Synopsis: Flies and parasites can cause significant problems for sheep. A good shepherd will commonly apply oil on the heads of their sheep to both restore and prevent damage due to these nuisances. Our Shepherd does not just apply, but He anoints His sheep with oil.

Baptism is a powerful public declaration of faith in Jesus Christ, symbolizing the death of our old self and resurrection to new life. It marks the beginning of a lifelong journey with Jesus, not the end. Through baptism, believers identify with Christ's death, burial, and resurrection while committing to faithfully follow Him. This act of obedience connects us to something bigger than ourselves - a community of faith where we can continue learning, growing, and reaching others with the hope of Jesus. Baptism doesn't require perfect understanding, just faith in Jesus and a desire to follow Him.

Synopsis: One of the primary roles of a shepherd is to lead their sheep to drinkable water, as sheep need a consistent source of clean water in order to survive. This week we look at the last of three primary sources for sheep to experience still waters, and how Jesus ultimately fulfills our need for consistent water.

Main Scripture: John 10:3-4 "The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep recognize his voice and come to him. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. After he has gathered his own flock, he walks ahead of them, and they follow him because they know his voice."
Synopsis: The opening phrase of Psalm 23 is a declaration of ownership and belonging. It is this premise that sets the stage for the rest of the Psalm. We spend our time together this week looking at two markers of ownership and belonging between a sheep and its shepherd.

Main Scripture: 1 Peter 2:24-25 "He personally carried our sins in his body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By his wounds you are healed. Once you were like sheep who wandered away. But now you have turned to your Shepherd, the Guardian of your souls."
Synopsis: We are all like sheep that wander into danger and sin. Praise God that we also have the Good Shepherd who sacrifices His life for his Sheep! This Easter message is the beginning of a series looking at the well known Psalms 23. Because our Shepherd laid His life down for us, we can "dwell in the house of the Lord forever."

Main Scripture: Romans 12:4-5 "Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, 5 so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other."
Synopsis: This text is one of several in the Bible that use the body as a metaphor for the church. Similar to individual parts of the body, God gives each of us abilities to do certain things well. In isolation those abilities can do some good, but the impact is multiplied when in unity with the abilities of others. A healthy church resists isolation and embraces unity, diversity, and mutuality.

Synopsis: In this text, Paul makes the claim not once, but twice, that Jesus sacrificed Himself for the church with the goal of making her holy. Main Scripture: Ephesians 2:4-5, 7. "But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. So God can point to us in all future ages as examples of the incredible wealth of his grace and kindness toward us, as shown in all he has done for us who are united with Christ Jesus."
Synopsis: The phrase "but God" communicates the incredible news of the gospel. We were dead in our sins, "but God" loved us and granted us salvation through Jesus. That isn't the end of the story though.The phrase "so God" communicates continued purpose after salvation. A healthy church is made up of individuals who have received life in Jesus AND live out His plans and purposes.

In these couple of verses, Jesus introduces a few challenging thoughts. He speaks of commandments that are lesser than others and that there will be people that will be the least and others that will be the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven. The miracle of Easter is not just the resurrection of Jesus, but that His resurrection provided everything necessary for our resurrection as well. The gospel does not just save us, but continues to grow righteous character in us until the day when we enter the presence of Christ for eternity. God does the heavy lifting of saving and maturing us, but we do get to participate by remaining in healthy connection to Jesus, our source of life.

Humanity was created in the image and likeness of God. Amongst other characteristics, God is a giver. His generosity is the source of our very existence and all of creation. Jesus' incarnation itself is an expression of God's generosity. "For God so loved the world that He gave..." God's principles of stewardship include planning ahead and living off of less that you make. Having a plan for the resources God has entrusted you is not just wise, it is biblical and spiritual. It takes consistency and faithfulness, but biblical stewardship is difficult if not impossible without a plan.

Contentment isn’t something that we come by without a great deal of effort. As Paul says, we must “learn to be content” in every situation. But how? the Bible has some powerful warnings about greed, and how contentment can be the antidote. Ultimately, it is in looking back to the Gospel that we find true contentment in our life and with our finances.

Jesus came to fill valleys, level mountains, make crooked ways smooth, and rough places smooth. The more we believe and expect this of Jesus, the more we will prepare the way. We cannot save anyone, but we can clear the road.

Sometimes we find ourselves suffering the consequences of our own sin. When we are caught in sin, God is still worthy of our worship. We don't worship because we feel worthy to, we worship because He is worthy. When we are caught in sin, the grace and mercy of God draws us in and all we can do is worship.
We live in a time where individualism is celebrated, but should this be true about Christians? Tucker Parman helps us look at one of the reasons why being a part of the church is so critical in the life of a believer. Engaging in community is a response to the worthiness of God.
God is worthy of our worship no matter what our circumstances look like. Paul and Silas found themselves chained up in a dungeon, yet even there they declared the worthiness of God. Can we also declare that God is good even when our circumstances are bad?
We can be tempted to give up when we are in the season in-between the promise and its fulfillment. There is more to salvation than just being saved. We are called to live the rest of our lives as holy priests. In this week's message, we look at how we are called to operate as priests today.

In this message, we look at two areas of our life that God is Worthy of: our identity and our service.
If God is worthy of our worship, how do we express His worthiness? This week we look at how the Bible instructs us to express the worthiness of God verbally. We are constantly using words to communicate our approval or disapproval of people, behavior, tv shows, food, coffee, and weather. How do we direct our words to be the source of worship to our God who is worthy of more than we could ever offer?
