the cultural barriers we face as well as the first-hand experiences and personal challenges around the thought of loving ourselves and accepting ourselves as enough!!
Tune in to hear more about -
😇Tapping into unconscious self
😇Understanding your life’s purpose
😇 Transformation journey of oneself
😇 Understanding your calling and tapping into truest potential

This 89th episode of the Opportunity Knocks Podcast 🎙 holds a special place in my heart. That’s why encouraging good communication and having sometimes hard conversations lead to deeper partnerships just like in my case with Josh. We have the opportunity to be the designers and architects to build our own lives! Our way!

When was the last time you said YES to a bold question and had a big gain⁉️ I would guess for many not lately! This week on the Opportunity Knocks podcast 🎧, I had the pleasure of interviewing the talented and FUN Kara Wang, an accomplished Asian American actress who brings the groundbreaking character of Sumi Liu to life in the show Good Trouble on Hulu for the past 5 seasons! 😍
During our conversation, Kara shared her journey in the entertainment industry, from making bold choices in her youth that lead to her success, to navigating the stark differences between her career experiences in Asia and America. Happy Thursday! And welcome back to a truly fun and enlightening episode of the Opportunity Knocks podcast. 🤗 My guest this week is the renowned actress, Sally Pressman, best known for her roles in Army Wives, Younger, Grey's Anatomy, and Good Girls (amongst many other incredible roles - too many to list them all). 🎬 Believe it or not, Sally is the first actress on the Opportunity Knocks podcast and as the first, she's made it really hard to top! 🍿
Our discussion was both fascinating and enlightening both in terms of her work in Hollywood and also regarding her views on life, family, success, and especially control - a topic that I released a blog on yesterday (good timing) and one that we dug into deeply during our chat. 🙌 She will open your eyes to so much and this episode will truly have you living a more fulfilling life.
Big shoutout to Lauran Parrish Walker, the Founder of ParrishLA & Chief Product Officer of Rachel Zoe, Inc., who introduced me to this INCREDIBLE woman. Sally, you are such a beautiful soul and light in my life, and someone I am so grateful to now call my friend. I could have spent forever talking to you and probably will in the future. 🙂
Don't forget to like and subscribe to the podcast so you never miss one of my amazing guests! 💝
Can you believe it's already February?! We're starting off the 2nd month of the year with a POWERHOUSE female entrepreneur, a good friend of mine, and someone who has an endless amount of advice and inspiring stories for my fellow entrepreneurs! This week on the Opportunity Knocks podcast, I sat down with Heather Turner, the CEO and Co-founder of Tamarack Capital Partners. Heather is a self-made rockstar who has taken a non-linear path to the success she's achieved which is one of the reasons her story is so valuable.
Heather has been involved in several billion dollars of real estate transactions throughout her career and has worked for some of the most storied companies in the world including The Walt Disney Company, Goldman Sachs, and even the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In her current role as the head of Tamarack, she oversees the acquisition, development, and management of hospitality real estate assets. The firm is currently invested in and manages assets valued at approximately $1 billion. She serves on a number of boards, both professional and philanthropic, and is a guest lecturer on real estate investments. Simply put, she's very accomplished, so gracious with her knowledge, and loves to help others seek out the best versions of themselves.
During our chat, Heather provides a lot of actionable advice including:
🔸 how to negotiate successfully
🔸 how small acts are what really lead to large impact
🔸 how women can be successful in male-dominated industries
🔸 when to take on partners in business and how to choose them wisely
🔸 and even some thoughts on how to invest in real estate 🤑
And that's just a sample of this conversation and all the value Heather brought to our amazing audience. It's not often that we get this level of access to someone who has achieved so much in life so trust me when I say, save this episode and listen to it often as you go out and work on your own ventures.
Thank you again to Heather for being so open with us. Don't forget that you can find Heather on LinkedIn and share this episode with your friends so they too can tap into all of this knowledge!
Carpe diem!
Happy Thursday! I'm back this week with a celebrity from California (even if you haven't heard of her yet) and a powerhouse on the national food scene. 🥪 Ellen Chen is the Co-founder of one of the most popular and successful restaurants in Los Angeles - Mendocino Farms, which has now expanded all over California and into Texas and Washington. 📈 She's living the American dream and her story will have you ready to live yours! 🙌
After graduating with a degree in economics from UCSD, Ellen became a consultant for Accenture Consulting firm where she facilitated the growth initiatives and improvements for top Fortune 100 companies. She then honed her business acumen at the marketing firm of Suissa Miller and a dot-com start-up called Target Marketing Interactive. After being part of the internet success of the 1990s, Ellen met Mario Del Pero and invested in his restaurant, Skew’s Teriyaki, which was one of the first fast-casual Asian concepts. Together, they grew Skew’s to three units in Los Angeles before selling the company in 2001.
