I recently purchased the vacant lot next to my grandmother's house. The land has been vacant now for 30+ years be it that it is in the hood it makes no financial sense to build a home and rent it out due to obvious factors it is also not feasible to open a business in the area.
I paid nearly $12,000 for an acre in my best financial sense the cheapest and quickest way for me to turn a profit is to get into horticulture. The land obviously has fertile soil and seeing as all I would need to be positive on the land is $500 a month. The expense of setting a dwelling on the land and the risk of damages to the property are far greater that say growing flowers.
Where it would cost min $120,000 to obtain a return in rent of $400 - $700 a month it would turn my ROI from 24 months to max of 171 months.

As someone who is passionate about gardening, I recently had the opportunity to work on my plot of land in South Baton Rouge. I spent about 6 hours raking, pulling up, and chopping down small trees. It was hard work, but it felt great to finally get started.
Initially, I was worried that the work would be much harder than I anticipated, but I quickly realized that the density of the matter on the ground was mainly decaying foliage. This realization made the work much less strenuous than I had initially thought it would be.
However, there is still a lot of work to be done. I have only managed to progress through 1/6th of the property, and that is only the area that is consistent with the inside of the gates. Over the next four weeks, I will have to do much more, and it will involve more power tools. The use of chainsaws, tillers, sifters, and other equipment will be necessary to bring this area up to production.
Despite the hard work that lies ahead, I am looking forward to it. The fun part of gardening is using power tools to help with the work. This equipment allows me to work more efficiently, making it possible to plant and clean at the same time. By organizing the work into sections, I can manage the workload more effectively and achieve better results.
Although gardening can be challenging, it is a rewarding experience that offers many benefits. Not only is it a great way to get exercise and fresh air, but it also provides a sense of satisfaction that comes from seeing the fruits of one's labor. There is something truly special about growing your own food, and it is something that everyone should experience at least once.
Gardening also allows us to connect with nature in a meaningful way. By working in the soil and nurturing plants, we gain a deeper appreciation for the natural world around us. In a world that is increasingly disconnected from nature, gardening offers a way to reconnect and find balance in our lives.
my experience working on my plot of land in South Baton Rouge has been a mix of joy and struggle. While the work is hard, the rewards are well worth the effort.
