Exploring limiting Core beliefs, and all the stupid things we do, think and say - that limit us, define us and make us human. And then all the stupid things we do which are FUN!! Because growing up is overrated.
So I had a really lovely long chat with Rachel Wilson - who may sound familiar as she was on episode number 1. If you haven’t already listened to that - you may want to check it out as it is all about her journey “From Corporate to Hippie”. We chatted for almost 2 hours so I thought I would break it up in to more bite sized chunks if you will - highlighting some of the topics we discussed. In this we discuss gratitude.
You have probably heard people talk about having a gratitude practice, or having positive affirmations and Mantras and the like.
You may have tried them out for yourself with some success or maybe you have had some frustrations with it like me.
Rachel and I discuss a little of my frustrations with it and where I am now and Rachel shares her thoughts on it as well.
If you struggle with this as well – just know – you are not alone. And just because some people make it out to be super easy, it doesn’t mean it is, and you don’t always see other peoples struggles - especially on social media.
SO here is me, sharing my struggles and how I found a way to make it feel right for me.

Georgie Claxton is Pilates Teacher and Physiotherapist with a special interest in Women’s Health, Pelvic Health, pelvic floor and SIJ dysfunction.
We had a super interesting chat about her journey with perfectionism, from being a dancer to having chronic back pain at a really young age – how she started Pilates to help with it all – to then becoming a Pilates teacher, Physiotherapist and finding a love of women’s health.
She now continues her studies to dive deeper into Women’s Health and runs workshops and seminars in Women’s Health for corporate, Yoga and Pilates studios. If that is something that interests you, you can DM Georgie on her Instagram.
The beautiful thing I picked up from talking to Georgie is that she really walks her talk. She wholeheartedly sees and embraces the individual humanness in her clients and looks at pain in a holistic way. As she helps her clients to move and feel better – she does the work for herself and her own pain.
Georgie has a really beautiful energy about her and is full of excellent, super motivating sayings which you will hear throughout this episode. She also has some exciting plans to develop more content in the future around her physio practice, Women’s Health and mobility talks and training.

She is one very cool and powerful human, that has such a strong passion for helping others. In this episode she talks about her journey to finding NLP, how she went against her family expectations of a corporate job in finance to follow her passion of helping people to be bold and brave.
She also talks a bit about how NLP helped her on her personal and relationship journey and all things NLP and her upcoming NLP certificate training in July.

Me me me me meeee and M.E
It is M.E/CFS and Fibromyalgia awareness day today - 12 May 2022.
In this episode I touch on, what checking in with yourself means to me and how it has helped me navigate living with quite a life changing chronic illness.
M.E aka M.E/CFS aka Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
I guide you through a short check in with yourself, similar to what I lead my students through at the beginning and end of a Yoga Class or private session. I believe it is not only an important part of the practice, but also a great tool to utilise in your everyday life. It has helped me grow in so many ways and most importantly accept myself as I am - flaws and all.
I hope it inspires you to try a toilet meditation the next time you go.

A short episode with some random things that have happened over the last week. From nervous Poos about a new Seniors Class I am teaching for Term 2 at Glenbrook Yoga Space.
My adventures to Katoomba to pop in to Ashlynn’s Retreat from Awaken Health and Wellness and the careful drive home through the fog, rain and seriously dark neighborhood.
How rough I was the following morning with ME/CFS symptoms and went to drink my coffee out of the plunger.
Some of those thoughts that keep you up at night – Like the origin of the term blow job that I had to google.
And the 2012 Street Directory, I reminisce on how we use to use them, how much we use to get away with and how much has changed since.

In this episode I am chatting with Amy McDonald. I have been listening to her “Abundant Yoga Teacher podcast” for years – so it was pretty cool having her come on to my podcast.
Amy is a self-professed Yoga nerd, Yoga business coach and Yoga teacher.
And to give you a bit of early insight into this episode – Amy and I are hilarious!!! Even if we only think so ourselves – because ultimately, we found ourselves pretty entertaining. And we probably could have kept on going and going and going – without any clear destination in mind. Just ‘shooting the shit’ as Amy refers to it.
Aside from us being obscenely hilarious – You will hear about a run in Amy had with an ironing board and treadmill, the idea of Karma in the modern world, words that erk us, how Amy sees limiting beliefs from a yogic perspective, some of Amy’s limiting beliefs and an interesting story about farts vs queefing in Yoga.