Determined to lead through empowerment and build a thriving business, they created Mendocino Farms and opened their first unit on Bunker Hill in Downtown Los Angeles in 2005. Since then, Mendocino Farms has grown rapidly, taking its place as one of the most-loved and highest-grossing sales-per-square-foot restaurants in the neighborhoods they serve. Ellen and Mario set out to build a welcoming gathering place where happiness is always an order away with a focus on healthy and responsibly sourced ingredients - and they definitely accomplished their goal.
Ellen continues to offer the restaurant group a big business perspective with an entrepreneur’s passion. She's been named to Nation’s Restaurant News annual Power List, which recognizes the top 50 leaders who have changed the restaurant industry and she's a top advisor to various associations, boards, and charities, impacting the industry in a positive way.
Ellen covers a lot during this chat which you will definitely find helpful and inspiring. She touches on:
🔸 uncovering opportunities that may be hidden or overlooked
🔸 engraining her values into her business
🔸 how you can sell happy (you'll want to take notes on this)
🔸 the methodical steps needed to create repetitive success
🔸 the higher purpose of being able to change someone's day
🔸 aka some really powerful stuff!
If you're an entrepreneur or want to just make the world a better place, you need to listen to this episode and get to know Ellen better. She's definitely mastering both and has so much to teach us all. I'm so happy this interview finally happened! It more than lived up to expectations. Thank you Ellen for this time and for your incredible contributions to the hospitality industry and really, the world. Love you! 💖 Enjoy everyone!
How much do you know about mediums and psychics? Have you ever worked with one or witnessed one in action? Well, this week's guest on the Opportunity Knocks podcast is one of the most well-known, and for good reason.
Debbie Johnson is a Psychic/Medium with a special connection to the Angelic Realm and has been working with clients all over the world for 20+ years. She brings messages from your Angels to you. These messages include information about your future, your health, and any other subject where guidance is needed.
She began to see spirits as a small child, but when she spoke up about it, she was told to stop making up stories because no one saw what she saw. She re-discovered her gift in her 20s via music, which grew stronger when she studied Reiki. During Reiki sessions, Debbie not only saw and heard human spirits, but she also witnessed the magnificence of the Archangels and their abilities to help others. She would not have believed it, had she not seen it with her own eyes.
Debbie not only delivers messages, but she is also able to see into the spirit and physical body if needed and channel powerful healing energy that clears blockages and entities that can sometimes be the cause of physical and mental illness.
In addition to the readings, Debbie is a Usui Reiki Master/Teacher who has been practicing Reiki for 20+ years. Combining her connection to the Angels along with her Reiki training, she can produce healing music and guided meditations to aid both the spirit and body in maintaining health and happiness.
This conversation was SO POWERFUL. We cover topics including:
🔹 the difference between a psychic and a medium and how their gift works
🔹 how to address and overcome fear
🔹 how to protect your energy
🔹 what is angel time?
🔹 and so much more!
There's a reason Debbie and I connected and it was so special to have this chat and bring her to you. This topic may be new and interesting for many of you so message us with questions if you have any! Thank you so much, Debbie! It was truly an honor. 🙏
Want to work with Debbie? She's available for Readings via phone and Zoom, as well as in person. Get in touch via angelicmessages.com!
What role does food play in your life? Is it a net positive or a negative? And how does it impact things outside of your physical health? Did you know it's as important to your brain as it is to the rest of your body?
My guest this week on the Opportunity Knocks podcast has answers to these questions and so much more. Chef Anne Thornton is a classically trained chef known for creating delicious, nutrient-dense, plant-based food to help people heal themselves. She's extremely knowledgeable about nutrition, sustainability, and the impact our food choices and habits have on our health, as well as on the health of the planet. She works with top nutritionists and doctors to create food to help her customers eat their way to their happiest, healthiest, most aligned lives.
You may have had chef Anne’s plant-based creations at Little Pine in LA; while Anne was Executive Chef it was named Vegetarian Restaurant of The Year. Or maybe you’ve eaten some of her delicious baked goods at The Waverly Inn in NYC. Or you’ve seen chef Anne cooking up a storm on TV, either as a guest on one of the national talk shows or on her own Food Network show Dessert First with Anne Thornton. Or via Áine Organics, a project based on her vow to only create healing, whole-ingredient, sustainable, plant-based food.
Tune in to learn SO MUCH about food, health, and life as we touch on things like:
🔸 How she transitioned from a renowned pastry chef to a plant-based chef focused on upending the detrimental impact the conventional food system has on our health and the health of the environment.
🔸 Why your EQ is more important than your IQ.
🔸 Why rituals are such a large part of her life.
🔸 What women actually talk about (it's not what's portrayed in the media).
