Hello, Hiver friends!
My eldest son and husband were brave enough to try kayaking in Bulusan Lake. The tour guide gave us information about the lake: the lake's center, or deepest part, is 62 meters deep. We are a family of non-swimmers, so we always hesitate to try water activities when traveling. Swimming was always on the list of skills that I wanted our family to learn, but we couldn't find time yet to enroll in swimming lessons. Though they were given lifevests during the kayak ride, there's always a part of me that overthinks: What if that kayak flips over?
Maybe you're wondering how I was able to film them kayaking in the middle of the lake if I was scared. Hmmm, oh well, this short clip is kind of a sneak peek at my longer blog coming soon. charaught! ~~pag sinipag~~

Hello, dear Hivers!
Today I'll share with you my ATV adventure with my family. Last Saturday was my youngest sister's 18th birthday, and we let her choose whether to celebrate it at home or go somewhere she likes. Knowing how introverted she is, I was confident that she would choose later. It was convenient for us because we no longer needed to prepare much, but we wanted to make sure that she would still enjoy her special day.
I made our itinerary after checking the tourist spots around the province of Albay, and I also checked the weather. ATV rides were one of the highlights of our itinerary; we already did this ATV adventure years ago, but this time it's more challenging because we are doing it with our kids.
The weather said there was going to be a rain shower, so when we arrived and it was blazing hot, we didn't waste any time and proceeded with the orientation before the rain came.
After paying, they let us proceed to the assembly area, where they informed us about safety, trail details, and the guide's hand signal. Dos and don'ts were also included in the orientation.
There were different kinds of trails being offered, and my brother, knowing how adventurous he is, chose the summit trail that will take us closer to Mt. Mayon, but since we are riding with kids, two of them toddlers, it was impossible because the summit trail will take more or less 5 hours to ride. To be safe, we chose the moderate trail, which is the Cagsawa trail, which will take more or less an hour.
After the orientation, our guide lets us wear our helmet and pick up our ATV unit. My eldest son immediately ran towards the blue ATV because it's his favorite color. After settling in our chosen ATV, we started riding, and so the rain started showering. What a great timing!
| | | | --- | --- |
| | | | | --- | --- | --- |
As the ride began, our adrenaline started to spike. We crossed rivers a few times, and for me, it was the most enjoyable part. We could feel the cold water splashing on our feet as we crossed the river.
| | | | | --- | --- | --- |
| | | | --- | --- |
We have encountered a few challenges along the way to the end of our trail. My eldest switched units twice because his AV suddenly stopped and got stuck in the middle of the trail, and the second one ran out of gasoline, but our guide was riding two backup units just in case the same scenario happened, so he was able to continue riding towards the end of the trail.
| | | | | --- | --- | --- |
| | | | --- | --- |
When we reached the end of the trail, we were asked to pose for a photo. On a clear day, the background will be the majestic, perfect cone-shaped volcano Mt. Mayon, but since it was raining, it was hidden in thick clouds. We gamely posed for a photo nonetheless. We definitely enjoyed the experience.
Part of the service of the guide was taking great photos and being a videographer to document the whole adventure all I did was handing out my phone. I gave them a tip for not dropping my mobile phone because our way back to the starting point was extra challenging as the rain started to pour heavily.
Above is the last photo of us being dry as we were drenched in rain water after. We immediately head to the lobby to dry the kids and get changed.
It was definitely a fun adventure, and we will surely do it again. There are a few more things they offer, like a zipline and a skywheel ride.
Thank you for joining me on our adventure, and I hope you enjoyed watching the video.
Bye!
♥️❤️❤️

