Today my guests is Amy Jo (Gaither), ever since she was 3 she has been around music, she wrote her first song at 10 years old & nothing has held her back. She is a member of the ISSA (international singers songwriters' association) as well as the CMA & ACM . She has been nominated for awards and has been able to bring some hardware home. During her childhood, Sassy’s love for music was initially inspired by the extraordinary female vocalists Olivia Newton-John and Shania Twain, who both inspired her and helped her to become the singer songwriter she is today. Formerly a county squad gymnast and dancer, Sassy qualified as a fitness instructor, honing her performance skills which took her into modelling. A chance moment seeing Shania Twain singing ‘That Don’t Impress Me Much’ created the germ of an idea to become a Shania lookalike. Today my guest is Marie Norris who was born in Thomasville, Ga, raised in Cairo,Ga syrup Country.
Marie knew from a young age that she was meant to be a country singer, that it was in her blood. Life happened and her dreams and aspirations got put on hold, She eventually became a Truck Driver and loved it. Getting to travel the country and see all of it's sights and be paid to do it. After 22 plus years out and away from anything music, she's back with Her First ever Album Release due out in February 2022 along with singles currently available on all major streaming platforms.

It was so much fun talking with her and hearing her story, and how much Country Legend Barbara Mandrell had on her life. She loves her music and she one day hopes to meet her in person. She has been nominated for a number of award this year in the International Singers Songwriters Association. She truly has an amazing gift of writing music and sharing with the world.

Today on Chit & Chat I have the opportunity to talk with Sarah Ashley is an independent singer songwriter based in Nashville Tennessee, we talked about food for a little bit and who doesn't love food? She shared about early years in which her musical journey begin by banging on pots and pans through out the house.

He musical style is modern country rock, which came from multiple influences during her childhood listening to: The Mamas and the Papas, The Beach Boys, Patsy Cline, and various classic 1940’s country artists. Sarah’s parents always had some music playing in the background at home while she was growing up, in fact her father wired the entire house with speakers inside and out.

Sarah remembers getting in trouble when she was at her grandparents house (on her father's side of the family.) Her punishment would be to sit on the organ bench. Little did she know that her "timeouts" would turn into Sarah and her grandfather playing a duet! Sarah’s grandfather on clarinet and she on the family's organ.
Sarah now thinks it paid off being the only girl with so many rowdy boys in her family! She came to realize looking back that what she had thought was a punishment would turn out to be one of her most precious memories and may have lead to her pursuits in music.

For years, she have been told, ‘stop dreaming, get back to earth and learn how to become successful with a 9-5 career.’ she would listen to these pieces of advice whilst continuing to write songs when everyone else slept. As the years went by, the voice in my head said my purpose in life is connected to music. It told me not to give up, however my fear and insecurities held me back until the 2020 pandemic. It was this time that made me realise how priceless time really is. During lockdown, Ewelina went for long walk along the coast line as she was walking, she came across a stone in the shape of a heart. She believes this was a sign from God to carry on with what I love doing - music.She began working harder and harder more that ever before so I could improve. She has learned to believe in herself, no matter what others said. Ewelina has learned to love herself and embrace her progress, her voice is no unique. I hope you enjoy our time together. Lady Miranda is a multi-award winning multi-genre singer/songwriter. She is best known as female American voice of Apple's Siri personal assistant, since the service was introduced on the iPhone 4S on October 4, 2011. I am so excited to have on Francesca Tarantino she a singer, musician, and actress. She was born in Pennsylvania & moved to Florida just before her 8th birthday. She has always loved to sing, often belting out classic rock tunes while running around the house or riding in the car. She got her first taste for performing on stage in second grade, when she closed out her school’s talent show with “I Wanna Rock and Roll All Nite” by KISS. A bit later she moved to Florida & started in a new school that gave her the opportunity to learn about acting, singing, & theatre. Though a little nervous, with the guidance of her voice teacher, Francesca decided to audition for the lower school’s production of Beauty and the Beast and was cast as a “silly girl’ and Belle understudy. She continued with musical productions but music called her. Francesca was introduced to the guitar by her father when she was still a toddler. Her fascination grew and soon she’d have an acoustic and then an electric all her own! Currently she’s learning how to play lead & is practicing some epic riffs. She’s even teaching her dad a few!Francesca has played some local gigs in and around Orlando and has participated in several open mics. & has sung the National Anthem at several sporting events for her school.She covers a wide range of artists such as: The Beatles, Stevie Nicks, KISS, and much more! Fantastic Flying Foelschs was formed in 2018 by Aaron and Haley Foelsch. It started out as a musical experiment to identify the right sound and instruments, in 2019 their Doom sound was developed. Aaron plays the guitar and bass, Haley is on drums, and both sing. FFF has recorded 6 metal albums and continues to write and record. FFF has done several live stream shows during the pandemic, participated live at Porchfest, the Charleston, The Crypt, Erebus, as well as several others places in Washington & Oregon. FFF went on tour from late August 2023 to early September 2023 for the release of their album Histories and participated in 7 additional shows. In November 2023, FFF played at Johnny B’s in Medford and Le Voyeur in Dec 2023.FFF has also done two music interviews as well that can be found online. As a decorated former US Army Black Hawk Helicopter pilot and one of the first approximately 100 females to become a Black Hawk Pilot , she flew command and control, air assault, rappelling, top-secret intelligence missions, and also transported high level government VIPs including the Secretary of Defense. These stories keep attendees on the edges of their seats, and the stories are turned into relatable lessons that any audience can put into immediate action.