🔸 Why she only surrounds herself with people who lift her up and hold her accountable.
🔸 Why meditation is such a big part of her life.
This conversation was so enlighting and I'm so happy to have Anne as a new friend. You can have her celebrated plant-based food delivered to your door in LA, Oakland, Orange County, and San Francisco through CookUnity (more cities coming). You can follow her on Facebook or Instagram @chefannethornton for simple + delicious vegan recipes that you can make anywhere in the world. Enjoy!
Today's episode of the Opportunity Knocks podcast is mystical. 💫 Because my guest is truly a spiritual mystic. Ele Keats is the founder of Ele Keats Jewelry - a company and a brand born of a spiritual assignment and the mother of invention.
Guided by a dear mentor and friend to wear an emerald close to her heart every day, Ele set out on the treasure hunt of a lifetime. When she couldn't find exactly what resonated with her, she designed it herself. It became her signature "Divinity". And that's how Ele Keats Jewelry came to be. It has now grown into a global brand known for shepherding the finest gemstones and crystals from all over the world. And while the brand is incredible the person behind it is even more so.
A Crystal Shepherd, Ele is a natural treasure hunter of the earth. 🌍 She follows her inner guidance when choosing crystals and is always grateful to unite the crystals with their human companions.
Ele focuses on the healing and supportive aspects of each gem. After many years of working with crystals and gems, she is attuned to the stones. She considers her pieces gem medicine. ⚕️
With a deep understanding of the intimacy of jewelry, her intention is twofold: to make each piece beautiful, bearing in mind the healing properties of the stone.
During our conversation, she teaches us about this and so much more (she's filled with knowledge 🤯) including:
💎 the power of / following your intuition
💎 why she considers her brand a community service business
💎 what is an erotic creature
💎 how she created all of this with a high school degree and no other formal education
💎 running an intuition-based business
💎 crystals, reiki, mediums, channeling, pendulums, ghost encounters, and so much more!
AND don't miss our very first full-on dance session on Opportunity Knocks! 💃🥰
A huge thank you to Ele for such a raw, intense, fun, loving, and educational chat. And go check out Ele Keats Jewelry. The perfect holiday gift awaits and these gifts are literal life changers in such a positive way!
I love you and I'm so grateful for the start of this incredible friendship. 🤗
OK, this story is wild! 😲 My guest on this week's episode of the Opportunity Knocks podcast is Natasha Sizlo, the author of All Signs Point to Paris - A Memoir of Love, Loss, and Destiny. Quick summary: A surprising astrology reading sends Natasha Sizlo—divorced, broke, freshly heartbroken, and reeling from her father’s death—on an unexpected but magical journey to France, in pursuit of a man born on a particular date in a particular place: November 2, 1968, in Paris. 🗼
Sound wild? Sound fascinating? It is! Beyond fascinating. And it's all based on the real events that Natasha lived during an unexpected, rollercoaster time in her life. 🎢
This is one of the most riveting episodes of this podcast to date 🤯 and that's saying a lot given the guests I've had on here. 💯 You will find yourself laughing, on the verge of tears, feeling hopeful, feeling inspired, and believing you can do anything (maybe even talk to an astrologer 🔮).
Natasha is an INCREDIBLE storyteller. 📖 Her life's story is simply, wow!! 👀 And needless to say, her book is an absolute must-read! In fact, this is the perfect gift for yourself and all your friends this holiday season! 🎁👉https://amzn.to/3Uix6dz

Black Friday is coming earlier this year! 🙀 And I'm giving my biggest discount of the year! 😍 Intrigued? 👀
Well, this week on the Opportunity Knocks podcast I'm sitting down with my amazing friend, Scott Chalk to give everyone some FREE coaching advice, just as I would my paying clients. If that's not a Black Friday deal, what is?!?! 🥳
Seriously though, this interview is a favorite of mine. 🤗 As I do from time to time, I had Scott flip the mic and ask me some questions. 🎙️
He did so from the perspective of a good friend but also by putting himself in the shoes of a client. And Scott is uniquely qualified to do so. He's an Emmy award-winning Creative Director with in-depth industry knowledge in:
🎬 directing complex 360-degree content programs
🎬 developing engaging content
🎬 leading high-performance teams to drive initiatives through produced content...
...and he used this experience to ask me about topics I constantly see in my comments and DMs.
You'll hear him ask me questions like, how you coach someone through:
🎙️ getting what they want out of life or their career
🎙️ listening to receive as opposed to responding
🎙️ fostering a healthy relationship with their boss or employees
🎙️ addressing negative people in their life
🎙️ attracting (the right) people into their life
🎙️ listening to and leveraging their intuition
🎙️ and so much more!