Hello, guys! Welcome to my blog!
Because July is National Nutrition Month, I created my own recipe for fish and vegetable soup as my entry in the @hiveph KwentongKusina contest. In our region, this dish is known as "kusido," and the main components are fish, sweet potato tops, and kalamansi. However, for my own adaptation, I will use milkfish and additional types of vegetables in order to boost the nutritional value of the soup.
This is to demonstrate that preparing healthy meals doesn't have to be extravagant, expensive, or complicated.
This is a very simple dish using ingredients that are widely available in the area. It also takes little time to prepare and cook. Completely no oil needed dish! You can skip the fish and substitute tofu if you don't eat meat or fish. I gave it a try, and it's fantastic. Dried seaweed is another option. It resembles the well-known Korean seaweed and tofu soup with Filipino twists. This is a Healthy, simple, and straightforward recipe.
So let's start cooking!
Ingredients: * Two slices of milkfish ( any kind of fish will do, if nakaLuwagluwag, use salmon head or belly) * 3 cups of water * moringa leaves * 1 pc small onion * 4 pcs ripe tomatoes * handful of sweet potato tops * one small bundle of string beans * 3 tbsp of kalamansi juice * 1 tbsp of fish sauce * salt to taste
Instructions: 1. Wash and cut all the vegetables however you want. 2. Season the fish with salt. 3. In a cooking pot, add the water, tomatoes, onion, and salt. Let it boil. 4. Once boiling, add the fish, cover, and let it simmer for 3 minutes. 5. Add the non-leafy vegetables (string beans, lady finger, or okra) and let it boil for 2 minutes. 6. Add the leafy vegetables and the green chili (I almost forgot about this one, but this will give a wonderful aroma to your soup). 7. Add the fish sauce and adjust the saltiness to your liking. 8. Lastly, add the kalamansi juice, cover, and turn off the heat. 9. Serve and enjoy!
You can be creative in what kind of vegetables you want to add to this soup; you can add asparagus, spinach, mushrooms, potatoes, radish, or whatever is available in your kitchen. As for me, I used what I harvested in the small vegetable garden in the neighborhood because I believe in a saying: Mas masustansya ang gulay, pag galing sa kapitbahay. And I thank you!
Before I wrap this up, I'm inviting my cookerist friends to join the contest too. Starting off with my friend with thousands of followers on Facebook and YouTube in her cooking vlog: @met2selah, @usagigallardo015, @jurich60, @hallmarkey2023.

Happy Humpday, Wednesday Walker!
How is your midweek going?
This post is the continuation of our little tour in Torres Farm and Resort that I posted last week.
Our little tour was cut off last time at the Statue of Liberty because I needed to attend to my kids needs after they came out of the pool. They ate a quick lunch before they took the shower, changed clothes, settled our things in the car compartment, and proceeded to walk while our hair was still dripping wet. There was no more time to dry them, and I also forgot to bring the dryer.
Netherland Windmill For the second half of our tour, this cute yellow windmill was our first stop.
There was a group of tourists taking photos ahead of us, so we waited for our turn and took a groupie picture, then proceeded to the next one. The kids were already tired of swimming, which is very evident in the photo. By now, I know that touring the whole place by foot is almost impossible.
Big Ben
I was expecting the youngest one to request to be carried while on our way here, but he was determined to walk and see the next replica too; he was as interested as his older brother.
My firstborn was actually super excited to check out what was inside the replica, expecting something interesting to see, but he was left disappointed because the "Big Ben" was actually a comfort room😆; the left and right wings were divided into male and female comfort rooms.
Next to this Elizabeth Tower or Big Ben replica is the iconic red telephone booth in London. My older son actually made an attempt to test whether the phone was functional out of pure curiosity. Silly kiddo!
The Train Station
I was relieved when I saw the train station was now open. I have an alternative way of roaming around just in case the little one falls asleep. His older brother still wanted to explore the place more, and I don't want to wait in the car, so I will tag along even if it means I need to carry a sleeping toddler. 😆
Approaching the train ticket booth, We decided to buy train tickets because we were already tired of walking.
I was so right! He fell asleep as soon as the train started moving. Maybe the nursery rhyme put him to sleep.
Alright, let's go for a ride.
Cinderella's Castle
I can no longer come up close to take a closer picture of the replica because we are now riding a train, though it is moving slowly enough for us to take photos of the replicas that will pass along the way.
Leaning Tower of Pisa
The Merlion
Pyramid of Sphinx
La Louvre of Paris
It started to sprinkle rain when we reached this part of the farm before the train detour going back to the train station to complete the ride. If you've watched the video, you will also see some landmarks that I missed taking photos of, such as the replica of the Great Wall of China and the all-year-round Christmas Village where they have snow party during weekend.
There are more attractions under construction; yes, they are adding more to the already long list of replicas.
If you're interested to visit, here are some details about the farm and resort.
This will conclude my blog for a great walk through this amazing place of landmark replicas. This is my participation in the #WednesdayWalk organized by @tattoodjay in collaboration with #makemesmile by @elizacheng. I hope we had fun exploring the area together and that it made you smile as well.
Thank you for reading, and see you on my next one!