She has received many awards in the Army, and supported United Nations peacekeeping operations in Kosovo, receiving the Meritorious Service Medal for her excellence in service.

In 2011, Elizabeth was awarded the US Congressional Veteran Commendation.

Katrina, says she started singing around age 5, when she received the gift of a Fisher Price karaoke machine. She grew up watching country music awards shows with her mother.

She also was encouraged by her grandparents, both of whom have musical talent.

Her first public appearance was at an open mic event when she was 14.

“It was in the old Brownsville elementary school that’s now a community center,” she says. “People were singing gospel and old-time country music.”

“My grandpa (Bill Whetsel of Mt. Pleasant) organized the Mount Tabor Homecoming,” she says. The event is a fundraiser for Mount Tabor Cemetery in Springfield Township, Fayette County. “He said, ‘You want a shot at singing, I’ll give you a shot.’”

Years later came gigs at other area fundraisers, outdoor concerts and clubs. She’s also headlined the annual Kecksburg UFO Festival. From starting with a guitar and karaoke tracks, she’s gone on to assemble a five-piece band, playing both original songs and covers.

Whetsel’s short-term career goal is to open for bigger-name country acts. In the long term, she wants to get signed to a record label and entertain military troops on a USO tour, in honor of family members who have served.

Whetsel names Reba McEntire as her favorite country performer, "Definitely Reba is my number one. She’s my mom’s favorite and mine as well,” she says. “In my opinion, she’s the queen of country music, because she changes with the times while still staying true to her country roots.”

She has been nominated for and won a number of awards, I don't believe there is a limit on what she can accomplish in the music industry. She was a awesome guest and I hope we can stay in touch and continue to share her music.

My guest today is Austin Hopkins is an independent singer-songwriter from the suburbs of Chicago. His distinctive voice gives him a unique mix between country twang and modern pop. Austin bases his music on real life situations so the listener can really relate to the lyrics.

Austin has always loved music since he was a child, but didn’t pick up a guitar until he was 23. A single dad at that time, trying to practice and raise his son, he found songwriting an outlet to everyday life and relationship stress.

In 2009, Austin entered a contest hosted by a local radio station. To Austin’s surprise, he was selected as one of the finalists. He performed his first original song “Beauty In The Breakdown”. Though he didn’t move on to the next round, he used that experience to fuel him, and continued to song write and play at local shows.

Austin’s dream is to become a professional songwriter in Nashville. He hopes to achieve this goal by continuing to produce new music for all to hear.

Today my guest is Michael Powers, and Michael was born in New York City in 1960, but grew up in the San Francisco Bay area. His musical career began as therapy, when at the age of 15 he took up strumming the guitar to strengthen his wrist after a skateboard accident. Following his graduation from Berkeley High School when he was 15½, he moved to Seattle and frequented local jam sessions, keeping his fingers on the guitar strings and his mind on making his music reach a wider audience. His style was also influenced by a diverse group of musicians which includes Jimi Hendrix, Carlos Santana, Charlie Parker, George Benson, Stanley Jordan, Miles Davis, and Kevin Eubanks. Welcome back to the podcast Dr. Katariina Rosenblatt, She was on the podcast about a year ago and she is back to share about her organization what they have been doing, and I wanted to ask her about the movie the Sound of Freedom but a little bit about her.