So sit back, pretend you're my client for the next 50 minutes, 🥰 and allow me to coach you on some of the hottest and most relevant topics my clients are bringing to me these days. I promise you'll get immense value out of this but you get it all for FREE! Don't be surprised if you're messaging me afterward for your next session. 😉😉
I hope you enjoy this conversation with Scott and me as much as I did. I'm so blessed to have someone like Scott in my life, who has never stopped championing me and supporting me through every endeavor I've taken on. As we enter the Thanksgiving holiday I am definitely thankful for the people like Scott in my life. 🙏
Enjoy everyone and happy Tuesday!
Wow wow wow. Are you in for a treat. 😍 This week on the Opportunity Knocks podcast I'm chatting with Sheila Darcey, the Founder of SketchPoetic and author of Sketch by Sketch. Sheila's story is everything we celebrate on the Opportunity Knocks podcast.
This story begins with a personal commitment to sketch daily, which soon became a catalyst for transformation. It also led to a greater purpose of elevating art as a tool for self-reflection, self-care, and healing.
Art helped Sheila sketch and paint her way through complex emotions and process conscious and unconscious thoughts. The benefits of this practice became evident in her mental and emotional well-being and a therapeutic tool in helping her process anxiety and trauma. As a result, she made it her mission to share this practice with the world and to help others find their own way.
During our AMAZING conversation, Sheila touches on
🔹 How art can actually heal, mentally and physically
🔹 What it means to listen to your body
🔹 Growing up with trauma and overcoming it
🔹 Sketching vs. drawing 😲
🔹 Personal growth and emotional healing
🔹 The theme of presence and being in the moment
🔹 Perception based on output vs how someone feels 🤯
🔹 Doing vs. being
🔹 Balancing and celebrating body, spirit, emotion, and intellect EQUALLY
🔹 and so much more!
Sheila's passion for what she does and more importantly, helping others heal through art, is palpable, even through a podcast! And that's why her work is so powerful. She lives to help and serve others through her endeavors. It's really really amazing.
So,
1️⃣ give this podcast a listen (you will fall in love with Sheila and her story).
2️⃣ Go get her book, Sketch by Sketch. It will change your life in positive, unimaginable ways. AND with the holidays right around the corner, it is THE PERFECT GIFT for your favorite people.

Two male guests in a row! 🥰 This week's episode of the Opportunity Knocks podcast features a very special guest and a very special cause - Movember!
Did you know that:
🔹 In the US, men die 6 years earlier than women.
🔹 4 out of 5 suicides in the US are men.
🔹 1 in 8 men in the US will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime.
The numbers are pretty staggering and most people, men and women alike, aren't as aware of these things as they should be. So my guest this week, Jason O'Mara has teamed up with the organization to help increase awareness and raise money to fund men's health projects all over the world. And he did it for very personal reasons. During our time together, Jason speaks to the fact that he is so passionate about this work because he likes supporting the idea that men should talk to each other more. Men need to communicate more and be ok with saying they are not ok and need help. If this doesn't align with everything I am and work towards, what does?!?! 🙌🙌🙌
During our discussion, he'll dig into this but also tap into:
🔹 highlights of his career and how acting became his life's journey
🔹 the importance of the arts and creativity
🔹 why it's important to be the first one to make a move
🔹 why play needs to be a centerpiece of life if you want to stay young
🔹 how to make ideas real (get them out of your head!)
🔹 how to stay disciplined
🔹 the importance of showing up!
Jason's story about how he broke into Hollywood and became a sought-after actor is incredible and you'll absolutely find it fascinating, but his insights into life, his core values, and the things we should be prioritizing in our lives are what you'll really find astounding about him. Jason is an incredible human and his story is one that will change you and inspire you. This is definitely an episode you won't want to miss. I had so much fun during this one, which you will see via my numerous laughing breaks. 😂😂
And for those that want to get involved with Movember, it's not too late! You can learn more at Movember.com and/or start with a shave (just your face 🤣) and start on your mustache-growing journey!
Ladies and gentlemen, you are in for a treat! ⏩ the dangers of living in a microwave society

Neidda and I have had so many incredible life experiences together and she knows me better than most so she's the perfect person to pull everything out of me that you've been dying to know. In this episode, we focus on all of the changes I've made over the last year, the growth I've achieved across all aspects of my life, and most importantly how you can leverage all of it in your own.

So as a transformational coach, I always out new ways to help my clients, and then fully immerse myself in them to test them and become an expert in them so I can serve my clients better.