Hola, foodie friends!
It's been a while since I last posted in the community, as I was pretty loaded with work as a mom, tutor, housewife, and other side hustles in real life.
I was finally able to get some spare time to sit down in front of the computer and come up with a topic to write about. Today I'll be sharing the process of making homemade purple yam jam or we called this Ube Halaya. We used to prepare this delightful treat over the holidays and give it away to family members and close friends, thus it holds a very special place in my heart. You are special if you receive this homemade jam as a present because the person who gave it to you spent time and effort making it. It takes a lot of time and effort to prepare this dish, especially if you're making a large quantity. To achieve the ideal consistency and ensure that the jam won't stick to the pan bottom, constant mixing is required. If you are looking for a recipe that will also help you tone your arms, I recommend you try this.
Purple Yam Jam Ingredients:
Procedure:
Tip: When peeling the uncooked yam, wear gloves because the resin from the root crop stings and itches when it comes into contact with the skin. Some people peel the yam before boiling it, but I prefer to peel it first so that the dirt can be washed out before cooking.
Grate the cooked yam.
In a large pot, combine coconut milk and white sugar and let it boil.
Once boiling, add the condensed milk, evaporated milk, vanilla, a pinch of salt, and the grated purple yam. Mix it all together.
This is where the stirring begins. Keep stirring until the liquid is reduced.
Once the liquid has reduced, add the butter.
Continue stirring like there's no tomorrow for 30 minutes.
Turn off the heat, let it cool, and transfer it into a jar or container.
Serve and enjoy! You can serve it as is, or you can use it in pastries, smooties, rice cakes, and other dishes.
I can't recall how many times I took a spoonful while waiting for it to cool.
I will be posting the recipe where I used this jam, so please stay tuned!
Photo below for a little teaser!
Shelf life: two weeks in the chiller and up to one month in the freezer.
If you'd reached this far, why didn't you help me stir? Kidding! I hope you like the recipe, and I hope you give it a try!
Thank you for reading, and I'll see you in my next one.

Hello dear Hivers!
My family and I visited this small resort I didn't know existed in my hometown. I later found out that the resort started building their business in the midst of a pandemic and lockdowns. It wasn't until early this year when the resort became fully operational because travel ban and tourist restrictions were lifted. Thank goodness the restrictions were lifted! We can finally unwind with less worries.
The resort was just 20 minutes' drive from our house. We were a large group, mostly children, so we opted for daytime swimming, but the resort offers nightswimming and is lovely during the night.
It was pretty cloudy when we got there, but it didn't stop us, especially the kids, from having fun. Rain or shine, they will jump into the pool.
After a few minutes of hiding in the clouds, the sun shone at last!
The resort is in a beautiful setting, with a rice field on one side and a mountain vista on the other. Additionally, as I looked around the area, I noticed cottages and additional pools that were still under construction. After a few more years of nonstop construction, I'm certain it will be bigger and more beautiful. I already imagine watching a dramatic sunset while dipping in the pool during the summer.
The poolside is perfect for relaxation and the blue water is enticing, plus all the staff are also accommodating. They will greet you with lovely smiles every time.
The younger children immediately jump into the pool as soon as we get there, while the older children are busy exploring the facilities and seeking for water games and activities. And the elderly, including myself, were busy putting up the table and preparing the food.
I made a short video of the whole place for you to see, but I only took videos around the pool. I was so preoccupied that I missed the chance to roam the other parts of the resort. The farm turned into a resort has cornfields, ricefields, and I saw a lot of dragon plants too that you can freely visit. The owner permits visitors to check out the farm.
Here are my cousins having fun in the pool.
The nicest place to hang out and drink is at the minibar that overlooks the pool, especially at night when the entire area is lit in a variety of hues, including the pool. Yes, during the night, the pool lights change into different colors.
If you want to be closer to nature, they also have a table setup literally under the tree.
Aside from cottages and gazebos, they also have air-conditioned chalets and cabanas where you can stay comfortably over night after enjoying the pool, which we will check out next time we go back. Yeah, we will definitely go back in the summer!
Thank you for reading this far; I hope you also watched the video.
Until next time!

