https://gotohealthmedia.com/how-project-2025-will-change-healthcare-in-the-united-states-7-impact-on-public-health-programs/Project 2025 will have enormous negative impact on Public Health Programs funded by our 50 State Departments of Health. State public health programs are funded by a combination of State tax revenues and generous Federal revenues given to the States on an as-needed basis. Project 2025 will greatly reduce Federal funding to the States, and necessitate cutbacks in programs and services which manage and maintain public health.Red States will suffer more than Blue States because Red State tax revenues and budgets are smaller due to lower household incomes. Examples of the programs that will be effected:- Educating the public about diseases and prevention- Managing vaccinations and public health emergencies- Safety standards for workers, and compliance- School nutrition programs- Tracking and reporting statewide data for coordination at the Federal level
https://bit.ly/cancerdrugshortageThe FDA is reporting the worst cancer drug shortage in three decades - preceding the Covid 19 Pandemic. Why? Generic drugs are now manufactured mostly overseas, and there is a shortage of qualified drug manufacturers. All U.S. medical institutions are scrambling to acquire these drugs in shorty supply, whether they be large medical institutions, rural practices, pediatric practices, or clinical trials.Drugs are now being rationed among patients, particularly in rural and pediatric clinics, forcing reduced dosages or lower frequency, or poor drug substitutions. What can we all do about it? Follow the 3-point Plan of the American Society of Clinical Oncology. Call your Representative and Support the Plan.
https://bit.ly/hyundaihopeonwheels-gthEvery half hour an American child is diagnosed with cancer. While this is a terrifying disease, there is still plenty of hope. https://bit.ly/P2025pregnancyabortionProject 2025 lays out highly charged statements about gender identity and sexual orientation, demanding huge changes in the federal government's approach to “The redefinition of sex to cover gender identity and sexual orientation and pregnancy to cover abortion should be reversed in all HHS and CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid) programs as was done under the Trump Administration." “The next conservative President must make the institutions of American civil society hard targets for woke culture warriors. This starts with deleting the terms ....", followed by a long list of expressions "reproductive health", "reproductive rights", and "DEI."Watch the complete video to learn more.
https://bit.ly/P2025pregnancyabortionThis video details how Project 2025 wants to redefine the family in terms of Christian and biblical values , despite the fact that one in three children in the US lives in a non-traditional family. Despite the Project 2025 claims of the American family in crisis, research evidence shows that “...mounting evidence indicates that underlying factors — such as strong and stable relationships, parental mental health, socio-economic status and access to resources — have a greater impact on child success than does family structure itself.”Project 2025 also wants to eliminate Head Start, with numerous accusations, despite multiple studies confirming the program's effectiveness.Watch our video to learn a lot more.
https://bit.ly/P2025pregnancyabortionNot only does Project 2025 want to abandon abortion nationwide, it wants to a) stop foreign assistance to any nation that approves of abortion and b) rewrite United Nations and World Health Organization policy documents, policy statements, and technical literature to eliminate any mention of the procedure or training of professionals.Watch the complete video to learn more.
https://bit.ly/P2025pregnancyabortionProject 2025 outlaws abortion. Period. And goes beyond the Dobbs decision reversing the 50 year precedent of Roe v Wade, advocating for a national ban on abortion and abortion medications.Project 2025 proudly claims:"But the Dobbs decision is just the beginning. Conservatives in the states and in Washington, including in the next conservative Administration, should push as hard as possible to protect the unborn in every jurisdiction in America."Watch the complete video to learn more.
https://bit.ly/P2025pregnancyabortionWith the overturning of Roe v Wade, States are now free to set their own laws concerning abortion. Women are now traveling to states that allow medical care of the woman's choice.Project 2025 now claims, "Because liberal states have now become sanctuaries for abortion tourism, HHS should use every available tool, including the cutting of funds, to ensure that every state reports exactly how many abortions take place within its borders..."Additionally, Project 2025 states “Comparisons between live births and abortion should be tracked...” which means all pregnancies will now be tracked.Watch the complete video to learn more.
https://bit.ly/P2025pregnancyabortionWe introduce Project 2025's effect on family definition, gender identity, pregnancy, abortion, and foreign assistance. As we’ve spoken of before, traditional conservative values and Project 2025 believe in smaller federal government, believing that controls and management are best handled locally rather than at the federal level. What is so notable then, is that Project 2025 makes a radical departure from conservative values and promotes national and even international regulations regarding family definitions, gender definitions, pregnancy oversight and abortion. Regarding the family, gender, pregnancy and abortion, they make clear that there should be national policy rather than state policy. And they believe this policy should be along the lines of traditional Christian values, imposing those values on the entire country and the world, as we shall see. Additionally Project 2025 claims that those approaches that do not conform with Christian values are seen as suppression of religious freedoms, despite the fact that not all Americans subscribe to these religious behaviors in their own lives. And these topics are of such utmost importance that more words and pages are spent on these topics than any other topics in healthcare.