So I get asked a lot about the things I am doing to achieve transformation, better myself, deepen my self-love, and grow professionally. This episode will give you a glimpse of what that looks like for a transformational coach ranked in the top 1% of United States coaches. 🤗
We cover A LOT but for those who know me and Neidda, you know we kept it fun and informative. 🎈 Topics I know you'll enjoy include:
🥰 Ensuring the goal is to always come from love
🧑🤝🧑 Friendship leading to community
Why I believe the word kind is undervalued
💝 How I came to realize it's not about fixing myself, it's about loving myself
😊 The fact that happiness is a presence
⚓ Why you need to be anchored in order for your branches to grow
☯️ Balancing the feminine with the masculine
So join us for this amazing episode and get to know more about me but more importantly about YOU and some things you can incorporate into your life to transform.
Another year down and they just keep getting better. And that's because of a conscious effort to create the life I want to live.

Have you ever been in a seemingly great situation but felt unfulfilled and contemplated leaving to find something more aligned with your purpose? If you answered "yes" or even "maybe" then that's a sign that you NEED to tune in to this week's episode of the Opportunity Knocks podcast.
My guest this week is Pamela Salzman, a certified holistic health counselor, full-time cooking instructor and chef, and best-selling author of ✌️ cookbooks. 👩🍳
Early on in Pamela's life, she thought she had arrived. She had graduated with a degree from an Ivy League university, she got her MBA, and she had experience in the beauty and film industry with a promising career ahead. Then she had her first child and left it all. After some reflection, she decided not to jump back into it because she just didn't feel any love for it and felt it was lacking the meaning she was after in her life.
Pamela always had a passion for food and nutrition and wanted to help people grasp the importance of proper nutrition and eating real food. She was participating in cooking groups and ended up being asked to teach a “healthful cooking class” for a group of young mothers. Her passion and opportunity collided! A business grew organically from that first group and she knew she had a message and a new mission in life.
Pamela is now widely known in the food, cooking, and nutrition world and has two best-selling cookbooks focused on healthy meals that don't require a degree from a culinary school. She's also sought after for her cooking classes that teach fairly easy methods using ingredients that can be found in a local supermarket to create dishes that can be served to a whole family.
During our conversation she touches on:
🔹 her journey to becoming an entrepreneur
🔹 why perfection is the enemy of progress (especially when it comes to nutrition)
🔹 real-world examples of how to improve your own diet and relationship with food
🔹 the difference between weight management and wellness
🔹 and of course, the values that drive her
Pamela will give you hope if you're searching for your purpose and a more fulfilling life, and you'll definitely be checking out her website, classes, and social media pages to up your cooking and nutrition game! Enjoy! 💖
This week's episode of the Opportunity Knocks podcast calls for a shot of tequila! My guest this week is Mara Smith, the Founder of Inspiro Tequila - an ultra-premium tequila brand created, run, and made by women, for women (but really everyone will enjoy it 😋).
Mara is a former attorney, corporate strategist, and stay-at-home mom. She began her legal career at Mayer, Brown & Platt in Chicago before joining the corporate strategy team at McDonald’s Corporation. After her twins were born prematurely, she decided to leave the corporate world to focus on her family. However, she never stopped thinking about what was next. She always envisioned running her own company and in 2020 set out on her journey to create a tequila brand.
Mara started drinking tequila when she was looking for a clean, gluten-free spirit that fit her active lifestyle. She searched for a brand that was additive-free with a look, taste, and aroma that appealed to her. That perfect tequila did not exist so she decided to create it. The goal was not just to create a one-of-a-kind tequila, but to bring another female voice to the spirits industry. Women are involved in every part of Inspiro Tequila’s process - from creating the taste profiles to getting bottles on the shelves.
Additionally, Mara’s mission is to inspire and support other women on their entrepreneurial journeys through financial support and mentoring.
During our discussion, we touched on topics like:
🍹 honing skills as a parent that translate into success in the business world
🍹 why she has women running every part of her business
🍹 the difference between an additive-free brand like Inspiro and other tequilas
🍹 the importance of an advisory board that features diverse areas of expertise
🍹 why she hasn't raised outside capital
🍹 and how her mother and grandmother inspired her entrepreneurial journey
What an inspiration. It was a pleasure to chat with someone doing so much for women in a male-dominated industry. You're going to get a lot out of this episode and be itching to try Mara's tequila! I've tried it since our conversation and it is remarkably smooth.
¡Salud! and enjoy your week everyone!
DID YOU KNOW: Women who leave the workforce for more than 2 years have less than a 50% chance of ever getting a full-time position again...for the rest of their life! My conversation with Samantha Ettus on this week's episode of the Opportunity Knocks podcast was very inspiring and uplifting because she's focused on ensuring that this stat is a thing of the past!
We're heading into the long with an episode that will have you totally rethinking the way you see the world and implementing change to achieve the financial independence you deserve.
My guest this week is Samantha Ettus, award-winning author, mother of 3, serial entrepreneur, and founder of Park Place Payments, a women-owned company fundamentally changing the experience businesses have with their payment processor. She's an advocate for women and all underrepresented communities (that's putting it lightly) in the payments and financial industry.