After being homeschooled for three years, my oldest son will shortly start attending face-to-face classes. We went to the mall and purchased him his school supplies to get him ready.
Join us as we roam around the mall!
His teacher provided us with a list of supplies to buy when he was enrolled. Having a list is an excellent way to start your shopping! The most crucial thing is to follow that list as well! Let's check back on that later.
Not included in the given list but we need to buy are his bag, shoes, belt, and socks because he has already outgrown his old clothes that didn't fit anymore. Well, that's not surprising. He was in Kindergarten when he last attended in-person classes and he is now in Grade 3.
Everything is new. If it didn't get him pumped up, even a little bit, I don't know what else would. When I was in elementary school, I recall how excited I was to use my brand-new pencil and colors and get to class when it started.
Our first stop is the National Bookstore. It is a well-known bookstore and retailer of office and school products in the Philippines.
| | | | | --- | --- | --- | | | | |
As soon as we walked into the bookstore, my oldest was beaming from ear to ear. He couldn't wait to choose his things. We allowed him to make his own decisions. Naturally, it made us nervous when he chose the priciest one out of the available options. He wasn't considering the cost. My husband and I were.😆
He took his time selecting his set of rulers after picking his set of notebooks. He was apparently looking for a specific set that he had seen on YouTube, but it wasn't there, so he had to pick another.
Before leaving the National Bookstore, we had already crossed everything off the list his teacher had given us. I didn't get any pictures because I was focused on keeping the youngest near and making sure he didn't cause any damage to save us money. Parents can relate to this. lol
To look for his bag and shoes, we went to the mall's top floor. My husband and I had intended to get him a trolley bag so he wouldn't have to lift his bulky bag full of books, but the child had other ideas.
He was still undecided despite the fact that we had already checked every corner with trolley bags. It came out that he had changed his mind about using the trolley bag. He claimed he was old enough to not use bags with wheels. Now he preferred a backpack without wheels. It took him some time to express what he wanted—a bag for the big boys.
The bag of his choice.
We let him choose from among the many backpacks on display as we stood back and watched him make his decision before coming back to us. We were nervous that his choice would leave us broke, as there were bags as expensive as $200! LOL He carried that blue bag back with him. I questioned him over his selection. He said he liked it because it had a lot of pockets inside. Thank goodness that bag was less than 20 bucks! We saved some money! Hooray! The quality is also good! Fantastic choice, child!
The shoes are up next! Before leaving the house, he had already informed us what he wanted on his shoes, so we knew what to look for. He said he does like shoes with shoelaces as it takes time to put on. He wants shoes that are easy to wear or slip on.
After selecting the appropriate shoe size. We continued to walk around.
We went by the mall's cookware area. Things will spiral out of control at this point. lol
I was looking at some spoons for nonstick pans when a salesman approached me and said they were having a sale on stoneware cooking pans. I have a weakness for huge discount sales. So help me God.
We end up buying things that were not on the shopping list! It's even more costly than what's on the list! Dang sale! If it's any consolation, I need a high-quality pan to cook my kids a delicious breakfast before they leave for school, right? Right?
Conclusion. It's difficult to stick to a shopping list, therefore it's best to refrain from making one. Lol.
Thank you so much for reading!
Until next time!