https://gotohealthmedia.com/how-project-2025-will-change-healthcare-in-the-united-states-video-5-impact-on-medicare-and-medicaid/In this Video 5 in our Series, we detail how Project 2025 will drastically change Medicare and Medicaid as we know it today. In essence, Project 2025 views Medicare and Medicaid as the source of our US Budget deficit, and that if eliminated, our budget would be balanced. This is a completely inaccurate assessment of our budget deficit, and a political bias against the shared Federal and State support for those with disabilities, children, seniors, and those with low incomes. Also revealed are:the work requirements to be imposed upon those vulnerable populations on Medicare and Medicaid, the inefficient bureaucracies to be established by regulating medical care solely at the State level, andthe view that Medicare and Medicaid are “run-away entitlements” for those in true need of medical services. We encourage you to watch the full brief video, and share this factual data with family, friends, and neighbors so that we all make the best informed decisions in our November 2024 elections.

Physical and Mental Well-beingOutdoor Activities: Scouting emphasizes outdoor activities, which promote physical fitness and mental health. After months of lockdowns and limited physical activity, participating in hikes, camping, and other outdoor adventures can be revitalizing.Mental Resilience: The challenges and problem-solving aspects of Scouting help build mental resilience, which is particularly important for children recovering from the stress and uncertainty of the pandemic.3. Educational SupportSkill Development: Scouting programs teach practical life skills, such as first aid, leadership, and problem-solving, which can complement formal education and help make up for some of the learning gaps experienced during the pandemic.Structured Learning: The merit badge system in Scouting provides a structured way for kids to learn new skills at their own pace, encouraging lifelong learning and personal development.4. Emotional SupportSupportive Environment: Scouting offers a supportive community where children can express themselves, share experiences, and find guidance from adult leaders and peers. This support system can be crucial for those struggling with post-pandemic anxiety or depression.Positive Reinforcement: Achieving milestones in Scouting, such as earning badges or ranks, provides positive reinforcement and boosts self-esteem, helping kids regain confidence that may have been shaken during the pandemic.5. Sense of NormalcyRoutine and Structure: Regular meetings, activities, and events provide a routine that many children lost during the pandemic. This return to structured activities helps re-establish a sense of normalcy and stability.Traditions and Rituals: Scouting traditions, such as ceremonies and campfires, offer a comforting sense of continuity, helping kids reconnect with familiar activities and experiences.6. Family InvolvementFamily Scouting: Scouting programs often encourage family participation, allowing parents and siblings to join in activities. This can strengthen family bonds, especially after the stresses of the pandemic.Parental Support: Through Scouting, parents can play an active role in their child’s recovery, working together on projects, attending events, and supporting their child’s Scouting journey.Scouting can serve as a bridge back to normalcy, helping children regain lost skills, rebuild social connections, and restore their confidence and well-being after the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