Dr. Kat has a personal story of human trafficking from the time she was just 13 years of age to 17. Throughout her early life, she experienced several separate trafficking scenarios; recruited through a friend in her middle school to more organized crime trafficking rings. Her experiences centered in the metropolitan area of Miami, FL. After escaping trafficking and drug addiction, she went on to experience teen pregnancy followed by a twenty-year abusive relationship. With so many triumphs over unbeatable obstacles, Katariina is now a much sought-after speaker and trainer in the areas of human trafficking and domestic violence as well as an inspirational leader to many women all over the world.

Dr. Kat also works as a consultant for the Department of Homeland Security on their Blue Campaign, conducting in person trainings to law enforcement through FLETC (Federal Law Enforcement Training Centre) and aiding to develop the Blue Campaign materials targeting potential identification of victims of human trafficking. Kat also works as a consultant for DOJ – Office of Victim’s of Crime OVC NHTTAC and is on their expert training & consultant team as well as a survivor fellow in helping to develop promising practices for programs to serve survivors nationally.

She has an incredible story and I am so excited to have her back and to hear her story and the tremendous impact her and organization are making.

Today on the Chit & Chat; encouraging one another podcast, I get the opportunity to interview Brandy D'Ininosanto she has been behind the call when you might have called 911, in the Kitsap area, and she has been doing it for 20 years. She has seen many changes over the years and has answered many, many calls. She works at CENCOM, which takes all 911 Emergency and non-Emergency calls with in the Kitsap County area which covers many, many miles and areas. In May and June they received nearly 30,000 calls and on July 4th they received 1200 calls.

It was a blast getting to know her and hearing about how she go into this very unique field. Thank you also to the many 911 Operators all over the US, the many hours they put in and answering calls 24/7/365 from a fender bender to some very severe life threating issues. Most of us get to clock out at 4pm but CENCOM is manned all day every day, they are there for you the many citizens of Kitsap County.

My guest today has battled mental health issues since his younger years. He struggled with bipolar disorder, ADHD and several others. However, amidst those dark moments he was facing, his music kept an undermining message of “Hope”. Overcoming the challenges of Mental Health struggles have been an ongoing process but he had faced the challenge head on and it now in recovery. It is through his music that has given him the ability to truly express himself. In each of his songs he want to provide a message of “HOPE” no matter how difficult things may get. Kenoy Kennedy, played 4 years for the Arkansas Razorbacks, was drafted in the 2nd round by the Denver Broncos, where he played 5 years and them 3 more with the Detroit Lions and felt it was time to walk away from the sport. He is now a full time dad. It was so much fun talking with him and hearing some his stories from playing and being drafted.

Jesse is a gifted writer, and recently he wrote the words to a powerful song called "Hero's Dream." A song that talks about Veteran Suicide, his good friend Ricky Davis sings the song and ultimately the won an award for it through the ISSA (International Singers Songwriters Association.) With his song he hope to bring more awareness to Veteran Suicide.

It was fun getting to meet Jesse and hear more about him. I am also thankful for him and his service. He served in the Army, and was in Desert Storm.

She has an incredible story, and I am excited to share her story and hear about the amazing work that "We Save Lives" are doing. She founded MADD after losing her daughter, Cari, to a drunk-driving accident in order to raise awareness about the dangers of drunk driving. She helped to pass state drunk driving legislation in both the United States and in her home state of Wisconsin. Serena later established Students Against Drunk Driving as a way to keep drunk drivers off the road. At 19, New York native Sydney Irving may only be in the early years of her music career, but she has already been named the 2020 young adult artist of the year by the International Singer Songwriters Association and the 2022 Best New Artist at the Syracuse Area Music Awards.Similar to other contemporary artists, Irving writes songs that mean a lot to her and that she hopes will resonate with others as well. In this episode I have a face to face interview with Richard LeMieux, the author of the book; Breakfast at Sally's. He shares his story of some tragic times he has face from losing everything his job, his family, his home and he became homeless. He and his dog Willow stayed together, living on the streets, sleeping in parks, church parking lots. On one fateful night he nearly took his life but the barking of Willow, that drowned out all the traffic around him he walked away from the bridge. We have such a powerful conversation.