Our conversation covered topics you definitely want to learn more about including:
💳 Reframing the conversation about raising money for your business, especially for women
💳 How she founded Park Place Payments and turned it into a company that gives opportunities to people who traditionally don't get them
💳 Why women need to start talking more about investing
💳 How to achieve financial freedom
💳 How Park Place Payments is winning with industry-leading customer service
💳 Why women need to prioritize their own dreams and why it's important to model that for your children
💳 And so much more!
Samantha is well down the path of creating a billion-dollar company that is changing the financial industry for the better - on top of the thousands of women's lives she impacted through her books and career. She's the advocate we need and it's a pleasure to share her story with you and help spread the word about everything she's doing. So make sure you give this episode a listen today, tomorrow, or over the long weekend and you're enjoying some much-needed R&R or time with friends and family. This one's a life changer!
Happy Thursday!
It's Thursday and wow, are you in for a treat! This week I am chatting with Lauren Parrish Walker, the Founder of ParrishLA & Chief Product Officer of Rachel Zoe, Inc. My conversation with my Libra sister was so raw and I think you're all going to love learning from someone who has worked in some of the most sought-after fashion jobs in the country, including founding her very own brand (more than once)!
With names like James Perse, Ella Moss, Yaya, Brochu Walker, ParrishLA, and Rachel Zoe, Inc. under her belt, Lauren is quickly becoming an icon in the fashion industry and it's easy to see why. She possesses many special gifts including the vision of the greats combined with the toughness of a New Yorker and a loving, vulnerable leadership style you don't see very often.
During our conversation Lauren opened up about:
🤍 living from a place of love
🤍 working part-time vs full-time all while being a great parent
🤍 how family shapes everything she does
🤍 vulnerable leadership and the lack of good leadership training out there
🤍 taming her ego
🤍 the impact of her mom and breast cancer awareness
🤍 coping with and bonding over loss
🤍 and how laser-focus has enabled her to create successful brand after successful brand after successful brand!!!
A big thank you again to Lauren for showing up as her true, vulnerable self and always spreading the love. The essence of you is truly gorgeous. Don't miss this episode. It will change the way you look at the world, your life, and entrepreneurship.

Get your tissues out. Episode 62 of the Opportunity Knocks podcast will definitely touch your heart in a powerful way. 💝 This week I had the pleasure of sitting down with Erica Fisher & Melanie Neumann, the Co-founders of PRESENT NOW.
PRESENT NOW was founded by Melanie and Erica in 2013 and is solely focused on addressing the needs of children who are affected by parental abuse. Their Presents Program was created to respond to the growing demand from shelters to provide their resilient children with additional resources that can aid in their emotional recovery and wellbeing. From storing gifts in their garages and having their own children volunteer, Melanie and Erica grew the organization into what it is today - a powerhouse charity organization that has delivered 11,093 presents, impacting 7,030 children and families in 62 shelter locations across the United States.
During our conversation we talked about:
🔹 how Melanie and Erica literally used Google to start PRESENT NOW
🔹 how they decided that children experiencing domestic violence would be their cause
🔹 how not being afraid to ask questions has enabled them to succeed
🔹 how they've raised money and developed corporate partnerships
🔹 how staying true to their mission led to the growth they've experienced
This episode is for you if you want to learn more about what goes into starting a philanthropic venture, but more importantly, if you'd like to learn about ways you can get involved in PRESENT NOW's mission of helping children affected by parental abuse. 92% of the kids involved are showing measurable increases in confidence in school and prior to their involvement, many had never received a gift before in their life. 💔 But PRESENT NOW is changing that and changing lives in such a positive way.
Want to get involved and support PRESENT NOW? On April 22nd they will be holding their 2nd annual Give Love & Be Loved Benefit. All proceeds will go directly towards PRESENT NOW’s mission of providing children in domestic violence shelters with experiences and gifts that bring them joy, comfort, and relief during a time of crisis.
Get your tickets at presentnow.com
And don't forget that they are always looking for adult and child volunteers to help out. So check out presentnow.com to learn more about how you and your kids can give the gift of time and get involved as a volunteer!

Why do only 1.7% of female founders reach $1 million in annual revenue? 😲 On this week's episode of Opportunity Knocks, we'll dig into this with the founder of The Badass CEO.
Mimi is a mom of 5, an entrepreneur, a Business School Grad, a CPA, and an angel investor. She started her career in Investment Banking at Kidder, Peabody, and went on to obtain a CPA while working at Price Waterhouse in NYC. Retail was a passion of hers, so she then became a buyer at Bloomingdales. She studied Entrepreneurship at Columbia Business School and started several companies along the way, including one of her newest ventures, Baby Barn Organics.