https://gotohealthmedia.com/how-project-2025-will-change-healthcare-in-the-united-states-video-4-impact-on-private-insurance/A significant component of the Affordable Care Act (passed in 2010) is its insurance mandates, designed to expand coverage, improve healthcare quality, and reduce costs. These mandates encompass a range of requirements for individuals, employers, and insurance companies, aimed at creating a more inclusive and efficient healthcare system. Project 2025 proposes deregulating private insurance markets. They argue deregulation will lead to more competition and lower prices. Deregulating insurance markets therefore may not lead to better healthcare for less money.Deregulation may produce the opposite.Without the ACA mandates, insurers may begin charging for these services or not covering them at all. This could lead to a decline in preventive care, resulting in higher long-term healthcare costs due to the increase in untreated conditions and late-stage diagnoses.Deregulation of the insurance market under Project 2025 and Agenda 47 will not guarantee the same level of insurance coverage or same quality of healthcare as under the Affordable Care Act. Deregulation will encourage insurance companies rather to maximize profits, at the expense of insurance coverage and health outcomes.Subscribe to our Channel to view all the videos in this 9-part Series.https://bit.ly/GoToHealthYouTubesubscribe

Instead of the Federal Government providing funding as needed for:insurance marketplacescommunity health clinicsAccountable Care Organizations (ACO’s)and Emergency ServicesProject 2025 will replace this funding with limited Block Grants to each State, thereby producing significant savings at the Federal level. The States’ uneven ability to provide medical services, due to varying household incomes and tax revenues by State, will create an undesirable patchwork of healthcare services and insurances across the 50 States, reducing health outcomes across America.

While the topic of mental health has become less taboo in recent years, many still struggle to talk about it or seek out help. Data from the National Institute of Mental Health revealed that less than half of adults with mental illnesses (only 47%) received mental health services in 2021.Words matter, and one of the best ways to reduce the stigma around mental health is to talk about it openly, with inclusive language, and encourage others to do the same. Thursday, May 16 is Mental Health Action Day, and it encourages and empowers people to take action for themselves, their loved ones, and their community.Dr. Polo discusses the importance of remembering that the mind and body are connected. The poor condition of one can lead to the poor condition of the other. He reminds us that mental illness is not a stigma, but rather a condition that needs to be talked about, managed, and healed, just the way we handle any other health condition. Mental issues are a part of life, and the best way to deal with them is seeking professional help, often beginning with your personal or family doctor.

https://armcompression.comMillions of individuals suffer from poor arm circulation which can result in significant arm pain, in shoulders, elbows, wrists, fingers and associated muscles and ligaments. This includes those with health conditions such as arthritis and joint pain, cancer, carpal tunnel syndrome, diabetes, hypertension, Raynaud’s Disease, and repetitive strain injury. Numerous products are on the market such as squeeze balls, compression sleeves, and constriction bands, but none of them increase circulation and relieve arm pain. Other options require medical appointments or electricity, both of which tie the individual down to a place and time.Tej Singh, MD MBA, Stanford trained vascular surgeon and Founder and CEO of Fist Assist Devices, LLC has invented a battery-powered arm compression wearable that provides intermittent focused massage of various parts of the arm to increase arm circulation and reduce arm pain. This is the world’s first wearable hands-free battery-powered arm massager that provides pain relief and improved circulation on-the-go. This device is safe and FDA 510(k) cleared and is now on sale for a recommended price of $99 in the United States.
Tegria (tegria.com) is a nationwide and international consulting firm that works with health organizations, non-profits, and employers to identify improvements in processes and teamwork, and help their patients, audiences, and workers benefit from truly humanized healthcare.Humanized healthcare means that each patient is recognized and treated as the individual each truly is, without cookie cutter approaches, biases imposed by members of the care team or even technology (as you will learn in this Show), or inefficiencies or delays due to cross-discipline lack of teamwork. We learn about barriers to care, which can include appointment and hold times that don’t work for patients in need, geographic or time inaccessibility due to distance, understaffing, or inadequate facilities, and biases that can easily have a negative effect on care due to age, ethnicity, gender, race, or communication ability. We learn too about Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) – how where we live, our socio-economic background, our degree of education, and cultural and physical environments determine up to 80% of our health outcomes, despite the level of care provided. You’ll learn a lot about solutions in this presentation with Theresa Demeter, MHA, the Managing Director of Clinical Solutions, for Tegria, a powerful and successful convergence of health consulting organizations who have deep expertise in analysis, process improvement and technology.

