I'm back with a new season (yes I will continue to pretend every long break between episodes is on purpose) and this time I'm trying to treat some brand new symptoms and situations. I am basically both Moulder and Scully during any interaction with alternative medicinal practices, and acupuncture is no exception.

In this episode, I pretend that my mental breakdown was actually just a break between season 1 and season 2. I also destroy the Love Languages to the best of my ability and take a look into the homophobe who invented them. Happy to be back, friends!

Ex-Evangelical correspondent Gabby remembers her time in Freedom Sessions, a sort of 12-Step Program for Evangelical "sinners" a.k.a. basically anyone. Digressions include magic mushrooms, psychosis, and why you should always pray with the door open in mixed company.

This episode includes me believing in astrology, me not believing in astrology, and a BuzzFeed quiz reinforcing my kind-of, sort-of belief in astrology, which is of course not real. Do I believe in astrology? Me, a bisexual millennial artist? Listen and find out! (wow, very bossy, what an aries)

Paul and I continue our talk about the LDS (aka Mormon) Word of Wisdom. No coffee (probably), no alcohol (maybe), and other restrictions create a perfect environment for obsession and perhaps addiction. If you haven't listened to the first part of the conversation go back one episode!

Please tell your friends if you like this podcast, and/or pray for me. I will also accept good vibes and monetary donations.

Paul is back to talk about mormonism and this time we are chatting about hot drinks! Mormons are not allowed to drink coffee or tea but it's a complicated rule that has changed over the past 150 years. We talk about drive-throughs for soft drinks, whether or not diet coke is allowed in Mormonism, and who you can visit in sad heaven. This episode is especially for our friend Amelia who is extremely amazing and we are thinking about her. Follow me on Instagram and make sure you subscribe to the podcast.

UPDATE- I previously released this episode without any sound. It was just the theme song and then silence. My brain withdrawing from benzos and I forgot to give it a quick listen before I posted it. But here are my thoughts on more bad advice from therapists that I've collected, with more than a few digressions along the way.

Therapists are not always right. They are not always wrong either, but when they are, terrible things can happen. Email me your therapy horror stories at sarah.jickling@gmail.com.

On the advice of my current therapist, I push through exhaustion and withdrawal symptoms to bring you this episode featuring some of the worst things a licensed professional counselor has ever said to me. If YOU've had some terrible therapy experiences, please come talk about it on the show! We can all learn from each other and know what to watch out for in the future.

Soon-to-be regular guest Paul comes on to talk about growing up in Mormonism and the things that led to him leaving the religion in his late 20s.  We discuss losing faith, being agnostic atheists, and living with cognitive dissonance. We don't even get to the part where you get your own planet, so this is definitely a part one.

I try to come to the defense of the light yellow flag word "holistic" and I definitely don't defend the super red flag word "homeopathic." These two H words come up a lot in the alternative medicine world along with another H word, herbal, which I realized way too late in the episode to properly discuss it.

Here's the resources I was discussing when talking about homeopathy. These people are MUCH MUCH better at explaining it than I am.

Behind the Bastards- The Bastard who Invented Homeopathy

Ross and Carrie and the Homeopathic Overdose

Sawbones - The Father of Homeopathy

If you want to skip straight to the interview with Zane, it starts approx. 24 mins in. This week I discuss transcendental meditation, my experience with it, and I chat with a friend who grew up meditating and introduced me to the technique. Is it helpful? Is it expensive? Is it a cult? Are The Beatles involved? Find out the answers to some but not all of these questions in this episode. If you wanna check out Zane's stuff, follow him here, and definitely stay tuned for the upcoming bonus episode where I release our chat about the music industry, Zane's dad's amazing work using singing to find out who you are, and who is actually cool (spoiler: it's everyone listening).

A very unfiltered rant about why I want to make this podcast. Topics include Teal Swan, transcendental meditation, and my failed attempt to join a cult.
