Tune into our Women's History Month podcast as we got to sit down with two women in leadership here at UTSA talk about how their identities have shaped who they are today. Brandi Scott, Director of the Multicultural Student Center for Equity and Justice and Dr. Traci Buckley, Assistant Vice  President in the Office of Inclusive Excellence, spoke very honestly and openly about how their passion for Social Justice brought them to their roles today.

Tune into this month's episode as we got to sit down and talk with Professor Karla Broadus who has served as a faculty member at UTSA for the last 20 years. She was also the director of African American Studies where she served as a leader in improving the African American Studies programing. Her goal was to help make the program more known and get students enrolled in a minor that could apply to students of any major. Professor Broadus dives what made her so passionate in teaching with students and how she ended up here at UTSA.

She also spoke about the significance of the Black Lives Matter course that was added in Fall 2020 and her experience with bringing that to our UTSA community. Professor Broadus is a faculty member that has full faith in her students to take what they're learning and become change makers as well.

Tune into Mauricio’s experience as he shares his story about entering fatherhood while being a college student. 

Mauricio - a Male and Latino; reflects on his undergraduate experience and the balancing act of wanting to navigate college at 19, but also wanting to be best parent he can be. 

Now, his son is 9 years old and Mauricio is currently enrolled in a masters program, he is able to share advice and the lessons he's learned along the way. Mauricio shares his journey of parenting, going school and being a full time professional that while at times has been challenging, it is worth the journey.