*Good day, dear Hivers!
I sincerely hope you are all enjoying this brand-new week!*
*As for me, I'm doing great!
Just recently, me and my husband found this little cafe while we were on a ride.*
When my kids' granny offered to watch the kids one afternoon, we seized the opportunity to leave without having a specific destination in mind. Helmet on! And let's go for a ride!
When we were riding motorcycles and simply following the route, it felt like we were back in the good old days. There aren't many trips we take where it's just the two of us. Everywhere we go, we take our two children.
We weren't sure where we were going and wondered between taking the road to the beach or the one to the mountain. We were having a great time as we rode. Going out together as just the two of us is thrilling. lol. Our greatly needed "we" moment.
We decided to take the road that would take us to the mountain; we'd taken it before, so we knew what to expect and what to see, but we were still on the lookout for a surprise.
For more than 15 minutes, we savored the scenery and atmosphere. While he was driving, my spouse started mumbling. We were traveling on motorcycles, so I was unable to understand what he was saying. He stopped driving to tell me he thought he had seen a cafe close to the road, but he wasn't sure. I advised him to go back to the location where he had seen the cafe.
The entrance of the cafe.
We almost missed it! The signage was small, and the gate made it look like a residential space from the outside.
We decided to park and check it out. We learned that the cafe had just recently opened early this year, one of the crew members remarked.
The inside was pretty spacious. They built a wooden box-style stall and set up a table, chair, and umbrella for guests.
We decided to sit at the table on the cafe's upper level where we could see the entire area.
We selected a table and then proceeded to look at the menu. We purchased whatever was offered because it was now late afternoon and their best-selling rice cakes had already sold out.
We enjoyed the area and took pictures as we waited for the order to come. I also recorded a brief video in which you can hear crickets and birds chirping.
The cafe was surrounded by lush greenery, which I loved, and the air was fresh and cold.
There's also a small bridge next to the cafe. This is the view you'll really enjoy while you're sipping your coffee.
We waited for our order for more than 15 minutes, although we were unaware of the passing time because we were appreciating the surroundings and the atmosphere of the location.
You can hear the delightful chirping sounds in the brief video clip I uploaded taken from the cafe.
Finally, our order arrived! We ordered iced coffee, ham and cheese sandwiches, and tuna sandwiches with chips.
We also added an order of 2 pcs of "binotong," one of their most popular dishes made with sticky rice. It was the last two pieces!
Binotong is a steamed sticky rice covered in pure coconut milk and wrapped in banana leaves. It doesn't look appealing in the photo, but trust me, it tastes so good.
We lingered for a bit after finishing our meals just chatting about nothing in particular while savoring our iced cold coffee.
I spotted this poster in the corner. How I wish the weekend is everyday.
We had a great time and will definitely return. Perhaps we will come back at an earlier time so we can try their best sellers!
Will you come along next time?
Thank you for reading!
Until next time!

