The Phillies made another trip down to Miami, basically a house of horrors for them in recent seasons, but came away winners despite dropping Sunday’s extra inning affair. The Phils cranked out wins on Friday and Saturday to win yet another series, so let’s Ring the Bell as the Phils head back North after a winning weekend in Miami.

The Red Hot Phillies polished off a four game sweep on Monday against the Giants before Bryce Harper’s Grand Slam helped the Phillies take game one a two game set against the Blue Jays before the seven game winning streak finally came to an end on Wednesday afternoon, though the Phils did have some chances. Still, loss 11271 in franchise history certainly wont stop us from ringing the bell for the first place Phils.

The Fightin Phillies clinched another series win at home, this time against the Giants and while the Braves were out west getting spanked by the Dodgers the now first place Phils cruised right past em in the standings. Well, we missed a week of show but the Phillies have been on point. The Phillies – amazingly – wrapped up their best opening road trip in over a decade with their second straight series win taking 2 of 3 against the Cardinals. They kept the positive momentum rolling on their return home with a 5-1 win over the visiting Pirates to get over .500 for the first time on this young season. It was a whole lot of singles... more than match.com as they seem to say around here, so Let’s Ring the Bell for a strong road trip as the Phillies face off in a battle for Pennsylvania.

We're back for Season 3 of the Phils in Five Podcast! It was an exciting weekend down at the bank and though we got started off a day late, we did get some sunshine for Opening Day on Friday. The pitching, however, took a few days to stabilize and after two straight Ls to the division rival Braves – numbers 11,260 and 11,261 of all time – the boys got into the win column on Sunday with a 5-4 comeback victory. Let’s Ring the Bell for win one of the 2024 season!

Whelp, that’s it.... WHOMP WHOM WHOMP. The Phils had two cracks to punch their ticket to the World Series entering the week needing to win just one out of two to move on and now they’ll be heading home. The top two pieces in the bullpen each watched a run come home, the biggest bats came up kinda small in the biggest spots and your 2023 Philadelphia Phillies failed to keep the vibes train on the rails. Surely, it wasn’t a totally lost season and it is near impossible to successfully run the gauntlet two years in a row, but watching this team’s momentum come to a screeching halt with that three run blast Friday night in Arizona is gonna be tough to swallow. Maybe not Joe Carter tough, but Alek Thomas makes the short list after that. Yea we deserve one more of these today sad trombone today.

The Phillies high hopes of wrapping up the NL Crown on the Road in Arizona took a serious hit with a bullpen blowup Thursday and Friday’s encore implosion by Craig Kimbrel out an end to that talk. But the Phillies bounced back with a pair of blasts and another dazzling performance from their ace on Saturday to take back the lead in the NLCS and head home to Philly needing just one more win to earn a second straight trip to the World Series. The NLCS Series moved to Arizona where the Phillies bats failed to stay as hot as the 100 degree temps. The Phillies scored first but ultimately could not capitilize as the Diamondbacks scratched back for a walk-off 2-1 win to push the series tally also to 2-1. Sad trombone today, hopefully its the last one of the year!

Just as the fine people of Springfield annually drive the area’s snakes into the town square and club them to death, the Philadelphia Phillies honored this great traditon with their own version of Whacking Day on Tuesday as the Phillies backed up their series opening win on Monday with a 10-0 clubbing in Game 2. Wednesday was grim day in Philadelphia. The Phils really just didn't have it, mustering just single run on offense as they fell to the Braves who emphatically clinched the NL East against the team that knocked em out of the playoffs 11 months ago. The boos rained down as the Braves danced all over the Phillies mound in jubilation and while we’ll tip our cap to the division champs and sound the sad trombone today, we’ll remain hopeful that perhaps, just like last season, a different team will be dancing on the mound come October.

Happy Labor Day! We’re a little late today as we enjoy some HOT weather on the east coast but the Phillies will look to bounce back in San Diego following a rough weekend in Milwaukee.. The Phillies lookes like they had another epic comeback in the works Friday but the bullpen and defense made a mess and the team lost their second straight game, before dropping a third straight on Saturday. In what may have been the most entertaining loss of the year, the Fightin Phillies MVP lit the Bank on fire once again and while the bullpen ultimately couldn’t hold the lead Wednesday afternoon, Bryce Harper’s 300th career home run – one that gave the Phillies an 8th inning lead after trailing by a run – was an electric moment. I guess we'll ring the sad trombone for loss 11,246 of all time, but it really doesn't feel so bad as the Phils sit atop the wild card race while we flip the calendar to September.