On top of all that, Mimi is an angel investor and has invested in many companies that she believes in, including Beautycounter. She loves working with other entrepreneurial women who have started businesses by mentoring and investing in their companies. She's also a Beautycounter Managing Director and built a successful team of 800 consultants.
What isn't she doing? Not much!! Which is why this conversation is going to be so helpful to a lot of you. If any of you feel like you're juggling a million things, allow Mimi to give you some insights into how she does it, and successfully at that.
Plus ➕ she goes into great detail about:
💸 Why your business should be able to run without you
💸 Raising capital for your business
💸 The power & importance of systems
💸 Angel investing
💸 Outsourcing work based on your hourly rate
💸 The importance of empowering your children
💸 What traits are common amongst successful women
💸 and so much more!
Mimi is a great friend of mine and it was a pleasure to chat with her. I know her very well and I'm still amazed by her story and learning more about how she does it all...and still finds time to lift up, mentor, and invest in so many women around her. This is such a great episode of Opportunity Knocks. You're probably going to want to save it and return to it again and again.

Is there an age at which it makes sense to build a startup or become an entrepreneur? 🤔 Allow my next Opportunity Knocks guest to SMASH 👊 whatever preconceptions you have about starting a business.💸
Talk about a special human being! 🥰 It was so much fun and such a special time for me to sit down with my good friend, Yunnie Kim-Morena, the Founder of Kim-Chi Avocado and someone who is quickly becoming a very prominent digital creator in the food space.
Yunnie's story is fascinating. She originally decided to follow a path in fashion and opened her first boutique at Fred Segal before launching Fred Segal Couture with the iconic Fred Segal Santa Monica. But when Fred Segal sold half of its Santa Monica retail compound in 2012, Yunnie began exploring opportunities outside of fashion.
In 2013, her mother announced that she was ready to hand over the reins of Santa Monica Pier Seafood and Yunnie and her husband (Greg Morena) decided to take the helm of the Pier mainstay. The moment marked a shift for Yunnie who renamed the restaurant The Albright and together with David Alvarez of Studio Alvarez, oversaw a complete revamp of the building and interiors.
Yunnie and her husband now own and operate The Albright under their EST. 1977 Group, a boutique restaurant group specializing in the revitalization of legacy businesses and curated food concepts. Under Yunnie's direction, the group has rapidly expanded.
All of which led to Kim Chi Avocado which launched in late 2019. It's a passion project that combines the California lifestyle with her Korean roots that celebrates food and the ways in which nourishing meals connect people. Do yourself a favor 🛑 stop what you're doing, and go check them out right now. Order one of her grazing boards for your next gathering and you'll understand why this new venture has taken off. 😋
Yunnie is more than an inspiration in the business world, she's an incredible and loving person and her passion will rub off on you as you listen to her insights. You're going to learn a lot and probably want to chase your passion project once this chat is over.
This week's episode of Opportunity Knocks is beyond inspiring and packed will first-hand knowledge and experience from a founder with a VERY successful exit to her name. Shannon Nuques's rise from paralegal to co-founder of GLAMGLOW, one of the fastest-growing skincare brands in the world, will blow your mind. 🤯
It all started with a fast-acting skincare treatment and sample jars filled by hand. Nicknamed Hollywood's "Magic Mud" mask, the product snowballed in popularity, landing first in Neiman Marcus and then in Sephora stores around the world.
Ultimately GLAMGLOW was acquired by Estee Lauder, a dream-come-true achievement Shannon attributes to passion, determination, and hard work. A former paralegal, she researched and learned every step of the way, discovering a wealth of creativity and an entrepreneurial spirit she never knew she had.
She could have stopped there, but after welcoming a second daughter, Shannon and her husband Luciano spotted a whitespace opportunity in the baby business. What if they could give children's clothing a fun, artistic twist?
Together, they started exploring what it would take to make eco-friendly apparel and accessories with bold, playful prints - manufactured locally in LA instead of overseas. Gracyn Sky debuted in 2021 with an adorable, artistic aesthetic not seen anywhere else in the baby world.
Yes, I'm thinking what you are...Shannon is simply amazing.
And during our chat, she also gave some insight into:
💡 Bootstrapping/funding a startup
💡 Evaluating risks and rewards
💡 What it's like to have a co-founder
💡 What's most important when starting a business
💡 And the characteristics she believes help drive success.
If you're an entrepreneur or want to be one don't miss my talk with Shannon‼️ CLASS IS ABOUT TO BEGIN and I guarantee you won't want to miss it.