Every once in awhile, we invite a health expert on the show who is also engaged in the arts. While medical science is the language of facts, research, data, diagnosis and treatment, the arts is the language of the heart. And when we combine the language of medicine with the language of art, we round out our total human experience to combine factual knowledge with emotional, social, and spiritual content. We have the pleasure of speaking with a practicing physician who expresses herself in the language of poetry. She has just published a book of poems titled “A Doctor Only Pretends – Poems about illness, death and in-between.” Dr. Abby Caplin also lives with a chronic health condition which inform her work as both a physician, patient, and poet.In this interview, we hear about the transformation those with chronic illness can achieve in transcending their physical pain and discomfort to understand what their higher love and purpose is in the world. And we get the added treat of understanding this through the art of an award-winning poet.Enjoy the insights you will glean in this show. You can reach Dr. Caplin at https://abbycaplinmd.com and purchase herpoetry book at https://amzn.to/3Nfq5HL.

As well as presenting general pointers on writing accessibly, the webinar will provide advice on preparing readable papers and proposals. It also will address writing understandably for general audiences and for non-native readers of English. Throughout, examples and guidelines from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control will be integrated. Whichever readerships you generally serve, this webinar can aid in communicating effectively.
The Americans with Disabilities Act and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines require web properties to be accessible to those with disabilities. Websites that do not comply can be subject to legal claims, with lawsuits increasing 300% in 2021 alone. Both large corporate and small business websites have been sued, resulting in out-of-court settlements, legal fees, and significant dedication of time. Patient access to their physicians is a primary mover for healthcare improvement in 2020’s. One of the ways to enable close connection and communication is through easily useable mobile phone apps which allow patient input and secure data sharing with a chosen doctor’s office.
By playing games on your phone and answering questions about how you feel, the BeCare app can generate objective measurements of changes in your neurologic function, your cognition and your mood. It captures data about what meds you have been on and the benefit you experienced, the frequency and nature of your MS flares, your mood, your diet and exercise and your family history. The data is linked to the computer of any physician you select, and your physician can use the information to modify your treatment as appropriate.
In this presentation, Dr. Charisse Litchman discusses their award-winning app for patients managing their multiple sclerosis symptoms, and how it helps both patients and their health professionals monitor progress and adjust treatments.

Let’s have an honest conversation about stress, anxiety and depression. They are not simply symptoms of family history or chemical imbalance. Often Glen Alex has seen in her practice that these expressions of poor mental health are caused by poor, weak, or NO boundaries. She's seen so many cases of how poor boundaries contribute to poor mental health. But saying “No” is not the only boundary you need. The unwillingness to say no, the lack of awareness of harmful people, and unhealthy expectations can lead to anxiety, depression, stress, and overwhelm, which all negatively impact mental AND physical health. Tune in to learn how you can improve your health by developing healthy boundaries, the foundation of mental health and wellness.
We go to work every day, and spend one third of our lives making a living, interacting with others, and conforming to organizational norms. We want to feel valued and honored in our place of work, so that we know the work we are doing is productive and appreciated. Yet how many places of work recognize the value and input of their staffs? According to research, only one third of us feel comfortable and secure in expressing our feelings and opinions in improving productivity and quality of life on the job. Jonathan Marx, MBA discusses “Evidence-Based Medicine – EBM” – the standards that guide medical science and practice in the United States and many countries around the world. EBM is the ideal that healthcare professionals should make “conscientious, explicit, and judicious use of current best evidence” in their everyday practice.
We discuss the Covid-19 pandemic, driven by the novel SARS CoV-2 virus, which has offered the public an unusual glance into the medical scientific methods of gathering data, understanding and coding the virus, developing vaccines, and putting them through the rigorous clinical trial process to bring life-saving solutions to the marketplace.
You will also learn the terms “meta-analysis”, “systematic reviews”, and the “clinical trial” and “drug approval” process, so that when you hear or read these terms in the news, you are better informed as to what is happening in research and actions taken by our various health agencies.
Various examples of the developing science behind diseases and disorders will be used so that you better understand the scientific method behind medicine today, and you can distinguish between established facts, unsubstantiated rumors, and the development of medical knowledge.