What's up, Hivers?!
Are you up for some island adventure?
Join me as I explore my hometown's pride. A little island called Atulayan.
It was a week ago when we went home to the province for a short vacation. A much-needed opportunity to relax and see our loved ones.
My oldest child always gets excited whenever we talk about our hometown. He always assumes that we are heading to the beach.
Just a brief introduction about the town: Sagñay is a small coastal town facing the Pacific Ocean and Atulayan is one of the 19 baranggays under the jurisdiction of the town.
To go to the island, we must first visit the Baranggay Nato. They manage boat transportation going to our island destination.
Depending on how many persons are in the boat, the standard boat rate ranges from $30 to $40. Life jackets are included in the boat rate.
We used my aunt's boat for this excursion. I just put the rate above for reference. For the travel time, it will take 15–20 minutes to reach the island.
Our boat approaching the island.
When we got on the island, a baranggay tanod, or baranggay police officer, welcomed us and helped us pay the P10.00 ($0.18) per person for environmental fee.
We paid P400.00 ($8) for the bamboo cottage, where we set up our belongings and the food we had brought.
Now that all are settled, let's start exploring the island.
The ocean was calm, and the waves were gentle, making it a wonderful day for spending at the beach.
My youngest son went straight to the water right after the boat arrived.
My brother and my niece.
Let's take a short hike!
The island is divided into three parts ~~or more~~. And where we landed, there's a small pathway leading to the other side of the island. If you've watched the video above, you'll see the trek going to the other side.
The following photos are taken from the entrance going to the other side of the island.
We'll find the entrance by following that mass of stones over there on the right side of this photo.
The Entrance.
Here's the view on top of that mass of stones.
Another shot before we continue hiking.
After few steps, pose for a photo again!
Stay still because the scenery is about to get spectacular as we ascend the hiking trail.
This where the shore and the mountain meet.
Crystal clear water.
The trail's highest point.
Your eyes will feast on the abundance of green, blue, and white contrast during this portion of the journey. Also, don't forget about the mountain breeze and the sea! The best feeling!
We are almost there!
The other side of the island.
I was busy taking videos so I didn't have much photos on this part. lol
Me and my youngest sister.
We continued filming for a little while longer before returning to our cottage to feast on the food!
The food, of course! I nearly forgot about it. Without food, swimming isn't complete, so let's include food in this blog as well!
Here's the food we brought to the island. Prepared by my Mama. Thank you Mama!
We brought hotdogs for kids and kids at heart, rice, chicken feet, pancit bihon, spicy chicken adobo, and aroyo (a Filipino delicacy made of sticky rice wrapped in banana leaves).
Meet my group.
Before deciding to join in the fun, I circled the group a few more times to snap photographs of everyone enjoying the sights, food, and sea air. This rarely occurs when a family goes swimming together, so I make sure I have everything under my lens.
My brother's soon family of four.
The happiest kid in the planet, my eldest.
Happy faces.
Our bunso (youngest).
Me and my mother.
Sisters. My beautiful mother and auntie.
My cousins.
My niece.
Kamayan sa buhangin.😍
Family.
As I concluded this blog, I couldn't help but smile. I have a ton of pictures and wonderful memories from our trip and everyone enjoyed their day at the beach.
I hope you've seen the video if you've read this far in order to really appreciate the experience. And I somehow wish it could take you on virtual vacations.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read.
Until next time,
❤️❤️❤️

Hello dear Hivers! How are you all?
Do you have a favorite hangout place where you and your family love to bond?
We have one. It's actually a public open space. But we usually go there if we want to go out and have fun.
Wanna tag along?
Living in an urban place where our usual view is a row of houses, buildings, and a lot of commercial establishments, we always long for a breather, a little space where we can connect with nature.
This has been our constant place to go to, so we've witnessed all the changes, from the drying of grass because of the intense summer heat, to the blooming of the flowers, and leaves falling on the ground.
These photos were taken on different days and I just compiled them so you'll see the changes depending on the season.
Sunrise view.
Playing badminton with family. This little park is just minutes away from our house, and that's where I jog in the morning or ride my bike and play badminton.
Me and my son biking in the morning
Dried flowers from the trees.
The building at the back of that photo above is a supermarket, and that's where we buy our essential needs. So when I'm inside shopping, my kids are waiting for me outside playing with their father.
There they are, waiting patiently for me to finish paying for the groceries. They just came from the playground, but they couldn't play because there was a muddy puddle at the landing of the slide caused by the rain.
And that's our breather in the middle of a busy urban place; not the grandest landscape you'll ever see, but just enough to breath fresh air, connect with nature and play around.
I added a short clip of us playing, or should I say "me" chasing my kids. A short video with lots of giggles. I hope you like it!
Thank you for reading until the end, and I hope you enjoyed tagging along!