We’re back after a week of beaching by the bay but the Fighting Phillies took no time off since we last spoke. Well they did have an off day in there but you know what I mean. After a somewhat frustrating series loss to the Nats, the Phils returned home and rallied back with a series win over the Giants and old friend Gabe Kapler and then a 3-game sweep of the Cardinals off the backs of the MVP and their Aces who by the way looked dominant. The Phils have won 5 of their last 6 with the only loss coming in an extra inning game where Bryce cranked a huge game tying homer ion the bottom of the ninth. It’s been 11 years since the Cardinals ended the Phillies last playoff run, now the Phillies head to St Louis to make their long anticipated return to the postseason. Thanks for joining us along this bumpy road, we’ve had plenty of ups and downs but we’ve finally made it to the tournament folks and anything can happen if the bats get hot. THE DROUGHT IS OVER. Kyle Schwarber, Aaron Nola and the Fightin' Phillies punched their ticket to the playoffs on Monday with a 3-0 victory over the Houston Astros.. That wraps up an 11-year postseason drought for a team that looked to be bottoming out in May. More than 4,000 days after Ryan Howard crumbled to the ground with a torn Achillies as the Phils were knocked out of the 2011 postseason we are just days away from the beginning of another playoff run. It’s going to be a tough road with the better than ever Dodgers holding the one seed, the defending Champion Braves and the Mets with the best rotation in baseball also possibly in the way, but we are just PUMPED to have some meaningful baseball in October. We’ll get kicked of likely against St. Louis on Friday but let's take a few moments to enjoy this. You bet its time to RING THE BELL!

Well, it’s September and the Phillies stink… Losses number 11,182 and 11,183 came with barely a hint of offense, falling 4-2 on Wednesday and again 2-0 yesterday to the CUBS.. Still the Phils managed to shave their magic number down to 6 thanks to a couple of Brewers losses as neither team looks all that interested in going to the playoffs… oof.

Nick Castellanos returned to the lineup and made a nice putout at second base but as has, oddly, been the case for much of the year the Cubs were too strong for Zack Wheeler and the Phillies with a 2-1 defeat registering loss number 11,182 of all time… But oh hey, our boys in St. Louis got it done beating the Brewers 6-2 and cutting the Phillies magic number to 7 – can’t be picky these days, so let's RING THE BELL!

It was a mixed bag of a weekend for the Phils after earning wins to open the series with the braves on Thursday and Friday (RIIING) the Phils stumbled on Saturday and then dropped a rain delayed extra innings affair on Sunday to split with the Braves. That’s losses 11,180 and 11,181 of all time... Still the magic number sits at 8 with 10 games left to play as the Phils head out on a road trip that will determine our fate.

The losing streak is snapped and the Phils have won two straight HUGE games for the struggling team: A comeback win on Wednesday to wrap the series with the Jay and a gritty 1-0 victory over the Braves Thursday to open a weekend series with their NL East foes. The Phillies followed up a miserable weekend and a day off with utter embarrassment on Monday, they certainly earned loss 11,179 after and 18-11 drubbing at the hands of the Blue Jays. Kyle Gibson didn’t have it from the start, the defense didn’t help and while the bats showed up it wasn't nearly enough… AND YET the Phils were able to get a little cushion on their wild card leads over the last couple of days thanks to our wonderful, handsome, fine-smelling friends in New York who took it to the Brew Crew Monday and Tuesday... so LETS GO METS!

Man oh man, the evenings are crisp, there's football on the TV and the Phillies are collapsing again... IT IS SEPTEMBER. The Fightin' Phils went down to Atlanta and much like they did last time they played the Mets, failed to live up to any occasion, throwing some cold water on the team's playoff optimism. Well, I hope you all enjoyed some time off this past weekend, the Phillies were not only off on Monday but, in fact, failed to show up for the entirety of their west coast road trip. With that odd 18 run explosion against Arizona the only outlier the Phils had an absolute pathetic trip out west capping the week by being swept out in San Francisco over the weekend. Its a 1-5 road trip for the suddenly flailing Phillies. Time to hit the sad trombone for us and Bryce Harper dragging the team down.

HOLY SH*T - The Phillies started off their road trip out west hot putting up seven runs in the first four innings of Monday’s game but, well, things unraveled quickly. The DBacks stormed back with a pair of TDs in the 4th and 5th to surge to a 13-7 win Monday and then walloped Aaron Nola and the Phils 12-3 on Tuesday... outscored 25-3 after the 4th inning Monday and we are stunned, just stunned. That's losses 11,169 and 11,170 in team history, 7 straight losses at chase field and the regular sad trombone just isn't gonna do it today. WHOMP WHOMP WHOMP.

That's right, reigning NL MVP Bryce Harper--who has been absent from the lineup since June 25th--will make his triumphant return in front of the Phillies faithful as the boys kick off a home series with their cross-state rival Pirates on Friday Evening. Hey we’re back at it after a week away and it was an uneven week for the Phillies in which they earned win number 10,000 in franchise history, but sandwiched the milestone with a couple of disappointing series against the front running Mets. Things came to a head on Sunday when the Phillies blew not one, not two, but THREE leads to fall 10-9 to the division rival Mets one long ass game. In the words of Phillies radio broadcaster Michael Bourn: OH SH* T! A Blake Snell fastball sent shockwaves through Phillies nation long after many of us on the east coast had gone to bed on Saturday.