In the US population as a whole, sun damage is the major driver of the increase in skin cancer in general and the accelerator of aging of the skin. Skin cancer is the most common cancer in the United States. More people are diagnosed with skin cancer each year than all other cancers combined! The American Academy of Dermatology estimates that one in five Americans will develop skin cancer in their lifetime. Skin cancer can metastasize and kill. Its treatment can be disfiguring especially on exposed parts of the body which get a lot of sun damage. Aging of the skin is also accelerated by sun damage. That golden tan we aspire to can result in leathery and wrinkly skin as we get older. Think ahead…. and protect yourself reasonably. Our guest, Dr. Jeffrey Schneider, MD dermatologist and researcher, served at Kaiser Permanente in Northern California for over thirty years and was Chief of Dermatology. He is now Associate Professor in Dermatology at the University of California San Francisco, completing research and public education projects on sun protection. In this interview, Dr. Schneider discusses the basic mechanisms of damage for each kind of cancer and simple steps of sensible sun protection which can help reduce risk. We can have fun in the sun when we respect the limitations of exposure and take easy precautions. Download Dr. Schneider’s sun protection TIPS at https://bit.ly/GTHsunsafety
Tiffany Shlain, Emmy-nominated filmmaker, Marshall McLuhan Book Award Winner, Founder of the Webby Awards, and Albert Einstein Foundation Genius, joins us for a delightful and informative conversation about the future of work in a hybrid world – working in combination at home and in-office, and how to balance what can be an endless, always-on, always-receiving life with a weekly day off to rest, rejuvenate, process, and envision our lives for next week and beyond.
With humor and wisdom, Shlain shares her story, offers lessons she has learned, and provides a blueprint for how to do it yourself. ”Bolstered with fascinating and germane facts about neuroscience, philosophy, psychology, and the history of the concept of a day of rest” (Publishers Weekly) the national best-selling book 24/6: Giving up Screens One Day a Week to Get More Time, Creativity, and Connection (Winner of the Marshall McLuhan Outstanding Book Award) makes the case for incorporating this weekly reset into our 24/7 lives, issuing a call to rebalance ourselves and our society.
Abby Caplin also lives with a chronic health condition which inform her work as both a physician, patient, and poet.
In this interview, we hear about the transformation those with chronic illness can achieve in transcending their physical pain and discomfort to understand what their higher love and purpose is in the world. And we get the added treat of understanding this through the art of an award-winning poet.
Enjoy the insights you will glean in this show.
You can reach Dr. Caplin at https://abbycaplinmd.com and purchase her poetry book at https://amzn.to/3Nfq5HL.

Tegria (tegria.com) is a nationwide and international consulting firm that works with health organizations, non-profits, and employers to identify improvements in processes and teamwork, and help their patients, audiences, and workers benefit from truly humanized healthcare. Humanized healthcare means that each patient is recognized and treated as the individual each truly is, without cookie cutter approaches, biases imposed by members of the care team or even technology (as you will learn in this Show), or inefficiencies or delays due to cross-discipline lack of teamwork.
With all the media attention on Covid-19 vaccines and how they were developed, we thought it would be a good idea to educate you on how clinical trials are designed to test for safety, effectiveness, and scientific proof required before approval by the Food & Drug Administration (FD) allows a substance to be available on the market. Joseph Sameh, former founder of Medi-Connect and Phone Screen helped 50+ pharmaceutical companies recruit and retain patients for hundreds of clinical trials to test new drug formulations prior to going to market. How do we recognize, acknowledge, and heal burnout, especially in healthcare? Mamta Gautam, MD and psychiatrist to health professionals, has seen the Covid pandemic first hand through the eyes of the medical professionals she serves. The healthcare system, like our world, has been called VUCA – Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, Ambiguous. For many of us, and particularly healthcare professionals, and especially women among them, this environment has created enormous burnout. Dr. Gautam describes the three stages of burnout and how to recognize them in oneself and others. She discusses her journey to creating wellness programs for doctors, as a leader in the field, and caps off the show with her 5 C’s of resilience – the steps we can take from burnout to joy, by reframing what we do have control over. We are not victims of our environment, but rather have control over our emotions, interpretations and actions, even in what seems like an uncontrollable situation. Visit https://peakmd.ca.