This is a very affordable, easy to make recipe and the ingredients are widely available in Asean Market.
In this recipe we can enjoy budget-friendly, healthy and delicious meal.
Let's start cooking!
Ingredients:
1/2 kg pechay (Chinese white cabbage)
5 cubes tofu
1 medium size onion
3 cloves of garlic
2 medium tomatoes
1 tablespoon oil (sauté)
1/2 cup of oil (frying the tofu)
3 tablespoons soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/2 cup of water
Instructions:
Fry the tofu and then set aside.
Heat the pan and saute garlic and onion until the aromatics are fully cooked.
We used to plant pechay in recyclable containers in front of our house. It's easy to grow even in small spaces. This leafy vegetable is very common in Southeast Asean and popular in the Philippines for stew, soup and stir-fry. It is also great with fish and coconut milk!
Have you tried this kind of dish?
I would love to hear your feedback.
Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed the video.
Until next time!

Good morning Hivers!
Today is my schedule appointment of booster shot for Covid Vaccine.
Wanna come along?
It was a lovely day for a motorcycle ride
Motorcycle is our means of transportation from point A to point B.
I usually ride my bike to move around the village to save gas but on special day like this, I asked my husband to drive me around since the Vaccination site is few kilometers away from home.
It's been few years since we relocated outside the Metro where our means of transportation then were jeepney, rails and buses.
My vaccine appointment was 8:00 am so we went there half an hour early to avoid delays and so that I can still have time to rest for a while before taking the booster shot.
After 30 minutes motorcycle ride, we finally arrived to our destination. It was still early and medical staff facilitating the mass vaccination was still preparing their stuff.
The Vaccination Site
After a short interview, checking my blood pressure and my medical history I was clear to go. They asked me to proceed to the Vaccine booth where the doctors and nurses are waiting.
After the shot, they asked us to stay for 15 minutes for observation.
After the observation, we ride our way home. We were halfway home when we remember buying some take out for the kids. We stopped over in Pizza Store for awhile to buy their favorite ham and cheese overload pizza.
We arrived home after 20 minutes of drive. Sanitize everything, change clothes and dig in!
And that's how my early commute went.
Thank you for reading this far!
Until next time!

Beautiful morning Hivers!
May is the hottest month of the year. When the sun is high up, the flowers are in full bloom. At the same month we celebrate a festival of flowers as a devotional offering or Flores de Mayo.
To honor this month-long celebration I made a compilation of all my flower photography that I took just around the house and few shots from our previous trip. Flowers are like magnet of my eyes. Never fails to take a second look when I see a flower. There's always a special place in my photo gallery saved up just for flowers. 😍
These are macro shot of flowers on the side of the street.
Pre pandemic Flores de Mayo is the most awaited event during summer. The celebration is always grand and there are spectacular parade of flowers held in every town. Ladies dressed in their best gowns are all lined up in the streets for parade with their handsome escorts and adorned by their beautiful arch filled with lovely flower decorations. But it was put on hold when when social gathering was restricted.
It's been three years since the last time I watched that beautiful parade.
These are just few of my mother-in-law's orchid collection.
Side story if her orchid plants. We are residing near the Pacific Ocean and our place is always the first to hit when there's typhoon. During storm, her orchids are always the first to put into safety before anything else. 😆
Now that we are slowly getting back to normal I am looking forward to witness this grand festival again and I will surely update you about it next time.
Do you have similar summer festival in your place too?
Thank you for reaching this far and I hope you like my short video compilation.
Keep safe and see you next time!

