Every wonder why you are afraid of success? Or embarrassed of your accomplishments! Here is my experience on how one of my limiting beliefs became a way of life!
The only limits you have are the limits you believe. Hard to swallow I know but it is true. No one else is getting in your way, but you and your beliefs about what you are capable of. So what is holding you back?
I have been following a friend of mine, Colin Mason (@cmason_20) on his 75Hard journey where he has been working on a program that builds your mental toughness. We are so used to programs that focus on physical health but never our mental health and lately, I have been struggling to get my mind right. I have been living in negative conversations more often than not. I am not staying in the conversations long, but they are frequent and I am trying to understand why. Colin's journey has given me some insight on what may be missing in my world which is being intentional around building my mental toughness. As a courage coach, I live with great courage daily but then have hiccups and have to start all over. This program would allow me to live 75 days, consecutively, where I get to build up my mental stamina. Which scares the living hell out of me but I know I need it. Is there something you are fighting internally that is zapping the joy out of your life that you need a reset? Let's talk or even better, join me on this challenge. Check out www.75hard.com
Have you ever paid attention to the dialog between you and yourself? Every wonder why you aren't feeling on top of your game. Check out the conversations you are having with yourself and see if something needs to change!
Preparing for change can be scary, but when you realize that staying the same is even more terrifying, then it’s time to ask yourself a few thought-provoking questions. Working as a coach I have noticed the hard truth that in order to reach your dreams and hit your goals, you have to be vulnerable and willing to get uncomfortable. I always say - got to get comfortable with being uncomfortable!
Have you ever felt guilty for feeling joyful? After I lost Terese, I almost automatically told myself I could NEVER feel happy again as it would not honor her death. When I had Tegan, I started to experience that I could live with sadness and joy without feeling bad. I could love Tegan and miss Terese in the same moment. I could be smiling while crying knowing that I had to lose Terese in order to have Tegan. Instead of forcing yourself to feel one way or another - allow yourself to live in both places. Honor the sadness and Celebrate the Joy!
Have you ever read the book 'The Secret', by Rhonda Byrnes? If you haven't, you are MISSING OUT! It is all about the Law of Attraction which is the belief that positive or negative thoughts bring positive or negative experiences into our lives. So if you think you can, you will. If you think you can't, you won't. One small example of this for me is every time I go to a store or restaurant I always get the BEST parking spot because, in the deepest part of my soul, I truly believe it to be true. All my life, my grandma would say "I live a good life" every time we would find the best parking spot and it carried on with me to adulthood. What you think to be true, the universe will provide! Try it out!
I took on the challenge to live COURAGEOUSLY everyday this year. Every day is an opportunity to live with bravery whether it is singing out loud, asking for help, admitting a mistake, accepting a compliment, cutting all your hair off, or failing spectuaclary and getting up again! Every day, I am going to attempt to live with intention and with courage and document how it works out for me! I can't wait to see what 12/31/21 will look like for me! Are you up for the challenge? Courage isn't about having the strength to carry on; Courage is about carrying on when you don't have the strength! We all have Courage, some of us have stories that tell us otherwise. You are here today because of the COURAGE you have. It looks different for everyone but we all have it.
Heres my Method to recognition my Courage
Step 1. Awareness - Acknlowledging where I am at and how I got here
Step 2. Acceptance - Pull out all the things I can Control and those things I can't and let the Guy Above take it off my hands.
Step 3. Action - Put all the learnings on the road and move with it.
Step 4. Award - Most important. Acknowledge the WIN. Award the WINS.
Raise your hand if you ever looked in the mirror and criticized how you looked? I imagine you are all raising your hands. Now I am not perfect but when I found that wearing a LONG ELSA braid was my path into self-love, I have not gone many days without it! I fell in love with myself when I change my definition of beauty. When I appreciated the stories our bodies go through as women. It took me being able to put my hair in a braid to truly love the gifts my body has given me. So what is your braid? What will be the one thing that helps you find the confidence to truly accept you for who you are, imperfectly perfect.
Being a mom or parent, in general, is tough. There is no one that can change my mind. I have had good days. I have had bad days. I have had days I wanted to just run away from it all. What I keep learning as a mom is that we are too hard on each other. More importantly, we are too hard on ourselves. There are things YOU ROCK at as a parent and there are other things that you may suck at. Focus on the good while trying to improve the bad but you will never be perfect! Honor your strengths, give way to your weaknesses. Be kind to yourself!
When I look back at past loves, I wonder how I got to where I am at. I cherish every relationship I have ever been in. Some more than others. Without those experiences, I wouldn't have met Jerome. I truly believe that. Through all my past relationships and in my marriage, I have learned the most important lesson about LOVE. To fall in love with me first. So my question to you, are you IN LOVE WITH YOURSELF?
Have you ever worried about how someone would JUDGE you for how you acted or responded to something in your life? Ever beat yourself up because you worried your reactions wouldn't be the same reactions of someone in your "circle". So many times we are more worried about showing up STRONG and not truly allowing ourselves to experience our struggles. Doing this only causes us to create stories that don't serve us and cause us more hardship in our future because those stories end up being put on REPEAT and become our TRUTH. Until you accept WHAT'S MINE IS MINE and WHAT'S YOURS IS YOURS, you will always have a hard time living your truth! Don't allow anyone to take up any real estate in your heart and soul until you have staked your own claim!
We all deal with grief. Some more than others. Every felt or been told the way you grieve is "too" much or not right. Well, I am here to tell you that YOUR WAY is the BEST WAY! There is no right or wrong way to grieve. Through my experience, I have noticed more often than not, when I tried to cater to other's views of how I should grieve, I struggled more. it wasn't until I found my way, that life started to open up for me. Find what fits you best.
Here is my start. The WHY behind what I do! This is the reason I jumped on the path of helping others discover the stories in their lives that are doing them a disservice by helping them add new narratives to help find more confidence, increase their self-worth and discover their purpose!