Are you embarrassed about your weight, the shape of your body, being out of shape, or disabled in some way? So many folks are out of touch with their bodies due to shame. If shame created health results, then everyone would be thin in a society that stigmatizes fat bodies. But shame keeps us inactive, hidden, feeling sorry for ourselves. This one-of-a-kind program created by Bevin helps folks make peace with the only body they are ever going to have. Clients come to this program, often shy and reluctant, and leave with a sense of pride, confidence in movement, improved abilities to socialize with the bodies they have, and most importantly, a smile and satisfaction with what they have just experienced in Bevin's Fat Kid Dance Party. https://fatkiddanceparty.com
Are you suffering from knee pain, hip pain, shoulder pain? Did you know there is a proven alternative to surgery? This is amazing. Our body produces stem cells which are used throughout life to heal injury. Medical technology is now able to extract your own stem cells, process them, and inject them back into your body where it hurts. And this therapy, called regenerative medicine, is now keeping people out of surgery for years or perhaps life. Just think. No surgery. No long recovery time. No drugs or chemicals. Just processed stem cells from your own body. What a miracle. And now medical science has found it. Tune in to hear Anthony Hartley, whose company MedAdvisor advises patients, employers, and doctors on regenerative medicine. https://www.medadvisor.co/ JF3S0Oevl3OYahKY96FY

We receive subtle and not-so-subtle messages communicating fear, leaving us concerned about our health, uncertain about being around others, isolated physically, mentally, or both, and worried about the future. The world has changed. A new norm is on the horizon, and that can feel scary. The good news is that each of us is in charge of our thoughts and feelings. Meditation can help each of us recognize the places in our lives where we hold fear and where we may be using fear as an excuse to remain the same. Join us Beth Shaw, a pioneer in Wellness, Yoga and Fitness guides us through the power of meditation and its benefits in focusing our intentions, motivation, and personal power.

Prof Rucklidge describes practical ways to use nutrition to better feed the brain. https://thebetterbrainbook.com/.......... SHEILA Z STIRLING, PHD covers what changes in the season mean to changes in our bodies. How to enjoy Spring, with tips on allergies and reducing them. Dr. Judy Ford has used her background as a geneticist and cell biologist to research and discover WHY and HOW we age.
Armed with this information, she has written a book called ‘Why We Age’ in which she explains the biology of aging in an all-inclusive way for the first time. Judy Ford PhD is a geneticist/cell biologist who herself has contributed some significant research in the field of aging.
In Why We Age, Dr. Ford puts together many of the currently disparate theories and explains how the various ‘theories of ageing’ need to be considered together rather than as separate and/or competing ideas. Because of her unusual cross-disciplinary knowledge, Dr Ford is able to explain how all the pieces of the complex puzzle fit together: Telomeres, Senescence, Fat Metabolism, Mitochondria and Inflammation are all part of this one encompassing explanation that is easy to understand.
We are honored to share this enlightening interview with you so that YOU can pursue health aging in consultation with your own physician.

“Cancer: The Integrative Perspective” takes a deep dive into the fast-expanding paradigm of holistic and integrative wellness approaches for preventing and reversing cancer that treats the disease with conventional tools, while also supporting patients’ strength, stamina and quality of life with evidence-based natural therapies. We’ll be discussing: why cancer is on the rise and what we can do about it no matter age or predisposition and the acceptance of “alternative medicine” has significantly increased, and there has been an influx of pioneering medical doctors.
This episode has two parts. First, we'll discuss colon hydrotherapy and the numerous benefits a cleansed colon can bring to your overall health that enemas, and laxatives don't achieve.
Second, you have to share this interview with friends, parents, teachers, counselors – anyone who wants to help a child develop more productively. Sam Goldstein PhD and Robert Brooks PhD have collaborated on their fourteenth book, and this one outlines the three survival instincts in humans from birth which don’t serve us so well these days, and the seven innate instincts which all people have from infancy which can be nurtured and determine the course of one’s life. These two masters present positivity and hope for peoples’ development at all ages in life, backed by robust research and decades of counseling and therapy expertise. A must see for those interested in developing souls in your care.