Hello Foodies
Welcome back to my blog!
For todays video we will be cooking Pork mechado
Pork mechado is a tomato sauce-based stew in the Philippines. It a simple recipe with simple ingredients too.
I already adjusted this recipe to my kids liking. I didn't add bell pepper and green peas because they don't like it but if you do, please feel free to add.
This dish is very versatile, if you don't eat pork you can replace it with chicken or beef.
Let's get cooking!
Here is the list of Ingredients:
1/2 kg pork shoulder cut in cubes
2 tablespoons lime or kalamansi juice
3 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons butter
3 cloves garlic
1 medium onion
1/2 cup tomato sauce
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
1 cups water
1 large potato
2 medium carrots
Instructions:
Combine pork, soy sauce and lime juice. Mix it well and marinate for 10 minutes.
Heat the pan and melt the butter. Saute garlic and onion.
Enjoy!
I personally like to add "atchara" a fermented pickled green papaya as a side dish, but the dish alone with rice is already flavorful and delicious!
Try it and I would love to hear your feedback.
Is there any recipe you want me try next?
Put it in the comment and maybe I can give it a try.
I'm always in the kitchen and love experimenting new dish and recipes.
Alright, time to wrap it up!
Thank you so much for watching and join me again on my next blog!
Keep safe!

Hello Foodies!
I was in the middle of preparing our lunch when I suddenly thought of recording the food I'm cooking and wonder if there's the same recipe in another part of the world.
Have you ever tried of "Tortang Talong" or Eggplant Omelette?
"Tortang talong" is Filipino fritter made of pan-frying grilled eggplant with meat fillings dipped in egg mixture.
Grill the eggplant, sauté the filling and pan fry. Sound complicated? Not really! It's easy I swear!
So Let's get started!
Here's the list of ingredients!
5 pcs eggplants
5 eggs
For the fillings:
8 ounces ground pork
2 medium tomatoes chopped
1 medium onion chopped
2 gloves garlic minced
cooking oil
salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
1. Grill the eggplants until both sides turned black. Set aside and let it cool.
2. Meanwhile heat 2 tablespoons of oil in the pan and sauté garlic, onion and tomatoes
3. Add the ground pork until the meat turns brown add salt and pepper to taste then let it simmer for 3 minutes. Transfer to a bowl then set aside
4. Now peel off the eggplant skin, beat the egg in a separate bowl and be ready to assemble and fry
5. To assemble, using a fork flatten the eggplant in a plate put the sauteed ground pork on top then poured the beaten egg.
6. Heat the remaining oil in the pan then gently put the assembled eggplant in the hot oil, cook in medium heat.
7. After 3 minutes gently flip the other side and cook it for another 2 minutes.
8. Transfer to a plate and serve with hot rice.
This omelette is my kid's favorite so I always prepare it whenever they request for some. Try it! It's flavorful and easy to make!
Thank you for watching!
Until next time!

Busy Wednesday Hivians!
Are you feeling the need to unwind in the middle of the week?
Lemme take you to a place where the mountain, the sky and the sea meets.
Who's in for a road trip?
Are you excited?
Okay stay put, let's go for a ride!
No need for a long hike or ride on a boat to sea this beautiful natural scenery.
And it's only 10 minutes drive away from the town proper.
Yup you heard it right! 10 minutes quick ride!
Our destination is this small port in Bongalon, Sagñay, Camarines Sur.
We ride a motorcycle going there.
Once you arrived at the entrance of the port. Here's the view that will welcome you!
The port it self is no longer operational, since it was built facing the Pacific Ocean, it was hit by typhoons numerous times causing the huge cracks in the concrete structures. They still allowed fishing there. Which reminds me to bring fishing rods next time we go there. Boat and ferries anre not allowed to use the dock. Aside from fishing, you can also set up a tent and camp. The sunrise at this part the beach is also magnificent!
It is good place to go if you just want to be with nature, feel the breeze of the sea and filled your eyes with the beautiful view of the mountain. The water is clear the you can see the little fish swimming in between the rocks.
Visiting this part of the town is therapeutic for me. The sound of the soft waves is soothing. The place is also abundant in mangroves so you will be greeted with the chirping sound of the birds too.
The last time we visited here, it took us 3 hours before going home and half of that time we spent sitting and soaking our feet in the water and talking about anything under the sun.
Video on our way to the port is uploaded here too.
Do you also like the view of the sea, sky and the mountains?
Are you a fan pf road trip too?
Join me next time we hit the road!
Bye for now! Keep safe!