This amazing episode is the last Opportunity Knocks of 2021 (sad but true - time to take a break sisters), and it's fit for a rockstar 🌟...which is certainly what our guest is (although she didn't bring her guitar, she did bring her strong voice 🙂). In this episode, I sat down with Ashley Lewis, the Co-Founder and CEO of Fleur Marché (dubbed the Sephora of CBD 😍). Honestly, I can't say enough about how much I enjoyed learning about her, but Ashely's resume speaks for itself -
🤩 She launched the wellness business vertical at Gwyneth Paltrow's Goop @goop (this is when she first became obsessed with CBD)
🤩 She launched @classpass's Los Angeles business working on partnerships Nike, Reebok, Sweetgreen, Outdoor Voices, and more
🤩 She was a brand manager on the Barbie Global Brand Team @mattel (let's face it most Ex-Mattel people are rocks stars we may have been there together🌟)
🤩 Oh and she has an MBA from Stanford and a BA from Penn
Clearly, this is an episode you don't want to miss! Ashley and I crossed over so many categories of her journey (including the real-life of motherhood and working from home as an entrepreneur) I truly did not want this interview to end. Listen in to find out more about -
✨ Her path from corporate executive to startup builder
✨ Why she wanted to reframe the narrative around cannabis and CBD
✨ How she and her partner built a cannabis-focused company that overcame stigmas and focused on women in ways most other companies weren't
✨ The benefits of CBD and why she's such a proponent
✨ Why simplicity sells and how to talk to a target audience
✨ How to succeed in a partnership with your close friend
✨ And so much more!
Simply put, Ashley is the epitome of the female entrepreneur we champion on Opportunity Knocks and EmpowHer Purpose. 🌟 Her story is incredible. 🌟 You're going to learn a lot from this chat and feel so inspired.😍😍😍🙌🙌🙌
This will be our last NEW podcast for the year but wow, was it the perfect ending to an incredible year. Every interview I leave feeling more educated and elevated than the last! So many amazing women in store for 2022 you will not want to miss out! Thank you Ashley for all that you're doing in the cannabis space and for women around the world. 🌎
Fleur Marché is truly a brand that has become known for its high standards, rigorous vetting process, and impeccable curation when it comes to CBD and plant-powered wellness. So if you want to try the wellness patches or any of their other amazing products (you know I am a sucker for good marketing and Fleur Marche is bomb!) they launched this year 🙋♀️ use code: OK15 for 15% off now through December 15, 2021 at fleurmarche.com. The reviews are in and these things are amazing! 🤗
How does one of the top transformational coaches in the U.S. think about
💸 evaluating opportunities
👩🏻🤝👩🏽 creating communities that integrate business and wellness
⚖️ leaning into values
🙏 and the importance of gratitude?
We made it 50 episodes ✨ and we're celebrating 🍾 by flipping the mic and interviewing...ME 🥳 where I dig into each of these topics and more. If you like seizing opportunity - listen in!
For this special podcast, I had the honor of sitting down with my friend, an Emmy award-winning journalist and incredible podcast host herself, Nina B. Clarke, to flip the script and dig into my own thought process on a variety of topics.
I get a lot of questions about
👉 my methods
👉 how I achieve success with clients
👉 how I practice what I preach
👉 and why the integration of business and wellness is so important
So I thought it was time to open up and get raw with my amazing audience. And Nina has such an incredible way of pulling out the best from the people she interviews. It was an honor to do this with her.
So let's celebrate 50 episodes together! And if you want to learn even more, ask away in the comments or DMs.
The gratitude I have for all of my listeners and guests cannot be overstated. Thank you for joining me on this journey. I have so many more amazing guests coming. Here's to 50+ more! 🥂

Hooray for Friday! Tune in for my latest episode of Opportunity Knocks with Shannon Buth, creator and owner of House of Shan. What started out as a mom's group, became a community with the mission to LIVE WHAT YOU LOVE. Shannon’s background in fashion was eventually one of the things that inspired her to start The House of Shan clothing and accessory line centered on embracing our imperfections and lifting each other up.
We talk about the symbolism of the imperfect heart that is her signature and the love and passion that brought her dream business to life. This little idea started as a way to give back to a local charity and has grown into so much more. Each piece in her collection is adorned with an imperfect heart stitched over your heart as our daily reminder to 'live your passion, laugh every day, love deeply, and never quit your daydream'. In other words, 'LIVE WHAT YOU LOVE'! $5 from every purchase supports a women’s charity. It can’t get better than that! Tune in now!

I am so fortunate to surround myself with AMAZING women! Cha Barefield joins me on Opportunity Knocks today all the way from North Carolina. Cha is an inspirational speaker and talk show host. She is not afraid to speak her truth at full volume. I was so inspired by her words.
Cha creates connection by pushing the needle toward love and believing good will find good. She heard opportunity knock when she discovered some of my words and I am beyond excited to share our conversation about all the other opportunities she has embraced on her journey.