Patients who exhibit anxiety, depression, substance use or mood disorders, or obesity, can often have an underlying condition of ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder). It is wise for these patients to get screened for ADHD. Conversely, ADHD patients and their providers should be on the look-out for these same symptoms, and perhaps treat them early on if advisable. These are known as comorbidities, or co-occurring symptoms. An 8-country European study among 17 medical centers is just concluding which documents these comorbidities and tests lifestyle changes to see what improvements are experienced. Tune in to learn more. Visit the study site at https://coca-project.eu/

SEGMENT 1: ADHD FACTS FROM WORLDWIDE RESEARCH Misconceptions about ADHD abound. Originally thought to be a disorder in young boys, scientific research has proven it exists equally in both genders, and is present throughout the life-span 67% of the time. With what we know now in science, it’s time to get the truth and facts out.
The World Federation of ADHD, of which Dr. Faraone is current President, has published the International Consensus of 208 Conclusions about ADHD, its challenges and misunderstandings. Federation Members from around the world curated these findings with a strong evidence base. The empirically supported statements are approved by 80 authors from 27 countries on 6 continents, and also endorsed by 366 people who have read and agree with its content.
We’ll be reviewing major findings from this collaboration. Join us as we learn the facts about ADHD, in children and adults, around the world.
SEGMENT 2: FORGETFUL AND DISORGANIZED? OLD AGE OR ADHD? Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is commonly associated with children who are inattentive, distractible, impulsive, and fidgety. However, ADHD persists for many children into adulthood and older age.
Unfortunately few clinicians are aware of this lifelong disorder and easily discount memory and attention decline to getting older. ADHD in older adults occurs in approximately 3% of the population. Because they were likely not diagnosed earlier in life, troublesome symptoms may likely be attributed to old age rather than the underlying, lifelong, undiagnosed condition of ADHD.
How and when to seek medical advice is discussed.

SEGMENT 3 - ADHD PATIENT EDUCATION AND REMINDERS VIA 2-WAY TEXTING SOFIA (Simple Online Family Intervention for ADHD)
SOFIA is an evidence-based health intervention to support families of children with ADHD. SOFIA sends reminders and educational messages about your child’s medication and treatment, how to handle daily activities, school, family relationships, and ADHD in general.
A customized personal experience, SOFIA sends reminders and educational messages about your child’s medication and treatment, how to handle daily activities, school, family relationships, and ADHD in general.
ADHD is a prevalent condition, affecting at least 10% of children and 5% of adults. If untreated, it is associated with a wide range of adverse outcomes including depression, bipolar disorder, addictions, criminality, car crashes, and traumatic brain injury, among many others.
Despite strong evidence that medication treatment for ADHD is safe and effective and mitigates many of these very serious outcomes, adherence to treatment is extremely poor.
We developed an APP based on text messaging called SOFIA (Simple Online Family Intervention Intervention for ADHD). It not only improves adherence, but also educates and supports patients and families with ADHD

Empowerment is defined as the process of becoming stronger and more confident, especially in controlling one's life and claiming one's rights. The question is what does it take to become empowered? Is the desire for controlling one's life and claiming one's rights universal, or does it differ by society and culture?
In this one hour, I interview Brian Gruber from his home on the island of Koh Phangan, Thailand. Brian just published his fourth book, co-authored, “Surmountable,” gathering stories of transcendence and transformation from activists, thought leaders, and witnesses to seismic political change.
I discover what inspired Brian to write the book, and what cities and countries he visited in his research. I ask him about the big lessons he learned in people developing their sense of empowerment. And I probe his insights into how we take these lessons from history into our own lives so that we can be empowered to live our best lives.
This is an eye-opening hour, where we enjoy the encyclopedic breadth of Brian's knowledge and experience in traveling to remote locations around the world to learn about what motivates people toward empowerment and change. Research can indeed be complex and hard to understand. However, the writing about it should not add to the difficulty.
In this webinar, Barbara Gastel, MD, MPH, who teaches science communication at Texas A&M University, will offer guidance on writing readably about research.