How to take a compliment
This topic is one that is close to my heart as I struggled for the better part of my life to accept a compliment. I just didn’t believe it. And if anything I was unknowingly quite mean to anyone who dared pay me one.
I have also met many many people now that struggle with it as well!
So, I wondered – how much of my unwillingness to take a compliment stemmed from my upbringing, my family, friends, school, being shamed, being put down for all sorts of shit, never feeling like I could do the right thing at home, constantly being told I am not enough, not girly enough, not thin enough, not sweet enough, not pretty enough
Am I not pretty enoooough. (yes I know you sang that a little in your head too)
Or is this simply a cultural thing – of growing up in Australia. Tall poppy syndrome that gets imbedded in us from a young age.
Or possibly a combination of all the things. Is there even a definitive answer….. maybe on an individual level.
But I am not here to answer the question to that mystery. I am just here to ponder and to offer up a way of working with it as I did myself.
So here is my story, of how I learnt to take a compliment.

The title of this episode really should have been – Farts are funny. As Ashlynn and I really bonded over that fact. Never fear though! It’s not all fart talk, but we did start there – and it is pretty funny.
In addition to farts – we also dive into Ashlynns significant limiting belief around her intelligence, and her journey to becoming a high school Visual Arts, Photography and Positive Psychology teacher. Ashlynn also shares some thoughts about the education system, the importance of play and mindfulness and her wellbeing toolkit.
Ashlynn has a beautiful studio based in Warrimoo NSW. She runs regular workshops incorporating yoga and creativity for the young and old. She runs regular yoga classes in person and online and she is also a Health Coach.

This episode is with me, your host Catherin Zimbounellis.
Hello, its me…… I thought that might be a song but it has disappeared from me. So….
This is my significant limiting belief story. And it was quite emotional to record surprisingly. It is My journey from living a life of shame around my body, being in a perpetual fight with my body and mind and the world……………to self-acceptance.
I was a self-professed master of self-deprecation, which was nurtured over a lifetime – to the point I didn’t realise how negative it had all become. How toxic it was in my life to myself and to those around me.
I never felt like I fit into this world, and I was told I would have been perfect for the renaissance period because big women were in fashion then. But growing up, I looked very different to everyone else. I was never skinny – but when I look back, I wasn’t really fat either – I was just built different. I was solid! But even knowing that – it didn’t help. Because I didn’t look like my friends, or what you saw as the ideal in the media – which back then was very slim, no curves, just straight up down.
Not! Me!
Once puberty hit – definitely not me! Boy oh boy did my body explode with hips and boobs and shoulders and thighs! The perfect hourglass shape I was told. Great childbearing hips! Which is not appealing to a 13 year old girl. And as it turns out – never came in handy anyway! Kinda like algebra.
I reveal what changes I made, to help shift my mindset and help start believing I had something to offer, I had some value – and ultimately how that helped me on my journey to becoming a yoga teacher. Also, how it helped me when I developed a chronic illness.

In this episode I am chatting with the ever-lovely Carol Fung and how she moved through her limiting beliefs to create her business Seeds of Wonder – which is now 3 years old and going strong! We also discuss her fun stupid thing she loves to do – and how much of kindred spirits that makes us.
Be prepared for some laughs – even if that is just from us! I hope you enjoy it - we definitely did making it - and we were honestly lucky to squeeze it in just under an hour.
Carol - Seeds of Wonder – the important bits
Seeds of Wonder is an online eco-friendly yoga and wellbeing store based out of Sydney, Australia.
Working with independent makers in Australia and beyond, Carol sources eco-friendly yoga, smudge and wellbeing products, which she offers alongside her own handcrafted mala necklace and bracelet collections.
Carol is a passionate, if very wobbly yogi, who fell head over heels in love with the world of yoga when she discovered it was so much more than Downward Dogs and Sun Salutations on a yoga retreat back in 2014.
The idea for Seeds of Wonder was born a few years later in 2018 during a silent meditation retreat amongst the beautiful rice paddies of Bali.
Through Seeds of Wonder Carol hopes to inspire and support others to shape a life that offers more balance, connection, happiness and health.
From yoga mats with alignment guides, gratitude journals, re-energising smudge kits through to mala necklaces to help focus the mind in meditation, every Seeds of Wonder product has been carefully selected to make living a yoga lifestyle easier and to support a more mindful, balanced life.
